"a bit older of a Motel, but I was very impressed"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
This was a bit older of a Motel, but I was very impressed how clean it was.I was very happy with the service people. Very friendly and helpful. I missed my plane and they were very good to me and I stayed there one more night. The price is in relationship with the kind of motel this and i was pleased. They deserve their / your business. Their breakfast is only muffins and orange juice.

Downtown Seattle stretches along Puget Sound from historic Pioneer Square in the south to trendy Belltown in the north. In between, office towers, shopping gallerias, and brick condos line the leafy avenues. The convention center is here, as is Pike Place Market, where salmon fly. Don’t miss the futuristic main library. Seattle’s twin stadiums and the International District lie south of downtown.

"Great location."
Since this was my first time in Seattle, I was pleasantly surprised how close we were to everything. They had complimentary wine tasting in the afternoon and coffee in the morning, which was great. We arrived by train, and it was only $7 dollars for taxi and we took a limo which they have available to the airport fo $40 dollars. I would definitely stay […] there again. Read more
"Loved"
I enjoyed my stay at the Monaco, it was in the heart of Down town Seattle, close to pretty much everything. Also. Customer service rocked. I will go back when I'm in the area.

"Trendy with paint fumes!"
With windows structurally not openable, and recently painted walls with paint not yet cured on many floors, you'll be sleeping on lovely linens in trendy rooms where the paint is still "off- gassing," aka not cured. If you have a high tolerance for paint fumes, stay here. I moved three times and the morning manager commented " Let me know when you […] next want to stay here and I'll see what I can do!" "Hotel Monaco - Spectacular Service"
I was recently visiting my friend at the hospital in Seattle and stayed at Hotel Monaco due to its proximity and positive reviews. Everyone was incredibly friendly from helping me to figure out where to buy flowers for him to sending up a complimentary bottle of wine on my first evening. The hotel appeared to be in the middle of some updates, which […] was only apparent from the plastic sheeting on the floor near the fitness center. There was no feeling of chaos, which was much appreciated. I only gathered that renovations were happening from a few signs, which was nice. There was no banging or dust or construction signs. I'm not a fan of the goldfish (which were absent due to the renovations) for ethical reasons but I love that it's a pet-friendly hotel (even though I was traveling without pets). The colors are quite vibrant and the general feeling of the hotel is fun and an escape. I'm not a fan, however, of the minimalist designs with muted colors of many hotels. I loved the bright colors and patterns. Despite the rather somber circumstances of my visit, the hotel felt like a wonderful oasis for escape. Thanks to the great staff at Hotel Monaco for a pleasing, stress-free visit. Read more

hotel and workers were wonderful and attentive to our needs . I only moved to another hotel to avoid paying parking fees of 130.00 for three days
It makes my day to hear such great feedback about our staff! Thank you for being our guest.
1 response by Hotel Monaco Seattle, a Kimpton Hotel"Great Hotel"
Ebdes up staying here after saying in another Kimpton Hotel in Chicago. Service and staff were great, the location is convenient to everything but clubs, which are a short cab ride away. I did the 5 wine hour once here, an it really depends on the other people who are staying. First night was a bust, second night was so so. The crowd while I was here […] tended to be mid to late thirties. Overall a great place Read more
Thanks for your great review, we love the feedback! Yes our nightly wine reception can be busier on some nights more than others, but one thing that you can always count on is that we will always be here every night hosting it for our guests.

Hotel Monaco is an absolute delight. A bit eclectic, but definitely worth the stay. The staff is top notch -- making you feel welcome from the moment you step in the front door. The rooms are comfortable and well proportioned. Nothing over the top -- just a delight. Only downside -- valet parking is one of the most expensive in downtown Seattle -- […] a minor disappointment. We like eclectic! Our goal is to stand out from those cookie-cutter hotels. Reading your comments about the staff made my day and I will be sure to share them with everyone here. Yes, unfortunately valet parking downtown can be quite expensive as our rates are comparable to all other hotels around us. Next time you are a guest with us, please inquire about some self parking garages in the area that are little bit cheaper. We hope to see you again soon!

This hotel was a great great away for my wife and I on our 5 year anniversary We enjoyed the room and the great customer service
Thanks for the great review, and Happy Anniversary! We would love to see you next year on your 6th!
1 response by Hotel Monaco Seattle, a Kimpton HotelThe hotel is well situated towards downtown Seattle, but you would not want to venture to far in the opposite direction, esp close to the highway. Service is efficient , while also not always very friendly ( front desk ). Bell men are always helpful and on the casual side.
We do have an amazing staff here at the Hotel Monaco dedicated to customer service! I was a bit shocked to hear about the lack of friendliness of the front desk staff. I assure you I will address this with our agents as providing the highest level of service is our utmost goal. Thank you for your feedback.

