There was confusion about our reservation after a 20 minute wait to check in. The breakfast was awful! There was a lot of congestion as well as construction. Lastly, I got locked in their restroom by the front desk for 20 minutes until maintenance could pry the lock open. No one apologized or offered anything for the inconvenience. It was fortunate I had my cell phone with me as the other pregnant lady that was locked in did not have one with her. Overall..... wouldn't stay there again. I can get this type of hotel at a fraction of the cost.

I thought overall the room was nice, but I was disappointed that the pool area was closed due to construction while I was there, and I did not see that disclosed on the website. Plus I didn't enjoy waking up to the sound of construction below my window. Overall, I thought that the cost should have been a little bit less than it was due to the construction.

Negatives: So noisy from construction had to move rooms. However the walls were not insulated and neighbors kept us awake and woke us up 6:30 am every morning in new room. When I was booking this hotel they did not mention any construction at all. We could not swim, could not eat our cold breakfast in a breakfast room ...no tables or chairs.. Had to carry our cold food to our room or outside, had to wait forever for elevators, had to wait for our car at least 20 minutes and pay $27 a day to park. Mold in bathroom and cracked tile floor. Noisy street...trolleys, buses, trucks all turn on this corner. Had to have sliding door fixed... Also room key changed twice but still didn't work well. Charged us $24 a day for safe (we didn't use) fitness room ...(3 treadmills, weights, pulling machine,) and cold breakfast.

This is clearly a hotel that has seen better days. they nickel & dime you to death. you are forced to use their parking service and they lag far behind when getting your car to you. NOT worth 27 dollars a day extra. They give you 2 pods of coffee for the Kurig in the room and if you ask for more they charge you. they charge for the in room safe to be in use. you have to call for a code. This hotel and the management need a serious update on service. I would have stayed elsewhere had I known all the hidden charges they add on after the fact. Its a 3 star hotel with 2 star service. lots of construction happening onsite. and not a peep about it in their advertising. Expedia should be warned.

Hotel staff very helpful, rooms comfortable however hotel under renovations, which we were not aware of. No pool or an area to eat breakfast. Luckily straight across the road from the beach and they provided souvenir eskies to grab breakfast in to either eat by the beach or wherever you wanted.

The first room we booked had bugs in the bathroom, was right above the parties, and the air conditioning was not working. We couldn't open the windows for fresh air because it was too loud outside. The next day, the air was fixed and they moved us to another room. They said they were going to have someone come spray the bathroom, but when we left that night for another room, there were bugs still everywhere. The staff was very accommodating to move us to another room (with an upgrade to what they call "full ocean view") when they had one available. The next room was clean but it was smaller that the original corner room we had. We finished our stay in this room and had no complaints. The housekeeping was very friendly and willing to work with what ever we had going on. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

One night stay on way home, having stayed here for 4 nights at the start of our vacation. The pool area was being refurbished and there was a temporary reception area and breakfast self service line, but we knew what to expect. We were upgraded to a mini-suite at the beach end of 24th floor - balcony view over Waikiki beach was outstanding. The hotel location is great - we would not hesitate to stay here again if the price was right.

This was a perfect hotel for my stay in Hawaii. It was steps away from the beach, and walking distance from all the shops in Waikiki. They had free breakfast every morning that you could take in a lunch pail down to the beach. It isn't a fancy hotel, but it makes for a very comfortable stay!

The hotel is remodeling the pool and other areas so we couldn't use the pool. The resort fee wasn't worth the money for intermittent internet and minimal breakfast. However, most hotels in the area charge a resort fee so I just included it when price comparing. The parking was also expensive at $27 a night. They could have charged a $35 resort fee which included parking and I would have felt better about what my money was getting me. The hotel was clean and the rooms were nice. When I booked a partial ocean view I was expecting to only see a sliver but we had a beautiful, expansive view. The bedding was average but the bed itself was comfortable. We appreciated the mini fridge for leftovers and beer. The restaurant was also very expensive but they had great food and our waitress was exceptional. The hotel staff was friendly and despite all the additional charges we would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to others looking for a place in Waikiki.

