"Godd all round relaxation."
Deluxe Ocean view room beautiful, had top floor with magnificent view. Resort attractive with small but well kept beach with water-sports available free. If you're interested in snorkeling very poor off beach but Scuba Steve trips pick up off beach and are great. 2 pools in center of resort near bars very busy , personally preferred small quiet pool […] and bar tucked away up the hill. There was also a nice family pool which also did good lunchtime snacks, on the other side of the resort. Good choice of eating: very casual buffet and 2 a la cart restaurants in all inclusive deal plus another very smart looking restaurant at a fixed price we didn't try, had too strict a dress code for us. Breakfast very good buffet style and lovely omelettes made to order. Staff generally very friendly and helpful, especially in restaurants and bars. Entertainment very mixed, good local reggae and steel bands plus an amazing fire eating and local dance act but dreadful karaoke and staff talent night. Clientele mostly american, canadian and british, make of that what you will. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good (but not great) family holiday."
This was our first all inclusive holiday. The room was basic, but adequate. The bed was comfortable. The fixtures and fittings were dated and in need of some attention- one of the towel rails fell off under the weight of my swimming trunks! The general finish of the hotel was a little rough around the edges- paintwork unfinished. Swimming pools very […] nice- 2 allowing kids and 2 for adults- a nice balance- none were overcrowded and loungers were a plenty. Bars also in close proximity to the pools. Our only real complaints were the standard of the food, and the variable standard of the bar staff and reception staff. Food was good at the children's pool (lunch and afternoon snacks). Quality and choice was also good at the Palms. Service and quality was lacking at the Bamboo and the Pier restaurants in the evenings. The Pier, however, has a good lunch, and with the sun setting over the sea and the warm breeze blowing in, you can almost accept the poor food in the evening for the great setting. The bar staff in the evenings seemed to be having as good a time as us, and that included helping themselves to wines and cocktails too. We had an evening flight home, and all week we had asked reception for a late check-out. We were fobbed off at least 4 times during the week with excuses like 'we can't be sure of availability until later in the week'. Eventually on the morning of departure day they said we could check out late, but we would have to change rooms for the extra 6 hours. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Our week at Morgan Bay Resort"
There was much confusion when we arrived. We had chosen, after consultation with their staff months earlier, a particular building because of our limited mobility. On arrival they wanted to put us in a different building but we stood our ground and eventually got the room we had originally reserved. The shuttle service was excellent. The drivers were […] superb and the shuttles were an appropriate size and in great working order. There was little concern over our lost luggage and we were brushed off when inquiring of it's arrival. Our Canadian travel clothes were hardly suitable for the hot sunny weather of St. Lucia. The food service was well done for having so many guests. It stretched us a little trying new foods (including green banana soup). We had all but two meals in the Palms restaurant, the others were one lunch and one dinner at Morgan's Pier. Items of clothing sent to the resort laundry clearly marked as having food stains were returned with the stains intact - clearly frustrating considering these were brand new clothes. The staff were the most friendly I've ever met! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fine for families on a budget."
We stayed here for the all inclusive experience, however the food choices were disappointing and the restaurant seating areas unhygienic. The watersports and entertainment was great, the beache was a little crowded but there are four poolas and of course the sea to bath in.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Relax at the Morgan Bay"
Just returned, we travelled from 21 Feb to 2 Mar 12. The hotel was very well presented, the reception is open plan and very stylish. We were warmly greeted and once key cards & safe keys had been allocated, we were ferried in the golf buggy to our room. The room was very clean and had a lovely view over the sea (1st Floor - Superior Beach Front Rm […] - 600 block). There are plenty of sockets covering both 2-pin US (110v) and 3-pin UK (240v). We kept the AC on permanently, but easy to control with the remote. Big TV with Cable TV, clock radio. The room was furnished nicely and well lit. There are 4 resturants, the Palms, Morgan'sPier, Bamboo and Le Jardin. You have to book tables in advance for all except the the Palms - note: be sure you do book! They allow you to book 3 days in advance, and don't leave it too late in the day else you'll end up with a 9pm sitting. In order of preference: Bamboo, Morgan's Pier, Palms, Le Jardin. The Palms offers a 7-day rotating themed menu. The others seem to have a set menu each evening. Lunch is served in Palms (buffet style#, Pier #BBQ Buffet# and Bamboo #3-course menu). The quality of the food considering the quantities of food being served was great. The beach was clean, open and had great shade if you want it, there are decent pools, bars and great water sport opportunities - I got Hobie Cat training while I was there and had a great time impoving my sailing skills. All in all we had a great time, loved the friendly staff! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Too quiet and reserved."
