"Great but noisy"
This is an elegant hotel and the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was spotless and very comfortable. I would have rated it a 5 on every category if it hadn't been for the noise at night. There was a street musician playing his trumpet in the courtyard right outside our window. I expect peace and quiet at night when I'm traveling. […] Having driven hundreds of miles that day, a good night's sleep was essential. We ended up cancelling our second night there. Lived in Riverside my whole life. Always wanted to stay there. It did not dissapoint. It was better than I expected. Just beautiful! I was like a little kid climbing stairs and roaming hallways all morning!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
what a great find, a hotel full of history. only complaint is that outdoor restaurants and bars close very early. Can only get a late drink indoors :(Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Who knew that Riverside is awesome?!"
Maybe it's because I'm a presidential history buff, maybe it's because I love mahogany furniture, or maybe it's just because I'd colored my memory of Riverside, but this place is awesome! Couldn't ask for a greater location- central to the convention center where I'd had business and right next to a pedestrian promenade with cute shops and delicious […] restaurants (and the greatest sandwich place ever). But stepping inside the hotel is the closest I've come to being back in my hometown of Washington DC. President Taft's chair, tributes to the Reagans who honeymooned there and the Nixons who even wed there, presidential portraits, and a tiled presidential seal. Then step outside and have an entire conversation with the macaws! (Granted, it's going to be a boring conversation, rich with the macaw telling you "hello" and "stop it"). I got plenty of work done with their free wifi before heading out to check out the history of the California Mission just across the street. Enjoy a refreshment by the stunning pool laced with palm trees, and splurge on one of huge best dinners you'll even have at their steakhouse. I can't believe that this five-star service and accommodation goes for under $200 a night. What a steal!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dissatisfied non smoker"
The hotel entrance, very cute and unsuspected. Receptionist, fast and courteous. The hall out of the elevator and leading to our room, stunk like cigar odor. Our room had a nice view of the swimming pool, but when I tried to take a bath, water did not come out of the shower head and I kept trying thinking I was doing something wrong. Finally I asked […] my husband to call for service but he decided to give it a try. After a while , he turned the shower head and was able to make it work. I don't know how the person who clean the bathroom was able to do it without water. I love history and antiques, and staying in The mission was an experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved everything about this hotel and plan to return. The only suggestion I would make is better lighting in the hallways at night. It was a little too dim for comfort when I was looking for my room alone at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A must See sort of place."
Aside from being a historical gem, this place was reminiscent of something out if a storybook. As you walk through the winding staircase or wonder down author's row, it's inevitable to feel as if a secret passage might await just around the corner. Best of all our children had a blast swimming in the salt water pool, while my partner and I felt inspired […] by the history and romance. Did I say the brunch buffet is to die for? Very affordable if you take advantage of their deals. Definitely stay at least once. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Mission Inn is Fabulous!"
My husband & I went here for our anniversary weekend. It was the most beautiful, breath-taking hotel we've ever stayed at! We spent an hour just exploring the grounds! The restaurants, spa, bars, lounge, pool & overall experience make this place a 10! The surrounding neighborhood isn't as great but you could just stay at the hotel & have a wonderful […] weekend! We did venture out & found some great bars & live music a few blocks away. I loved this place! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice but problematic"
was nice but crowded from tourists or area people using free wif iBars noisy and again, tourists not guests seemed to be at the tables. Hotel staff not up to the job. Lost items or credit cards not returned. No call to owner. No help, just Im sorry. I am not happy with the front desk mainly. Contacted management but nothing back. Im not a complainer […] but really lousy experience when dealing with staff. Also room was placed next to AC unit. Really loud. So maybe I was just unlucky. A Guy left his phone at valet. They did not even ask front desk for alternate number or name. Just ignored. Left it on desk top. Did not care to even try to get name from guest services. Was a customer. How hard could it be. I called front desk from valet station, another opportunity to tell me I left my card. Lost on them. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Four Star Hotel but not all Four Star Rooms"
This is listed as a historical hotel. It boasts beautiful and varied architecture while keeping a wonderful mission look and feel. There is a spacious lobby with wonderful sitting areas. The rooms are spacious and include a flat screen tv and a tub large enough to soak in. There are even nice robes included (though we didn't really need or use but nonetheless […] a nice touch). There is a large pool but the hotel itself is the star here. The hotel is rich in history and is almost a mini museum with beautiful items from Europe and Asia all throughout the hotel. There is a tour of the hotel for $13 and you may wonder, a fee to walk through your hotel ? - yes indeed but it was worth it as docents provide the colorful history, especially if you get an opportunity to see the chapel. It is beautiful and has six large Tiffany stained glass windows. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel has several nice restaurants and opens to Riverside Main Street which is converted to a pedestrian walkway and has several restaurants, coffee shops, etc., as well. The location is excellent, close to both the Riverside Museum and the Riverside Art Museum. Valet Parking is $20 with in and out privileges for hotel guests. There is a charge for internet. The grounds are nicely groomed. Now the negative - the hotel is historical and as such the modern niceties such as double pane windows and modern sound proofing were not evident at least in the more economical rooms. Sound from the street was moderate and noise from other rooms above or adjacent was noticeable. If you happen to get a first floor room where the restaurant sets up in the morning or cleans up at night, you may hear the noise including talking (clearly). And as restaurants go, they usually set up early and clean-up late. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was terrific except the air conditioning vents blew across the room right onto the bed. They need to locate the bed under the vents to avoid direct air. Several nights in this situation would have resulted in a sinus infection. Other than that, it is a lovely hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautful hotel, but no free in-room Internet"
I only stayed for one night, so I wasn't able to take advantage of all of the amenities. The Front Desk people were very pleasant and efficient. The room was very nice. It's what you would expect of an old, classic hotel, such as the Mission inn. My only complaint would be that they charge you for in-room Internet. In this day and age, complimentary […] Internet should be a given. I was in the Riverside area on business, and decided to "splurge" for a stay at the Mission Inn, knowing how beautiful it is, and thinking it would nice to relax after a long day's work. But when I return on business, I will probably stay at another hotel for this reason. For me, it's crucial to have Internet in my room. I don't want to have to lug my laptop, etc. to business area or to a public area in order to get free Internet. Mission Inn, you are a beautiful, historical hotel, but you might want to think about this. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A treat to early California architecture!!"
