"Better hotels in area"
Valet for car was a nightmare. Took the valet 20 min to give me a ticket. Then to get car had to wait 30 mins. Room was on 3rd floor, bathroom had heavy chlorine smell. Rooms are very small and old. Not worth the $300 rate.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dated hotel , great location"
I am sure I could do better next time for this price. Not a very nice hotel. Old and dated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tired hotel in a great location...."
When we arrived around midnight, our room's AC and telephone were not working. It took nearly 45 minutes for maintenance to show up to fix the AC so we could get to sleep. The telephone was never fixed. The rooms you book through Hotels.com are much smaller than shown in the photos. Our room had barely enough space for a queen bed and two small nighttables. […] There was no desk or chair. The was barely enough room to open an ironing board. The bathroom is beyond tiny. You have to navigate to be able to close the door. My overall review is this is a tired hotel in a great location. It wasn't dirty per se, but things are dingy, wall paper is peeling. The towels and linens are old and below average. I'm certain there may be lovely rooms, but you won't get one based on a hotels.com price. At best, this is a two-star hotel. Serviceable but nothing special at all. Even though this is an older hotel the lobby is very elegant and not showing signs of wear. Rooms are typical smaller in size for Manhattan but clean and functional. Very good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Roosevelt Hotel is Tired"
just tired. room was ok but not great. street noise all night long.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"High quality, great location"
We stayed one night in order to go to the theater. The Roosevelt is across the street from Grand Central Terminal and a short walk to the theater district. Perfect for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was noisy but I brought ear plugs so it was all good!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, horrible bathroom"
Excellent location, however there was no vent in the bathroom which caused for a very humid bathroom and room. The bathroom was so small you had to manuver around the sink and toilet to get in/out of the shower. The bathroom looked old, the wallpaper was coming off the wall. I paid for two days of internet, only to get to use it for 2 hours as it was […] cut off early. For the cost of the hotel internet should have been included for free. I felt like a second class citizen because I used the Hotels.com website. Not at all what I expected for the cost and location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"OLD, DIRTY HOTEL IN NEED OF RENOVATION"
I think Hotels.com did a great disservice to it's clients by giving the Roosevelt any stars. The hotel is old. The rooms are dirty. The beds are old. The bathrooms are old. This hotel needs a complete renovation. It's very sad when you spend a good amount of money and you get Motel 6.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff are wonderful. Troubles with tv not working, phone broken and Internet issues. Everything else was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our two night stay. We were not at the hotel very much so we really didn't mind the small room. The location was awesome and very convienient if you enjoy walking everywhere. We got a really great deal and would probably stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Big Apple convenience"
The room was small but clean and adequate but they were working on the hotel wiring during our stay which affected tv reception. When checking out, we could not get a bellman to help with luggage, their extension was busy for at least 30 minutes and so was the front desk line. We found the bellman in the lobby with no customers, joking with each other. […] When asked about the phone being off the hook, they said they were "busy." Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel close to shopping"
This is a wonderful hotel. The only thing I didn't like is this is the first hotel that I have stayed in in a long time that has not had a coffee pot in the room. I like to have a cup of coffee before I leave the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"They need to keep trying"
- Internet and cable were TERRIBLE this time. Elevators were slow. BUT this is a great location and basically a fabulous hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bathrooms tinyl and VERY dated...pillows nasty request feather pillows...hotel still under going renovation...Price very competitive considering locationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I stay in NY often. Usually 3 - 4 star hotels. This is by far the most disappointing experience, especially considering this is supposedly a 4 star hotel. (Also, this is the first time and hopefully only time I give a negative rating so I am not a standard whiner) To list a few complaints: rooms are very old, peeling paint, bathroom is pathetic, rotting […] caulking, bed was ok, TV was not working at all, elevators were very slow. Roosevelt may have been a good hotel 20 - 30 years ago, but investment in the rooms is lagging dramatically. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Comfy bed but not the cleanest"
Good nights sleep on a comfy bed but the bathroom condition was not great and the lack of fridge in a "king" room was disappointing! Rooms were also very small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Old New York hotel"
We had a great stay at the Roosevelt. We were on the 15th floor and they were doing cable upgrading or something. It wasn't particularly loud, but there were spools of internet cables around, etc. The rooms are Manhattan cozy, but very tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are true to the 1920's and there is no vanity space, we we expected that. Charging […] outlets are a challenge if you have multiple devices. We bought a $4 extension cord at Duane Reade for our son's CPAP and for charging phones. The lobby s beautiful and we appreciated the history of the hotel. Great location - just a block from Grand Central. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Smaller than expected"
We expected the room to have average size to it, but we wouldnt even open an ironing board inside. And to top it off we were on the 8th floor and the elevator was out of service. This made for a terrible trip, I was very dissapointedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Calm but warm"
Honestly, everything was fine. The conceirge even gave us a menu for a great pizza place that we could order from when we got back to the hotel at 2am. The only issue we had was with the heater - it was off, but there was still heat coming from it. We had to sleep with a window open.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I thought the other reviewers were just being a little bit silly but truly, it was an Impossible bathroom. Tiny-I mean teensy itty bitty tiny. And none of the surfaces anywhere was level so toiletries slid everywhere. Great location. Hotel's home cable channel was stuck on a "live" view of a restaurant table and chairs with a buzzing sound so no help […] to a visitor. Really odd. Beautiful bones of a grand old lady in the public areas. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location, location, location"