The hotel and grounds were quite nice. Some of the items like air conditioning was not great. The phone in our room never worked. But most importantly the place was too quiet for us. We are an active outgoing couple and the environment was quiet and restful, which is ok but not exactly what we wanted. In fact, St Lucia as an island is beautiful but […] very quiet and reserved. Enjoyed our 1 night at Almond Morgan Bay. Only slight problem was we had booked a room for 2 adults & 2 children through Expedia but hotel had only been advised of 2 adults and our room only had 1 double bed. On notification, Hotel responsed well, and offered us a move or to bring in 2 extra single beds. We chose the latter and whilst we were at Dinner […] all was taken care of. We had a wonderful time at this hotel. The quality of service was excellent as was the food and drink. Exceeded our expectations in every area. "Extremely pleasant stay"
Quite close to Castries, the Almond Morgan Bay is just off the main road traversing the island. We hired a car in Vieux Fort and drove over, allowing us to explore St Lucia as well as having the benefits of an all-inclusive. The hotel was great, with extremely welcoming staff, who were both helpful and friendly. I really appreciated the slightly formal […] touches- booking into a restaurant for a proper a la carte dinner each night, dressing properly in the evening etc was all marvellous, with none of the awful cattle market buffets for evening meals. The watersports were lots of fun, although some of the Hobie sails are getting slightly tired, but the staff couldn't have been more helpful or vigilant. You do have to sign up for things early tho, as they get booked up quickly. The beach is quite small for the size of the hotel, but wasn't particularly crowded, despite the myriad of sun loungers. For the first time, my partner is actually talking about going back soon! I shall certainly be joining him. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Almond Morgan Bay Hotel, St Lucia"
A rather old property which is showing its age. Needs money spent on it to be more competitive with modern all-inclusive hotels. Staff quality varied enormously, from the very friendly and excellent to providing an acceptable level of service only begrudgingly, which suggests a management problem. "Not 4 Star"

We spent 10 days at St James Club Morgan Bay for my birthday, it was the longest 10 days ever, this hotel was a disappointment from the start, we arrived late afternoon, a very long day, the check in was self service, collecting your key from a table in the lobby, no introduction,no welcome drink, no cold towel. when I did speak to a member of reception, I was informed that the room was not ready, an did I want a drink, having said Yes to a drink, the staff member was very rude and informed me the bar was "down there" and go and get one. The room was a beach front room in block 6, the fridge in the room did not work and is empty, ( a bottle of water would be nice), the hair dryer had a mind of its own, worked when it wanted to, The food in the Palms is not up to much, most of the time it is cold, I sent some raw chicken back via the manager, who never even acknowledge the fact it wasn't cooked and never even replaced it. The food in Le Jardin is nice, and the service by Larry and Junior is second to none, but the standard of food should be like this in all the restaurant's, the Tree Tops is awful, service slow and food bad. We had bad rain and wind one day and a parasol from the pool area fell and hit me on the head, not one member of staff came and asked if I was ok. They were to busy chatting laughing. Cats and Dogs wonder around the complex and do there business any where. You have to queue for all bar's and restaurants, for me this is not a four star hotel, you are lucky if it makes a 3. The Waiting Staff work very hard and are let down by the front of house staff and managers. If you like to queue for food and drink, bad food and bad attitude, small beach and animal mess on the sand, then this Hotel is for you. Me I had the birthday from hell

"You wont have any regrets booking this hotel."
