"We would come back - St. Lucia is beautiful!"
We felt this hotel offered great value and enjoyment for the amount paid. The rooms and bathroom were clean, the staff was very kind and helpful, the activities were organized and abundant and we had an overall positive feeling about the place. The facilities and hotel and its various amenities were "tired" and needed "freshening up" . The food was […] not great or less than good, but it was definitely edible. Thankfully the beauty of St. Lucia and its overall island way of life take over and a good time is had by all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great first time to the island stay..."
Our stay was wonderful! The staff and all of the people we met on the island were so friendly and willing to make sure our stay with them was perfect! The room was clean and the beach was beautiful. I would have enjoyed a little more variety in the restaurant options, but other than that, we were very impressed with the service we received during our […] stay. "PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH MORGAN BAY!"
My husband and I had several issues with this hotel/resort; the first two days, our room wasn't cleaned ...housekeeping doesn't make a point of cleaning the rooms when you are out....they seem to clean the rooms when it is convenient for them. One day the maid came when we were in the room (getting beach stuff) ...asked her to come back in 10 min..she […] never returned that day. I phoned Housekeeping and asked if they could clean our room when we are out.....everything was ok for the rest of the week. Another issue: Excursion we paid for and planned...got up early day of..no one showed up, so I spoke to the tour agent at the hotel and she made a quick phone call..apparently the excursion was cancelled (we were not informed). We were very upset. Even though we were reimbursed we were still angry. Last but not least, I left my umbrella on the buggy and I was told that it was found, but the staff/driver didn't hand it in to Guest Services. That is called stealing in Canada! I will never go back there again. Not once did they apologize about this issue. The buffet breakfasts were very boring...same food everyday! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Island!-Will stay somewhere else next time..."
Beach is small and had seaweed until you walk in up to your waist. Additional $25 per person surcharge for Le Jardin restaurant at an all-inclusive resort is ridiculous especially when there was no difference in food selection or quality of service from other restaurants on the resort. Not much for nightly entertainment. Went to room by 10 every night. […] No electrical outlets in bathroom. Not much for kids/teens to do in evenings. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Godd all round relaxation."
Deluxe Ocean view room beautiful, had top floor with magnificent view. Resort attractive with small but well kept beach with water-sports available free. If you're interested in snorkeling very poor off beach but Scuba Steve trips pick up off beach and are great. 2 pools in center of resort near bars very busy , personally preferred small quiet pool […] and bar tucked away up the hill. There was also a nice family pool which also did good lunchtime snacks, on the other side of the resort. Good choice of eating: very casual buffet and 2 a la cart restaurants in all inclusive deal plus another very smart looking restaurant at a fixed price we didn't try, had too strict a dress code for us. Breakfast very good buffet style and lovely omelettes made to order. Staff generally very friendly and helpful, especially in restaurants and bars. Entertainment very mixed, good local reggae and steel bands plus an amazing fire eating and local dance act but dreadful karaoke and staff talent night. Clientele mostly american, canadian and british, make of that what you will. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good (but not great) family holiday."
