Enjoyed my stay immensely. Each room in hotel has a balcony - some with better views than others but that was not pertinent to my stay. I believe there are only 8 rooms on each floor - which means it is very quiet and you almost never see your neighbors. Restaurant in lobby is good. The only thing I really did not like was that room service was not […] available but you could get "to go" from the lobby restaurant. Room was spacious!!!! Bathrooms are not the largest and the facilities are dated but nothing that interfered with my stay. The shopping and convenience of the location on Robson can't be beat . . .There are restaurants of every type(ethnic foods, upscale/fancy, dessert shops, etc.,), places to buy grocery items, clothing(Aldo, Guess) and it not far from the Pacific Centre shopping center. and the University of British Columbia - Vancouver. Complimentary bath robes are provided as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

My only complaint is that the lobby was small and extremely busy. Since they have no concierge you can end up waiting a long time to get a simple question answered.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value for the money"
The Blue Horizon was in a great location (safe at night), had extremely helpful staff (they recommended 2 great restaurants for us), the trolley pickup is directly outside the hotel entrance, and there are plenty of shops, coffee shops, and things to do nearby. The beds were really comfortable, as were the down pillows and super comfortable robes. We […] liked having a refrigerator in our room. The rooms were very large with amazing views. For the price, it can't be beat. I would definitely stay here next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great hotel. Friendly staff. CLEAN, BIG room, I got a double, not the single, but the extra room was great, I liked the layout of the hotel, only a few rooms on each floor, the windows, oh my god, the view!!! Incredible. Balcony another nice plus. The robes were a nice touch. Quiet, never heard anyone else the whole time I was there. Right in the middle […] of the shopping district, food and shops everywhere. Close to everything, and the bus and rail are very close as well. I loved Vancouver, and I loved this hotel, and I WILL stay there again. No car, I did not drive in, so cannot comment on that. The little restaurant and pub were great, and Shenanagans was quiet, but friendly. I went in on a Monday, so no surprise there. Only negative was no wireless internet, I had to hardwire in, which meant sitting at the desk or the chair with the fabulous plush robe and the great view. So hard!! I expected, for the price, to find an average hotel. Blue Horizon was WAY beyond that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst Customer Service"
Stayed for 4 nights this week. We chose the hotel based on great reviews across review sites. However, our experience didn't measure up. We'll never stay at this hotel again. We've stayed at at least 4 hotels in Vancouver and Blue Horizon has the worst customer service. The wired network didn't work in our room. This sometimes happens at older hotels. […] Sometimes it's the Ethernet cable so I travel with my own. Other times, the hotel reboots its network equipment to solve the problem. But not this time. The night of check-in, as soon as we realized the Internet wasn't working, we contacted the front desk. I was transferred to their ISP. They couldn't solve the problem and escalated it to Network Admin, but it'd be 24 hours before they’d get back (and they never did.) Meantime, we asked the front desk to give us another room. It took them 2 days, after unpleasant and unhelpful interaction with edgy, defensive Summer, to give us another room while claiming "You're the only one complaining" and blaming my laptop. The Internet worked in this other room. If you need to use the Internet at the hotel and are given Rm 1204, you should ask for another room. An employee said hotel management is so cheap that they won't replace the archaic network with wireless and that they face the connection problems 3-4 times a week. "Close but not too close"
Price for quality was well worth it. We did not want to be directly in the heart of the action and still wanted nice accomodations. This fit the bill to a tee. 8 rooms to a floor also gave it more of a private feel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay!"