09/27/14 Alibongo54 Poole
Okay, Most people have already commented on how great the hotel is several times over! Therefore I wont repeat it like most do on here, I will keep it brief and then tell you about some of the tours - get out of the hotel and see the Island - you wont regret doing that either! The complex although hilly is accessible to anyone with any kind of disability, the golf buggies will run you about if you need them too or if you are just too lazy to walk about the few slopes there are. The Coffee shop is new and I thought why would anyone want coffee in the Caribbean but this does work! - When it does rain this place is packed and everyone chats to one another, the staff are lovely too say high to Wille Johnny who is happy to chat when they are quiet. The sunset bar area needs refurbishing that I would say but everywhere else is great and I have heard there are some good plans for this resort - especially Tommys Hill top pool and bar area -- so watch for these to come all being well in the next few months! Theresa is up in Tommys Hill top bar from 2pm every day - go see her and ask her for a "WW"cocktail, this was a cocktail designed the week I was there on behalf of guests and we all said we would write about the WW on here and Theresa's Love Potion - she will tell you stories of her son and her life and you will enjoy her infectious life - Snagg will also be up there most days saying hi to all. As a single person I was made to feel at ease and the lovely guy who use to sit me for breakfast would often joke to his colleague he was taking me for breakfast and would be back or would say you need a nice seaview as your on your own. Wifi is accessible for free in a fair bit of the resort I could even get it on the beach of an evening! Okay so on to the tours - Yes you can do Joy's cruises if you want to see only a bit of the land but my preference was to pay a bit more and see a whole lot more of the Island by land and then catch a caterman back to Rodney Bay. An open top jeep (or closed roof coach) picks you up and takes you on the very winding roads down the west coast - several stops to see the views and take photos, you stop for some fresh fruit 1$ if you wish, you then go on to a little café for a mango drink and a local delicacy, heading onwards to the waterfall you get to swim in - tip where flip flops that can go in water as its pretty stoney, its bearable if you don't have waterproof flip flops though! Then on to the Botanical Gardens where you will see all there local fruits and flowers, then to the National Waterfall and then to the Volcano where you can do the mud baths if you so wish - I did, however I would not recommend this as the water was 100oF and therefore too hot to put a toe in let alone your whole body so we just had to splash ourselves with water, put mud on us, let it dry and shower off - not the experience I thought it would be! We then drove down to meet the catermaran back for the afternoon and a swim stop was included. Lunch was also included at a local restaurant- You will also get some amazing views of the Pitons. I went to Martinique - if you do not get on well on boats this trip is NOT for you! - The trip was run so efficiently by these guys as you have to clear immigration in Martinique but they do all this for you as you hand to them your passport and they give you a boarding number in return. They make a pit stop at immigration in Martinique to drop the crew off, you are then taken on the boat to the duty free shop - if you can call it that! Then the crew re-board and you go to the main town - take the optional free tour as there is nothing really to do in the town the shops that we did see after the tour were full of Chinese tat! The crossing back was choppy and some of the locals were ill.. the tourists did seem to be fine though - maybe the seasickness tablets given out helped! I did the Gondola trip over the rainforest and this was lovely, so peaceful high above the forest and the views coming back down of the Atlantic and the Caribbean sea were so lovely. People who went to the Friday night street party, fed back that they felt the local lads were trying to separate the girls from their partners and they did not enjoy this trip at all, as I was on my own I am glad I did not do this trip. You can get bus from outside the hotel to Rodney Bay its far, far cheaper than the 10$ the hotel charge for this trip! It is clearly evident that the residents love their island of all the places I have visited I have never met so many locals passionate about their homeland. No one could regret a trip to this island or resort.

Had a good holiday here at the St James Morgan Bay. A good size clean room with an enormous bed, air conditioning and a beautiful sea view. We enjoyed all the restaurants they offered a wide variety of food and good quality. We were in room 512 well away from the pool and bar area so very quiet. Snacks available all day at the plumb tree, staff here are particularly helpful. In general all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The weather was mixed with a few days of intermittent torrential rain, this did not spoil our holiday, We used the helicopter transfer from the airport it's a short journey of apron 10 mins, well worth the money after a lengthy flight. Also used joys cruises for a trip around the island. A fun day involving the sulphur springs bathing in warm waterfalls and snorkelling in sugar bay. Staff on the boat were well informed and good fun.