This was our first all inclusive holiday. The room was basic, but adequate. The bed was comfortable. The fixtures and fittings were dated and in need of some attention- one of the towel rails fell off under the weight of my swimming trunks! The general finish of the hotel was a little rough around the edges- paintwork unfinished. Swimming pools very […] nice- 2 allowing kids and 2 for adults- a nice balance- none were overcrowded and loungers were a plenty. Bars also in close proximity to the pools. Our only real complaints were the standard of the food, and the variable standard of the bar staff and reception staff. Food was good at the children's pool (lunch and afternoon snacks). Quality and choice was also good at the Palms. Service and quality was lacking at the Bamboo and the Pier restaurants in the evenings. The Pier, however, has a good lunch, and with the sun setting over the sea and the warm breeze blowing in, you can almost accept the poor food in the evening for the great setting. The bar staff in the evenings seemed to be having as good a time as us, and that included helping themselves to wines and cocktails too. We had an evening flight home, and all week we had asked reception for a late check-out. We were fobbed off at least 4 times during the week with excuses like 'we can't be sure of availability until later in the week'. Eventually on the morning of departure day they said we could check out late, but we would have to change rooms for the extra 6 hours. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Our week at Morgan Bay Resort"
There was much confusion when we arrived. We had chosen, after consultation with their staff months earlier, a particular building because of our limited mobility. On arrival they wanted to put us in a different building but we stood our ground and eventually got the room we had originally reserved. The shuttle service was excellent. The drivers were […] superb and the shuttles were an appropriate size and in great working order. There was little concern over our lost luggage and we were brushed off when inquiring of it's arrival. Our Canadian travel clothes were hardly suitable for the hot sunny weather of St. Lucia. The food service was well done for having so many guests. It stretched us a little trying new foods (including green banana soup). We had all but two meals in the Palms restaurant, the others were one lunch and one dinner at Morgan's Pier. Items of clothing sent to the resort laundry clearly marked as having food stains were returned with the stains intact - clearly frustrating considering these were brand new clothes. The staff were the most friendly I've ever met! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We stayed here for the all inclusive experience, however the food choices were disappointing and the restaurant seating areas unhygienic. "Relax at the Morgan Bay"
Just returned, we travelled from 21 Feb to 2 Mar 12. The hotel was very well presented, the reception is open plan and very stylish. We were warmly greeted and once key cards & safe keys had been allocated, we were ferried in the golf buggy to our room. The room was very clean and had a lovely view over the sea (1st Floor - Superior Beach Front Rm […] - 600 block). There are plenty of sockets covering both 2-pin US (110v) and 3-pin UK (240v). We kept the AC on permanently, but easy to control with the remote. Big TV with Cable TV, clock radio. The room was furnished nicely and well lit. There are 4 resturants, the Palms, Morgan'sPier, Bamboo and Le Jardin. You have to book tables in advance for all except the the Palms - note: be sure you do book! They allow you to book 3 days in advance, and don't leave it too late in the day else you'll end up with a 9pm sitting. In order of preference: Bamboo, Morgan's Pier, Palms, Le Jardin. The Palms offers a 7-day rotating themed menu. The others seem to have a set menu each evening. Lunch is served in Palms (buffet style#, Pier #BBQ Buffet# and Bamboo #3-course menu). The quality of the food considering the quantities of food being served was great. The beach was clean, open and had great shade if you want it, there are decent pools, bars and great water sport opportunities - I got Hobie Cat training while I was there and had a great time impoving my sailing skills. All in all we had a great time, loved the friendly staff! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Too quiet and reserved."
The hotel and grounds were quite nice. Some of the items like air conditioning was not great. The phone in our room never worked. But most importantly the place was too quiet for us. We are an active outgoing couple and the environment was quiet and restful, which is ok but not exactly what we wanted. In fact, St Lucia as an island is beautiful but […] very quiet and reserved. We had a wonderful time at this hotel. The quality of service was excellent as was the food and drink. Exceeded our expectations in every area. "Extremely pleasant stay"
Quite close to Castries, the Almond Morgan Bay is just off the main road traversing the island. We hired a car in Vieux Fort and drove over, allowing us to explore St Lucia as well as having the benefits of an all-inclusive. The hotel was great, with extremely welcoming staff, who were both helpful and friendly. I really appreciated the slightly formal […] touches- booking into a restaurant for a proper a la carte dinner each night, dressing properly in the evening etc was all marvellous, with none of the awful cattle market buffets for evening meals. The watersports were lots of fun, although some of the Hobie sails are getting slightly tired, but the staff couldn't have been more helpful or vigilant. You do have to sign up for things early tho, as they get booked up quickly. The beach is quite small for the size of the hotel, but wasn't particularly crowded, despite the myriad of sun loungers. For the first time, my partner is actually talking about going back soon! I shall certainly be joining him. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wonderful relaxing holiday!"
