Hotel Le Bellechasse Saint Germain - Paris

Found this hotel to be the biggest disappointment of our trip. We've been to Amsterdam and London and had great experiences. This hotel was the exception. Very small, toilet on one side of the room and bath & Sink on the other. No coffee in the room or much of anything. Wifi was a pain. Just not a good experience.

The hotel was clean, modern and chic! The room was beautiful and artistic... BUT extremely small. There was hardly space for luggage... And we only had one big suitcase and a small carryon. The staff overall was extremely accommodating and helpful. My only complaint of staff was that they did not honor the do not disturb sign on three different days […] and woke us up! Food was great. We had a fabulous time at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone wishing to enjoy a stay on the left bank. The bathrooms are a little odd, and some of the furnishings have seen better days. However, the decor is lovely and the staff friendly.

This hotel is probably chosen for its location, near a main street known for shopping and a half block from the Musee d'Orsay. We found it to be elegant, but the room was quite small, with a tiny closet, and almost no room to store the suitcases. I think it was overpriced.

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great and safe neighborhood and the staff was amazingly helpful. The staff was there day and night and we were both impressed with their level of service. Many attractions are within close proximity and we will certainly stay here again when we return to Paris.

Very small and crammed. The wall coverings were made of fabric wallpaper which to me was unhygienci, especially in the bath area, w2hich by the wqay was part of the room. The front desk staff was mixed. One person was very nice and helpful, another was not helpful at all, when asked for help her first response was to try and say why she could or would […] not help. This is a great little boutique hotel within walking distance of many major attractions: Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, etc. The room was beautiful. The walls where upholstered with canvas depicting very french images/styles. The room is a bit cramped, but that is to be expected in the middle of the city. The hotel stuff are very friendly and helpful. My wife […] and I visited several countries on this trip and our stay at this hotel was definitely the highlight of the trip. Do note however that the only place to park is a public lot by the river. It's expensive and not exactly the safest choice to leave your car there. If I had to do it again, I would park in one of the large garages at the edge of the city and catch the tram or a cab to get to the hotel. Driving in Paris is not a game for the ill-prepared. This hotel has a great location down the street from the Seine and Museum D'Orsay. There a wonderful little cafes and restaurants in the area, so breakfast/snacks are easy to come by. This location is also very ideal for walking about St. Germain and other cool areas. Great location steps from the RER (easy train access to/from airport). Close to Orsay, Louvre, and all restaurants/cafes on St. Germain. The room had a very funky design and was very functional despite the smallish size. One issue: We extended check out time to 13:30 and it was accepted and written. However, every half hour starting 10:00 somebody (always someone else) entered trying to clean the room, appologizing etc. Every half hour disterbing my wife that was in the room. Not even knocking. My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Bellechasse for 6 nights in a room that was quite small by U.S. standards but nicely appointed. Extremely comfortable bed & bedding, but rather light on the storage space; probably more suitable for one person or a shorter stay. Most off-putting feature was tub+wand, rather than a shower, and lack of a door on the bathing […] room. Our biggest beef was a lack of regular replacement of toiletries, washcloths, etc., which is a particular peeve; to me, 6 nights' stay should entitle one to the same service daily as if there were 6 separate one-night stays. That aside, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with taxis, directions, reservations, and such. The location, steps from Musee d'Orsay, the metro, the Seine, walking distance to the major parks, shops, museums, sights, restaurants, etc., make this hotel an overall excellent destination for the efficient traveler. The hotel's location could not be beat. About 100 meters from the Musee d"Orsays front door. Dozens of excellent bistros around to choose from. We walked to everywhere to places that we wanted to see and did not use the Metro once during the week. The room was small compared to American hotels but it was quiet and very comfortable. We stayed 4 nights at the hotel. The Christian Lecroix decor is unique and kind of charming--definitely memorable. Our room was on the top floor, and quite small with room for just a small desk and the bed. The bed and pillows were very comfy, with nice smooth sheets. The teeny bathroom was cool to look at but functionally not great--the shower was […] very small and enclosed with round glass with no soap dish or shelf for shampoo--like showering in a bottle. Plus the door leaked water all over the floor. So showering was not relaxing, but more like an adventure in logistics and contortion. The sink area was similarly cramped. The room did feel extremely clean. On the down side, there was no hot water pot or coffee maker and the mini-fridge was broken. We had some cheese that we wanted to refrigerate and we had to to call the front desk repeatedly to retrieve it and take it back to the refrigerator, which they always seemed pleased to do. Just kind of a hassle. The front desk person serves as the concierge and was helpful in making a dinner reservation for us. We did eat breakfast (not included in the room rate) in the cute little basement dining room one morning and it was good. The buffet included fresh squeezed juice and fresh coffee with steamed milk for each of us, as well as pastries, toast, lots of French jams, scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. Very satisfying. This is a very quiet, somewhat quirky hotel, located a block from the wonderful Musee D'Orsay and a metro stop. Read more

Booked two rooms. Each one was different. Great location where the hop a bus stops about a block away. Nothing about this hotel says chain, everthing is unique. Our cheaper room with courtyard view had giant bathroom with separate rain shower. Room on the street side had small bath with hand shower that was hard to use. Front desk as helpful as possible […] but limited English at times, but they always did the best they could. Never ate or drank there..there was an abundance of cafes and bars all close by that were all good. Have stayed at other and more expensive hotels in Paris but this was by far the best with all things considered. This is a small hotel but big on charm with details not found anywhere else. I would recommend this hotel to those that travel heavily and are beyond the same old cookie cutter hotels and rooms. Not recommended for first time travelers that expecting the hotel chain experience. Would stay again anytime. Read more

The Bellechasse is a fantastic hotel. The rooms, as mentioned, are very small by American standards, but from what we noticed on our 2 week trip through Europe and the UK it was actually quite large. Everything was very clean and in place. The wifi is fairly poor and we heard the front desk girl send two people besides us to Petite Zinc, which was crap. […] But those are the only problems we had here. Rooms are small, but that is normal for European hotels. Bathtub has hand-held showerhead, so must bathe sitting in tub, not standing, which was not a problem for me or my husband, but may be for others. Fabulous hotel in an exceptional location. A quiet side street location within stone's throw from Musay D'Orsay Wonderful side walk cafes within steps of the front door. I booked this hotel as I had read some very good reviews and was pleased that it lived up to the positive feedback. Hotel is in a great location close to metro and RER links which makes it very easy to get to and from the airport. The rooms are very small but extremely clean and well maintained although the bath only had a hand held shower head which […] wasn't great! The staff were very friendly and happy to help with all our sight seeing enquiries. The breakfast facility was great - very clean and plenty of selection, but my advice is to pre pay this with your booking as we had to pay 21 Euros p/p per day which did seem a bit expensive. Unfortunately when my Daughter and I stayed the RER at D'Orsay was closed. This made getting around Paris difficult as the Solferino metro although close to hand meant a very circuitous route. This was problematic for me as I am disabled. The hotel itself however was a great place to stay and service and rooms great. A small downer was the receptionist […] did not inform us that we need to retain the passes to the D'orsay museum back or we would be charged for then. This was galling as it was free admission on the day we chose. It was sorted (we found the tickets in the rubbish bin). But we would have been charged if they had gone astray. Reception was not at all understanding or prepared to admit their error which damped things down a little. All in all we had a great time and would recommend the Bellechasse. Read more
