"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

When I come to New York to attend the opera at the Met, I usually stay at the Beacon. I'm always happy with the accommodations and feel very comfortable there. It's so convenient to the subway and restaurants we like. I always feel at home.
Room was clean and comfortable. Free Internet a plus. Bathroom a bit on the small side. Price was right. Would stay there again
"Boutique hotel in Central Park West"
Nice, clean room in a great neighborhood. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, public transportation, and Central Park. Concierge service and doorman. Small but complete kitchen area. Would highly recommend.
"There for the Creed show at the Beacon Theatre"
Everything was great! What else can I say?! A++
"Wow! What a friendly and caring place!"
We decided to stay here because my friend, in her late 70's, had just had hip surgery and needed a room with wheelchair access and a kitchen. The hotel recommended we take a suite on the fourth floor with a walk in shower. I was concerned it would be loud because we were right above the street and there was a concert at the Beacon Theater. The hotel […] assured me the windows were sound proof. They were right on all accounts. Weak from traveling my friend wasn't able to leave the hotel for two days. Instead, all of her friends came to visit her. We were able to cook healthy meals and the room was quiet and restorative. On the third day we wheeled her into beautiful central park. The hotel staff graciously let us extend our stay and found a way to keep us in the same room. Our stay was exceptional because the hotel helped us find the right room for our needs! Read more
"Excellent experience with young kids!"
My husband and I (from Jersey) decided to brave it and take our 3 young kids (all under 6) to the city for the night. The reviews of Hotel Beacon were amazing, so we tried it...and we were so happy we did! Friendly staff, rooms were spotless and perfect size for our family. The small kitchen was a great addition especially for families who have to worry […] about bottles/milk etc. Wonderful location -- the amazing Levain Bakery is a very short walk - it was featured on the FoodNetwork! Very convenient to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History - even our 6 year old managed the walk :) This was an amazing experience1 Read more
"Pleasantly surprised!"

The hotel is within easy walking distance to Central Park, restaurants and taverns, with helpful, friendly staff, and clean accommodations .

"love the hotel beacon!"
we have stayed here a few times, we love the neighborhood and convenience of having kitchenette in every room. The fairway market across the st, wine /spirits 2 doors down. many great restaurants nearby. we dont even bother checking other hotels anymore, we prefer to stay at the Beacon!
"The Beacon - great find, great location"
This is the second time I have stayed at the Beacon and been extremely pleased. On the location: safe, accessible from West Side Hwy, close to Lincoln Center, subway and good food -- with a supermarket across the street. A wonderful walk brings you to Central Park or Broadway district, and taxis are readily available. Rooms (once in a suite and once […] using 2 separate rooms) are more than fine, with the convenience of a kitchenette. All this for a good price. I highly recommend. Read more
"NYE NIGHT"
My boyfriend and I stayed there for new years eve. I was so happy that not like all the other hotels who raised there prices just because of the date this hotel gave a reasonable price for the location and date of the year. The hotel was beautiful and the hotel staff had excellent coustomer service. I requested a floor on a high floor and recieved my […] request. I had an amazing view of the city. The only thing I didn't like was the parking but I'm from out of town and not the city so it is something to get use to but I found a place with a reasonable all day price for parking. I only stayed once but I have to stay I really enjoyed my stay. Read more

