Situated in the middle of a city block, it is not really close to a street & the cab driver didn't know the easiest access through a parking area. The nicely equipped room, with two bathrooms, was situated on two levels; guests need to know about having to climb steep narrow stairway to access sleeping level.

My friend and I stayed for 1 night in this hotel. We booked a Classic room with two single beds. Overall, the room was cosy but much smaller than expected. We visited in July and understandably the air conditioning was cooling the room. The problem is that regardless of the settings of the air conditioning, the room was always a bit too cold for our […] taste. We ended up sleeping curled up in our blankets to keep ourselves warm. Another thing I didn't quite like was that although we had access to internet in the evening, when I tried to connect on the morning (before checking-out) there was an error message saying that we are not checked in. I guess the system assumes that since we were only there for one night, we should not be granted internet access upon waking up in the morning. Hours before the check-out time! Finally, at about 8am, when we were just waking up, we heard how somebody unlocked our door, opened it, and then closed it without coming in. I immediately jumped out of my bed, rushed to the door, opened it and saw a woman standig in the hallway. She apologized but didn't say anything more. I assume she was the cleaning lady. But still, this unexpected visit so early in the morning disturbed me and my friend. Overall, I would say we paid for a 4-star hotel (that indeed looks like a 4-star one) but got service as if it was 3-star at most. My advice would be: book it if you get a deal on the price, but don't spend too much on it. Read more

The hotel was quite nice and the location was very convienient. Only two complaints: #1 there were only two electrical outlets in the room, and both were behind the tv (and in use). I had to ask for a long power bar to use my computer near the ethernet cable. #2 Internet was quite slow, even in the lobby (and no wireless in the rooms).

The hotel wasn't in the center of town but was a quick walk to everywhere we wanted to go. The room was small, as most European hotel rooms are, but very clean and nicely decorated. The service was great. We would certainly stay here again.

We booked on the secret hotel deal - and got a very good price for two nights. I loved the historic feel of the building in its cobbled arcade, the location is very convenient for the City Airport Train (CAT) and the U4 tram for getting to Schoenebrunn Schloss; it's a little outside the touristy centre but not too far to walk. I emailed the hotel in […] advance with two special requirements (relating to stairs and bed) - they never replied but the room we got was perfect on both counts, so I'm not sure whether we were lucky in room allocation or whether the management made special arrangements for me. There's a pub around the corner called Bierteufl which serves fantastic Austrian food (schnitzel, spaetzle, etc) at a cheap price and has a good selection of beer and were still serving when we arrived late on a Friday night (11.30ish) when everywhere else was closed. Excellent location from airport - CAT train stops some hundred meters from the hotel - also U4 and U3. Interesting neighbourhood with variety of dining places, close to city center. Hotel is very nice, in old fashioned style. Free Internet in our room and 2 computers for free to use in the lobby.

This is a great hotel if you want to be near the centre of Vienna but don't want to pay an arm and a leg to be right in the centre. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the station but the road has bumpy pavers so not so great with luggage. The room was an unusual design. There was a bedroom and a sitting room which was nice but the bathroom was located in one and the toilet in the other. Overall, I was impressed by the Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier. The staff spoke good English, efficient and helpful. The hotel is situated a little bit outside the historic centre but is in easy walking distance (or a short metro ride for lazy people) from the main sites in the centre of town. It is close to a direct metro route to the Schunbrunn. Our […] room was spacious with a good size bathroom with all the accessories you need and a good shower. The TV had a few English news channels but no entertainment and was located rather awkwardly in a position where it was only viewable from 1 bed (out of 3 in the room). The beds were comfortable, except that if you are tall you might object to the wooden 'bars' at the end of the bed restricting your feet. Room was quiet (and ours was the noisiest in the hotel being at the front whilst most overlook a quiet arcade), and good curtains mean you won't be woken by bright sunshine. A buffet breakfast was included and was a real highlight. A good selection of fruits, cold meats, pates and cheeses, breads and pastries, jams and preserves, together with hot bacon, egg, sausage, and beans (on the weekend). Coffee, juices and a variety of teas. Really good way to start the day and kept us powering through to a late lunch / early dinner. The corridors to the rooms could do with a paint, new carpet and replastered ceilings. But thats a small gripe. Read more