After 3 months of thinking we were going to Ireland this year, we saw a fare on Jetblue to St. Lucia and found the St. James Club at Morgan Bay. It was a great decision! I have travel agent credentials and found the team at the resort caring and committed to service. Everyone asks you about your stay and if you are having a good time.. and you can tell they mean it. The team here is a family. We got to see a bit more than the average guest because I wanted to check it out for my corporate clients too. The food is awesome for an all inclusive. No wrist bands either. I recommend Morgan Pier for dinner and the Le Jardin. Both top notch. I should mention I try to follow a Paleo diet and had no issues here. The pool side snack bar was great. In other resorts in places like the Bahamas you need to order 3 drinks ahead. Not here the service was fantastic. The amount of alcohol wasn't skimped on... although.. the only place that had top shelf was Le Jardin. The beach is clean. I loved that there were trees as well as umbrella's. I am extremely fair skinned. This was the first vacation I didn't come home crispy. I was fine with 55. We had a suite in the 1200 block .. Beautiful. I also had a swedish massage by Eve. It was just what I needed after climbing the Pitons. (see my full review of that) Buyer beware. It was amazing experience.. just not for everyone. The gym is do for an expansion. Honestly, It needs it. I used it a couple of times. It was fine to get a workout. They have beautiful tennis courts and rackets there. I am sure if you are really into tennis bring yours but otherwise.. I would use theirs. Packing: Gents - Bring a couple collared shirts for the restaurants. People tend to dress a bit. You will also need long pants and closed shoes (not sneakers) for Le Jardin. Ladies: Bathing suits with cover ups. Shorts and t-shirts. Stylish flip flops .. I would have packed more dresses. The resort is VERY HILLY and the rooms are not elevator accessible. You will be doing a lot of walking. Think about this with your shoe selection. I also recommend a pair of good sneakers / trainers (for you Brits). Many of the activities off the resort require them... not keds or converse. Sneakers or day hikers. This island is a mountainous rain forest. There is a Colombian Emeralds on property. The team here is fantastic. We went into Rodney Bay to look around. However, after all the other jewelry stores. The one at the resort had the best deals. Although guys, if you are thinking about buying a diamond. The jewelry store in Rodney Bay / Gros Islet across from Subway had beautiful diamonds and settings. Duty free! It is across from Subway. Work a holics ... There is good internet access in the lobby and main pool area. Sadly and strangely not in the new coffee shop. Make sure you tell people that you will have very limited access to email/text/phone. In the suite area, you can get wireless. They are working on expanding this across the resort to the other rooms. It was $50 for the week. I opted not to get it because I wanted to force myself to relax and take a break. There are both US and EURO plugs in the room. (I checked the non suites too... behind the TV) Although, there are not any in the WC except to plug in a euro shaver. The Brits we met (about 1/2 British and 1/2 American) all commented on how terrific the food was here for an all inclusive. Raved about it. If you are used to crappy food in all inclusives in Greece and Spain... you are in for a treat. As a side note, this is where the BA crew overnights. The evening entertainment was great. We typically aren't in for this stuff and enjoyed it. Thank you to the team and staff for making my birthday and annual vacation one to remember fondly. A special thank you to Michaelina... You are a treasure.
