The Q Hotel & Spa

A friend and I booked a double room at the Q Hotel a week or so in advance. Upon check-in, the front desk folks asked if we really needed a double, since they were having "maintenance problems" and some of the rooms were unavailable. I said we did, and they said they didn't have any left. We were given the option to take a queen with a sofa bed, or […] a queen with a rollaway and the promise that we'd have a double the next night. We chose the second option. The staff at the desk didn't seem very sympathetic to our problem, and the only consolation prize we were offered was to get our complimentary evening drinks right then because we had missed the window for those. I assume we were only allowed to get them right there and then, with our luggage and everything, because when we came through the lobby a bit later, there was nobody at the bar. The room and rollaway were comfortable enough and we were moved to a new room the next day without much hassle (though we had to interrupt our sightseeing to be back at the hotel at 1pm to move our stuff). Our double room was pleasant enough, although there seemed to be no way to control the temperature in the room. Every setting on the thermostat just blew out hot air. It was about 80 degrees in the room, so we cracked the window open and it helped. Overall, I can't complain too much, because I got a very good deal on the room(s), the hotel was clean and in a great location, breakfast was great, and the parking was free. Read more

Great stay, they have a shuttle that will take up to 3 miles, saved us from calling a cab. Great made to order breakfast. The lady making the omelettes was working her but off. Would definetly dart again.

We really enjoyed out stay! Well worth the cost (which is very reasonable), especially considering you receive breakfast with made to order omelets, and two cocktails per person at the bar each evening. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again!

I suprised that they have updated the rooms. Brand new carpet and bedding. Extremely comfortable beds! We really enjoyed this! The staff was so very nice. Every one of them! One negative. The hallways smell like onions. Almost to the point of body odor nasty. Not the rooms, just the hallways. We now know this is due to the breakfast served on the bottom […] level. In the Westport area where many local bars and restaurants are located and a short walk to Country Club Plaza shopping. If you're looking for great value and a departure from "chain" hotels, than the Q Hotel is for you. Funky vibe, comfortable rooms, excellent staff, complementary breakfast and passes to Gold's Gym. Most hotels offer the minimal breakfast fare: bagels, milk, coffee, and cereal. They offer omelettes made to order, fresh fruit, waffles, yogurt, and everything mentioned before. I left the hotel full and ready for the day ahead.

Our friends staying at the Q paid for the shuttle to Arrowhead Stadium. Unfortunately the shuttle driver decided to pick up other people after the game instead of the our friends that they had left at the stadium. Our friends were stranded by the shuttle. They called the shuttle driver and he told them to get a cab. Managment made things right, but […] stranding people at Arrowhead among 60,000 fans left a bad taste in their mouths. The Q hotel and spa is a lovely facility. It is close to all kinds of fun spots, and is a fun spot itself (the bar-tender is a lovely person). I was a bit disappointed this trip as my room was without heat, and the nights got into the 30s. The management provided me a space heater and extra blankets, but the disappointment lingers. Staff were friendly and the breakfast in the morning was great! Good location as we were going to a concert 2 blocks away. The only thing was that the shuttle didn't run past 10pm so we had to walk back to the hotel at midnight. The hotel was ok overall! The lobby is pretty and cozy. The room is pretty small but clean. The furniture is a little scratched up. The TV is hard to watch because of its location. The staff seems nice but need to care more about the customers. They wouldn't pay attention much. Oh and if you ask them for a good place to eat at, they will probably suggest […] the Bristol! This is a very comfortable though unpretentious hotel. It's location in Westport is terrific - wonderful restaurants and shops - and is near to the Country Club Plaza, The Nelson-Atkins Museum and the Kemper Gallery of Modern Art and Design. Very nice -- defnitely had an eco-friendly vibe....the hotel had clearly been refurbed, but some items had been left intact since original construction...admittedly this could make some "disneyland" consumers uncomfortable due to teh anachronysm of some furnishings or trim, but it was clear to me that this was a thoughtful decision made to avoid un-necessary […] waste. The end result was taseful decor without any ostentatious feeling. The breakfast was nice -- in a cafeteria-style room. It seemed all guests came to the breakfast -- it felt very communal and energized visitors for their day. Similarly, the daily happy hour was well attended by guests and really gave a sociable vibe compared to a chain hotel. Location was great -- Westport very walkable and plenty of dining drinking options. Not much polished retail at Westport -- but you can walk or drive to Plaza if that's your thing. Q Hotels fashion themselves "green," but there's no obvious sign of "green-ness." The front desk agents are friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, the complimentary breakfast is good whether you want healthy or a cholesterol bomb. Only great complimentary breakfast buffet is offered, including made to order omelets and Belgian waffles. The cook was pleasant and efficient. No in hotel lunch or dinner available, nor is room service available. When we inquired, front desk suggested local restaurants some offer delivery. My 80 year old mother smokes, and hotel does not offer smoking […] allowed rooms. However, when we checked in, the desk clerk offered a smaller than average room with a “smokers balcony” which provided a wonderful view of the Kansas City skyline, especially at night. No microwave or fridge, but small coffee pot and other expected accouterments. The hotel is furnished in a contemporary style. The linens were good quality with a nice soft comforter. The hotel lobby area is nice and the service is excellent, very friendly staff. The bed was uncomfortable, very hard with pillows that are much too firm. The room temperature was difficult to keep at an acceptable level. Room was clean but very uncomfortable for sleeping.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away and couldn't have been happier with our stay. From the minute we checked in the front desk was so helpful and provided us with ideas for the night. We received 2 free drinks that night and the hotel also provided a shuttle service everyday we stayed. We parked our car and didn't use it until we checked […] out. Everyone was so friendly, we loved Rita who made our breakfast in the am, she is wonderful! My only suggestion would be a towel bar in the sink area, other than that we abs loved our stay and we WILL book again for future visits! We were told that a shuttle would take us to and from the Sprint Center; that was the main reason I chose this hotel. We were told the shuttle would leave at 7:45, we were there waiting; they didn't show up until after 7:00, so we were late to the event; plus afterwards when we called for the shuttle to pick us up, we were told there weren't any available […] and we had to take a cab back, which cost us an extra $20.00. The manager's happy hour and breakfast were very nice touches. The hotel is located very close to many restaurants and only a short walk to the Country Club Plaza. Great modern boutique hotel at a very reasonable rare. We were very happy with the cleanliness of the hotel and the modern furnishings. Two free drinks per guest during happy hour was a nice surprise and the made to order omelet bar was great. We will stay there again on our next trip to KC.

Great location near Westport and 8 blocks from Country Club Plaza. The breakfast had variety and the managers reception from 5-7 was very nice. Also, there is free shuttle service within a few blocks of the hotel. Would highly recommend their spa services(Spa)

The Q provides clean and comfortable rooms, a convenient shuttle service, a generous happy hour and the best breakfast. Front desk and housekeeping staff are always friendly and accomodating and the breakfast staff goes beyond accomodating. A great place to stay!
