"My go to hotel in New Orleans"
I have been working on a project in New Orleans for the past two years, and have traveled to New Orleans at least once a month during this time period. I have sampled a number of the hotels in the CBD and have found that the location, quality, and especially the price of the Lafayette simply cannot be matched. Fantastic location, both rooms I have stayed […] in have been clean and comfortable, and staff are all very friendly. The only thing that could be considered a drawback is the ability to hear the street car go by, but I personally enjoy it as it reminds me of when I used to live in New Orleans on St. Charles. It really is no worse than being near a busy airport in terms of noise level. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Highest quality of service we've ever experienced!"
Our stay at The Lafayette Hotel in New Orleans was a celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary. I picked THE BEST hotel! The staff was exemplary in their assistance and explanation of local activities. Because it is a smaller hotel, they are able to focus more easily on each traveler. We never waited more than two minutes for our car to be delivered […] by the valet. The staff is continually cleaning--even vacuuming the rug outside by the main interest. We will definitely stay at The Lafayette Hotel during our next get-away! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our visit to New Orleans and found the room close to city activity. Rooms were clean, staff friendly and prompt with service. Showers had exceptional pressure and loads of hot water! Restaurant did not serve breakfast nor did hotel have any vending machines.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was nice...not extravagant but well taken care of. Maid service was on the spot and accommodated sleeping in (after the inevitable nights out on Bourbon st). The walk to the quarter isn't too bad but, does get old after a couple of days...it takes about 15/20 mins of walking to get there. A lot of people mention the street car line running in […] front of the hotel...good luck getting on it; we were there for 4 days and the cars are ALWAYS jammed packed. (The green line is apparently the most popular of all and, it is the one that runs down St Charles). All in all not a bad place to stay....we enjoyed it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Amazing Hotel Staff"
I was in town for a wedding and had some down time to see the sights by myself.... Hotel staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in assisting me to find fun outings. Very attentive to my needs and even when I had a minor room issue, they switched my room immediately! We really enjoyed the nostalgia of this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly. We were within walking distance to everything we wanted to do and see. We easily walked to Bourbon Street and to the World War II Museum and any other eating place we wanted to try.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best trip we've had to New Orleans in awhile"
My husband and I used to live there so we are very familiar with the areas. I think that most newbies who go are more interested in either the garden district uptown or the French Quarter both of which are great, but will eat your money up in a heartbeat just with lodging alone. The Lafayette is in the Central lBusiness District and on the streetcar […] line. You can get anywhere you are going in just a few minutes as and off street parking was never a problem. We had a great time, the staff was wonderful and accommodating and even found us a great deal on our room when we decided to stay an extra day. Our room was spacious and wonderful and I don't see myself staying anywhere besides the Lafayette on our future trips. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to all must-see sights - great location"
Excellent staff, very friendly and accommodating. Room was very clean and well kept. Great location. Definitely would stay again. Restaurant for breakfast at hotel would have been nice but other eating places were close enough to walk to.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great old local hotel"
It was small and personal, the staff was courteous and attentive. Felt more like a nice apartment with a doorman and personal concierge. I would rather a historical building like that over a huge cold hotel with no personality.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"overall very nice, great staff, some minor glitches"
The hotel is beautiful and the staff were friendly and very nice. They were in the process of updating everything in the rooms so some things were new such as bed and drapes. The room was clean but could have used a 2nd chair for sitting and relaxing in. Minor glitches such as a know missing on a drawer, stopper missing from tub, but overall very nice. "Intimate Hotel in a Big City"
We were there to attend the Amerivespa Event and decided not to stay at the host hotel, which was the Hilton near the convention center. After a couple of times of being at the Hilton for the events, I appreciated the Lafayette even more. The Lafayette staff in every level were kind, personable, & helpful. The hotel was small and intimate, making us […] feel very much at home and like a special guest. The room was larger than we anticipated & more than we needed. The decor was warm and traditional. There are a few upgrades that need to be done such as the plumbing and brass in the bathroom, but that is not a complaint, just an observation. I would certainly stay here again. "Great place for a great rate -internet is horrible"
This is a really nice place to stay. I was only there for one night but I was super comfortable and had a good night's sleep. The place is kind of old which is charming, but the bathroom might look a bit too old actually - but there is nothing wrong with it. Nice big and clean rooms and beds. Don't come here for the internet though. You pay $5 for the […] password, and the speed is slower than my 56K modem in 1997. It was rude to take money for that kind of internet but unfortunately I didn't have time to get my $5 back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I was greatly impressed with my stay at this hotel. I was eagerly welcomed and presented with great helpful hints in navigating the city. "I love the Lafayette!"
Best room and staff in NOLA especially for the priceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. When we arrived, we found the handle of one of the shower faucets had come off. We reported it to the front desk and it was soon fixed. Drinks in the lounge were a little expensive; we didn't try the dining room. The location close to Canal Street and a streetcar stop which was convenient. […] On the other hand, there weren't many eating places around which was somewhat of a problem in the morning. We had breakfast at a nearby cafe that was overpriced and not that good. On subsequent days, we skipped breakfast and had a great brunch at one of the many eateries in the French quarter that was just a couple of blocks away. Despite the lack of close restaurants, we would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Everything was great! Except..."