10/23/14 Esther R Delabole, United Kingdom
Travelled with my husband and our 2 twenty something daughters, first trip to Caribbean and first all-inclusive- need not have worried! Check-in was efficient, aided by a welcome rum punch, buggy took us to our rooms which were third floor in the 200 block, overlooking the site and with wonderful sea views. There are so many positive things to be said but I feel the main plus were the staff; all were friendly, helpful and attentive, going out of their way to make guests feel very welcome. We were especially fond of Agnes, who cooks breakfast eggs in Bambou! There are several very good pools, each with their own features, lots of loungers and seating so there was never a feeling of overcrowding. The grounds are very well kept, full of trees, flowering shrubs and wildlife( the tree frogs at night are quite often as loud as the entertainment!) Everywhere was kept immaculately clean and tidy. The small beach is partly shaded by trees, which is very pleasant and is where a wide range of water sports and beach activities are provided, again the staff very helpful and friendly. There are a wide range of offsite activities, including horseriding which can be booked at extra cost at reception. The site has several restaurants and other eating places, we tried all of them and the food varied between good and excellent wherever we ate. Our particular favourites were Morgans Pier and Bambou. Everywhere except Plums needs to be booked in advance but this is easily done in reception, where advance menus ( which change every 2 days)are also on display. One of my daughters had a birthday while we were here, and staff went out of their way to lay a special breakfast table for us in Bambou and we paid the surcharge to eat in Le Jardin and had a wonderful meal, well worth it.She also had a little birthday cupcake and Happy Birthday sung for her by the waiters and the resident pianist! Several bars in the pool areas, lot of fun, very good cocktails, again fun and friendly staff, if sunbathing on the beach you are given a red flag to wave so that bar staff know you are having a drink related emergency! They will rush to your aid :) There are no really negative things to report- There were a few issues with our room when we arrived; no kettle, no door chain, no lock for safe; all were dealt with within an hour. Sometimes cleaning wasn't done til the afternoon and towels were not replaced til late in the day but it was always done. The gym is being refurbished so was not fully functional but my daughters were able to enjoy very good Pilates classes. This was a wonderful holiday which we all really enjoyed and one which I would happily repeat!
"BEST 2 WEEKS OF MY LIFE - PARADISE!!"
10/23/14 Amanda M Stirling, Scotland
I stayed here with 14 family & friends from 1st Oct - 16th Oct. Check in was a nightmare, very rushed and manic. prepare yourself for the check in, it wont be easy. Also they will ask you to complete a form, you will need to enter your credit card details - a lot people weren't happy about this so another thing to watch for. Once check in is over you are taken away by golf buggy to your room and this is when the dream starts. This resort is heaven, amazing food, plenty of it, clean, the rooms are gorgeous (we had a beach front room - wow!!!) and the staff are friendly - they work very hard, but they always seem to smile and wish you a good day. For an extra supplement you can dine in Le Jardine - amazing food, well worth the extra money (we dined here 3 times!!). All the restaurants are amazing though, I'm very fussy with food and I cant fault any of them and always something I liked on the menu. The water sports are FREE, well apart from the jet ski, and they are so much fun. Every day we did something, what a laugh we had. You need to try Joys Cruises, he is located at the beach. The first week we done the full day trip, you go by speed boat to the Pitons, mud bath, water fall, snorkelling and lunch on a beach. What a fab day!!! cant recommend them enough, very well organised and you feel perfectly safe all day. The second week we done a sunset cruise (there were 16 of us) and from 3pm - 7pm we got to see the sights, and done snorkelling again. The place they take you snorkelling is out of this world - you are right next to the Pitons and the view is stunning. Joy and his family are lovely. We got married out there and he gave us a bottle of champers and Just Married T Shirts. They will also make you a cake if you are celebrating an anniversary and it is lovely. Overall this resort is amazing - you wont be disappointed. Loved the Choc Bay café - the Ice Chocolate is delicious as were the cakes!!! The beds are so comfy as well, the best bed I have slept in. HOWEVER, the reason I gave it for 4 stars and not 5 is due to the wedding day itself. We got married on the resort, the wedding itself was perfect, I had the best day of my life. We hired the steel band, well worth the extra money, and got married in the gazebo overlooking the Caribbean on a cliff top - wow!!! There was me and my husband and 14 guests. When we met Pam (who is wonderful) she