We only stayed one night but really enjoyed it. Hotel is a beautiful traditional style New Orleans. All of the employees were very nice and helpful. My bag was lost at the Airport and wasn't delivered to 4:30am.. Someone called and brought it up immediately. Was only a six block walk the Canal and Bourbon Street. Front Desk person even gave us discount […] tickets to a great restaurant too. Will stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming small hotel"
Best deal in the big easy. A Wonderful staff, very helpful and friendly. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Within walking distance of lots of New Orleans sites and places to eat. Construction noise was a little loud and got us up early. Nice place to stay overall, added bonus staff were very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to court"
Very nice rooms. Right on the street car line, so bring ear plugs. No room service and the restaurant does not serve breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent value for the money"
The hotel is kept clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Best thing about the hotel is location. If you stay at this hotel you can walk to the Superdome in 5 minutes plus you can take the bus from the airport and walk to the hotel in less than 5 minutes. The French Quarter is a 7 minute walk from the hotel. Really a great place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable overnight stay!"
I was so pleasantly surprised at how much room there was. It was literally a one bdrm apartment with full living room with pull out sleeper sofa, entry way, small dining area, and a full bedroom with its own tv & closet. I took the bdrm (could close the door & have privacy) & my teenage son & his friend stayed in the living room on the pull out bed. […] They had their own tv. Room was very clean. Huge bathroom & very friendly helpful staff for about $20 more than a large chain motel. I will def return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The room was a good size and the bed comfortable. A frig in the room would sure be nice. The weather was very cold so we had to spend quite a bit of time in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful Hotel, Great Staff"
Our stay was extremely pleasant. The only minor discomfort was the mattress in our room could use replacing, and the speaker had been blown out of the tv in the living room, but who comes to NOLA to watch tv? Beautiful room, very roomy and nicely decorated. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location is just a few minute walk to the quarter.... "Excellent Alternative to big-name chains"
Got a very good price on Hotels.com. It's an old building and the room I was in (I think I may have been upgraded to a suite) had a somewhat unusual floor plan, but it was very attractive and comfortable with fixtures and furnishings that might be called "vintage" (brass fixtures, tables that looked antique rather than "antiqued", often topped by pretty […] good porcelain objects). Since it's on St. Charles, you will hear the street cars at odd times of the night if you are a light sleeper. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Although I am fond of the Hilton on St. Charles just down the street, the Lafayette will probably become my 1st choice in NO. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place... Friendly staff"
My boyfriend and I stayed here for his birthday. The staff was super nice and eager to please. We had to stay an extra night because of winter storm leon. The rooms are nice and spacious. The only bad thing about the room was the bed. It was too firm for us and a little old\used. There was also construction going on on the street outside our room that […] woke us up on our last night at 5AM. I think they were fixing broken pipes though. All in all for the price I think this was a nice place to stay. When you are in New Orleans you don't spend a ton of time at the hotel anyways. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"it was ok"
the front desk people were not the most pleasant. The room was clean but old. The couch was so old you couldn't sit on it. The restaurant was closed so you had to go out for food. The concierge person ( I spoke with 2 of them) were both very nice and accommodating. Its in the financial district and basically the warehouse district. Checked in on Fri. 01/24/2014. Bellman got our bags in room and I realized there was no balcony. I had prepaid for a king suite with balcony. Went down to desk to question abt. changing rms. and was told there were no more rooms. I told the "person" that unfortunately I was a smoker and had requested a balcony rm., I was then told "the rms. are non-smoking". […] Okay, we went on abt our business at a conference came back abt 9PM, the room was freezing. NO HEAT! This was the day of the New Orleans ice storm! Called front desk, was told by this "person" would have it ck'd out first thing in morn. Yes, the room was freezing. Maintanence man came to ck, still no heat. The "person" at front dest brought us a portable heater! How generous! Later on Sat. afternoon someone came in and got heater to work. Manager called cell phone and left message "We are sorry abt any inconvience you have had, we are going to credit your M/C 150.00! Okay, at $$$ a night you would have thought they would have done somewhat more/better for the slight inconvience of freezing all night long. Last time for us to stay at the Lafayette! "Nice Hotel not too far from the French Quarter"
It was a nice place to stay and close to the spots I needed to go to so I was able to walk. French Quarter is maybe a 10 minute walk away. The bed was very comfortable but the walls are kind of thin. The entire staff was very nice and accommodating. I would stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice downtown boutique hotel"
We spent the MLK weekend at the LaFayette. When checking in to a King room, we asked, and they bumped us up to a very nice suite, with a living room, kitchenette and bedfroom. However the room had been freshly repainted and odorous, but for the 2nd and 3rd nights they moved us to a comparable suite. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The suite […] was a little tired, the living room couch sagged and needs to be replaced and the TV's were small and non-HD, but overall it was very comfortable. Valet parking is available. There is a trendy bar and also a restaurant next to the hotel, but we didn't patronize them. The rooms were a little noisy from the occasional trolley cars that run up and down St. Charles, but they didn't really bother us. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I totally ejoyed the period dressing of the room. Took us back to another time in the development of the area. We only stayed inthe room at night. We were always out from morning to night. The trolley stops right in front of the hotel which was great and it was 15 mins walk to French Quarter. Overall it was clean but it could use some renovating.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, easy access 2 all the attractions"
A good hotel to stay at, 10 minute walk to Bourbon and Canal streets and 10 minutes to Superdome. Small hotel, Very nice room, excellent bed. You can park 1/2 block away and save a few dollars. "Old-school boutique hotel with few frills."