"Sweet Suite"
If you're an uptown girl or guy, Hotel Beacon will suit you well. The neighborhood is active but not chaotic. Central Park is close. So is Barney's Coop, the Museum of Natural History, the Met. And the subway. The rooms are quiet, which is huge in Manhattan. We had a queen suite with a kitchenette, which was comfortable and convenient. The bedding was […] lux but the room was a bit frayed at the edges and the bath smelled faintly of insect spray. Do ask for a room on the side street, on the 7th floor or above. Read more
"Great on all accounts"
So glad that we found this hotel... it's perfect in location, in set up with kitchenette. Love that it's close to the metro station and has Fairway across the street. Quiet, though you do hear a bit of the band that's playing at the theater... but not too loud. Accommodations are perfect for when you need more space and the pull out couch bed was very […] comfortable. No complaints. Read more
"Great stay"
Hotel Beacon is certainly not new or modern. But if you need a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable room you will not be disappointed!! We arrived WAY before regular check in, they offered us the option of waiting for our (booked) king bed room, or if we were willing to opt for a queen we could check in immediately. We went with the queen. They put […] us on the 24 th floor facing Central park, view was fabulous!! Staff extrorinarily friendly, which is saying a lot coming from a midwesterner. The bed was so comfy, as good or better than those hotels that advertise them!! Rooms are not oversized but quite adequate. Wifi is not free but starbucks is a few steps outside the front door and theirs is free! The cafe next door has the most amazing food at reasonable prices. Their staff could use some courtesy lessons from the hotel staff. But like i said it is Manhatten! Would absolutely book here again!! Read more
"Hotel Beacon"
A great place to stay within walking distance to Lincoln Center, and to museums on the West Side. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable, and clean.
"Better than it used to be"
We hadn't stayed here since they did considerable renovation. It has been improved quite a lot. Brand new bathrooms, new beds, still with kitchenettes. We like this location very much--close to Central Park, Lincoln Center, museums. Staff very friendly.
"Hotel Beacon in NYC"
We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It's reasonable, clean, and friendly. Although it does not have its own restaurant, there is a very good, convenient restaurant just next door. It's within walking distance of Central Park, Lincoln Center, the Natural History Museum and many other sites. Many small restaurants dot the area, as well as any […] other store you can imagine. We will definitely go back again. Read more

"Hotel Beacon in NYC -- Convenient Location"
This was our 5th trip to NYC in the past 15 years. Have previously stayed at Waldorf-Astoria, Marriott Marquis, Marriott East Side, JW Marriott (near Central Park). While the Beacon is not as upscale as any of these, it also is not as expensive and is fully adequate. We like the location better than any of the above in that you are in less intense tourist […] traffic, shopping is convenient, there are many, many small restaurants within easy walking, The streets seem safe and transportation is very convenient. If going to either the Metropolitan Opera or the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the location is excellent. 20 minute walk to the opera. Easy walk to a cross-town bus on 79th street for the museum. Excellent grocery store just across the street. We will stay there again. Read more

huge two-room suite for the price of an average New York closet sized room.
"Hotel Beacon - perfect resting place in NYC"
Beacon was recommended by a cousin and it proved to be the perfect place for us to end and start our great trip to NYC. The neighborhood is so very nice, clean and has two wonderful grocery stores right across the street. Our room was so comfy, clean and quiet - and the bath shower was a wonder to of power for tired muscles. We also had a great open […] view across the street to see the moon at night and the sunrise on the buildings across the way. The staff was very cordial and happy to help with any ideas or questions. Red line subway station is only 1/2 a block away and the Beacon Theater is right next door. Hotel Beacon made our stay in NYC perfect. Read more
"Good value, comfortable hotel"
Very comfortable hotel with convenient location. Would stay there again.
The most important was that your management stands behind their words, and they do things as they promised. Thank you.
"Great place to stay for a weekend in NYC"
The Beacon Hotel was an excellent place to stay for a weekend getaway in New York. It was well appointed, reasonably priced, clean and very convenient. Located on the Upper West Side at 75th & Bway, it has nearby restaurants, food stores and Broadway ambiance, just a few blocks from the 72nd st. subway stop. The staff were courteous and helpful. This […] is our 4th fall weekend at this hotel, and I fully anticipate returning for many more. -- RLK Read more
"Great Hotel in Lincoln Center Area"
We had a big room (for NYC) with kitchen. There is a gourmet take-out shop across the street. Lincoln Center is a 15 min. walk.

"Good Upper West Side location"
Roomy by NYC standards. Frig and kitchen allowed us to eat breakfast in the room and save some. The room was not luxurious, but nice and clean. There were a few items that needed repair, but they were minor. Towels and amenities were good. Location was good if you want to be close to the park and AMNH. I missed the activity of Midtown, Chelsea, SOHO. […] I probably won't stay here again, but not because of the hotel. Service was very friendly. Read more
"Nothing Memorable"
Checking in was a breeze....Service was pleasent. However, when we reached our room #1711 we walked in to find that we where given a corner room with the air conditioning unit as our view. We called downstairs in a rush to request a more comfortable room. We where told we would be called back and that never happened. IT was a bummer seeing that we are […] from DC, a place where the 17th floor does not exist. Maybe the next time :-/ Read more

