The hotel was in a good location, but a little hard to find as there isn't much signage out front that catches your eye. No valet parking, but the garage is attached to the building making it easy to get to your car. The room was spacious but smelt smoking and the bed was VERY uncomfortable. It was a very small mattress on a box spring basically and the sheets would come un-tucked leaving you sleeping right no the mattress. Gross... For the price, it was decent, about a Motel, but I would probably pay more money for a more enjoyable experience.

I stayed at this hotel for the first time recently. The location was central to everything downtown & most 'touristy' places were within walking distance. Rooms were nice and big with large windows; beds were comfortable. Hotel staff was professional & helpful. Having a good comedy club at the hotel was a nice bonus. Parking is a little expensive downtown and the hotel does not have parking included (there is adjacent parking garage, but not discounted rates for hotel guests).

I recently stayed at the Century-Plaza Hotel while in Vancouver for a conference. The hotel staff (at all hours of the day) were friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the in-house Beyond Coffee shop and free wireless in the lobby. The lobby has been recently renovated and gives off the feel of a boutique hotel. The guest rooms have not been updated, but a clean and well appointed. I appreciate the extra space of the suite-style. Despite being located next to a hospital, I was never disturbed by street noise. The location is easily walkable to the Robson Street shopping district, Davie Street, and the clubs on Granville. Since the hotel is located on a major thorough-fare of the city, you can easily catch buses to other parts of town as well. I highly recommend the Century-Plaza. I only wish I had gotten a chance to check out their spa services!

Worked well for us. Have been there before. The toilet flush handle broke in the evening. The desk man came up and said he couldn't fix it as the tools were "locked up". We told him that was unacceptable--what are we supposed to do? Soon there was a knock on the door and the repair person who just happened to be at the comic club in the hotel came up. Said the desk man found him and asked him to come. Lucky.

My friend and I were visiting Vancouver BC for the very first time. I was very hesitant at first to book the Century Plaza Hotel based on the pricing per night. Most hotels from my city (San Francisco, CA) that are price this low are usually the dingy, low maintenance hotels. Nevertheless, I was on a budget and booked it. To my surprise, the hotel was outstanding! Lobby was nice and retro chic. Hotel room was pretty clean for a "boutique" hotel. The plus side to it was that it was big for it's size. The down side to it was that they really need to update the style to match that of the lobby. A tube TV?... retro but not up to standards. What I like most about this place was that it was central to everything! Robson St. is the best place to shop and it is only 2 blocks away from there. Actually, I never had to rent a car because it was close to EVERYTHING! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget visiting Vancouver. It exceeded my expectations for a low priced hotel.

As other reviews have noted, the hotel rooms are showing their age to some extent--curtain didn't pull closed real well, some paint scuffing, etc. However, having said that--the room included a stove, microwave, refrigerator and cooking utensils, which we always find convenient for a nice breakfast. The room was large and clean, with a nice bathroom, and with only 8 or nine rooms on each floor there was little noise from other guests. The location is incredibly convenient to shopping on Robson, and Davie, and a quick walk to anywhere in downtown Vancouver. Internet access was available at an extra charge, but was free in the lobby--which was great for getting done what we needed and people watching. The hotel is an excellent value considering the price, location and amenities.

The bed sheet covers and the comforter looked like they were purchased from salvation army. The sheets were rough, flimsy and uncomfortable. The heater does not go up more than 30 degree Celsius and it was cold all night in the middle of October. To their credit the bath room was OK and had modern looking sink.

I had been in the lobby of this hotel before our stay. It is modern, bright, and looks like a place I would stay. WOW, the rooms are nothing like what the lobby shows. The rooms have not been updated. Curtains with holes, toilet seats that move around, doors that don't close are just some of the "atmosphere" items that we had. However, at the top of the list was the fact that there is no A/C in the rooms to speak of. In addition, the "central heat" had been turned on in the building. They did not manage to turn it off when the warm weather returned. We ended up suffering with temps around 80 the first night. I should have been worried when I saw a stand fan in the bedroom. Feels morelike a stay with family vs hotel. Service is not up to standard as well. We were told the reason we did not get the bed choice we wanted was because of last min. reservation. Nicer rooms available but not offered as an option?? Will not be back !

We were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite on the 19th floor since we had booked a regular room so we had a full kitchen, separate bedroom and living room. The pros: The living area, set up like a small urban apartment, is wonderful. You get a small kitchen complete with stove, full-size fridge and sink overlooking an actual living room with a big-screen TV. The view was another asset. Cons: I've had a better night's sleep while camping. The cheap mattress was rock-hard, and the pillows were thinner than folded bath towels and probably less comfortable. A hotel in this price range should do much better; pillows and mattresses aren't that expensive and make a big difference. The hotel was also dustier than I would expect.

When you first arrive at the hotel, it is impressive--nice lobby, convenient restaurant, newly opened deli/cafe. After you left the lobby, the true nature of the hotel came through. The hotel is very dated. The rooms are okay, but old and tired looking. The water pressure on the shower was so strong that the floor got soaked every time, no matter how we tried to block the spray with the curtain. The hotel staff did not appear to really know the particulars about the transportation or the time it takes to get from one place to another. We were always told "it's a 15 or 20 minute walk" and, while we may be a little slower than some, we weren't 2 hours slower! We were sold a 2-day Big Bus Pass and told that we could use it all during the next two days and that we could get on, get off where we liked. That was a joke! The bus quit running in early evening and you could only get on or get off at pre-determined stops. The staff should have known the details if they were going to sell the tickets.