Let me first say that the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly. But, so was the staff at the rental car place, and the stores we visited. 95% of the service people we encountered in a Hawaii were very friendly. Ok.. Their pool was under construction.. Which I did not know at the time of booking, the construction started after I booked it. They still wanted to charge me $23 per day for amenities.. Ok, their pool would be the ONLY amenity worth paying for and it wasn't available. Their breakfast was a total joke. A ton of pastries, loaded with carbs and sugar. Little boxed cereal. Subpar yogurt. Fresh fruit was ok (the papaya was delish) and rice with soy sauce.. I mean come on! No real source of protien, no eggs, meat or even a dang bagel. Sad really. Surely not worth $23 per day. They did have beach towels and 5 beach chairs.. Yes, FIVE beach chairs to share with the entire hotel!! Wow! My room was on the 14th floor and had a half view if the ocean which was beautiful. The room itself smelled old/moldy-ish. There was personal hair in the bathroom on the walls and floor. Left a decent tip each day for the cleaning crew and my bed (at least on one occasion) wasn't even changed.. I'm not sure what's going on with this hotel, but I won't be visiting again. Nor will I ever recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was very pleased with everything except for the surprise I received upon checking out. There was an additional $24.00 per night charge for "extra". This covered the extras like a coffee maker in the room. Any extra fees should be either included in the room rate or clearly stated before check-in.

Stayed at this hotel for the first time 3 years ago. It was great back then. But, fast forward to now, and what a dissapointment. There is no parking garage, so be prepared to pay $27 a day for their valet parking. You are kind of forced to use their valet service because in waikiki, parking is very limited. On busy times of the day, expect to wait 20 mins or longer for them to fetch your car. The hotel's elevators suck. On many occassions there is a line to get into one of their elevators. The hotel also charges an amenity fee of $23 per day. This fee includes breakfast, wifi, use of the pool, fitness center and unlimited DVD movie rentals. First off, the pool is under construction so the amenity fee should be cut in half. And breakfast? Geez, for $23 a day you would think you were getting a hot breakast. Don't be fooled...all you get is cold pastries and fruit. And....make sure you pack your plates...because they ask for your room number and check you off the list so that you cannot return for round two or three. The rooms are also old, but they tried to update it. Had a roach in my room...yuck. Room service isnt the best either. They are tight on handing out toilet paper. The hall ways of the hotel smelled... I had a late flight out, and asked the front desk about late checkout. They kept giving me the run around, telling me to check back later, check back later because they can't tell if they will be over sold till the morning I was scheduled to checkout. awful service

Hotel was under renovation and I was disappointed the pool was closed. Also the room was out dated and the matrass was broken which made a very uncomfortable night of sleep. The staff was overall very polite and friendly but I don't think I would stay at this hotel again.

So when I was checking in to the hotel the wind was so bad that there elevators were down so we had to go up the freight elevator. Also, there was renovations going on at the hotel which I wasn't aware of other wise I would've stayed at another hotel. Was bringing my family over on Sunday and didn't know that the pool was also being renovated so that was horrible. I wish I was told or that there was some kind of notification when booking saying that the hotel was under renovations so I could've booked with another hotel. Other than that everything was good.

Construction, no amenities and expensive. The continental breakfast on the beach made me sick so we never went back. They ran out of towels and beach chairs every day. Parking is 27$ overnight and is not part of the "amenity fee". Not sure which amenities' this meant. The room was decent and the staff was friendly enough.

The hotel is located in a great place at the end of Waikiki and across from the beach. The view from the room was breathtaking, the only drawbacks were the size of the rooms and the pool was not open. All in all nice hotel good value, Greta location.

They are remodeling the pool and pool area and it is all closed off. So there is very limited space for all the guests. Because of the constuction the hotel and rooms nearby were very noisey and smelled of tar, etc.There were too many people being serviced by too few elevators. A long wait for an elevator was not unusual. The breakfast, if you want to call it that, was awful! We tried it twice and were so dissatisfied that we went to Starbucks for breakfast. The pastries were not good (cardboard), yogurt was runnie and the fruit did not look or taste fresh. All served up in a very small room with people waiting in a line out into the main lobby. The coffee and juice were second rate at best. The room and bathroom are tired.

First of all, I cannot give this hotel a 5 star because of the resort fee, I don't mind paying it if I was to use all the privileges, continental breakfast??? (on the beach). I don't know if you can truly call it breakfast, it is filled with sugar and long-long lines of people trying to get their packs filled to go to the beach. There was fruit that was cut up buy no apples to take with you, no bananas. We had this "breakfast" once and that was enough. I would rather stay off of the beach walking distance hotel and pay for my own breakfast that I am able to eat.

Our stay at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel was fantastic. The staff were all super nice and helpful and the room was incredibly comfortable. We had booked a room with a king bed but got an upgrade to a room with two full beds and a partial beach view, which was amazing. We only really used one bed but having the view was worth the lack of sleeping space. The continental breakfast like with every other hotel was too early and crowded with very little space to move, but that's pretty normal. They're also in the middle of remodeling so parts of the hotel were off limits.

