This is a good hotel in vicinity of Acropolis. Just 5 minutes walk from metro station, New Acropolis museum, 10 minutes from Acropolis entrance.

The staff at Philippos Hotel were amazing! They were so accommodating and never said no to a request. We rented a car for two days and because parking is near impossible to find around the hotel, the staff moved their "no parking" signs and allowed us to park right in front of the hotel! Breakfast was great every morning and they were always so happy […] and pleasant to be around. My children received a lot of attention and hugs! The staff even brought us clean linens and towels at 2 o'clock in the morning within minutes of our phone call when one of our kids got sick in the middle of the night. And when I apologetically explained the situation to the maid the next morning, she quickly made me feel at ease and told me not to worry about it. We are Americans who currently live in Europe and this was the absolute best customer service we have received in the last two years! We just loved our stay here and HIGHLY recommend it to others, especially those with children! Read more

Great location, two minute walk to Acropolis Museum. Great restaurants nearby. Staff exceeds expectations.. Acropoli Metro closest metro. Metro is fastest way from the airport. Next best way is to take the 95X bus outside airport arrivals to Symntagna Square (last stop), then take a taxi to hotel. Five euros for the bus, four for the taxi.

This was our second stay at the Phillipos Hotel. The staff is helpful and very courteous. The location in the Plaka area of Athens is ideal for walking to shopping and site seeing. They are just two blocks from the wonderful athens Metro so you can fly in and be at the hotel for just the 6 euro fare in under an hour. Make sure your room is on the 2nd floor or higher and you'll be satisfied (1st floor was rudimentary, noisy and generally uncomfortable, particularly the shower). Bring your own washcloth... Towels, soap, etc are all provided but strangely no washcloths. As soon we arrived to the hotel the staff was very hepful, we asked for some water, and the "sweden lady" (I "dont remember her name )was so helpful, she served us three glasses of water on a tray. The location is outstanding you are within walking distance of all the major sights and the plaka which has many great restaurants and stores for shopping. This hotel is about the location. It is not a 4 or 5 star hotel for quality rather a 5 star for location. From what I could see your 4 and 5 star hotels will not have the location of this hotel. […] That being said the hotel is good for a good night sleep, the bed was comfortable, it was quiet, they provide a good breakfast included in the cost of the room. We absolutely loved this hotel. We had rolled into Athens off a 7 day cruise. This hotel was really great to us. The boat arrived at 8AM and our room would not be ready until 2PM. They let us leave our luggage in the lobby area near the desk so we could enjoy the day in Athens. You can see the Acropolis right from the hotel. The neighboorhood is amazing, […] clean, safe and wonderful. The are a large variety of shops and restaurants within 6 blocks or so. There is a tobacco shop to buy stamps,etc 1 block up the street. If you begin walking to the Acropolis it is a 5 minute walk. Right there you will find the Metro stop Acropoli. The area was perfect. We were coming and going at all hours and I never once was uncomfortable. Once we checked in our room was enormous and very clean and comfortable. Note: You must put the key in the light switch in order to get any power. There are several locations in Europe like this but it was first for me and took about 15 minutes for me to figure it out. We had a huge outdoor terrace looking out right at the Acropolis. We loved it at night! We went to the breakfast in the morning...What a spread! Eggs, cereals, pastries, fruits a large and filling assortment. The Acropolis Mueseum is at the top of the street. It also happens to be the same stop for the hop on hop off tour bus. The hotel staff was great to us. The prices are great. I will certainly stay here again the next time I am in Athens. Read more

I enjoyed my stay at the Philippos Hotel in Athens, Greece very much. The location right below the Acropolis and literally around the corner from the New Acropolis Museum couldn't be better for a visitor on a pleasure trip to the city. The hotel staff was knowledgeable and attentive. A very decent continental breakfast is included in the price of the […] room. As a guest at the Philippos, you also get advantages with its more upscale partner hotel around the corner, the Herodion, namely a discount on the very reasonably priced meals in its pleasant atrium garden restaurant and access to the Herodion's rooftop garden for a fabulous view of the Acropolis and the city of Athens. While I was in Athens, work stoppages due to measures being taken in Greece's debt crisis made travel around Athens difficult and forced me to cancel a trip to one of the islands, resulting in me having to stay two more nights at the Philippos than I had planned. The staff was very accommodating and helpful with providing me a room for those nights and with my questions arising from the lack of public transportation, closure of museums, monuments, etc. during the strike. In fact, I can say that it was thanks to the staff at the Philippos Hotel that I was able to enjoy my visit to Athens in spite of the circumstances in Greece at the time of my visit. I would highly recommend the Philippos Hotel given its wonderful location, helpful staff and competitive price considering the location and amenities offered. Read more