My sister & I were given a corner room with a great view on 27th floor. Expected to get one queen bed but were given two! Room very clean and could not hear city noise from so far up. Were pleasantly surprised to see that room was equipped with mini fridge and bathrobes as well as a very nice closet. Great water pressure in shower! Hotel provided parking […] at reasonable rate in their own garage with anytime in/out permission. Only complaint is that the high-speed internet service was very spotty. we always stay at the Blue Horizon when in Vancouver as it is close to everything downtown (just have to step out the front door and you're at all the stores, restaurants and coffee shops) and very roomy for a family of 4. "Blue Horizon Hotel, Vancouver, BC"
We have been staying at the Blue Horizon for over 20 years and find it continues to be one of the best deals in town. Consistently clean and well-kept rooms and facilities, helpful staff, and great location with good transit service. On-site parking (though for a fee) also makes this convenient when traveling by car.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver - great location"
Hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to lots of shopping and restaurants. Gastown and even Granville Market (although it's a little bit of a hike) are within walking distance. Staff was generally pretty helpful. The room was very large although the bathroom was pretty tight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Hotel was in the middle of Robinson St and a very happening location. Lots of shopping and restaurants. Although I found some hair on the floor of the bathroom, (not mine) it was clean and comfortable. The room was spacious and had recently been remodled. "Blue Horizon - Best Location in ALL of Vancouver"
I recently visited Vancouver and stayed in the best location for a hotel ever!!! It is right in the center of EVERYTHING!! The Trolley, Bus and Big Bus all stop right in front of the hotel. You have shops and dining if you turn left or turn right for as far as the eye can see. Walking distance to everything the Vancouver has to offer including Gastown, […] Yaletown, and easy way to catch anything to go further, like Stanley Park and North Vancouver. Robson street is Fashion capitol and if you like shopping, stay here, you can shop all day and just keep dropping it off at the hotel (hear that, no more carrying bags forever men!!) You can hit Grandville Street and the bay and City Center from this central location. only problem i had is that if you want a goo view, you will need to go to the superior suites, lower suites are nice but have a not so great view. Also, the Customer service is OUTSTANDING!! they can tell you anything you need to know and if they don't know, they always have Google up to get you whatever info they need. I love this hotel and would stay here again the next time i visit Vancouver!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Loved the Blue Horizon!"
We recently spent 3 nights at the Blue Horizon hotel in Vancouver. It was a very pleasant experience! The most lucky thing was that the hotel is located on a nice street (Robson street); it's near downtown but in an upper-scale section of residential high rises and nice shops. I had no fear of walking down the well-lit street at night. There are plenty […] of restaurants and shops within walking distance, and great views of the city. Upon arrival we were told we'd been upgraded from a standard 1-queen-bed room to a 2-queen-bed room, which made our room 100 square feet bigger (from 300 to 400 sf)! It was very spacious and comfortable. Two walls have windows and every room has a balcony. There's a large closet and plush bathrobes. The TV is big and there's a mini-fridge. The bathroom is small considering the size of the rest of the room, but it was fine for the two of us. We got a good deal on hotels.com and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality to price ratio, especially considering what an expensive city Vancouver is known to be. If our travels take us back to Vancouver we will stay at the Blue Horizon again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Blue Horizon - Value and Location"
I've stayed at many of Vancouver's hotels, from budget to luxury, and the Blue Horizon sits in between. The location in the midst of Robson can't be beat, the views are great, and the beds are comfy. I found it curious that this hotel has an "official" 3-star rating but a 4-1/2-star rating from travelers themselves...well, it doesn't have some of the […] touches and amenities of a luxury hotel but what they do, they do well. Check-in was fast, but I know that can vary widely (NEVER expect fast check-in or check-out at the hotel's check-out time) and when we misplaced our keys they were cheerfully replaced. Parking is of course extra but at one of the lowest rates of any Vancouver hotel. The room itself was great (read the other reviews regarding the views) if modestly appointed. The coffeemaker needed replacing (they just get permanent coffee stains after a while and they're cheap to replace) but otherwise it was clean. Although they've got their own restaurant (yet no room service) and bar, being right there on Robson meant all of my favorites were nearby. I will definitely stay at the Blue Horizon again. We have stayed at this hotel over the years; it only gets better. Our huge room was newly redecorated and exceptionally pleasant--no edgy or over-trendy decor. While my room was "updated", it wasn't comfortable. The bathtub was old with grungy non-slip stickers on the bottom. If I left the closet door open, then it blocked the entrance to the bathroom. "Blue Horizon on Robson"
