"A bad situation ... made better"
Upon check in at 1:30 am, only a smoking room was available. A request for a non smoking room had been made prior to arrival. The room really smell of 30 years of smoking! I was moved to a sister property 10 minutes away.At 2:30 am I finally settled into my new accommodations, which were very nice. The sister hotel was the Avon Old Farms Hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent Service and the entire staff is friendly and ready to assist you in anything! The staff is also very informative. I asked about their pet policy and long stay rates. I learned they will work with me on both subjects. Nice to know, I always have a clean and quite place to rest my feet from a long travel.Genuine Expedia guest review
I made my reservation just a day in advance of my planned travel dates. Not only were they able to accommodate me, but the Inn was located just a few miles from the event to which I was attending. Along with this, I was able to book a beautiful room for the same price as some other "less than cozy" locations. I was taking my son for his first trip across […] country, and this was the perfect opportunity to not only show him the sights, but also treat him to a little "luxury", in his eyes :) When we arrived, which was around 2am, the staff member who greeted us was fantastic, helpful, bright-eyed and very pleasant! However, much to my dismay, the next day we had some financial issues arise due to the reservation being charged twice to my card..which left me in a bit of a pinch. The Inn's manager was OVER THE TOP helpful in getting this resolved as quickly as possible, which made our trip even more pleasant than it already was! It was amazing to me the care in which the staff here show their guests. I've worked in the hospitality industry, being a general manager of a resort myself, and I was sublimely impressed with the entire staff and their attention to detail, their wonderful attitudes, etc. I HIGHLY recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a very nice, reasonably priced, extremely well-located hotel within the area. You all helped make this a wonderful experience for my son and myself, and I thank you greatly!!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was conveniently located"
I was apprehensive about not knowing the area and the Farmington Inn. The pictures of the rooms on line were very clear. What I saw, when reserving my room was exactly what we got. The Inn had a great deal of Colonial Charm. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We checked in late our room was held for us and noted late check in. Everyone […] was so polite, friendly, and willing to go out of their way to help us in anyway possible. The amenities were terrific. Room service very good. We truly could not have been happier. We all wanted to take the beds home with us. SSSSOOOO comfortable. I truly cannot say enough good things about our stay. I would definitely recommend this Inn to everyone. There is so much available to you at this INN. The Farmington was a very good choice and very good price as well. Thank you to everyone at the Farmington Inn for making our stay so special. A very pretty quiet lobby for visiting or just relaxing. Internet capabilities at no additional charge. coffee in the room very good brew. room service also. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Charming and pleasant"
This property was a quick exit off 84 and situated in a nice area with Starbucks , a gas station and a fab pizza place across the street called "Naples". Nice morning breakfast and friendly staff. Plenty of parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great value and comfort"
Front desk accomodated my request for an early check in. My only complaint was loud partying neighbors waking me up at 1:30 am but I called front desk and the noise soon stopped.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location for visiting CT Wine Trail."
Our room was large and clean. Newer carpets though the wallpaper was slightly dates. My wife loved the heated floor in the bathroom. The Inn staff was friendly and helpful. But best of all was that it was located within a half hour of 4 or 5 wineries on the Connecticut Wine Trail. The perfect place for a wine tasting weekend!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming But Aging and Neglected"
this inn is such a gracious concept. It's located in the town center, quiet and conveniently located near places to find good food, fuel, newspapers, coffee, a pharmacy. It's also reasonably priced. So it has nearly everything. Yet its shortcomings are important considerations for most travelers. The biggest drawback is the inconsistent standards of […] comfort, care and upkeep of the rooms. In the span of ten years, too many of the rooms have fallen into disrepair. It is not an issue of housekeeping per se, because the staff at the Inn is extremely hardworking, and always exceptionally polite. Yet long term planning and upkeep has been overlooked in the business model here. By this I mean routine shampooing and refurbishment of the carpets, ventilation systems and walls. Some rooms have been updated, yet in my past five visits, each and every room featured badly soiled dark teal carpeting, tinged brown and worn, lifting in places, and simply worn out. The bathroom wall paper surrounding the door was mottled with a dark green mold and lifting from the surface (in spite of the rattling, loud, irritating exhaust vent that can not be operated separately from the lighting). Some rooms are still very pretty, with canopy beds and nice white linens, yet most are drab, musty and badly ventilated, with murderously hard mattresses. The Inn is reverting to its original concept, a cheaply engineered motel, and that's sad. It needs (and deserves) some TLC. Lovely staff, but poor oversight. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Do Not recommend."
