"Not like it was"
Visit was just ok. Chose it over another hotel because of the free breakfast advertised. Upon arrival found breakfast was only from 7 to 9. We missed it. Might have been better if it was on from say 7-11, but that's just me. Otherwise it was just a stay at a hotel. For what I got, I probably could have got the same for a much lesser price at another […] hotel in Red Deer. It was - nothing special. I came to Red Deer remembering it from the 1980's and what the Red Deer Lodge was like back then - conferences, the atrium, the giant chair in the lobby that people got their pictures taken in, Snifter's and Esmeralda's -- the Red Deer Lodge was a jewel then. Well, maybe Snifter's wasn't that great, and maybe we can be grateful the demographic doesn't support Esmeralda's anymore - but at least the Atrium was still there. However even it looked a bit diminished. If I was holding a conference and I wanted to impress people, I wouldn't have it at the Lodge - its overall appearance inside is unremarkable, and its outside is - well, shabby. "Clean hotel, Need of update."

"Could have been better."
Hotel room was decent and the bed was clean but it was much firmer than I'm used to. Biggest dispappointment was the service at the restaurant. This hotel is in serious need of not only upgrading, but attention to cleanliness. Our room had dirty grease boot prints on the carpet, it smelled of an unclean, unattended space. Was pleased at the beginning of our stay.. Hotel was nice, the kids loved the pool and we had complimentary breakfast in the restaurant all week. We got into our room and they are very nice.. Could use some upgrading on the TV's.. When we went to make coffee the following morning our coffee maker was dirty and as I am a very picking person I got very […] annoyed.. It then went down hill from there with housekeeping.. Our glasses were not changed all week. I continued to return to the front desk every night as they only left two towels for us every day when there was four of us in the room. Sheets are to be changed on day four which I understand but ours never did get changed and no vacuuming was done the whole stay. And there would be room service trays left in the hallway for days..Unfortunately for such a nice hotel my family will not be returning to this hotel in the future due to the housekeeping.. First time staying at the Red Deer Lodge, and we were very pleased over all. Rooms were very spacious, clean & comfortable. The noise level from the hall was quite noticeable, not very sound proof. The heat was already on in our room when we arrived, but we had to turn it off due to the noise of it running, turned out we didn't need it on in the end, […] as the room was rather warm. This hotel's interior decor in the public areas looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1970's. There was a used towel and a lip gloss on the floor in my room. The menu in the restaurant is a bit limited, although the quality of the food is good, and the kitchen did prepare a special order (I am vegetarian, and there isn't much on the menu beyond […] a pasta dish and a salad). "Red Deer Disappointment"
The hotel room was tiny, not as the pictures on-line suggested! The carpet was very worn and the queen size bed that was advertised was only a full at best. The room that the bed was in was very small, I could touch the walls from either side of the bed. Storage was a real problem as there were no drawers or dressers for clothing. There was a small […] closet that also housed the ironing board but there was hardly any room in it after the jackets and one outfit were hung out. The bathroom was smaller than any hotel room bathroom that I have been in. The towel rack fell off of the wall after the first shower was taken. The pull out mattress was unusable for my daughter, as the springs poked through the mattress. The last thing that really was disappointing was that the complimentary breakfast was only served from 7 am until 9 am. While this may suit business travellers, it did not work for my family. 10 or 10:30 is the norm at other hotels that I have stayed at.