"comfortable and cozy"
nice hotel, great restaurant , loved the bathrobe - only thing is it would have been nice to have coffee available in the room. As it is not, I ordered a pot of decaf and 4 cookies thru room service and it was $20 with gratuity; the Mexican wedding cookies were delicious but the coffee was cold - but I will say that when I called they promptly brought […] me a freshly brewed, hot pot so they did make good on it so I gave them an extra $3 tip in the end...I did really enjoy the room and the cozy leopard bathrobe!!! Thanks for the great comments! Next time you are with use, please ask the front desk for a complimentary in-room coffee maker, as we do supply them upon request. I am sorry to hear about the poor initial experience with In Room Dining, but am happy to hear they made up for it quickly. I appreciate your feedback on your experience with us, as it allows us to continually provide the best service to all of our guests.
1 response by Hotel Monaco Seattle, a Kimpton Hotel"Old World meets New World"
Nestled in the heart of downtown Seattle, this charming hotel is walking distance from many choice destinations such as the convention center, the shops at downtown, the market on the water. I found the decor of the rooms and the hotel to have an old world flair that was very charming and comforting. Lovely hotel and very reasonable rate.
"Hotel Monaco - downtown Seattle"
Absolutely beautiful. Very comfortable. I definitely will stay here again - and soon.
"Lobby Dogs Rock!"
Excellent location, inexpensive, friendly staff, clean, comfortable, relaxing bar. Only down side... toilet in need of repair, kept running. Best Part... visiting with random dogs in the lobby. We will stay again!
"Stay here in Comfort"
Reallly nice place to stay - very friendly & helpful staff, great restaurant with an interesting menu, and for a hotel restaurant, very reasonable prices. Safe & interesting neighborhood -- close to the light rail, the convention center, & Pike's Place.
"Great place to stay in Seattle!"
Enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. Money well spent.
"Convenient and affordable"
The service was quick and professional, the room was clean and comfortable, there were no hassles, and it's right downtown, walkable to many things.
"Friendliest Staff ever"
Rarely have we had such a good hotel experience. Pros: The staff is all smiles and really seem to love working there. The lobby with many newspapers and Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate is great. They are polite and generous with the wine hour, and gladly poured even though I made several return trips. After checking out, they gave us back a room […] key so we could print our flight seats in the business center. Cons: the window view was a brick building. You do have to request a coffee maker and a hairdryer for the room. A light bulb was burned out and when we called maintenance, we got voicemail, with no response to our message. Later we called the front desk, and promptly got one, with a box of chocolates for our trouble. still loved it! Read more
"Hotel Monaco Seattle, downtown!!"
This hotel is perfectly located in downtown Seattle. We normally stay at the Westin, however, this hotel is just as comfortable and right in the same area. Parking is a bit ridiculously priced (it is downtown Seattle), and the hotel, staff and surrounding area are phenom!
"HOTEL WITH A BOUTIQUE AND UNIQUE CHARM"
Nestled right in the good part of the town of Seattle near the other nice hotels like the Fairmont, W Hotel, etc., it is a charming, clean, upscale without the snobbery, well priced hotel. I'd stay there again, the staff was VERY kind, nice, helpful and knowledgeable.

"Hotel Monaco - Very Central"
Nice boutique hotel. Room was small, but did the job. Best part of the hotel is the complimentary coffee in the mornings and wine in the evenings in the lobby. Great location, walking distance to anywhere in downtown.
Great staff, awesome location!
"Kimpton Hotel Monaco -- awesome"
I know it may seem cliche but everything was great. the staff was top notch and friendly -- our 2 day stay over Thanksgiving went perfectly.
"Warm, eclectic, and very comfortable!"
Room decor refreshingly different, great staff. Very, very, quiet room. Superb bar and bartender as well as memorable food in the Sazerac! Small lobby was quite cozy and private. A very positive hotel experience.
"Lousy service at Hotel Monacco spoiled my stay"
Lousy service spoiled the whole tone of my recent weekend getaway. Room service was atrocious. We had to call twice, getting the main desk instead of room service. The wiat staff called back to take the order, and comlained he was the only one working. he called again 5 minutes later to complainwe had called down twice. my daughter apologized and said […] we had never had a call back, and that was why she had called a second time 30 minutes later. When we finally placed the order, it was over 40 minutes before we called to see how long until food arrived. We got another rant from the wait staff, whom we had been polite to. We were headed out to meet someone and were just seeing the expected wait. When he came to deliver the food, he ranted again, and brought both of our ice teas warm and without ice. needless to say the food was cold. Very frustrating to be treated poorly and rudely. We then ate and left to go into town. We had called ahead to have our car brought up 30 minutes early as advised. When we went down, they had not got the car, adn we had to wait another 20 minutes for the car to be brought up. I have stayed in many boutique type hotels, and several Kimptons. I was completely shocked at how not only poor but offensive the service was. I would not stay there again. We were bothered several times by the room service delivery guy coming back and requesting the tray again. I was glad i was there with my daughter and not a date, because the numerous interruptions while we were either getting ready to go out, or while watching a movie were beyond annoying. Stay elsewhere! For almost the same rate, you can stay at the Edgewater (which was booked this weekend) and not have to deal with rude staff!! As far as comfort, I have stayed in much cheaper hotels that had better beds. Read more