My wife and I stayed there for 6 nights. The location was pretty good. The hotel was very clean. The breakfast was pretty good. The only two things that would have made it better were if the internet were free and we could have had a double bed instead of twin beds. It's best if you have the Greek spelling of the hotel and/or the street name as well as a map. Take the X95 bus, then the Metro and you are within about 4 Greek blocks of the hotel. The rooms are nicely furnished, air conditioned (only works when the room key is placed in the controller). No shower, a bathtub with a hand held shower......but it works. […] The staff are very helpful and friendly! The room safe comes in very handy, do use it! A trip to the roof patio with a drink and camera are a must at night. Sit back in a chair in the evening and enjoy the view of the Acropolis and Parthenon. Not sure what the problem was at the Philippos, but since we were 3 people traveling, I think it was the room type we needed was available at the other hotel. The staff at both hotels were great. We couldn't have stayed in a better location. Only a block and a half from the new Acropolis Museum and a few more blocks to the Acropolis itself. Metro station, fabulous restaurants, and great shopping were all very close by. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was simple but very good - rolls, olives, fruit, yogurt, cheese, […] juice, coffee... The room was very small, which took some getting used to, but kept clean and comfortable and we were there for the sights, not the room. Rate was very affordable - we stayed in the off season, so I don't know how to compare it to rates during high season. Bring wrinkle-free clothes if you can, as there are no irons allowed in the rooms. There is a 24-hour laundromat a couple of blocks away which is a much better deal than paying the hotel rates for laundry. Also, wifi is available, but not free. There are several cafes that offer free wifi that are very close, though the hotel rate was affordable and most of the time I just used it there. No restaurant in the hotel, though they offer a 10% discount at their sister hotel restaurant around the corner, where the service was fantastic and the food very good. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it highly. Read more

the hotel was very clean. the staff was helpful in every way possible. as to be expected, the room was small, but the bed was comfortable. bathroom was tiny and awkward to use. especially the shower. the breakfast was European style (hard boiled eggs, rolls, sandwish meats, cheese, some cereals, and cakes). there was a bar, but you basically need to […] mix the drink yourself. the room did not come with free wifi (which for the price i think it should), but free internet in the business center. negative was the a/c in the room. the hotel kept the rooms at 24 C. which may be to hot for some people. they did finally lower the temperature in the room after i came out in the middle of the night sweaty and irritated. the location is great. on the corner of the Acropolis museum, which has its own subway station (2-3min walk). close to to the Acropolis and the temple of zeus (10min walk). plaka district (5min walk). everything else is a few minutes away via subway. i was traveling just my wife and i never felt unsafe. the price for the room was okay considering similar priced hotels area. don't expect much luxury. this hotel is clean and comfortable. We stayed here both upon arrival in Greece and also for the last few nights before departing for back home. The first room was marginal...very small and the double bed was bad enough that neithe of us slept well. The second stay was much better, probably because we requested a better room, letting the reception staff know that our previous room was […] not acceptable. The room was small by American standards (think Microtel, but without as much storage space). There was no place to put the luggage and still walk around the bed. The room was poorly lit -- I could read in bed, but it was too dark to read at the tiny desk. The bathroom was well lit and had a full-size tub with a shower attachment. The cost of outgoing telephone calls, even within Athens, seemed high, although I have nothing to compare it to in Greece. Overall, I'd rate it as a good value for tourists on a budget, who can tolerate the cramped rooms. Read more

We stayed at the Philippos the night before and two nights after a "Classic Greece" coach tour. The location was great... about two block from the New Acropolis Museum and the walk up to the Parthenon. It also had easy access to the Plaka & we felt comfortable walking to there at night. We had them store some luggage when we went on our tour and again the day we left for the return flight home.
