"Close to airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We were on our way home and stayed at this hotel because it was close to the airport and it provided a free shuttle. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even provided us with a morning snack as our flight left very early. The only negative was that the hotel did not have a restaurant and there did not appear to be any restaurants in the area. We had to walk to another hotel fairly close by for supper.

"Fantastic pick for a shopping trip!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This being my first trip to NYC, I wasn't sure where to even begin looking for hotels. My friends and I were looking for a nice hotel, with a good price point, in a central part of town. Wow did we ever pick the right choice with the Hilton on 35th. The check in process was quick and easy, and the service was fantastic. The employee's remembered us by name for the whole weekend, and provided excellent recommendations on restaurants and shopping locations. Speaking of shopping; what a fantastic area! There was shopping in any direction, lots of food, and right next to the subway if you want to take a hop to any other areas. The room itself was nice; nothing outrageous, but very clean and large for a hotel room in NYC. We were three people and there was plenty of room for our luggage and room to move around. We would 100% go back!
"Comfy, clean and courteous"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Staff was great, room was clean and comfy. Hot tub was good and gift shop had good hours. Overall great!

"Liked the Hotel."
No complaints about the Hotel or Staff. There is a nice 24 hr Deli across the road. Room was about what I expected for the price. The imediate neighborhood was a bit dirty but I felt safe enough. I wouldn't recomend it for families with young kids. I would stay there again. It's a bit old school but that was kid of cool too. I do Love NY.
"Hotel Skyline in New York City-Close to everything"
Walking distance to Times Square and close to 5th Avenue and all other attractions. Very convenient location of the Hotel.
"Skyline NYC - a diamond in the rough"
Took two kids to NYC and found Skyline not much to look at from the outside but clean and comfortable on the inside. Nice hotel for me, an average Joe who likes to carry his own bags. If you go, eat a great breakfast at City Lights Diner just up the block.
"Hotel Skyline in New York City-Convenient Location"
Wallet friendly convenient location close to Times Square neat & clean rooms but the mattress looks like old and sunken. I could not make local calls from my room when complained the receptionist was rude and all my five nights stay the problem was not fixed but overall not a bad place to stay.
"Very Pleasant stay"
Our group consisted of husband, wife, and two grown daughters. We booked a room with two Queen beds, and we were completely satisfied wtih the size and comfort of this room. The decor is very nice and staff were friendly. Our only complaint was that the shower had little pressure, but apparently that is a problem with most in the city. We will recommend […] this hotel, and would stay there again, Read more
"Old"
Old but clean. NO beds bugs !!! Pool closed before schedule ;-( Few minutes walks for Time square. Parking at 10$/day in a garage...on Time Square....Impossible but there...it's true ! It was correct but little expansive for. Restaurant really BAD.
"Great Spot In Hell's Kitchen!!!"
Excellent Hotel!!! The only thing is that the older male concierge was extreamly lazy and very pointless for information. Sklyine Hotel please find a more motivated and professional concierge!!!
"Skyline Hotel - a good family hotel"
We really enjoyed our stay at the Skyline. It was in a quieter area, but still close to all the sites. We stayed during Hurricane Irene and the hotel stayed open for business, even the restaurant was operational! The room for six that we had was very large for NY and comfortable!
"Skyline - Old NY"
We were pretty happy with the Skyline Hotel. Very "Old NYC" feeling. Very nice to have a pool to hop in at the end of our very long days and the fact that they have fridges in the rooms is awesome (very nice to have a few cool drinks in your room and breakfast ready to go). Only complaints: the shower curtain smelled awful (otherwise the cleanliness […] was very good) and the surrounding neighborhood was a little bit skechy, but only at night. Read more
We stayed for 5 nights in early August. The location, $10.00 parking and pool is the reason we chose this hotel. We had some problems, but the hotel manager and the super nice staff quickly took care of them. . Problems included a safe and fridge that both malfunctioned. Beds are very comfortable, staff super friendly. We didn't dine here, so we can't […] comment on the food in the restaurant. Based on the price, location and comfort, I would return, but this is definitly a 3 star hotel, so don't expect a 4 or 5. Read more
"Not much from the outside..."
The beds were fabulous, as were the pillows, bedding. Staff was pleasant, and friendly. Held onto our bags until check-in, parking very reasonable. We were three to a room, and this was a luxurious night's sleep for all. I would stay here again. Hotel is pet-friendly, we are all allergic, and I did not know this beforehand. We had no issues. Win!
"Skyline Hotel In July"
The Skyline Hotel is older but in good condition. Location is excellent to Central Park, Times Square and waterfront. There is no in room coffee and the swimming pool was closed for at times for lessons it was very inconvenient with a child as the pool was a reason for choosing the Skyline.

