"Good location and comfortable"
Great location. Easy walking to French Quarter Warehouse Districts and located next to the lovely Lafayette Park. No breakfast but good (pricey) food available at the attached steakhouse for dinner (dont know about lunch). My room was clean, comfortable and roomy but this is not a cookie cutter chain hotel (which I dont care for). Its an older building […] and plays as such. Would be happy to stay there again. "Bad experience; stay elsewhere"
Bad: Noisy- most of the rooms face a busy street that the streetcar runs down. Age- Old hotel and it shows. Heating system is so old my room couldn't warm up to even 70 degrees. Staff- Maid barged in on me when I was undressed. She didn't even knock. They were also doing noisy renovation work at 7 in the morning. Parking- wanted to charge $31 for valet. Good: Location- […] convenient to most attractions Bed- comfortable Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"AMAZING hotel great price. Restoration call first"
Amazing, beautiful, old hotel bargain priced in a safe business district blocks from the French Quarter. Elegant, huge rooms restored to the their 1903 shine.Friendly staff. Also restaurant and nice romantic bar in hotel. One draw back it appears restoration/fixing is on-going and I got lucky. PLEASE call first.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife and i came on our honeymoon. We had a great experience here. Nice people, clean rooms, super safe neighborhood for walking at night-which was a big deal to us. Would stay here again if we go to New Orleans again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old school hotel, old school service"
Overall my stay was fine. However, i booked four days and placed two nights each onto two separate cards. When arrived, only one reservation was listed. The next day the other showed up and the front desk reassured me i could stay in my current room for all four days. The next morning the front desk calls asking why i hadnt checked out. It was a huge […] inconvenience, and they made me swap rooms onto an entirely different floor! No apology or compensation. Also the housekeeper walked in twice while i stayed without knocking. Obviously a big lack of communication and also no parking. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older Hotel in Business District"
An older hotel in the Business District in many ways. Being next to the courthouse and Lafayette Square adds a nice touch. The staff is great and very helpful, but the hotel shows its age so much. Old TVs, no refrigerators or microwaves, musty smell in hallways covered by air freshers, aging plumbing and fixtures, and very little in the way of modern […] conveniences so many of us are used to. Great neighborhood and close enough to Bourbon Street to walk. Good place to sleep with comfortable beds and pillows. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming old Hotel in Great condition."
Excellent value! The suites are HUGE and charming. Ideal location for everything, on the St Charles streetcar line. Staff was Very helpful. The 1 thing you should ask for is a Quiet room.....the Big Easy is a Noisy town. It was Great to see NAWLINS' Flourishing after Katrina and the Recession!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Check out time is non-negotiable"
The room and the staff were excellent; until check out. I was on a conference call and although check out was at 11:30, I requested a 12:00 check out. I was given a shocking response, “absolutely not”. At 11:30 exactly, the room phone rang I was told to leave immediately or I would be charged another night. I finished the call in the hallway, but I […] left having a negative feeling about the whole experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Conveniently close without the chaos."
We enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the hotel staff. They were very friendly and helpful. Good food was very nearby, you could breakfast at Between The Bread almost directly across the street or at Cafe Square a block away. The trolly went right past the hotel and was fun and convenient to ride.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good service but old installation and beds!"
The service was good! but the bed were too old and the sofa bed was broken and they could not fix it. the valet parking is the same that fix your room and do a lot of things in that big hotel...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The best possible value"
The hotel was charming and perfectly clean. Its location is really interesting: about 10 minutes walking from the French Quarter, and a streetcar line is directly on the same street. Two cute cafés are close (less than 3 minutes walking), so it is very convenient. If I go back to New Orleans, I chose this hotel without any doubt!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good stay and get away."
Our stay was very satisfying. The hotel is in the process of upgrading everything, but for the time being there was no towel bar or toilet paper holder in the bathroom. The entire staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Slow check in, computer system down. No wireless reception in room and no Ethernet chords available at the desk. Spacious and clean room. Nice southern charm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a fabulous night at this older hotel. It was convenient to restaurants and Poydras. The beds were very comfortable. The view in our room was nonexistant. The only thing it needed was more light sources. I would stay again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely overnight stay"
The hotel staff was very nice and friendly. I know most people want a view with their room but I liked that my room did not face the street, it gave me the best night sleep I've had in awhile. I loved the fact that I had all the hot water that I wanted for my baths. The room was also very nice and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great three nights"
stayed at hotel three nights , everything was great , however some bottle water would go a long way towards making for a better stay. room was great , service was great , location was great but I suggest the hotel think about putting bottle water in rooms even for a small fee,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walk for Art Sake"
The hotel was fantastic!!! From the minute we arrived the door person/ valet was right there to take my car & luggage. Reception/ check- in was very quick & gave good suggestions for dining. The room was very nice & spacious. Great location for both uptown & the French Quarter. I would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"At the Laff."
We had a relaxing time in out room. We especially enjoyed the fact that the Laffette was an old establishment and the up keep and cleanliness was superb. We would stay there again if in the New Orleans area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wifi Poor. No Breakfast. Bar and Restaurant Closed Down. Only redeeming qualities were nice location and nice staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Bad, But....."
