"Austin sucks!!! Its just a hood now!!"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Dec 26, 2009
I booked this stay partially for the comfort of having secure parking. They charge $15 for parking and yet there is not one security guard guarding the parking garage. The consequence is that several cars were broken into including mine. The parking garage is an embarrassment in construction. It's easier to access as a common thug than a hotel guest. Austin has been over-hyped for the last 2 decades leaving the city more like an overstuffed trash bag then a capitol city. Every scum bucket in existence has moved to Austin. The downtown is full of spoiled homeless, trashy street kids, thugs, and gang members. My once only safe haven in Texas is gone. Texas sucks! The once great Austin is dead. RIP 1980's Austin.

Clean, located just a few blocks south of the Sixth Street entertainment/dining area. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The hotel was very busy with the Texas High School Wrestling Championship taking place near by, but the staff was still very helpful despite the number of guest staying that weekend.

We were very pleased with our hotel room and the staff. Fridays has a beautiful patio overlooking the river for coffee in the morn and they had a great $10.00 buffet breakfast. I suggest trying all the great local places in Austin for other meals. Our only complaint was the mattress. Not real keen on those sleep number beds...Would definitely stay here again and bring walking shoes for the lovely waterfront path along Lake Austin

We stayed at The Radisson for my friends birthday. The room we stayed in did not look like the room they showed on the website, the room on the site was more updated than the room we stayed in. Also, to make matters worse the faucet water smelled like MEAT making difficult to do a simple task like brushing your teeth.

Reviewed by Dinah of V. on Nov 15, 2009
This was our first time staying at Radisson, and I regret the choice. The room is not cheap at all, yet for this price you get a run-down room (cracks in the ceiling, chipping paint) like those at Motel 8. Seriously: with old thin towels washed way too many times, yet washed not well enough because there is somebody's hairs on those towels, with sloppy maid service who doesn't replace your half-empty shampoo bottles and doesn't bother swiping the floors... Very disappointing.

I'm not fond of their sleep number bed. It seems like it's not that much better than just a good quality mattress, and jacks up the price of the room. I do like the suites here, and the fact that on weekends they require a signed "keep it quiet" agreement. All the service was cordial and competent. It's a little pricey, but it's downtown Austin!

I stayed on the 7th floor facing the city rather than the lake and the traffic was incredibly noisy. This is not a cheap hotel and although the location is fine, poor sound insulation and quite small rooms simply aren't good enough for the price. Having Starbucks in the lobby sums it up: faceless, souless, corporate and very brown decor. On the plus side, I breakfasted in the adjoining TGI Fridays and it was pretty good and reasonably priced.

Everyone we met at the Radisson was very nice, but the rooms were tiny and, although clean, not well maintained. The number bed is nothing but an oversized inflatable mattress. The location was convenient, but a little too far from downtown and SoCo to do a lot of walking. Our "city view" consisted of the top of the parking garage and the side of a very tall office building.

My wife and I stayed at this property a few years ago, and were satisfied enough to stay there again this time around. It is a well kept and friendly place and my only gripe was having to pay for internet access. I am writing this in my inexpensive motel room in rural Louisiana- on the free wireless internet included with the room. I think it is time realize that charging for internet is like charging for local calls, a thing of the past.

I absolutely loved the bed and the linen. I felt like I slept on air and was royalty. The suite was beautiful and very comfortable. There was no microwave which would of been handy and surprised me. The staff was respectful and attended to our needs quickly. The in room coffee was very bad and not enough creamer was provided. However, having TGIF's and Starbucks downstairs was awesome. I did not expect all that luxury and was happily surprised. I would definitely stay there again when on business in the Austin area. I definitely recommend the hotel.