"Hotel Monoco"
Our room was spacious and nicely turned out. I would have liked to have a mirror IN the room as well as in the bathroom. It is well located in downtown Seattle and almost every tourist sight that we wanted to visit was accessible via walking. We would stay there again if/when we return to Seattle.
"Hotel Monaco - Top notch and close to everything!"
Went to Seattle for a weekend to visit our son stationed there with the Coast Guard. Picked this hotel randomly and was immensely satisfied. The hotel was gorgeous inside and outside. It was in the heart of everything. The service was absolutely wonderful and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. I called for extra bath towels and they were at […] my door within 5 minutes with a smile. In the lobby, there was complimentary coffee/tea during the morning hours and wine during the evening hours. I will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Seattle. Thank you Hotel Monaco staff, you were all wonderful!!!! Read more

"Eh..."
Room was small, right by elevator, could hear it run all night. Room was extemely small, bathroom decent size not enough places to hang towels or toiletries. Room did not have enough space, coffee maker in room only by request. No HD TV nor guide. Not really worth it. Have to pay for valet car parking each day you are at the hotel. Room service decent, […] not special. Read more
"Awful service, everywhere but the valet!"
We began our stay by pulling up to the valet station, wonderful smile, happy to help us get situated. Front desk, seemed as if we were a burden to be checked in. Open the door to our room and are engulfed in the smell of urine. We called the front desk to ask about another room, none available. Not a problem. We ask that they send someone up to clean […] the room. Front desk lets us know that noone is available to clean the room today and that they sometimes have smells in some of their pet rooms. Good to know. They tell us that they understand if we want to find lodging elsewhere. We go to the front desk and ask that they put some sort of air purifier in the room (I suggest "such as you would use for a room that was smoked in") or have the carpet cleaned while we are out over the next few hours. We come back to the hotel 3 hours later to find a small desk fan and a can of air freshener on the floor next to the door as we enter. The fan has it cord coiled up, the air freshener has not been used. Thank you for the supplies Hotel Monaco! We love going on vacation to clean the urine from your carpets! The following morning we wake to take a shower at 9:30. No hot water. We call the front desk and are told they will look into it. 30 minutes later we get a phone call with an explanation that their hot water was probably overloaded by too many guests taking showers and we should just wait a little while for more to become available. We will never again stay with Hotel Monaco in Seattle, we have had wonderful experiences at the Portland Monaco on our regular stays. I would suggest the 3 hour drive if you must stay at a Monaco. This experience nearly ruined our vacation, we were bummed every time we knew we had to go back to the hotel! Luckily Seattle is loaded with distractions! Read more
"Great service, terrific location"
Another great stay at a Kimpton Hotel. Always have great service and nice decor. Very comfy and clean. Nice coffee service in the am. Easy walking distance to tons of downtown shopping and Pike Place market. Highly recommend.
"Hotel Monaco in Seattle"
This hotel was a great bargain for a clean, comfortable, conveniently located stay. We received excellent customer service, too. My mom left behind two gold necklaces and a staff member from the front desk personally went back to the room to retrieve them for us and then mailed them at no cost to us. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're […] planning to visit Seattle. Read more
"Hotel Monaco"
The hotel is walking distance to Pike Place Market and many great Downtown and Belltown restaurants including Japonessa and Shiro. Pier 52 is accessible, where you can scenic ferry ride to Bainbridge Island. The hotel gym is available 24 hours. If you have children, they can borrow a pet goldfish during your stay.

"The Hotel Monaco in Seattle"
Although the hotel's location was fantastic, the price was too much for the small room and not particularly great view or comfortable bed.
"Hotel Monaco, Seattle"
The rooms were comfortable with nice quality bedding and bathroom immenities. The wine tasting in the evening was a nice touch. Nice dining areas all around the hotel with some older high quality bars and surroundings. A short walk to Pike Place from the hotel and lots to see.

Very close to convention center and warf area. Very nice hotel. Firm clean beds. We would stay here again.
"Sleepless in Seattle"
Heard we could request a coffee pot in our room so upon making reservations we requested one. We didn't get one until we asked again but we had to wait for it so I leave my wife in room with minor child while waiting in our room until after 10:30pm. and missing meeting with old friend. I at the same time am sitting in the outside seating area of the […] lounge with friend and am locked out of hotel and had to scale fence to get back to front entrance. Get to bed about 12:30 only to have the people in next room being too noisey to sleep. Separation curtains between rooms in suite wouldn't stay closed also. Asked for a telephone book- didn't have one in the whole hotel. 15 min. max on there internet or you pay 24.00 per hour. How do you find a place to eat, you don't , you eat where they want you to eat. Don't go is my advice Read more
