Downtown Seattle stretches along Puget Sound from historic Pioneer Square in the south to trendy Belltown in the north. In between, office towers, shopping gallerias, and brick condos line the leafy avenues. The convention center is here, as is Pike Place Market, where salmon fly. Don’t miss the futuristic main library. Seattle’s twin stadiums and the International District lie south of downtown.

We have been so happy with this hotel that we have stayed here three times. This has been over a period of a few years, and it's consistently rated well. The Sazarac next door is an inviting welcoming restaurant connected to the hotel. The room was spacious. The maintenance staff was very friendly. We asked to have the room cleaned at special times, and they were accommodating. The wine reception every evening was well attended and a nice bonus. The coffee in the a.m. was great. We would highly recommend.

We arrived in Seattle for the weekend and had 3 nights booked at the hotel. Our room was not ready, which was fine because we were there earlier than the 3 p.m. gaurentee. We asked to be called if the room became open before 3 p.m. Our call came at 5 p.m. So much for the gaurenteed 3 p.m. check in, but this disaster only got worse. When we got back to check in at 5 p.m. they quoted me the rate for my smoking room. I asked them what they were talking about because I don't smoke and had not intention of staying in a smoking room. They told me it was the last king suite and I would have to take it or accept a smaller room. I asked them what the rate would be for the smaller room and the front desk was not able to tell me because their manager would not be in until Monday. At this point I was upset and just took the smaller room rather than be put in a smoking room. It left a bad taste in my mouth for the entire weekend because the staff could have cared less. I would never recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family. Such a disappointment.

The hotel was beautiful and the location was great. The only problem is you have to pay $40.00 a night to park at the hotel. This was a very nice, comfortable hotel. We enjoyed our room, the decor of the hotel, and the nightly happy hour. The staff was very helpful with directions and times for public transportation. The hotel location was great for us as we were able to walk to most of the downtown "hot spots". We also loved the bakery/cafe across the street (Belle's Buns). I thought that the hotel restaurant was overpriced and the menu was not family friendly. No matter, there were plenty of wonderful restaurants nearby. All in all, a very pleasant stay - DO shop around for the best room price at this hotel.

Customer service was beyond excellence. They made our reservations for dinner at a restaurant outside of the hotel and made it very special. They have wine tasting in the evening and a continental breakfast in the morning. There are many hotels in Seattle that are great, you won't be disappointed with this one. I chose this hotel because of the star rating, good reviews, and jetted tub in the room. My husband and I stayed in the Mediterranean Suite for one night and thought it was very nice. Big room, big bathroom, and jetted tub. The view was of another building, but that's ok, and the bed was a little harder than I'm used to, but not bad. We were in a good spot to be able to walk to the downtown shopping core and Pike's Place. Not a whole lot on the same block, but there are a few restaurants and a Starbucks next door. Everyone I came into contact with was friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay there again and recommend to people looking for an upscale hotel in downtown Seattle. The only sticking point is $40 a night for valet parking; that is high in my book!

I stayed at Hotel Monaco on New Years Eve with a few of my friends, with the intention of going out to parties and coming back afterward to sleep. The location was great, everyone was exceptionally nice and helpful as far as the staff goes. Oh, and their hotel dog is so adorable! Unfortunately no one told the hotel manager that it was New Years and immediately after returning from a party around 1 am the manager came up to threaten to throw us out. It was NEW YEARS! Not to mention the room next to us was out of control loud and didn't get scolded. I was especially upset when she came to the door, I was changing my clothes so my friend told her I would be there in a minute and her response was: "You have 30 seconds." I don't really appreciate being spoken to like a child. And I also expect a little bit better attitude considering we were patrons of the hotel, and had been back in our room for less than five minutes when we were scolded. So I would recommend Hotel Monaco if you are NOT planning a night out with your friends on New Years. I am sure it would have been wonderful for a romantic night, but unfortunately for our purpose it was a bit disappointing. But I must say aside from Mean Manager, the rest of the staff was wonderful.