"A wonderful stay and highly recommended"

We read a very negative review on here before we left and therefore we arrived with some trepidation, however that trepidation was totally unfounded. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we loved every minute! The staff at this resort make the resort what it is, friendly, relaxing and great fun, everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. On our departure our maid for the week, Ruth came to see us she gave us a beautiful flower and a heartfelt note to wish us a safe journey, she almost brought me to tears. It's these small gestures which really describe the St Lucian people, warm and friendly. The resort is fantastic, great pools to choose from, a beautiful beach and fabulous restaurants. The free water sport activities laid on by the hotel were far too tempting to lure us away from the beach for most of the week. We learnt to sail with Peter, (another tremendous member of staff who deserves a mention), we kayaked and waterskied. There are other options available too so, if you are keen to explore your inner 007 turn up daily at 9am and pop your name on the list!! The hotel has an array of organised tours to choose from, we heard a great review of the dolphin tour although it was too late for us to sign up. We went on a day tour of Soufriere, organised by the hotel. A very enjoyable tour, the guides were friendly and very knowledgable, although we would say that the 'Joy' tour available to book on the beach rather than the hotel sounded like a hoot so perhaps consider its as an alternative. Unfortunately, we did have a poor tour of the Rum distillery and we would strongly suggest that you consider another alternative, such as the sunset cruises. This was the only negative aspect of our entire trip but trust me when I say it was so bad it was hilarious and we walked away laughing!! The restaurants in the resort offer something for everyone, there an option to dine in the Le Jardin for a supplement charge however, the food in the other restaurants was delicious and therefore we didn't see the point. We can highly recommend Morgan's Pier, it was our favourite place to dine over the bay, they also make a scrumptious margarita! This resort does not hold back on the alcohol content of drinks, I'm surprised there's rum left in the Caribbean after a day at the pool side bar here! If we had one negative thing to say about this resort it would be that the room we stayed is in need of a lick of paint, but it is not a five star resort, if you bear in mind that you are in a four star with all the facilities you need for a good holiday then a lick of paint isn't the end of the world. Plus, you will be on the beach or in the bar, not staring at the paint work so don't let this put you off. My boyfriend proposed to me on our first night here in front of the most stunning sunset I have ever seen. Whether you are a couple or a family you will be catered for here and we hope to return for years to come!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED * Footnote: Although this resort runs a very efficient and responsible smogging programme for mosquitos it is worth taking a strong tropical insect repellent and bite cream, it's the Caribbean and mosquitos come hand in hand
"A hotel that cares..."
09/26/14 Kemsley88 Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom
We are a UK family of five, twins of 15 and an older daughter of 21. We are very well travelled and have been lucky enough to stay in some great hotels in faraway places. However this was our first visit to the Caribbean and also our first experience of an all-inclusive holiday. We naturally worried about the standard of food and the quality of drinks. Because of the many positive reviews on Trip advisor we decided to take a chance on the St James club Morgan bay. We arrived by helicopter and were greeted warmly by the reception ladies with a delicious rum punch. We had requested adjacent rooms for the kids on the top floor and they confirmed that we were in these rooms and were efficiently whisked off by a golf buggy to our rooms. The rooms were clean and tidy, with a great view of the ocean and gently swaying palms. We had missed lunch, but we were informed that we could get food at the Plum tree bar and grill. We had a light lunch and sampled our first cocktails. To our relief they tasted great and the bar had not skimped on the alcohol levels! Again our waitress was friendly and made us feel welcome, lots of banter with the kids and good service. I’m not going to bore you with a day-by-day diary of events, but just to say we experienced the same warmth and service at all the restaurants. Although you need to book in advance all the eateries offered a good choice of food and beverages. There are complimentary water sports and my eldest daughter learned how to water-ski with some professional tuition. The nightmare began on the last day of our holiday when my son and I decided to hire two jet skis. This is not something the hotel provides, instead there are guys who visit the beach and rent them out. To cut a very long and painful story short, I suffered a serious accident. I hit some surface coral that was not very visible because of the high tide and a sudden change in weather conditions causing an overcast sky. I was thrown over the handlebars and landed on the coral. I fractured my pelvis in three places, I needed stitches in my head and my elbows and a large hematoma on my back that required an immediate blood transfusion. As I said the jet skis are nothing to do with the hotel, but I cannot thank them enough for the care and support they gave my family throughout this nightmare. The insurance company would not let the kids stay on so the hotel looked after them, taking them to the hospital and then on to the airport, ensuring that Virgin placed them in their club lounge. Although the hotel was fully booked they offered my wife to extend our room at zero cost. Everyday they supplied a large basket of fruit and goodies from the restaurants for her to take to the hospital. Various members of hotel staff, including the hotel manager, concerned about my condition, visited me in hospital. The insurance company agreed to fly me home via a Lear jet and I am now thankfully on the mend, although confined to a wheel chair for the next three months. I hope people read this review and realise from our experience that the St James club, is a very friendly, value for money, beautiful hotel that really cares about its guests welfare.