"Wonderful hotel in upper west side"
If you're looking for something that’s away from the tourist areas and feels more like living in a true New York neighborhood, this is the hotel. The rooms are big compared to most NY hotels and actually have kitchenette. The hotel is quiet and clean - the staff friendly. There is a big market right across the street. The neighborhood was wonderful […] and central park is just blocks away. The 72nd street subway is just right down the street giving you access to everything. I would recommend this hotel to any who want to visit NY but don’t want to be in the midst of the crowds or tourist areas. Read more
"Hotel Beacon"
had a great experience at the hotel, but I am quite familiar with this hotel, as I always stay there when I go to NY (about once a year)....it's in a great location for me, as I spend most all of my time on the upper west side/central park area. Staff are friendly; have always had a good experience there, except for 1 time when the air conditioning […] was out for the entire week I spent there, and it was in August! Very hot! I realize this was not the hotel's fault; however, I thought they should have given those of us that suffered a voucher for a free stay at another time, or at the least, some kind of rebate/refund, but sadly they did not....thought that was wrong.....other than that, every time I have stayed there has been great! Would recommend highly... Read more
"hotel beacon great upper west side hotel"
very nice hotel, great location, street parking might be found, near subway, safe neighborhood
"perfect location on upper west side"
We have stayed in a variety of NYC venues over the years, including living here some time back, and this is one we would return to. We were on the 25th floor and the views are outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised by the utter soundproofing-- for a city that never sleeps it certainly sounded like it was asleep. The Fairway across the street opens […] at 6 am with greatfresh bakery items and fresh fruit (and everything else you need for groceries from olive oil to cereal to dried fruit and pasta). The subway is a stone's throw from the hotel door complete with a gelato stand by the subway entrance. An excellent healthful restaurant, Josie's, is right around the corner. Central Park is a very short walk as are plenty of other restaurant choices and shops. The room was clean and exceedingly comfortable. The tiny kitchenette was just perfect for storing basic breakfast items without taking up a lot of room and the decor was upscale, clean-- not stark-- a very pleasant place to put our feet after walking and look out on the city. "Great price and location"
For the price - the location, quality of room and overall hotel was perfect.. Close to the Park, across the street from Fairway..
"UWS Gem"
I loved this hotel. It had a very convenient location to the subway, central park, great food and the Natural History Museum. The kitchenette was very helpful, especially with the Fairway Market across the street. Great service. We had a plumbing emergency, which the staff fixed immediately. I can hardly wait to go back.
"Great location embedded in a residential area..."
Close to major subway line (72nd St), many restaurants, shops, etc. A short taxi ride to the CircleLine and other west side activities. Easy to travel down to Little Italy/Chinatown... and a short walk to Strawberry Field and Central Park activities (zoo, museums). Hotel was well-maintained, staff were friendly... and bed was comfortable. Nice views […] from the upper floors. Read more
"What a wonderful home away from home!"
I was in a large corner room with sweeping city views, but it was the full kitchen that really made this place homey. The staff was also very helpful, the place was spotless, the beds were super comfy, and the surrounding neighborhood really lovely. Staying here felt like a real treat!
"Great Location and Decor"
Wonderful Staff, Great Location, Nice Accomodations. Would Recommend
"Nice hotel at a convenient location"
Nice (although a little pricey) hotel convenient to Central Park, Lincoln Center and Museum of Natural History.
"This place was fantastic"
So we spent one night at the Beacon, and thought it was a fantastic hotel. I went there for a girlfriend's night away from the family, with a dear friend, and we could not have been happier with our experience. Because sleep was a priority (we have babies and so sleep is in short supply) I liked it that we could get 2 double beds. The room was large […] (for NYC) beautifully furnished, and very clean. The beds were very comfortable, the shower was great, and it was quiet. Our room had a kitchenette, so I would definitely take my 2 year old there for a visit as well. It is accross the street from Fairway, a famous, great NYC market. We ate dinner at Cesca (Italian) down the street and breakfast at Sarabeth's nearby. The neighborhood is fun and lively and much better than staying in midtown, where so many hotels seem to be located. Really, I highly recommend this hotel and was very pleased. It seems to be quite a bargain. Go. You will not be sorry. Read more

"Hotel Beacon- Nice Hotel"
Clean, comfortable, good size room, very helpful staff, paper at our door in the morning.
"Enjoyed Our Stay"
I highly recommend this hotel. The location is perfect. 2 blocks from a subway line. Good area of town. Easy access to everything you need. Negatives: No gym. No room service. The concierge services were not very good.