Our room was spacious, very well maintained, very very comfortable bed, fresh nice linens and stylish furnishings. I also love that they let you wander around to hotel to take in all of the architectural features, antique furniture all over the hotel and take in the evening in the awesome chapel courtyard, one of the many balconies or in one of the […] comfortable lobby of bar areas. The Hotel is beautiful, although the front desk clerk wasnt very helpful. Your Conceirge was wonderful, she has a great attitude, so happy and cheerful and so helpful. "Our 1st anniversary stay."
My husband and I stayed at the Mission Inn on our wedding night, so we decided we would spend the weekend there for our first anniversary. We love how quaint the whole hotel is and there is so much to explore all around. We booked a king room but believe we ended up in a king suite. The room was so nice but it was on the corner of the first floor and […] SO noisy. We could hear loud cars and people leaving the bars late at night so that was our only complaint. We ate at Las Campanas (our fav Mexican restaurant), Duane's steakhouse (pricey but it was our anniversary) and had their brunch on Sunday (so much food!) We went to the pool for a couple of hours and they definitely need more chairs because there wasn't enough for how many people were there. We also had a few Casey's cupcakes and they are so good! Overall we loved the Mission Inn and only had minor complaints. We will be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Always wanted to stay here"
I was really impressed with the Mission Inn. Wished I could've stayed there longer. I read some reviews that said the walls were a little thin and you can hear your neighbors - yes, that was true but the hotel is a historical landmark that is 138 yrs old. Loved the original doors on the rooms - I felt like I was staying in a castle. Late that night, […] I went for a walking tour around the premises and up to the top level with my camera in hand. I woke up the next morning to the sound of birds chirping in the courtyard; what a great touch. *A special thank you to Ashley at the front desk who checked me in ... she went out of her way to be personable and charming. I definitely want to go back at some time ... for a romantic getaway. Overall, a fantastic experience in a very unique hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel is gorgeous. Very romantic and so rich with history. I ordered a steak quesadilla from room service and it was easily the best quesadilla of my life. I can't wait to go back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was stunning from top to bottom. If you walk in with shorts and a tank top you'll feel extremely underdressed. When my family got bored, instead of going out for a night on the town we found ourselves walking around the hotel to see all of the beautiful architecture. Every night we found another place to explore that we didn't notice before. […] When you check in they give you the history of the hotel which was interesting as well as a list of famous people that have stayed there from Anne Rice, Pink, Toby McGuire, and even a hand full of U.S. Presidents. Nixon was even married there. Very clean. Very comfortable. Would recommend this to everyone. 10 out of 10 times. You must stay here. You won't regret it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best place to stay in Riverside!"
Unique and beautiful, this hôtel and spa is a MUST if you need or want to be in the Riverside area. Great for families, romantic get aways , OR for a nice girls weekend!!! Spa is not outrageously priced, and is REALLY high quality. We were there for a soccer tournament - but now I want to go back just because of how great the hotel and services are. "A glorious, romantic, historical gem!!"
This absolutely beautiful, historical hotel is first-rate, in every way. This was my third stay, and each is better than the last. Starting with gracious front desk service, in the gorgeous, immaculate lobby, and heading up to the comfortable , romantic, spotless room with luxurious, white, down bedding, everything is perfect and picturesque. We arrived […] at 4, rested up a bit, then headed to the President's Bar for a signature drink (spiked watermelon lemonade (!) and passion fruit margarita), a stroll around the grounds to talk to the macaws in the courtyard and ended with a wonderful dinner in the on-site Mexican restaurant. After a great sleep we got Simple Simon sandwiches and Casey's cupcakes for lunch on the road and reluctantly headed out for a long drive home. What a perfect place - what a perfect stay!!!! "Beautiful by Day, Scary at Night"
The Mission Inn is a fantastic historical building! My daughter and I explored the grounds for hours (we are into photography, so we tried to capture everything). We felt very far from home here (even though we were not). Caution: once the surrounding stores close, the homeless come out & later in the evening, I could hear gangs fighting on the street. […] Keep your Windows closed! Don't go out on the balcony late! Also, be prepared to keep your car parked at the public parking ($15). There are no in and out privileges unless you pay for valet. Riverside has the appearance of fine culture during the day, but it is kind of scary once you scratch the surface. The Inn is a must see though! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I booked a room at the Mission Inn as a stopover point during a two-day trip. It is such a beautiful, interesting, historic place- we were thrilled to discover it- the pictures online don't do it justice! And then we were disappointed that we had to leave so soon... The staff were all very pleasant, the restaurants accommodate special diets- and have […] wonderful fare, the beds are comfortable, the pool is large and surrounded by beautiful trees and bougainvillea. It's quirky layout added to the spirit of the place. It took us a bit out of our way (about 20 miles south of I-10), but it is about 2 blocks from the highway (91?) exit. There are beautiful churches and lovely surrounding neighborhood. There is valet parking and self-park (around the corner). We really loved it and will definitely go back.