explained everything and ran through it all. It then came to light we had to pay for our seats for the wedding!!!! Its $15 for a fully decorated seat or $4 for a plain white wooden seat. I was appalled by this!!! They can give you a free manicure but not a seat for your guests. We had all spent a fortune to come to this resort and yet we weren't given a free seat. Shocking!!! To make matters worse, we had a table booked at Morgans Pier for our dinner - they knew there was 16 of us. My bestman checked on the table and was shocked to see they had 2 tables of 8 - when he tried to get them to join them up he was told there wasn't any room - clearly there was plenty of room. He spoke to a manager and they wouldn't budge. We had 2 separate tables for our wedding dinner. Not the best situation as I would of liked to have sat with everyone. It meant I not got to sit next to my bridesmaid or my brother. That kind of put a spoiler on the day. Last mention to the photographer, Forbes, what a brilliant guy!! Would highly recommend him. His photos were amazing, exactly what we wanted. He was so laid back and made us feel at ease all day. If you are getting married you need to get him to take your photos because our photos are just the best, he took the exact photos I wanted, huge thanks to him!! Apart from this, my holiday was amazing!!!! Would go back in a heart beat!!!
"A relaxing vacation on a tropical island"
10/22/14 terrisvacations Brampton, Canada
I would say that this resort caters to couples and ppl travelling alone who need to get away and do nothing but relax, eat and drink. This resort is super clean and the staff are very accommodating. If you are a beach person, this resort isn't for you, in fact, this island isn't for you as the beaches are very small/short...no long walks on the beach...however, the water is nice and warm and wonderful to swim in. There are 4 pools, 2 cater to children and 2 are strictly adult only.....the one on the top of the hill is very peaceful....the only disadvantages are that you are far from a bathroom and any food. Another minus about this resort is the lack of entertainment....not much goes on in the evenings after dinner. The food is awesome, the best I have ever had at any resort that I have been to in my travels.

The staff were the most attentive we've ever experienced. Lots of fantastic pools to suit all tastes . The room required some attention on arrival ,this was soon addressed . My wife was ill during the holiday and the staff rose magnificently to meet her needs , well done !.
"Relaxing and enjoyable holiday"
10/21/14 L16gsy England
Arrival Once dropped off by taxi after over an hours ride from the airport, was offered a local fruit drink and asked to fill in an account form with credit card details. Then hung around until I found out we needed to get a buggy to take us up the hill to our suite. The buggy drivers are all very courteous but reception needs to get better organised as people arriving were not guided and people departing at the same time were wondering which taxi was for them. It gets very busy and lots of people hanging around when there are arrivals and then departures all happening at the same time! Rooms Had an ocean view suite in block 10 on 4th floor, The weather was over 30 degrees so to find the air conn on in the rooms was a bonus to get started with. The fridge in the room was empty (pity as it's a long walk down hill and back up again if you want a cold drink) most other resorts I have stayed in that are all inclusive leave some water and soft drinks and even local beer in a fridge in the room. The fridge we found to be very noisy, so disconnected it as it wasn't being used. We went for a walk around to find out as much as we could about the resort before going for dinner in the Buffet restaurant. There are 4 room blocks at the top of the hill, and our room was in one of the blocks. It's quite a hike up to these blocks, but we always went to reception and got a buggy to take us to the room. Some people who were less able than us were phoning for a buggy to take them down the hill too, but we were OK walking down, just couldn't face the hike up the hill all the time. The room was cleaned every day and bedding and towels changed when requested. I asked for the room to be serviced earlier as we were going back to the room for a rest in the afternoon to find it still hadn't been cleaned. That was quickly sorted out for us. Pools The pools are all clean and well maintained. There is a swim up bar in the main pool. There is also an over 18's pool with a bar up the hill by the 4 accommodation blocks. Entertainment. There was often early evening entertainment put on, usually a local singer and every evening at 9:00 the main entertainment starts, this always finished at 11:00 so there was no thudding beat going on 'till the early hours! There are a number of restaurants, the buffet restaurant has a good selection of foods available for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the evening, no reservation is required and there were plenty of tables always available as our visit was just outside of the busy summer