OK if you really want a hotel on the beach but $23/day amenity fee is too high. Pool was being resurfaced and the whole lobby was being renovated. Breakfast is just a buffet line where you pick stuff and go elsewhere to eat since you can't eat by the pool. Rooms OK but small. Parking is $27/day. Other places cost much less to park. If you stay here park elsewhere and park.

The Aston is right across the street from Waikiki Beach and close to other attractions. We were able to walk to the zoo and the aquarium both of which were worth the visit. Also within walking distance to dozens of good restaurants.

After extending my stay in Waikiki, I found this hotel through Expedia. It was a nice area and across the street from the beach. You crossed the street and the beach was literally right there. There was a lot of construction going on in the hotel with occasional noise. Staff was nice and housekeeping was good.

This hotel was def not worth the price, I figured by booking online and getting a "Suite" that my wife and I would have a decent sized room and to be honest I've gotten more for my money at dives around the country with better service. When we got there I went to use the bathroom and noticed there was mold on the ceiling, no shower curtain and for towels there were 2 wash towels. Upon calling down to the front desk to try and get switched to a different room they told me they were booked and there was nothing I could do short of finding another hotel and was told they wouldn't be able to offer a refund because I booked online. After about 4 hours someone finally came up to deliver some towels but it did take 2 days into stay to finally get a shower curtain.

Be aware . The breakfast is only a Continental breakfast ! When I booked the hotel it said ocean front ! We got ocean view . Go for the cheaper price . It's the same thing . The hotel was under construction ! Was not made aware of this . Do not I repeat do not leave your luggages in attend . They stole a $130 perfume out of our luggage ! Overall for the price it stunk . Your better of paying a few extra dollars and getting the right accommodations

My wife and I stayed at the Ashton hotel for 5 days and had a bad experience. First off parking is super expensive and when we go to our room it over looked a empty pool that was under construction and had to wake up to construction every morning. The fridge and hair dryer did not work and both had to be replaced. When we went to take a shower the water was black for the first 30 seconds. Room service was only every other day so we had to ask for fresh towels every time. The elevator operations are annoying to figure out and The building had missing tiles Everywhere and did not have a really feel to it at all. Next time I travel to Waikiki I'll pay the extra and stay at the Marriott across the street.

Only one night stay but two great days; check-in was easy by friendly, prompt staff, helpful explanations with good service from the bell staff with no hints of hands out for tips (but deserving) and gracious when given; Tiki's Bar and Grill on premises overlooking the beach is fabulous, fun, great food and drinks and servers with "island" and folk music, sometimes live; super location on the beach, next to the park and zoo, with shops and restaurants nearby; we'll definitely go back; we're experienced travelers - US, Canada, Europe but this is our first trip to Hawaii; be sure to take a tour of Pearl Harbor.

First impressions were great, the location is fantasic if you'll be spending most of your time on the beach. Check-in and Check-out went well. The room was substandard, pillows were terrible, hotel beds and pillow are often the best, not this time. The AC wasn't working but a very helpful staff member fixed it in no time. There was renovations going on around the pool area which we didn't know about, this sort of information would be helpful when making bookings. Breakfast was served around the reception area in a manner I found strange but worked for those wanting to hit the beach as soon as possible, I prefer eating in a restaurant style area not take it away in a doggie bag.

The pool area was being renovated and no one told us this when we booked.The noise was terrible along with the smell of tar and chemicals. Also, no reduction for the hotel fees either.

The hotel was under construction at the time of our visit, so it was a bit chaotic. but all in all, was a very pleasant experience. Disappointed in the breakfast. Kind of mislead - breakfast on the beach...you had to pack your own breakfast and take it outside across the street. Would prefer a warm breakfast, and not just donuts and fresh fruit. And no restaurant in the hotel for breakfast. Personnel very friendly, hotel clean, public restrooms clean. Would definitely return to this hotel.

our experience was ok we were there while construction was being done on the pool deck, and some of the noise was very annoying, but however they are making it very nice though, rates were fair but would have been better if they didn't charge for everyday amenities such as breakfast, room safe and other stuff cause there were a few mornings that we ate breakfast some where else but we was still charged anyway. But for the money you spend in booking it seems that it's just crazy to throw all these amenity fees when you check out. I totally prefer all inclusive resorts, there is nothing complimentary at this hotel..... You will have outstanding balance when you check out