Rooms are not clean. Beds uncomfortable. Breakfast substandard.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was old with dated furnishings that weren't maintained well at all. The dresser where the television was located had numerous holes drilled into the top of it along side of the television. The lamps hadn't been dusted in weeks, the sheets ment to cover the box spring under the mattress hadn't been charged, were stained and weren't even covering […] the box spring. The faucet in the tub leaked but luckily we couldn't hear it unless we were in the bathroom. The tub would fill with water when we ran the shower and drain eventually after the water had been turned off. Fortunately we only needed to stay here one night so in that regard the room served its purpose but I would not recommend any extended stays at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Farmington Inn has to have had a distinguished past. It is still visually a lovely place to enter, as is each room. We learned that there were new staff at the front desk, and that staff were in the early stages of using a new computer system. Understanding that, we were still disappointed in attention to detail during our stay. The carpet in our […] room was not clean. Sink faucets were not really clean. Front staff were quick to respond to our requests (extra towels, wake up call). Breakfast had a number of choices and was convenient. Tea and coffee - and fresh water - are always available in the front lobby and that was useful. The location is convenient and reataurants are close by. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pleasant hotel in Farmington Inn"
Quick overnight stay in Farmington had us stay at the Farmington Inn. This is a very nice older property and was conveniently located. The signage could be better - we drove right past it with our gps telling us we had arrived. The reception staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The room air conditioner didn't have […] a fine control - either max cool or cool, but it worked. The room could have used a few more outlets to charge my laptop and cell phone, but they were adequate. There was some chipped and flaking paint in the bathroom, but this is Humid New England! "Wonderful at times, but uneven."
It's common among properties that undergo renovation in phases, yet at the Farmington Inn, the condition of some rooms is quite poor. The carpet is soiled and worn in several rooms, and there is an overpowering scent of air freshener that only partially masks pet scents and a musty smell. Yet if you land in a room in which the ventilation system is […] properly serviced (filters cleaned) and the carpets properly cleaned or replaced, you can sleep well at the Inn. Some mattresses are impossibly hard and cheaply constructed. The bathrooms are quite clean yet it is impossible to turn on the bathroom light without activating the noisy overhead ventilation system. Huge positives are the convenient breakfast (good coffee), nice quality bed linens, very pretty canopies on the beds themselves, pet friendliness, and kindhearted reception team. "Clean and comfortable, nice location."
Stayed for 4 days in July 2013. Beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean, everything functioned the way it should. The staff were helpful and friendly. Cost a little more than hotels in nearby Southington but was cleaner and more comfortable. Surrounding area is very historic and well maintained.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Just what we were looking for"
For our wedding night, we wanted a place that would allow a late check-in and that was close enough to where family and friends were staying in Plainville so that we could get back for brunch in the morning before heading out for our honeymoon. Farmington Inn was all of these things, and the canopy bed added a nice (but not too sentimental) special […] touch to the night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great place to stay in Farmington!!"
The Farmington Inn was a convenient and nice place to stay in town. The room was large and well set up. Continental breakfast was also well beyond average. Overall a very nice experience.!!Genuine Expedia guest review
The service was excellent. The room was large and king bed was very comfy! They apparently had just cleaned the carpets in our room because they were still damp. There were what looked like soil from a potted plant in the corner, which I thought was odd. The complimentary breakfast was the usual. The fitness center is tiny with few options, but does […] have a full set of weights. Overall it was pretty much what we expected. Good Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"We found the little problems"
Generally our experience was very positive. To the extent that our only concerns are minor -- though one could be major to some people. The coffee in the room was only decaf. Some serving plates at breakfast had nearly nothing left. There are no elevators and many stairs. People behind desk could not give recommendation/directors for dinner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
it was good for the money except the noises you get from the top floor and the parking lots. Good break fast and clean room. Seems like the walls and the sealing is not stronger. You can hear ven when peole walk on the top floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms have a horrible smell to them! As soon as you open the door, it hits you. The carpet is so dirty the bottoms of my white socks (after 10 mins walking around) were a very dark brown. If they clean the place up, it would be an awesome hotel. As for now, avoid!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Inn Conveniently Located"
My wife and I were in a wedding and this was the hotel where the the wedding party stayed. We stayed in a king suite, which was very clean. The bed was comfortable, the was a decent-sized area for entertaining (the groomsmen relaxed and got ready in our room) with a couch, table, desk, chair, dresser, and flat-screen TV. The full-sized mirror was definitely […] helpful. The room had floor-to-ceiling windows which overlooked Route 4. This location is perfectly situated, there is a decent pizza restaurant across the street and within minutes you have every imaginable shopping option in Avon, Canton, Simsbury, Farmington, and West Hartford. I-84 is also less than a 5-minute drive. Traffic on Route 4 in the area is usually heavy, but the Inn has no control over that, so we dealt with it. The exercise room is small but has a good variety for the traveler and the breakfast was what I would call continental plus (a few hot items and a waffle iron on top of traditional continental). We also rented a conference room downstairs for the wedding "after party" and it comfortably sat about forty people with tables and chairs. We did not have much occasion to speak with the staff, but when we did they were very friendly. Overall we would stay here again and recommend it to others looking to stay in the area. "close enough to University of Hartford"

"Great place to stay"
The staff was kind and very friendly. The room was very clean, no problem, no complaints.Genuine Expedia guest review
Fine hotel. The obvious negative is that the town of Farmington doesn't have any grocery or drug stores and you have to drive back to West Hartford or elsewhere if you need anything like that. Also, the rooms don't have fridges. Excellent breakfast facility, however.Genuine Expedia guest review
"it was ok but not great."