My husband and I decided on New Orleans for our honeymoon. First time ever for us. We had great service by Art the bellman, greeted us very nicely. We were excited to see such a beautiful hotel until we entered and met the front desk. Very condescending in her responses to our questions. This took away from our comfort level staying there as I felt […] discomfort and reluctant in calling the front desk knowing that if I needed anything would require me to speak with this individual. THE HOTEL WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN. WE ENJOYED OUR STAY. IT WAS VERY CLOSE THE THE PARTS OF THE CITY THAT WE WANTED TO SEE. STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL. VERY QUITE. "What a Mistake!"
My husband and I were looking forward to a getaway with our daughter, a student at LSU. Initially, the outer facade of the hotel was clean. However, upon entering the "king size suite" that we reserved, I was horrified at the condition of the room! The bathroom wasn't clean and had rusted fixtures, worn carpeting, filthy/worn furnishings, and the sofa […] bed did not work. Upon contacting the front desk, my husband was informed that they new the soft bed wasn't functional. They sent a rollaway bed to the room. It was left in the bedroom unmade! I contacted Hotels.com and informed them of the situation. The representative contacted the hotel and we were suddenly moved to another king size suite that obviously had been refurbished! Later, my husband had left the room to get some ice (which is only available on another floor). While exiting the elevator to return to our room, he was approached by a maintenance staff member who rudely informed him that he was on the 4th floor. My husband stated that he had a suite on the floor. The maintenance staff person was shocked to hear this news! After touring they city, I was irritated to see all of the other hotels that were available and much nicer and located in the center of the action! If you want to ensure that you receive 4 star accommodations, I strongly suggest you avoid the Lafayette Hotel! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice but overpriced"
In for personal event, and location was quite good, and right on the trolley system. The hotel was clean, the staff helpful, and the room spacious with a nice view. "Lacking in helpfulness"
When called and asked about shuttle to hotel from airport told just get taxi was going to cost the same cost me $13.00 + 5.00 tip more than shuttle would have. When I called downstairs and asked if they had a vending machine I was told no in a very rude manner and when I asked about was there any where near to get breakfast I was told a block away was […] a coffee shop. Which in turn there was one within 3 doors down across the street. The reason I was hunting for a vending machine or coffee shop was for a diabetic person whose sugar levels were dropping and I needed to get a coke or orange juice but I was treated as I was asking for something beneath the level of this hotel I do not think I will be going back to this hotel. "Disappointing hotel stay"
The hotel was too far from Bourbon Street. room was dark and outdated. Couch had stainsGenuine Expedia guest review
The staff was excellent and willing to help with any food suggestions. The location was about .33 miles from Bourbon St. which cut down on noise level and drunk people. The neighborhood was very safe and easy going. "Convenient to sights"
We really enjoyed our stay at the Lafayette Hotel. It is within walking distance to the French Quarter but if you'd prefer the trolley stops right in front of the hotel and a $3 one day jazzy pass will take you any where you want to go. We had a great experience here. The staff was friendly and very helpful when we needed suggestions for breakfast or to call a taxi. The room was large and the curtains kept the room dark. This was the perfect spot to stay to watch the parade as it went right past. The room was HUGE and I loved the marble in the bathroom. Very classic style and a nice change from the chains. Front desk girl was very friendly and helpful, even after we'd checked out and left our Muses shoes in the bathroom! (Yes she retrieved them for us.)Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location in NOLA but that's about it"
Great location and beautiful property. The rooms are spacious and clean, however lighting is terrible, plumbing could use and upgrade too, TV is awkwardly fixed on wall and street noise is terrible.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was a little down at the heels, but quite pleasant. I probably had the worst room in the hotel, as my 2nd fl. entire view was the HVAC unit and a sliver of the Fed. Bldg. next door - no sky. Staff was not terribly helpful in re-location.-=\Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel only 3 blocks from French Quarter"

"Going back home was not fun"
My wife and I are locals from New Orleans, but we currently live overseas. We were back home for a while and decided to stay in town. The reviews seemed like this was a diamond in the rough. Well, it was rough. Before I say anything else, the service was great. The employees were all friendly and helpful. The serious issues were noise. The hotel is […] old, and another commenter stated the walls were paper thin. Well, paper thin would have been better than what we had. We had a room next to us that was adjoined through double doors. We heard everything in every room around us. Every door opening, hair dryer, toilet flush, tv that was in any room adjacent to us we heard. Loudly. The St. Charles streetcar came by and it sounded like it was in our room. The windows and wall had no proper insulation and you could hear people talking outside the hotel like you were there. Then there was construction outside the hotel that started at 6 am that woke us up....not that we'd slept very much. The bathroom was grimy and hadn't been updated in what seemed like years. Oh, and lest I forget, the wifi was $5 a night and it couldn't be used. You could connect, but it was at best 1 bar and you couldn't actually load anything. We were told "that's just how it is". "Perfectly good hotel"
The staff were very friendly and really went out of their way to make things good. The room is a little bit dark (they said they will be doing a remodel to upgrade the room lighting) and there was a weird whistling in our ventilation system...not enough to keep us awake, but enough to notice. They said they'd try to track it down. But the hotel itself […] is quite nice and the location/price ratio is terrific. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient Location, Average Hotel"
The location of this hotel is hard to beat if you have business in the downtown area. The hotel is clean and the bed was comfortable. Service was average, overall.