If you want a place to stay that is in a lively area, then stay here! Robson is a street with lots of shops, restaurants, bars and people. It also had a "hop on, hop off" tourist bus location right outside their door so it was very convenient. There were many, many interesting stores and restaurants. You really don't need to drive when you stay here. […] We got around quite well. Though the street was busy on a Saturday night, the hotel was very quiet. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. The only complaint was that we had to ask for shampoo and conditioner. There was none in our bathroom. It was brought up right away though when we asked for it. If I were going to Vancouver again, I'd stay here. Reasonable rates, clean hotel, friendly staff and a fun area. I stayed at this hotel for a business conference as is was recommended by a website hosting the show. The price was fair and upon initial seeing the place I thought it would be great. However Iearned when I got up to my room after checking in that the hotel is NOT equipped with Wifi internet service, each room has 1 hardware (ethernet wire) to plug […] in to access internet. Being that I was traveling with only my Macbook air and ipad (both with no ethernet port) I realized that there was no way I would be able to handle my emails etc. from the hotel room. When I went down to the front desk to explain this the staff was very rude and told me they would have to charge for 1 night, no exceptions. I ended up having to find a local mac store and purchase an adapter just to stay at this hotel, and this left me binded to the desk my whole stay. "good hotel but technical issues"
overall i can recommend the hotel. good location ( i went to a convention in the convention center and it was only 10 min walk from the hotel to the convention center). many restaurants and shops nearby. there are even small grocery stores nearby. Except for one little thing that was annoying. i had no internet access the last day i stayed. all suddenly […] i could not connect to the internet (broadband modem...no wifi). I so called the front desk and they connected me to the technical service. Then i was spending 20 min on the phone telling the person all kinds of technical settings and in the end they could not help me. So they said that they would call me back and try to resolve the problem. I said that I am a "guest" in the hotel and I am not going to spend my last evening in front of my computer trying to get my internet to run again. So that was rather disappointing experience for me esp. when you have to check your emails ...in the end i had to use my cell phone with roaming to check my emails. ;( Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Blue Horizon Hotel is a Great Value in Vancouver"
I was nervous at first booking a room at the Blue Horizon because several reviews mentioned it was being renovated. But the renovations (at least to the rooms) seemed to be complete by the time I arrived in Vancouver. I couldn't have been happier with my choice! The Blue Horizon is in the heart of downtown Vancouver and everything I wanted to see was […] within an easy 5 -15 minute walk. The renovations are quite nice. The rooms are moderately sized, as are the bathrooms, but they're all quite comfortable and lovely. Every room is a "corner" room, so you're guaranteed to have something of a view. I booked a higher floor room (2204) and the views were amazing, both during the day and night. The swimming pool area could use a renovation. Hopefully that's next on their list. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay and will certainly come back to the Blue Horizon. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Recently stayed at this hotel in August 2011. The front desk staff were very pleasant and friendly. The location was great. "Best Overall Value in Vancouver"
We were looking for a nice, comfortable room that was convenient for getting to all the sites in this fantastic city...without spending a fortune. Blue Dolphin surpassed our expectations. Location: This was key for us. It's right in the heart of everything. On Robson Street, near great restaurants, bars, and shopping. I liked its proximity to Stanley […] Park. I recommend renting bikes and taking a ride through this amazing park. There are several open-aired balcony bars/restaurants within a block of the Blue Dolphin. Rooms: Our room was at the lowest price level, but it was extremely clean and spacious. There is a safe and plenty of room for even the heaviest packers. Very comfortable and quiet at night, which is important to us. The 180 degrees of windows provided a nice view of the city as well. The shades kept the light out in the morning. Staff: The employees checking us in were very kind and were helpful in giving advice as to where to go and how to get there. We were there during the riots following the Stanley Cup Finals. However, this didn't diminish our love for this city. Almost everyone we interacted with were extremely kind and welcoming. We can't wait to return and will definitely stay at the Blue Dolphin again.
