"Good"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Good value for money, good accommodation
"Our Favorite Place to Stay in T.O."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Our room had two minor issues which we reported at checkout. (Refrigerator did not work well due to broken seal on door and toilet needed a little tightening) I will trust the hotel will address these maintenance issues. The suite was clean, comfortable and pleasing for our stay. This is always our first choice of accommodations, so much better than a standard room. The Hotel has simple elegance and a top rate, friendly and efficient staff.
"An excellent hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was bright, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent value. An enjoyable stay all round.

"A Must for convenience!"
perfect for what we needed: little time spent in room, easy walking to shopping, museum, family, subway. only one treadmill no pool but not needed if you use the beautiful city sidewalks! continental breakfast enough to get you started on your day.

"Find someplace else"
This hotel was subpar to say the least. It was practically in downtown Toronto, which made it hard to get to from the highway. In addition, although not noted on the site when I booked, the parking was an additional charge of $15 per day, plus 13% tax. The room was crowded, and right next to the loading dock of a business next door. It appeared to me […] like this was a converted residency type hotel, as there was a storage closet in the lavatory - something I have never seen before in a hotel. The rate was cheap - but that is about all. Read more
"Very convenient location"
Situated in Yorkdale, a few miniutes from the subway, the Royal Ontario Museum, and other attractions. Rent a bike from bici for a few bucks and take a tour of the city.

"Decent, cheap, good location"
Hotel is dated. Rooms are fair. The location 5 minutes from the subway and the low rates are far and away the best thing about this place. Not a hotel you want to spend a lot of time in your room but its TO and you shouldn't be in your room except to sleep anyway. Low water pressure on the 7th floor. Staff is ok.

"It's good as advertised"
Hotel staff friendly, worth the price, free breakfast and free wifi...
"Great place to stay at a great price!"
I wasn't sure what to expect when booking this hotel. But I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very curious and helpful. They just did a remarkable job. Only complaint was lack of counter space in bathroom and could use some updating. Its located on the outskirts of downtown Toronto so it can take you 15 min to get to the heart of Toronto by subway. […] 30-45 min walking. Parking behind the hotel was nice. But I'd advise showing up early enough to get a spot. Overall an excellent stay for an excellent price Read more

"great hotel if you only plan to crash there"
The staff is super friendly and when i told them the room was cold they gave me a portable heater. The room is great if you just plan to sleep and shower. The decor is out dated. The area is awesome...very ritzy and "Beverly Hills". The beds were super hard tho and I woke up with a stiffness. But you get what you paid for!
"A Little Worn, but Priced Right"
Hotel could use some refurbishment, but if you're just looking for a place to sleep for a few hours, it's OK, and priced affordably. Shower curtain leaked water because of improper installation. Continental breakfast was pretty meagre, and room where it was available was sparse, to put it mildly. Would help to have entrance to parking marked visibly […] from the street; hotel shares a common driveway with condo next door. Staff was cordial and helpful. Read more
"I got exactly what I paid for and wanted"
I needed a comfortable bed for the night prior to an event and did not want to spend a fortune. I got exactly that. The continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise and the staff was helpful and courteous. Would stay again.
"HoJo Yorkville"
This hotel was pretty good, and would stay here again. Something that was a bit of a surprise was the front rooms (52's) didn't have internet access because of the layout of the hotel. The walls were to solid to allow the signal to come through. Otherwise, a great hotel for the price.
My personal advice to hotel management to install an exhaust fan in the toilet. I felt miserable after morning ablutions as the toilet had unbearable stink. I was told this hotel does not have toilet ventilation fans et al. It is shocking for a Canadian hotel.

The hotel is very run down and in need of repair. The sheets did not fit the bed properly and there were not enough towels in the room. The "continental breakfast" cosisted of a dozen stale muffins and a basket of croissants. There were no utensils and after seeing a few people pick through the food with their bare hands, we decided to pass on the breakfast. […] The tiles in the shower had mildew between them and could use a good scubbing. Considering the cost of the hotel we would have expected it to be in much better condition. Parking was an aditional 15 dollars per day which we were not told about until we arrived at the hotel. Read more
"Dumpy in the midst of classy"
This hotel is in a very nice neighborhood. But the hotel itself was far from nice. I had two rooms and neither one even had an fan in the bathroom. The beds were not comfortable and the breakfast was horrible. Also the parking was horrible. I have usually bad good luck with hotel.com but this was not their finest offering. They should pull this one […] off the list. Read more