Don't stay in a front room. The street cars run and run and run, and you hear them very well, even on the fourth floor. The only ice machine is on the second floor, no waste can in the bathroom, and you can't check in until 4PM. The room was nice enough and the staff was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
construction in the room next door to ours with drilling and the workers using profanity while working.Had to go over where they were and ask them to hold it down. Not good for us seniors who wanted to relax in the morning and there was a two hour time change which made my local time 6am.Housekeeping kept forgetting to empty the trash and a piece of […] toilet paper set in the corner of the bathroom for four days so I know they never mopped the bathroom or swept the floor. "Nice hotel conveniently located in French Quarter"
We will return here. great staff and squeaky clean hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
The rooms were spacious, I had a nice view from the fourth floor. The location is perfect if you're planning on doing things other than just Bourbon Street. Centrally located between the Convention Center and the French Quarter. Staff was very friendly, and the neighborhood is great for wandering around..plenty of restaurants and shops. The only negative […] is that I couldn't figure out how to get the shower to work..the tub felt like an old residential tub, and I couldn't find anything that would activate the shower head. It was awesome. We enjoyed the location and the charm the hotel had. The rooms we stayed were great. They had a feel of old charm but with modern furniture. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was around 5 blocks from Canal St and French Quarters but we had no problem walking to everything never […] used our car. The streetcar stopped right in front of the hotel so that was a plus. First time to NOLA that we decided to stay an extra night and when we called the front desk they had no problem arranging our stay. Loved it!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff was fantastic. Hotel is very well maintained. Good location just far enough away from the quarter but not too far for walking. My only recommendation would be next time to ask for a room not facing St Charles as I could hear street noise and the Streetcar clearly. Otherwise it was a great boutique hotel experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I really enjoyed my stay. Older property that has been well-maintained. Very cozy and comfy. Staff was extraordinarily nice and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad Timing? Good value, but wouldn't repeat..."
We stay in NOLA often for quick getaways, reunions with friends, football games, etc. and have the opportunity to stay in many hotels. I was excited about the Lafayette because we prefer quaint, charming hotels with local flair. The entrance and décor are nice. The room itself was clean and comfortable; however, the bathroom needs updating in a major […] way. The fixtures are rusted and the toiletries are subpar for a hotel that portrays old New Orleans elegance. Besides that, we were on the 4th floor and LOTS of construction was going on to the point that I really felt the hotel should not have booked rooms on that floor. When we exited the elevator, there was a ton of furniture and mattresses to walk past and through, quite a bit of workers, and sheet hung down the middle of one hall (not sure why when all of the tools and furniture were out in the elevator landing area and stacked all the way to our room making the area uncomfortable and narrow, smelly)... the floor smelled musty, as most construction sites do. Upon checkout, we mentioned to the front desk (staff was very friendly and helpful) that we really felt we should not have been booked on that floor and she agreed but there was no offer to remedy or say that it would be passed on to management. Location is great -- close to the dome and the excitement of the quarter. We did take a cab to Café du Monde, though. Hope this helps! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"somewhat old fashioned, basically well kept up"
Would call this hotel good, but not an option here...Not sure if pleasing is appropriate, but would call it more than ok.... Out of the hustle and bustle, pretty well kept up old fashioned decor, but room was dark. No overhead lights and lamps did not really provide enough light. Some difficulty putting make up on in bathroom, and had trouble distinguishing […] clothing in drawers. Nice sized room, and comfortable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"My go to hotel in New Orleans"
I have been working on a project in New Orleans for the past two years, and have traveled to New Orleans at least once a month during this time period. I have sampled a number of the hotels in the CBD and have found that the location, quality, and especially the price of the Lafayette simply cannot be matched. Fantastic location, both rooms I have stayed […] in have been clean and comfortable, and staff are all very friendly. The only thing that could be considered a drawback is the ability to hear the street car go by, but I personally enjoy it as it reminds me of when I used to live in New Orleans on St. Charles. It really is no worse than being near a busy airport in terms of noise level. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Highest quality of service we've ever experienced!"
Our stay at The Lafayette Hotel in New Orleans was a celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary. I picked THE BEST hotel! The staff was exemplary in their assistance and explanation of local activities. Because it is a smaller hotel, they are able to focus more easily on each traveler. We never waited more than two minutes for our car to be delivered […] by the valet. The staff is continually cleaning--even vacuuming the rug outside by the main interest. We will definitely stay at The Lafayette Hotel during our next get-away! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our visit to New Orleans and found the room close to city activity. Rooms were clean, staff friendly and prompt with service. Showers had exceptional pressure and loads of hot water! Restaurant did not serve breakfast nor did hotel have any vending machines.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was nice...not extravagant but well taken care of. Maid service was on the spot and accommodated sleeping in (after the inevitable nights out on Bourbon st). The walk to the quarter isn't too bad but, does get old after a couple of days...it takes about 15/20 mins of walking to get there. A lot of people mention the street car line running in […] front of the hotel...good luck getting on it; we were there for 4 days and the cars are ALWAYS jammed packed. (The green line is apparently the most popular of all and, it is the one that runs down St Charles). All in all not a bad place to stay....we enjoyed it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