Can't beat the location. Center of Midtown. Made our five days in NYC a big hit. Easy to get to the buses and the subway. Close to great shopping. Plenty of restaurants nearby, including an endless supply of great eats at nearby Grand Central Terminal. Enjoyed a nice junior suite for very little money. Got loads of room space. Hotel getting way too […] long in tooth. Elevators take too long. Didn't work all the time. Poor quality of service from housekeeping. Needed to request basic resupplies like toilet tissue, coffee and soap. Poor job keeping things clean. Heat available only three nights of our five-night stay. No extra blankets provided with heat off. Bed was not made correctly for at least two nights, needed to remake ourselves. Housekeeping and engineering never got the closet door to work right. Will we stay at Roosevelt again? You bet we will. Despite the seemingly endless housekeeping hassles, you just can't beat the location. And in Manhattan, it's location, location, location! "Dirty and Old"
The hotel is a factory that has not be updated in what looked to be 20 years. Te cleanliness of the room was in question at best and the staff was a bit impatient in general. Would not recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I had great expectations for this hotel, but it failed to meet the expectations I have for the most basic hotel. We checked in and our initial room had two power failures, so we had to repack our bags and "check out", leaving our bags in the bag check downstairs. Upon returning, we were moved to a better room. Upon returning to our room after an evening's […] festivities, we were unable to successfully use any of the hotel's six elevators to access the 15th floor where our room was located - we had to take the stairs. The rooms have no coffee makers, and no glassware. This is just a much lower level of service than I think is acceptable for anything more than a Travelodge, and I can't fathom why it seems impossible to get the level of service you can get for $75 anywhere in the US for $250 in NYC. Abyssmal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Roosevelt Hotel Review"
The hotel has great charm and we really liked it for the most part. Our hotel maid was awesome and our room was very clean. There were a couple of things that were a little distrubing to us. One morning we found a large cockroach in my shoe when we told the front desk about it they seemed very unconcerned. I probably should have brought it down and […] the gal might have been more in tune with the problem. Another thing, our faucet was dripping and we told the front desk and they were very quick to get someone up to fix it while we were out. Problem the broken part was left on the floor wrapped in one of the towels and the tub had alot of dirt in it. Honestly it looked like the maintence person didn't clean up after he fixed the faucet. Other than those two things we enjoyed the Roosevelt Hotel a great deal. Thank you for a great six nights. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
There was no hot water. And no water pressure in the shower. Room was very small and beds were small as well. Mattresses were poor and room was very dusty. AC was very old. No WIFI access. Bathroom was very small and old. Needs renovation!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely older hotel in great location"
This is a lovely older hotel in a great location with a courteous, friendly and helpful staff. My room was small - as I'd expected from the description - but it was sufficient for my needs. Who spends much time in a hotel room when in New York?? The hotel is faded in spots from years of existance, but the lobby is still beautiful, the location is fabulous […] and I would stay here again without hesitation. "New York November 2013"
The location is awesome. We walked or used the subway at Grand Central for all our transport. We used a taxi twice - airport and back. The room is typical NY, small, loud and busy. If you expect anything else you are kidding yourself. Stay at the W if you want more. We left the room at 8:00 am daily and got back after Dinner. The room was used for cleanup […] and sleep. Perfect location and all you need unless you are the type that just can't be satisfied. I highly recommend the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We took the bus in from DC, got to the hotel around 12pm and our room was already ready. The location is close to Times Square and shopping but far enough that you don't have all the noise and traffic. The hotel staff were very helpful […] and they kept our suitcase after we checked out while we spent the day out and about before our bus ride back home Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is one of the shabbiest hotel rooms I've been in: peeling wallpaper all around and carpet pulling away from the edges. The air conditioning unit barely worked. Thankfully, I was able to open the window and get some fresh air. Shower curtain rod was ready to pull out of the wall, as was the hair dryer. TV reception was so poor that I couldn't even […] watch a news broadcast. No in-room safe, which is odd in a hotel in a business district. Heaven help you if you are an early riser and would like a cup of coffee before 6 am (no in-room coffee and none available in hotel until 6 am). "All around excellent for the price"
Excellent for the price. Definitely nicer places in NY, but dollar for dollar this is by far the best place I've stayed. Rooms are clean and functional, staff is friendly, I even was feeling ill one night and the concierge had the house doctor give me a call to help me get it sorted out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, small and bad concierge"

"Old hotel in a good location"
We were coming in from CT so the location next to Grand Central was great. We booked a cozy queen but our bed was definitely a double and not a queen. In-room amenities were lacking and the building is very old. But good location for those coming into GCT.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The hotel needs renovation"
it has a very good location but it is to old for the charge of the stay and the attention in front desk terrible i had a package had to complain so it could be found i think i would agianGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The good news is the location and cleanliness. But the maintenance in my room (753) was woeful. The roller on one side of the shower door was entirely missing so I had to bump the door along its track to open and close. And there was no shower door handle so I had to move the door by clasping the frame with my fingernails. There was no hot water in […] the shower one morning. The air conditioner wouldn't cool the room quite enough for comfortable sleeping (I complained and the front desk said that Maintenance would fix it, but I'm not sure if it was looked at as the conditioning didn't seem to improve and no one ever got back to me). I got a wake up call I didn't request and had to let the phone ring about 20 times to put in an actual wake-up request. I got into an elevator with a woman with a stricken look who said she was changing rooms because she found a big bug walking across her bed when she checked in. And a minor thing: I wanted to print my boarding pass and the concierge directed me to the "complimentary" computer for which there was actually a charge (did he not know?). All in all the hotel speaks of pretty poor management. That said, I'd probably try it one more time as the location is great and the price was moderate for NYC.