"hj in toronto yorkville"
great location downtown the famous yorkvile in toronto but the hotel isnt the greatest
"Good value for the price."
I have stayed at this Howard Johnson's on 3 occasions now. The hotel has always been clean and the staff has been pleasant. The rooms are spotless and spacious. It is obvious it is an older hotel, but considering it's location in the heart of downtown Toronto, along with it's reasonable price, I think that is a fair trade off. I hope to stay there again […] in the future. Read more
"Worth it for the price"
The location and price were great. The walls are a little thin so I would recommend getting a room on the top floor so you don't hear people above you.
"Howard Johnson Yorkville"
If I could have afforded something else I would never have stayed there. Everything is old. The rooms have raised doorsills making it difficult for anyone with a walking handicap. The shower was weak. The bed was hard. There was no coffee pot in the room. The continental breakfast was pretty good. The lamps were old and did not stay lit unless maneuvered […] in a particular way. there was an area on the window which could not be covered by the curtain. I could go on and on. It was a dump, basically. Read more
"Howard Johnson Downtown Toronto - decent place"
Its not bad for the price that you are paying. The rooms are relatively clean and the location is conveniently close to mass transit. Don't expect to get a decent breakfast though.
"A OK"
We stayed in this hotel just one night as we were going out on the town. The room was much larger than expected. I think were were even allowed a small breakfast? The area is in a great area of town and would be helpful for tourists.
"Howard Johnson downtown Toronto"
good vaule for downtown, free parking, free muffins, coffee for breakfast. Not the most modern hotel, but fine for overnight. Best of all .....no bed bugs!
"Howard Johnson in Toronto - Simple and Comfortable"
I'd sum up this hotel as being nothing flashy but being a very comfortable stay. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Staff were friendly and efficient in our limited required interactions with them. The room isn't huge or anything particularly special, hence the 2-star rating, but it had everything we needed at the best price in the downtown area. […] Only weird thing to me was no fan in the bathroom but that isn't really an issue. Probably my first choice if I need to stay in downtown Toronto again. Read more

"Limited Parking"
They onloy have 13 on-site parking with first-come-first-served basis. If you don't get a spot they give you an option to park off-site (nearby mall parking) for the same price C$15/night. Be careful you can not take your car in/out though. The room is outdated but big. Bathroom is small. Great location though.
"Howard Johnson Downtown Toronto"
good price very well located but so old design
"Great Location, but..."
The location is wonderful. The hotel is a little dingy. Don't get me wrong the room was clean, they just need to do some updating. I got the basic room it was a good size. There is no bar or restaurant in the hotel, but in that part of town you probably don't want to stay in your hotel too much anyway. On a low budget it's a winner.
"Howard Johnson in Toronto, Canada is a Solid Place"
Very Nice Hotel for the money. 3.5 stars out of 5. If parking was FREE= great.

"Great hotel if your NOT planning to stay in the room long"
The customer service is not the greatest and it is not in tip-top shape. Also they only have about 5 parking spots on site so if you do drive there you will have to pay to park elsewhere. You basically paying for a okay hotel with a Gret location. It is a good hotel if you want to be in downtown toronto and not spend a lot of time in the room.
"do not book this hotel"
this hotel is horrible....hotels.com should delist this property
"after 3 rooms i surrendered"
no one can make a decision at this hotel except the manager (who has limited authority and is never thee when needed) or the owner who supposedly is in from 9 to 10am only. this hotel was horrible. i could go on but i will leave it as above.

"Nice!"
Other than the really hard mattress & pillows, our king size bed, room size, hotel location, and everything was better than expected!! I've come to expect "you get what you pay for" and the cheap deal I got, I had low-moderate expectations!! The location's proximity to the ROM was our primary deciding factor. It was really easy to get around the city […] from here too! Will consider staying here again on future trips! Read more
"HoJo T.O."
The Howard Johnson Hotel Toronto Yorkville was very nice! The staff were friendly and helpful and the location can't be beat! We were especially pleased that they let us check in early, since our room was ready. We were also happy with the luggage room, which allowed us to stow our bags for a few hours after checking out. The breakfast was a little […] spartan, but then again it was free so we shan't complain! All in all it was an enjoyable experience & we will be back. Read more
"HoJo Toronto Yorkville - good deal"
Decent place to stay, nice alternative to the places right in the downtown core. Good access to city via transit or by car. Room was enormous, clean, just a few carpet stains and some trimwork needed around the room. A bit dated, but for a place to crash it was priced right. Continental breakfast was okay, nothing special but provides a good start to […] the day. Parking rate can't be beat. Read more
"Great value"
...for a budget hotel. You can't beat the neighbourhood.
"Howard Johnson - Toronto (Yorkville) Downtown"
Only problem was the telephone in the room did not work. (Front desk informed us they were working on it) Also, no fridge in the room which was our fault for assuming there would be. Otherwise, good location to main attractions and the price was good.
hotel is badly in need of reno's but it is clean. TERRIBLE customer service. sarcastic and rude staff. surrounding neighborhood is wonderful.
"March break fun"
Great location to all attractions and food
"good deal"
great service, good bargain, breakfast is bland but overall not bad.
"The Howard Johnson hotel Yorkville Toronto"
I stayed on the 8th floor with a King bed. The room itself is very nice - except for the bathroom. Just to sit on the toilet, I have to squeeze myself in between the sink and the wall. Also, don't expect much of the hotel's "fitness facility"; it's just 2 exercise machines in a windowless room with no fan. One eliptical and one treadmill in a small […] room. What I loved about the hotel was the location. It's right next to a marketplace and a short walk to downtown. Read more
"good value hotel"
For its location and its not the Ritz but clean, c omfortable and affordable in downtown TO. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are basic but clean.