"The Hotel Skyline highly recommended"
This hotel was in a great location. If you arrive to the city by car it's just a few blocks from the Lincoln tunnel and it has a parking garage right there with only 10USD per day. The pool is in the uppermost floor of the hotel with an amazing skyline view of the city. Our kids enjoyed this hotel and if we go back we will for sure stay there again. […] Walk to Times Square was only maybe a bit less than 10minutes. The room (superior) was clean and had two queen beds, separate area with sinks (perfect for doing makeup) as well as a bathroom. Great place!!! Read more

"The Skyline Hotel in New York"
We were very satisfied with our stay at the Skyline Hotel. The beds were comfortable, parking fee was economical, and the indoor pool was a nice addition. We also liked the fact that it was in a good location, close to Times Square. We would stay there again and recommend it to anyone, especially families.
"Good Location, spacious room"
Our first trip to NYC was great. The hotel was spacious, there were 2 adults with 2 school age children. It was difficult to find a room in the city for 2 queen beds in one room, we were happy to have found this one. The room was spacious enough to hold our luggages. The pool was great, the only draw back was that it closes at 9pm on weekends and 10pm […] on weekdays. But we did manage to use it a few times. Our daughter loved going into the pool after long days of sight seeing. There is a deli accross the street from the hotel called the Skyline deli, the food was decent and inexpensive. You could get an egg/bacon bagel for $1.95. We had breakfast from there everyday. The NYC cops even eats there so we know that the food is quite good and clean. There were lots of restaurants on 9th avenue too. Within 10 minutes walk is Times Square, we were quite happy that we did not stay there as it was nice to get a good night's sleep away from the huzzle and buzzle. Subway was on 8th avenue. With the little kids, we did the hop on hop off tours, we go to see lots of museums, sights. On the night tour, we went to Brooklyn and there was a firework at the the same time; NYC was very beautiful. For the kids, they liked the American Natural History Museum. My favourite was the Tenentment Museum and the MET. I liked the Top of the Rock while my husband like the Empire State Building. We found that most New Yorkers were helpful. We would return again to this hotel and city. Read more

For the price and location you cannot go wrong. The hotel needs some renovations but it is clean and staff was friendly We had one small issue with the a/c not working but it was fixed by the next night. We had 4 adults in the room with 2 doubles and there was lots of room for everyone's stuff. Within walking distance to boardway, restuarants, subway […] lines, and time square. It is in a quiet area a night but safe environment We would stay here again Read more

"The Skyline Hotel in New York City"
This was our first trip to New York City with our children. It was conveniently close to everything we needed. Time Square, One Stop Subway to Battery Park,Affordable Cab to Central Park & Museums! It wasn't new, but it was clean! Parking was the best deal in NYC! There was a lovely coffee shop (Skyline) across the street and the coffee was better than […] Starbucks & Tim Horton's. All in all, I have no complaints. Although it wasn't state of the art, it provided us with a clean roof over our heads while we visited this amazing city! Read more
"Skyline Hotel in New York"
Walking distance to cruise ship. Well maintained rooms and very comfortable beds. Reasonably priced.
"Skyline Hotel, NY, NY a good experience."
Check in and check out was easy and painless. A coulpe of small issues.... The car parking was only $10 ( GREAT PRICE FOR NYC) however it was only for storage parking (No In and Out service). Heating unit did not work, however being Canadian we did manage, Also the safe was not funtional. A secuirity guard came to check it out, but he did not fix nor […] did anyone else. The swimming pool was a great feature to have especially when travelling with children. It is located on the ninth floor (PH). As soon as you got out the elevator, you had a great view of Midtown. The room was large and clean. The washroom was recently renovated and very clean. However, you can hear people talking from adjacent rooms, but it was not a issue because we were to tired from all the walking and the evening swims. Located in HELLS KITCHEN area of NYC there was a lot great restuarants in the neighbour hood, We did not eat on site, so therefore I cannot comment on the food. If you walk about 10 minutes east on 49th Str. you will be in the middle of Time Square If you walk another 5-8 mins east, you will be at the Rockafeller Cntr (NBC Studios). WHAT GREAT LOCATION!!!!! "New York's Hidden Gem!"
This hotel was really great. Check-in and check-out was really easy. The staff was also very friendly and very helpful; especially Crystal at the concierge desk. I can't find any bad things to say about our stay at the Skyline. The location is also fantastic; a five minute walk from Times Square, Central Park and tons of other great places and famous […] landmarks.I would definietely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good place to stay in New York for an affordable price. "Great value in great location"
I stayed for business in Jan 2011 and was pleasantly surprised. Clean room with recently renovated bathroom. Nice hotel with pool and nice lobby. Terrific location and guests park under the hotel for just $10 a day. Can't be beat for the $.
"Cheap, Clean"
It was fairly cheap compared to oher hotels in NY, but had more of a motel feel. But you're not spending that much time in the room anyways - it's the city that never sleeps!!! I used it for was a place to store my stuff in between shopping and food and drinks. Oh, and the odd nap also.
"poor condition"
Leaky faucett tht dripped all night, uncomfortable bed not a good neigborhood worn carpet. Rather run down. Staff tries to make up for it. They are helpful and pleasant. I would have expected cheaper rates for such a worn hotel.
"Very convenient arriving by car. Nice pool!"
Perfectly fine/adequate hotel, albeit, nothing too, too fancy. Parking garage is right there. Simply walk back up the ramp entrance into the hotel - simple & easy. They do have a very nice sized roof-top pool with a greenhouse type enclosure facilitating skyline views. (hence, the hotel's name?) Even with plenty of travelers w/kids, practically had […] the whole pool to myself. Yea! Overall, a very convenient, comfortable hotel, with a friendly and accomodating staff. Certainly, it's a pleasant enough hotel to recommend. Read more

