"new Orleans in August"
room very comfortable and clean...just the right distance from French Quarter...walking distance....street car does travel next to hotel but this is stated in all descriptions of the hotel....walls thin and we had a crazy couple next door that fought and fornicated for daysGenuine Expedia guest review
"NICE NEW ORLEANS STYLE HOTEL"
HOTEL IS VERY OLD AND THE ROOMS SHOW IT, BUT THEY WERE PRETTY CLEAN AND STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL. I WOULD STAY AGAIN.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent Staff and far enough from the night life"
The Streetcar is loud if you stay in a room facing St Charles. We were still able to have a good night's rest though. Other than that, a nice place and cheap.Genuine Expedia guest review

- wonderful location -great staff -clean clean clean ! -huge room -recently renovated -super comfy bed -had a little issue with the shower but it was solved quickly -would definitely stay there againGenuine Expedia guest review
We were pleasantly surprised. This hotel is about 4 blocks away from the French Quarter, but it is ok to walk it, if you don't mind walking a little. The rooms could use a little updating, but overall it was a very nice stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting New Orleans. Friendly hotel staff. Great rooms. I will stay again in this hotel when I comeback To New OrleansGenuine Expedia guest review
Located in Center of Commerce & Businesses of New Orleans . Tourist shall be enjoyable with all city atmosphere & crown environment but you may not see it in other cities w/ living style like this else where .Worth it .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a very nice hotel. The room and bathroom was spacious and very clean. The staff was very, very friendly and helpful. I got only a little frustrated when we were getting ready to leave though because the cleaning service kept knocking on our door to see if we had left yet so she could clean our room! She was a pest. I had to stop what I was doing […] to open the door and I told her we were trying to get ready to leave a couple of times. This was after my husband had already told her a couple of times. Other than that this place was terrific. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for business"
The hotel is well located on the St. Charles trolley line about 2 blocks from Poydras. I did not find the trolley noise objectionable, but a light sleeper might. The room turned out to be a suite with 10 foot ceilings and large windows, but the heavy velvet curtains provided ample room-darkening capability. I left my Blackberry at the hotel and the […] staff were very helpful in recovering and forwarding it to me. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Able to walk to the restaurants and sight see"
We enjoyed ourselves very much taking in the town. It was an interesting stop over on our vacation. The front door lady was very helpful and polite, the front desk man was also very helpful! We enjoyed speaking with both of these fine people. We have no complaints. We recommend this hotel on your next stay in New Orleans!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Amenities need to be updated. No Fridge or microwave in the room. Nice elegant decor. It's a good place to sleep. Not made for entertaining or long stays.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"very helpful staff.....rooms need updates"
The visit to New Orleans was great ..the rooms need an interior designer......Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I really enjoyed it. Very clean and homey feeling.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Too much noise. Couldn't sleep because of the noise from the outside and the neighbors in the next sweet. Walls are too thin. Need sound proof wall in that location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"As always, great deal and great stay"
Love the staff here. Love the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice quiet area, but close to all sights"
I loved my stay. Polite staff, clean large rooms. I would have liked a street view room, the St Charles street car would have been loud but I like that sort of charm. The area is quiet and clean. Just close enough to walk to all the sights but removed enough to have the peace from all the drunks. I would stay here again. "Great hotel close to all New Orleans attractions"
I was a little nervous about choosing a hotel that was one of the big names such as Hilton or Marriott but as soon as I arrived I could tell I made a good choice. It had a lot of charm and a European, boutique hotel appeal. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I booked my room, I thought only two people would be in the room but we added a friend […] to our trip plans and the concierge upgraded the room to a suite so we would have enough room ($20 a night). The only downside to the hotel was parking which was $31 a night and not included in accommodations. We found a way around that so we did not have to pay so much. The hotel was close to the trolley which was convenient. It was only a mile to Café du Monde and a little further up was the French Market. You can easily walk to Bourbon from here or catch a trolley. The other upside was that it was quiet, I did not hear any neighboring guests and there was not any street noise since it was next to a park and in the central business district. There were also a lot of good places to eat nearby. Unfortunately during the weekend, many of the places to eat are closed around the hotel because it is near the central business district but if you venture to the tourist areas there are still plenty of places to eat. "Perfect place to stay!"
Great hotel, large rooms with nice view. The staff was most helpful and freindly. Cab was waiting for our 5:30 AM departure. Everything was perfect. Absolutley will return!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I appreciated the location because there were trolleys to get you around, and you could walk to some places. The hotel had a quaint charm to it, the room had working air, a comfortable bed, but the curtains were stained or dirty. The staff provided excellent service which was much appreciated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good, not Great"
Trolley goes by directly below the windows, but you don't hear it after a while. Great location, within walking distance to bars, cafes, restaurants, a grocery store, etc. Nothing fancy about the room or hotel though, but the staff was very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good location!"
Hotel a little old, still well maintained and clean. Nice staff, great location. Right on the street car route! Good hotel for the moneyGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful, can walk to most attractions"
We were looking for a romantic, quiet hotel that was still close to the NO attractions and this was a perfect fit. The streetcar goes right by the hotel and will take you fairly close to the Bourbon street area if you don't want to walk and it goes out to the garden district and the cemetaries as well. The hotel feels like you stepped back in time to […] the 1920's or so. Beautiful and very spacious room (not sure if ours was bigger than most... we were down on the end of the hallway). Really nice old hotel. We had a balcony suite overlooking St Charles avenue right on the trolley line. All the staff were very nice and helpful. No room service or easy place to get breakfast without leaving the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean hotel, great old building, close to trolley."
