"Looks good from afar, but far from good looking"
This is a majestic, large structure on top of a hill with the beach immediately behind it. It looks regal, with a grand lobby and polished fixtures everywhere. From my perspective as an American, it is designed to look like the best hotels in the west. But as my review title suggests, the actual experience falls far short of the initial impression. […] The staff all seem to be in training, taking too long to answer simple questions. The maintenance crew did not respond to a request to fix the thermostat control (leaving my room unbearably cold in the middle of the desert!), and the restaurant staff tend to be very slow in their responsiveness. It's easy to mistake the "how are you this evening, sir?" politeness and instantaneous helpfulness for service, but the staff seemed to be trained in politeness of interaction more than a service-mindset. If you can spend the money, there are multiple other options along the waterfront that are a better value. If you are from Europe or USA, you will likely find this hotel disappointing. Read more
"Not Good Value For Money!"
Nice hotel but very expensive for what you get! The John Barry bar lounge was outdated and smelt very musty. As it was Ramadan, this was the only place to get food during the day and alcohol in the evening (after seven PM). The other areas of the hotel were very nice and the food was good although I have had better for a better price. All in all […] I'd rather stay somewhere like the Crown Plaza, where it was more of English, down to earth feeling. Read more
"Muscat is indeed beautiful"
The Grand Hyatt was like being in a palace! Being Ramadan, I felt I had the palace to myself at times. To go anywhere other than the hotel, you have to catch a taxi, and isn't that an experience! Wonderfully entertaining. I cought a taxi to the City Centre shopping mall, and 20 mins into my shopping I bumped into the taxi driver who said, " I am your […] taxi driver, I will wait to take you back to the hotel, I am Hyatt taxi driver." Das Hotel bietet eine sehr angenehme und vielseitige Infrastruktur.Die Lobby ist sehr beeindruckend. Die Zimmer sind sauber und grosszügig. Die Verpflegungsmöglichkeiten sind vielseitig und mehr als genügend. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Der grosse Pool und die Auswahl an Liegeplätzen lässt keine Wünsche offen. Der nahe Sandstrand […] ist ideal für Spaziergänge, Sport und Baden. Etwas vermisst habe ich nahegelegene oder sogar hoteleigene Wassersportmöglichkeiten wie Schnorchelplätze, Kleinbootsverlei (Hobbycat) oder Surfbretter. Die Bedingungen wären ideal. Read more
