My son and I had a one night gap at the end of our trip to Maui which we stayed at Maui Coast. It is situated right across the street from several beaches and the area has a lot of food and shopping. It was perfect for one night, and the people are very nice :).

This was not a 'cheap' deal - even by Maui's high price standards. The accommodations were nice, clean and the staff were very friendly. However, on entering my room, it felt damp and when I sat on the sofa, it clearly was damp. Turned out that the room had been cleaned (washed) and hadn't been dried properly. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was clean, larger than expected and comfortable. My only issue is the lack of a proper restaurant. The poolside cafe has very limited options and even less for people who have a sensitivity or allergy to gluten. Everything else was wonderful.

We were very pleased with our stay here. The room had everything we needed(except a DND sign which I'm sure we could have gotten from the front desk). The front desk staff was very friendly. My only staff complaint is that we weren't approached at the pool to see if we wanted anything, even when they were delivering food and drinks to other guests. […] Our room was very quiet and we could never tell we were right next to the elevator. Clean and spacious rooms. Great breakfast (bananas foster pancakes) at the poolside cafe. Pool area is a bit small. A 2 min walk to a small beach across the street. Friendly staff.

When staying in Maui - consider staying first in Kihei - it is close to a lot - and not terribly overcrowded. Beach is across the street and there is plenty of local stuff to see and do. Also, you can reach most everything else on the island within an hour (Road to Hana and the route 30 road are farther). Let me begin by saying that I'm pretty picky. We were considering staying in West Maui originally for all of the 4-5 stars hotels but decided on Kihei instead becuase its more centrally located for the activities we had planned which were pretty much all over. Maui Coast Hotel fit the bill just right. The only thing we didn't have was the most spectacular […] view. Our room was on the north side. We over looked a field on the other side of the fence that was a bit trashy. No worries though because if you just keep looking to the west and you'll get an ok view of the ocean. We didn't mind so much. Next time we come back, we'll ask for a lower floor. Maui Coast has lots of foliage to try to keep these things out if site. Bed was perfect for us. People here are nice and helpful. Not like 5 star helpful where everyone is incredibly happy to serve you. However, I think it goes with match of the culture from what we've experienced. Fabulous lobby & pool area. Room needs to look like the advertisement. Carpeting in room & hallways needed cleaning. Bath amenities were exceptional. There were no kitchen implements (silverware bowls, plates, glasses, etc.) in the kitchen area. These were supplied upon request. Hotel staff very friendly helpful.

My daughter and I stayed here on a spring break family vacation (April 2013). The location is great! There is a nice beach within easy walking distance (and the front desk can give you towels for use at the beach or pool), also some fabulous restaurants like Cafe O Lei, Da Kitchen (for local fare), and S&Q coffee and shaved ice. The ABC store is right […] down the street as well for souvenirs and snacks. The concierge is very helpful and can book Expedia trips for you. We went ziplining and snorkeling, both wonderful and educational trips. There's a Dollar rental car kiosk in the hotel, which makes it easy to rent a car just for the day trips. The hotel and grounds are in great condition. The pool is beautiful and restaurant serves up a good meal, poolside. The staff was always friendly and willing to help out or answer questions. There are some extra daily fees to take note of for your travel budget ($17.50 per day plus tax). No complaints here. Read more

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days. We were on the top floor, on the south side. We loved it! We saw the sun rise every morning, and could watch the sun set every night. We just walked across the street to the beach, as it was not beach front, but for the price compared to the beach front hotels, we were very satisfied. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean, newly decorated rooms. Pool, tennis courts, bicycles, towels, drinking water, all included for a required daily fee. Across the street from a nice beach. The beds in our hotel room were both bad. We were in a junior suite. Had 2 queen beds-one bed had broken springs in the middle. Even when it was made you could see a huge hole in the middle where it was sunk in. The other bed felt like you were sliding off of it and was somewhat sunk in the middle too. Both beds had an extra pillowtop mattress pad on […] them--probably to make up for the bad mattresses. Also, the sheets were 60/40 polyester---too hot to sleep on even with the air conditioning on. My husband didn't want to complain about the mattresses so we didn't. I did tell them when we checked out. They apologized and said they would have switched rooms or mattresses, but offered nothing more. The mattresses should be inspected to make sure they are good before you check in. Hotel lobby had empty bottles and trash by hotel guest computers and also water on floor and in elevators from pool on many occasions. Tried to print out expedia info for tour. Desk employee said it didn't print. I printed it again. Then, the employee noticed printer had no paper so I had to print info again. Room was clean when we returned each night-had clean towels and bottled water every day. When my husband and I were in the hot tub, 3 people got in. An employee came over- asked our name and room #. The 3 people said they were friends of hotel guest, but couldn't give room # or guest name. The employee asked them to leave and bring the hotel guest if they wanted to use hot tub. Right across the street from Kamaole I beach park which is more than you need to take some sun, enjoy the water, and even do some snorkeling to the South. Restaurant food was delicious. This is a clean, quit and nicely appointed motel. The friendly helpful staff always seem to be where you need them, when you need them.