holiday period. Bambou, This eatery needs a booking if you want to eat here for dinner. It is a la carte with 3 different menu's in rotation, we ate here most nights as the food was well prepared, nicely presented and tasty. We also had breakfast here at times just for a change, but the food is much the same as in the buffet restaurant. Morgans Pier is a wooden pier jutting out into the sea. We booked here one night and had local caught grouper fish which was really good. This is a less formal environment, the staff all wear jeans but the service is just as good as in the other restaurants. Tree Tops is an Italian pizza and pasta restaurant, again, we booked here one night, but we're not impressed with the pizza, the base of which was too thin for our liking, so we didn't book to eat here again. Le Jardine is an air conditioned place, where all the others are open air. We did not have a special occasion to celebrate and didn't feel the need to pay extra to eat in here as the food elsewhere met our expectations. Cafe There is a cafe next to the Palms restaurant, where they serve great coffee and tasty cakes all day long. We dropped in here every afternoon instead of eating lunch and had coffee and cake. We usually went here for coffee after dinner as the coffee was so good with many liqueurs and spirits available to add as you desire! Beach The beach is a bleached white sand which gently slopes into the sea. There is lots of seaweed a few meters out, which you have to step through. This seaweed is constantly rolling up to the tide line, but the hotel gardeners are there two or three times a day with garden rakes cleaning it all away. The sea was still warm whilst we were there and there was always lots of people in the water. Water sports We took a double canoe out and went sailing in one of the three catamarans that are available. There were lots of people water ski'ing and kids on knee boards and a local guy who rents out a jet ski for half an hour which is the only chargeable sport at $50 (we negotiated this down to $40) it was good fun because the sea was calm. Location The resort is North of the Island and the main airport is South, so it's a good hour or more drive by local minibus taxi to get to the resort and then back again to the airport. A lot if people booked a private car taxi, which might be better but not much quicker as the roads aren't great so not much overtaking happening. Staff The staff everywhere throughout the resort are all warm and friendly, there is a red flag system to wave if you are on the beach and need a drink, which works well. Overall, we had a great 10 days at St James, the weather was great and we came back tanned, rested and relaxed, which is exactly what we wanted from the holiday, so no complaints from us! Thanks to all staff for making it a holiday to remember.
Had a fab time as my daughter got married at st James it was a fantastic day staff are great entertainment for children very poor not much better for adults at night journey from airport to hotel total nightmare it took abouts 2 hours very scared on the roads
"Fabulous holiday and a lovely, friendly hotel"
10/21/14 JoanneJoeyA Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
We stayed here for a week in June and we had a fantastic holiday. The hotel itself is beautiful and the pool area is huge and clean. The rooms were fantasic and fresh and the block we were in was quiet. This being said, a lot of blocks are quite far away from the main pool area. Despite there being the option of having a golf cart take you to and from your room (if you call down to reception) this is probably not the ideal hotel for those stuggling with mobility. On arrival we were giving a cocktail and taken straight to the dining room. The cocktail turned out to be a BBC (banana, baileys and coconut) and was a favourite of ours. The dining room was full of stray cats which some people didn't like but I was quite happy and fed them plenty! The food itself was great, the buffet was good but the restaurants were very good. Our favourite was the Morgans pier one. We didnt find one of the little restaurants up on the hill until near the end of the trip but the extra pool up there and american style food was really good. The tours from the hotel were ok but one we did (that was meant to encompass a bit of everything) felt a bit rushed. We were also not told that on arrival at the tour location you would have to choose between taking a mud bath and seeing the volcano (the leaflet had indictated you would do both). The activites run from the hotel's beach were good although they got booked up quite quickly so you have to get signed up first thing! The hotel is a good distance from casteries, which we took the local bus to (that was interesting!) and the market was amazing for shopping and really felt safe. The only downside to the hotel was that the beach itself was not very nice at all and was quite dull looking, especially as we had just arrived from the dominican where the beaches are beautiful and white. That being said, St Lucia was much more friendly than the Domincan and we had a fantasic week overall.