"Well worth the visit."

Let me start by saying that this is not a five star resort but then in no way does it pretend to be, so I can only assume those that wish to complain have expected to get 5 star treatment without wishing to pay the price, also I will readily concede that in certain areas the resort does need a little TLC and paint but this in no way detracts from what a marvellous resort it is. My wife and I visited here from 11/09/14 - 21/09/14 and could not have been happier or better looked after than we were at St James Bay, we stopped in a one bedroom suite on the hillside with an amazing view over the resort out across the bay and we would advise anybody going that if you can afford the upgrade to this type of room then take. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were amazing and are so helpful and polite as well as friendly and a pleasure to be around and talk to and some of the advice we gained from talking to them as locals helped us enjoy our stay even more. I do not have time to list every member of staff as they all deserve our thanks and appreciation for making our stay a joy. St Lucia is somewhere I had wanted to visit since I was 6 and first started collecting stamps and saw my first St Lucian stamps and I was not dis appointed by my visit to a wonderful Island with lovely people and a stay in a beautiful resort. The on site restaurants are a pleasure to eat in and our favourite was Morgan Pier ( Sharma ), but the food is equally great where ever you eat. The on site chefs are a master at their trade and the spices and flavours of the food dance on your tongue. Their are 4 swimming pools and each has its own unique quality and we found that the top pool by Plum Tree Café ( Katherine, Desma, Jema & Ricardo) was the quietest and most relaxing but no more than 3 foot deep so that the children have somewhere relatively safe to go but please note their are no lifeguards at any pool so parents do have to take responsibility for their own kids. Their is also the small but private bay beach with warm Caribbean waters to swim in and local fish that will swim up and great you, add to this the fact that we never had to search for a sun lounger as there were enough for all and then the Kon Tiki Bar ( Denson & Vito) where they give you a red flag and when you want a drink you just display the flag and someone comes and gets your order and brings you a drink. All of this is inclusive of the holiday price but should you find your way to tipping the staff occasionally ( 10 ECD ) the service is even better. Buffett breakfast is great at the Bambou and if you are there then go up to the egg counter and say hello to Agnes and not only will she cook you the best eggs you have had she will also brighten up your holiday with her warmth and bubbliness ( missing her every morning ). We would also give special thanks and mention to Beverley & Mario who served us in Tree Top, Bambou and Palms for just being themselves. Room service can be a bit slow , but that is just down to the St Lucian way of life, but it is always very good and for that we thank Sharmaine. Finally none of this would be possibly without a management set up that is open and approachable and have employed people that care about the resorts name and approach as well as caring about your holiday so all in all thank you so much St James Bay so go there and we hope you have as great a time as we did and who knows you may bump into us on our return visit. In other comments some people have mentioned the fogging ( mosquito spraying ) that the hotel has to do for your comfort in a negative light - it was always done around 1730 before the restaurants open and there is plenty of advance warning displayed before it is done.

From the moment we arrived (rum punch & chilled towels) we knew we would enjoy our stay . The room was 4mtrs from the sea , the aircom cool and the bed heaven . We ate at all of the restaurants (the french one twice) and can say they all have their points The staff in all departments were fantastic, friendly , helpful and nothing was too much trouble The room was cleaned every day by a lovely lady . beach staff give you a little red flag ,all you do is put it in the air and a staff member comes and take your drinks order and fetch your drinks. food was plentyfull and breakfast eggs (4 ways) were great and fresh. all in all this place is a little bit of heaven which we will return to.
"A hotel that cares."

You’re probably wondering why I gave this review only one star. Well if you’re like me you’ll review hotels on trip advisor, read a few of the five star reviews, but in the interests of gaining a balanced view, check out some of the negative one star reviews. These can often sow seeds of doubt and even sway people into not booking the hotel. I hope people read this review and realise from our experience that the St James club, is a very friendly, value for money, beautiful hotel that really cares about its guests welfare.