The holet wasnt ready for check in.. I was waiting for an hour and i didnt get the key. So i was late for my event. But after 10pm when i came back every thing was good just the suit didnt look like on the pictures but it was ok. But next time ill look somewhere else. peace.. ;)Genuine Expedia guest review
The importance of the location led us to The Farmington Inn. The noise from the ac,heating and fan system was disturbing, The beds were not comfortable. The room had a mustiness smell. The breakfast was very good with many choices. The bathroom needs to be upgraded and repainted. Unfortunate that the Farmington Inn has no competition in that areaGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful and Elegant hotel."
I was so surprised when I checked into this hotel. It was so beautiful and elegant. The room was so comfortable especially the bed. It was like sleeping on a cloud. The breakfast was very good. I ended up staying a second night that I didn't plan and I was so happy to be in this hotel. If I go back to to this area I will definitely stay here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not as expected..."
I was expecting this to be a quaint higher end Inn, but it was more like an outdated hotel. It was fairly clean, but it was a very basic room with small shower/tub and bathroom. I was also expecting a king bed as I had requested online and we received a queen. What really soured our experience was the knocks on the door from the cleaning staff that […] we received a total of 3 times during our 1 night stay. First, about a half hour after we arrived to bring more towels and pillows which we had not requested and the next two came the morning after to clean our room. Sunday morning at 9:20 when we were still sleeping the wait staff rudely started knocking when checkout was not until 11:00 and then came back again about an hour later when we were still in the room. There was no "Do not disturb" tag that we could have put on the door so that was not an option. Also, the continental breakfast consisted of cold sausage, cereal, bagels, toast and some apples and oranges. I understand it is a continental not full breakfast, but I was expecting a little more. When I mention outdated, the carpet was old and there was a tube TV with built in VCR. Maybe next time we will bring our VHS collection! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Lovely New England Inn"
This is a lovely old New England inn, with Early American charm near Miss Porter's School. Canopy beds, wallpaper, lovely lobby with fireplace, wing-back chairs, cookies and wine. However, the walls are paper thin and you may wake up to your neighbor's alarm clock or hear their TV all night. There was no desk or adequate lighting to read. The Inn was modern in facility but decorated in historic style and color. It was very comfortable and inviting. The staff was very helpful and always pleasant. "Nice for the Price"
The rooms are clean and well maintained. They are spacious. The regular King room had a love seat, large flat screen tv, 4 poster bed, a desk. I would stay at this location anytime that I was in this area again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the hotel---will return there again. Wish I'd known about it sooner--- would have stayed there over the past four years instead of the so-so place we've been staying at while my visiting my daughter at her college.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old but New"
It was an old hotel, no elevators, no luggage carts on the second floor. Luggage had to be hand carried to the room by yourself. First room was dirty and smelled terrible. We were given a different room that was much better. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Enjoyed our stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't judge a book by it's cover"
Dust everywhere in room. Bathroom shower and toliet causing bathroom floor to continuously getting wet when used. Bed linens smelled. Bed was very, very uncomfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very unimpressed with this "luxury" hotel"
There was nothing luxurious about this hotel. We arrived at 9 pm and there were no restaurants nearby that we could get dinner, and the staff was not helpful with offering suggestions. The "business center" is one old, slow computer connected to a printer that didn't work. There are no elevators which makes it challenging to get up to rooms if you have […] a lot of stuff, or anything heavy. The room was along a pretty busy street and we heard traffic all night. Overall very disappointed and will not stay here again and would not recommend it at all. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quaint and comfortable"
I travel quite a bit for business and for this trip I decided to stay in locally-owned hotels. The Farmington Inn was excellent!