Staying at the Lafayette was a pleasant but very no-frills experience, made more enjoyable by the responsive and friendly staff. The first room I was assigned to had a broken toilet, but the staff quickly moved me to a different room at my request. The public areas of the hotel are lovely and prettily restored, while the rooms are fairly unimpressive. […] The rooms themselves (if the two I saw are representative) are haphazardly laid out and updated. My first room featured a very, very small television that had to be 15 years old, placed such a distance from the bed, and even the couch, that it would be hard to watch. My second room had an updated flat-screen television, placed away from and parallel to the bed--also very hard to see. If in-bed hangover recovery time is part of your plan in NOLA, this may not be a great spot for you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad for the location"
The location and price where what put us here for the Sugar Bowl. The area was nice and we could get to Bourbon Street and the Superdome easily. Of all the hotels we have stayed at in N.O. this is by far our favorite. The hotel was so convenient to everything on our agenda. The quality of service was spectacular. The only inconvenience we experienced was the front […] sitting room had only one lamp and the room was rather dark which made it impossible for a second person to read, etc. I would strongly suggest another sofa end table lamp and perhaps a standing lamp behind the chair. The Hotel Lafayette would be an absolute gym... but the maintenance just was not up to snuff....lamps not working in the bathroom and the cover for the lamps was behind the toilet.... also a few dings in the room.. like I say this place could be a real gem...but the upkeep is definitely second rateGenuine Expedia guest review

It is an older hotel that is currently being renovated. Our room was large with a comfortable bed. "Friendly staff, good value."
The hotel was fine for my purposes (just staying 2 nights.) The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. No frills. The TV was terrible, like something out of 1990, but I wasn't in New Orleans to watch TV anyway. It was a quiet neighborhood and just a short walk to the French Quarter. The price was great. If I were going to be staying in NOLA for any […] longer stretch of time, I would probably want something a little nicer, but like I said, it is a great deal if you don't care about luxury. "Dirty, awkward and unloved"
Ohmygosh. Where do I start? Pictures online look great- from the outside looks charming. Get to our first room- whoa! Ok, hasn't been redecorated since the 80's... I'll try not to be a snob. BUT WAIT- the couch has stains all over it, as does the carpet. and the bed is bowed out in the middle! I called the front desk and they gladly gave us a 'nicer' […] room and from initial appearances it was- nicer/newer bed, had a living room, etc. However this room had paint peeling, hair gel (and hair) some other guest left still in one of the drawers, had the dirtiest bedskirt I have ever seen (clearly they don't wash those- I'm talking streaks of dirt on it from repeated use). So, it was awful. So awful when I saw an opened bar of soap in the bathtub, I initially freaked out because I couldn't assume it was my boyfriends but rather some other guest before us. That's how dirty this hotel is- it shakes your very core of confidence in what you can expect from a room. beware! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fabulous Hotel, but don't expect to sleep!"
Huge problem with noise. Our room faced the street (St. Charles) and it was horribly noisy from the streetcar line which runs and stops in front of the hotel.
