"Could have been better."
Hotel room was decent and the bed was clean but it was much firmer than I'm used to. Biggest dispappointment was the service at the restaurant. Was pleased at the beginning of our stay.. Hotel was nice, the kids loved the pool and we had complimentary breakfast in the restaurant all week. We got into our room and they are very nice.. I continued to return to the front desk every night as they only left two towels for us every day when there was four of us in the room. First time staying at the Red Deer Lodge, and we were very pleased over all. Rooms were very spacious, clean & comfortable. The noise level from the hall was quite noticeable, not very sound proof. This hotel's interior decor in the public areas looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1970's. There was a used towel and a lip gloss on the floor in my room. The menu in the restaurant is a bit limited, although the quality of the food is good, and the kitchen did prepare a special order (I am vegetarian, and there isn't much on the menu beyond […] a pasta dish and a salad). "Red Deer Disappointment"
The hotel room was tiny, not as the pictures on-line suggested! The carpet was very worn and the queen size bed that was advertised was only a full at best. The room that the bed was in was very small, I could touch the walls from either side of the bed. Storage was a real problem as there were no drawers or dressers for clothing. There was a small […] closet that also housed the ironing board but there was hardly any room in it after the jackets and one outfit were hung out. The bathroom was smaller than any hotel room bathroom that I have been in. The towel rack fell off of the wall after the first shower was taken. The pull out mattress was unusable for my daughter, as the springs poked through the mattress. The last thing that really was disappointing was that the complimentary breakfast was only served from 7 am until 9 am. While this may suit business travellers, it did not work for my family. 10 or 10:30 is the norm at other hotels that I have stayed at. I had heard from a couple people that this place was nice with good food, needless to say, it wasn't. I was very disappointed. The pictures online are very deceiving, they're from many years ago. The hotel is very dated. Upon arrival, we were greeted very kindly, and check-in was seamless, but we got into the smelly elevator and up to our room and all […] the pleasantries changed. The carpet on our floor was unacceptably stained, all over! The room stunk of stale cigarets and unwashed carpets, I didn't even feel comfortable standing on the floor WITH my shoes on. I called front desk and they immediately accommodated us and gladly moved us to a different room, one that was just freshly renovated! The new room was better, but still not to my expectations, the carpet still smelled, and the air felt stale because of the proximity to the courtyard. The courtyard was one of the main reasons I chose to book this hotel, but it was old, and stuffy. I pool wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be, and the hot tub (the biggest reason I chose this hotel) didn't have any seating in it! So we just hung out and stood awkwardly in the tub! The breakfast was not what they raved about as their "breakfast buffet" it was pretty limited and didn't even have any fruit! At least it was free! We stayed for the weekend. The room was clean but is in need of upgrading. There was trouble with the bathroom door and the tub needs to be replaced. There was a space under the room's door which made it quite noisy when people would walk by. I was awakened by someone's dog barking repeatedly at 3am. Also, our 10 year old got sick to her stomach in […] the night. We called the front desk to get some supplies to clean things up and were told that they would just use the bathroom towels anyway so just use that. I found that to be rather unhelpful and unsanitary. They should have at least offered to come collect them after we cleaned up.