The staff welcomed you at the entrance and valeted our car. The hotel is super close Canal street and the French Quarter. St. Charles street trolley stop is across the street and it's a cheap and easy way to get around the area. The hotel itself was very clean, it's not a fancy hotel but full of old time charm. The shower was wonderful, lots of water […] pressure!!! Staff was warm, helpful and curious. I will deffinetly be coming back here the next time I'm in New Orleans! "Bed and breakfast fell"
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. when I first arrived thee first room had a light out in the restroom so to accommodate us we were showen 2 rooms to choose to be moved to. The room was large and the bathroom had large mirrors which were great for us girls doing hair and make up. I thought the hotel was a little far from the french quarter but not too […] far that you could not walk there. it was close to the casino and the art quarter as well. The street car also is conveniently located on the same street. "Not my favorite hotel"
The hotel looks nice from the outside. Our room on the other hand had smudges on the bed linens, and windows. We had neighbors next to us, and we could hear every word they said, the walls were paper thin. The Tv was absolutely tiny, and the floor looked dingy. All in all, I probably wouldn't stay there again given a choice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Needs Major Refit"
The hotel is well located and the staff was friendly. They have no gym. My room was never able to cool off below 74 degrees, even though thermostat was set lower. When I got into the room it was at 82, with 100% humidity is a serious concern in New Orleans. TVs are from the reagan administration. Shower did have shampoo. Towels are at least 10 years […] old. The sheets were threadbare. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Overpriced, under staffed and poor location, street car going by until 4 am very noisyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Staff was very friendly and treated with respect. They made our stay feel warm and welcome. Only thing they would need to upgrade the T.v's in the room but other then that it is a great hotel by far I have ever stayed in. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Great location with street care access. Bar tender lady made good drinks and when asked for special orders she made every effort to get ingredients she didn't have from the reasturant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value...great experience!"
The hotel's location is exceptional and their service is extremely good and personalized. Although is an old building, the property is well maintained and the rooms are spacious and very clean. The restaurant is top notch although pricey. One recommendation, avoid rooms with windows facing the central HVAC system as it is might be very noisy. "We love the Lafayette!"
The Lafayette is a perfect example of a New Orleans hotel! Perfectly clean and the staff was so helpful. Carly Jane went out of her way to offer services and to make our stay as comfortable as possible. It is a short walking distance to everything. We are already planning another trip, and excited to stay at the Lafayette again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Two adults, two kids. We spent two nights followed by a trip north and then back for a night. The front desk staff went over the top to take care of us. They remembered us when we came back through and continued to take really good care. Our balcony ended up looking over a live music and food festival...perfect. We liked the location right on the street […] car line. Will only stay here in NOLA from now on. Thanks Dwayne. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Should have been better"
Great location; this gem of a boutique hotel needs polishing. The room was very dim, and musty. We had to request an extra standing lamp. The drapes were falling down and in need of repair; there was no shades on the windows. It was a good size room that needed redecorating. The bathroom was large and the shower was fantastic; great pressure and hot […] water; they didn't get around to installing those water savers that turn the shower into a trickle. Again, the bathroom was very dark, not enough lighting. The hair drying should have been bolted to the wall instead of being kept on a shelf. The staff was very helpfull and attentive. There were no bathrobes as stated in the web site. This property could and should be restored/updated. It was still with all the imperfections a good 4 day stay. "upscale hotel - great for getaways"
My wife & I are from local suburban area and needed a room for two nights in city for my Daughters Wedding. Booked a suite at Lafayette Hotel through internet. Room was large, clean & just perfect. bed comfort was superior. Staff was very pleasant and met any request sent their way. Staff indicated they were about to go through a renovation to upgrade […] all the tv's (which we didnt even turn on during our stay ) to flat screens & wiring ( I didnt notice any wiring issue in our room or during our stay) In hotel Restaraunt was not open for bkfst is the only issue I can even think of but staff quickly directed us to closest PJ Coffee 1-1/2 block away Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I was really upset to find at check in time there was a 50 pet fee that hotels.com did not tell me about. I asked before booking and booked because they were pet friendly. There were no drink machines and the restraunt was not open. Closest place to get a drink or coffee was 3 blocks. The traffic kept me a wake through the night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"do not stay here...."
Old and not in a good way. I've stayed in many classic hotels that still manage to provide comfort. Broken tv, broken elevators, screaming baby through paper thin wall. Hear every spoken word through the wall especially where they had a door for adjoining room. The $5 nightly "internet package" got me less than dial up speed if it connected at all. […] No fixing of any of the issues and no apologies. Uncomfortable bed and the umpteen unknown stains on the carpet and drapes resembling blood were concerning. I choose this hotel based on the good comments and i was amazed how far off they were from the truth. Best aspect was theclose proximity to everything but that is it. Not recommended. "Wonderful Hotel For families and couples"
My Husband and I stayed in this hotel for just a night while enjoying New Orleans. This hotel is beautiful from the outside and just as beautiful on the inside.