"Great Location, Reasonable Price"
Great location and the price was very reasonable. Older hotel, but clean and standard size rooms for New York City.
"so so"
just so so - modest accomodations but for the price it was clean.

"Overalll pleased"
The a/c in the room was broken - it kept blowing out heat. They were able to give us another room. I wasn't happy about having to move - b ut they were very helpful.

"Price and amenities"
Based on price, amenities, and its favorable location, this is a very affordable quality. The parking facility is definite plus.
"Skyline Hotel - best of all worlds"
As a family with small kids, we love this hotel ,close to the heart of NYC. ...Within walking distance of Times Square or Broadway, convenient to get to from the Lincoln Tunnel, small grocery and liquor stores right across the street. The Roof top Indoor pool is a winner with the kids too. Thanks for a comfortable, safe journey. One critique - unlimited […] wi-fi would be a bonus. Having to pay extra for it was a disappointment. "1 night in new york"
Business trip with just one night in NY however found the hotel clean, but busy, well located, and easily found. Friendly reception, but disco in bar. However it didnt disturb me during the night though.
"Skyline Hotel in NY"
Pool was nice, No free WiFi. The faucet in the sink and tub would not shut off and had a constant run of low water. The room smelled stale. Parking was a disaster. Excellent location and comfortable beds. People working there were nice....
"Nice location."
Not too far from a subway station and in close walking distance to several sites. As I found with several hotels wireless Internet access in the room is an extra charge and per device. This is something that needs to be rolled into the cost of the room. At the cost of this room there is no reason wifi isn't completely free.

"Retro Style Hotel perfect for Lower West Side"
This hotel exhibits all the charm of 1940's and 50's. It's luxurious for that age and incredibly "retro". Being New York, the air conditioning didn't seem to work right but for March the temperatures were fine. The toilet/shower area is very small and cramped, but not a dealbreaker for us. The vanity is plenty big to prepare yourself for your day. We […] had two double beds which were more than adequate. No free Internet. The restaurant next door (PJ's) is great, but there are also lots of other places around the neighborhood. We felt very safe walking around, even up to Central Park and Times Square. Recommended! "Pleasant surprise"
The hotel was priced right and was nicer than we expected. Good service and very clean. Would go back
"bad maintenance"
The hotel is 10 mins away from Times Square and all the touristy things you could do in NYC. That's the good side. Maintenance and service were disappointing. The heat was off; I called the reception three times and waited for one hour before somebody showed up. He poked the heating and said nothing could be done. They did offer that we move to another […] room but the kid was already asleep, so htat wasn't an option for us. We spent the night freezing. They didn't have hair conditioner in the room; when i asked the maid, turned out they only have shampoo combined with conditioner. My hair looked awful all day. No water in the room. Read more

"Was going to the Armory Show"
Very convenient to the Piers. Everything worked well.
"nice place reasonably priced"
The hotel is nice, clean. The restaurant has good food. my only complaint was that was not enough chlorine in the pool. You just felt diry being in the pool. The kids loved it.
"Still love this family owned hotel"
Before moving to NYC I stayed at this hotel often. Now that I live here I still refer friends and family to this place and I also stay there myself on occassion. The only problem is that breakfast and internet are not included. My suggestion to them is to really become a family hotel and offer those basic imminities.