"St James Morgan Bay – good food, good people, nice hotel, not so nice beach"

On Arrival – transfer to hotel took about 1 1/2hrs while being driven on a narrow, winding road, driver was going pretty fast and you need to hang on (for dear life lol), but it was fun, and there is lush scenery on the way. At the hotel they greet you with nice tropical drink (strong rum included), but then you need to fill out some forms including your credit card# for incidental charges. Then you are taken right away to your room. Food – Food at the hotel was great, they had a different theme for every lunch and dinner setting (which makes things interesting, and gives you a chance to try a variety of food from different ethnic groups (Mexican, Indian, Italian, Oriental, Seafood, Paris-French etc). Breakfast was the same every day, but there was enough to choose from, more so catered to British culture. Drinks were good as well, especially the Mango and Strawberry daiquiris. Food quality is better here than other hotels I’ve been to in Cuba, Mexico and DR. Best A la carte was Morgans pier (the fish n chips, and chicken were excellent) Hotel & grounds – Hotel is not that large, and it is not on flat land, rather it is uphill, you have to walk on uphill slanted pathways, and stairs going downward. Do not recommend doing this climb right after you eat, will cause you to lose your breathe. There are superior rooms on a hillside, which requires you to climb about 5 flights of stairs (think about this before booking a superior room on hill) – however the view is really nice. A lot of flowers and fauna all around the hotel, including a mango tree. Hotel grounds are kept well and very clean. Room was nice, bright and clean, had mostly everything you need, except they didn’t provide water, pop, beers in a fridge as they do in other All-inclusive hotels. Surprisingly there were not too many mosquitoes which was a blessing. Beach – big disappointment, but I knew this before going. Water was murky, brown, sandy and not clear. One day when tide came in so did a lot of seaweed which was horrible. We went to Reduit beach where the water was beautiful and crystal clear. Don’t go to this hotel if you only want a great beach. Entertainment – needs improvement, they had singers, drum players, music, a dance - but lacked excitement. There was not much happening after dinner. You could play pool or ping pong that’s it. You would need to go to town for any disco or live entertainment about 10 mins away by bus/taxi. Weather & People – went end of May 2014 and the weather was perfect, it only rained 1 morning for 20 minutes, and 1 afternoon for 30 minutes and the rest of the week was pure sunshine. Good time to go and prices are lower, start of the low season. Employees at the hotel were friendly and nice, most Tourists were British, European and English speaking. Excursions – took Joys boat tour from the hotel to Soufriere, it was good but not great (bit overrated). Food on the tour was not good (only mango and pop were good, the rest eh). Speedboat ride was fun, but would not recommend for older individuals with back pain (very bumpy ride), mud bath was ok nothing spectacular, water springs was like a faucet tap open, wouldn’t call it a falls, and the beach between the pitons was ok (water was clear), saw bat cave, and rock formation – this tour in my opinion is not worth $100. I heard good things about the land and sea tour, may want to take that one instead. Also took the local city bus to the market in Castries, paid $1.5US one way I think, best to go on sat its busy a lot of hustle n bustle (bought vanilla, cocoa, spices), did not feel scared, felt like a local flea market. Also took the local bus into Reduit beach and Rodney Bay – there are 2 malls with many shops (wasn’t busy we went in morning/afternoon to shops then spent afternoon at Reduit beach) very nice crystal clear beach, you need to pay to use beach chair/umbrella, we just sat under tree with towel. Very happy with our time in St Lucia, next time if I go would pick a hotel with the better beach.
