Hotel was very nice for the rate and the beach is beautiful. The view of construction off to your right over the water took away from the resort feel but in general the place is very nice. Bar staff wanted to open a new charge for every beverage and would not start a tab while sitting on the beach. Other than the fact that towels for the beach and pool area were hard to come by, everything else was great. The rooms are pretty basic rooms. However, after staying at the Atlantis for a business conference, I can say that the rooms at the Sheraton are comparable to the Altantis. The beach area was the best part of the hotel. Incredibly expensive drinks and food. Staff was generally unfriendly. Security took over half an hour to get us in to our room when our keys stopped and couldn't have been more rude during the ordeal. Casino was not a casino... just a few slots, no table games. I don't have many positives to share about this hotel. Close to the airport... okay view […] from room.. that's about it. BEFORE YOU BOOK.... I wish someone would have told me this. We arrived at the Sheraton Cable Beach on a Wednesday afternoon. We checked in at 2pm and were surprised (and delighted) to find out that my wife and I had a complimentary daily breakfast buffet and a $100 food/beverage credit. We asked for a higher level floor and received a room on the 5th floor. We felt we should have gotten a room on a higher floor, […] but this room was above the trees and had a great view of the bay. We spent the rest of the day checking out the hotel grounds. We rented a refrigerator for $10/night and then in the evening we walked down Bay St. to the nearby market. We caught the bus back for $1.25 each. The bus only runs until 7pm. After dropping off the groceries, we walked across the street to the "Daquiri Shack" and had drinks and chicken wings. The next day we started off with a great breakfast and then decided to take a "city tour". We went with Majestic Tours. It was a dissapointment. The bus was run down and the windows didn't open. The A/C stopped working half way thru. We saw two forts in basically 2.5 hours. I would skip it. The next day we went to "Sandy Toes" at Rose Island. We took a 40 minute ferry ride to get there and back. Great place! Pristine beaches and amazing snorkling! This was the highlight of our vacation. On Saturday we caught a bus to downtown Nassau. We went to the Straw Market and caught a water taxi to Paradise Island. On the way back we stopped at the "Fish Fry" which is a bunch of restaurants near downtown. My wife loved it! Read more

No towels in room we we arrived. Took 2 hours for them to show up. Called 3 times about it. The hot water tap on the sink was broken so had no hot water in sink. Took 2 days to fix that. In middle of week our room keys stopped working. That was fun when we went to fromt desk with keys at 9 am after gym. So the desk asks do you have your id. I'd was […] in room of courses so they had to call security. That took 40 min for them to show so that in turn lead to us missing breakfast. The buffet was way over priced for what you got. We had a great holiday here. The hotel has great public areas and our room was comfortable and had updated decor. That said you are aware that this is an older hotel that has been updated but still needing a major overall of the pool area in particular. There are 3 pools all of which are great but the pool deck is crumbling and has been patched up - […] but I'm being picky. Some of the reviews I read before booking mention the big Baha development that will not finish until late 2014. We did not notice this at all - i think anyone staying at the Wyndham next door would have really issues though as the development towers over the pool area for that hotel. It isn't something that is widely publicized but guests at the Sheraton can use the facilities at the Wyndham - there is a nice pool and Tiki Hut there. Also not publicized is the $40 per night per room resort charge. You have to pay it so really should be added into the price quoted. However this seems to be standard practice at these type of hotels. That said the $40 covers all tips, use of non motorized watersports, deck chairs on beach, pool towels etc. The watersports are great and we made full use of them. The restaurants are expensive by US standards but on a par with local island restaurants. Would not recommend the Italian as it is very expensive and the food isn't that great. The bar food is better quality. It is worth taking a trip down to Arawak Cay as there are some great restaurants there. Read more

As for our room, it seemed that the a/c only ran in the high position, no med nor low and the pillows were, for me, uncomfortable. The bed was great. The hotel is halfway between downtown Nassau and the airport that probably makes it a good hotel for business. Otherwise the location is not ideal with no retail/restaurant development nearby. Much has been made of the construction going on in the area, which is very extensive.However, all the rooms face the sea, so the construction on the other side […] of the hotel is not visible. We did not notice any signicant noise from the construction either. The view is very pretty, with a very nice pool area and beach area. The bedroom was comfortable and clean but there was no hanging closet and no minibar or bottled water available. There are many places in Nassau where you cannot drink the tap water so we were a little concerned. The bathroom was spartan - a blast from the 1970's and has not been upgraded to match the rest of the room. Restaurant prices were no different from similar hotel restaurants in the Bahamas and probably lower than some, but there is really only one choice on the premises. There is an alternative restaurant a short walk away and numerous places a short cab ride away. If you have a car, the valet parking is $10/night. Overall, as long as the prices stay competitive, there is no reason to not stay here, but you will give up some of the convenience of staying on Paradise Island. In general recommended for couples and business travellers rather than families. Read more

It's a tad shabby in some spots of the hotel property. However, we found our room to be very nice. Overall, it could use an update in the pool and beach area, the fitness room (lots of broken machines), the restaurants. The bar off the main lobby we enjoyed. Hotel staff could have told us more about the area, made recommendations. This hotel is 5-6 […] miles from downtown Nassau and costs $1.25 to get to by bus or $20 by taxi. I've stayed at many Sheratons over the last few years, worldwide. Most of them are business hotels in Frankfurt, hotels in Europe, and a few in South America. We were initially a little disappointed with the condition of the hotel. Particularly in the beach and pool area the chairs are quite old, concrete is cracking, the wood is very old and rotting […] in some areas. The pools were actually nice, they feature beautiful waterfalls and a couple little grottoes which we enjoyed. The rooms are nice enough. Beds are comfortable. Many of the balconys are wedges, quite small with little or no room for two people comfortably and we had to be upgraded to a full balcony room after some complaint downstairs... I'm not much of a complainer but unfortunately that's the only way you can generally get something nice. Bathrooms are tub style, a little dated, but in good condition. Upgrading to a suite is a massive cost and you may as well spend the same money at the Atlantis for a much nicer experience. All said this is not a 4 star... it is at best a 3.5 star, and they've definitely stopped some of the upkeep in preparation for the Baha Mar hotel complex coming in, in late 2014. Not super impressed, but I'm generally a little harder to please than your average customer. Read more

We like fine dining. This hotel has only one, it was closed two of our nights. The hotel next door has the casino and very nice resturants but we were not told it would be closed during our stay. We spent our nights traveling the island in cabs trying to find a quality meal. During one of our travels in a cab we happened upon a head on collision between […] a car and motorcycle, bodies in the road really put a damper on the rest of the vacation since we would not go back in a cab because they drive like maniacs and it does not seem they have any driving rules. The breakfast buffet is now 50.00 per couple, thats a lot of eggs. There is and will be heavy construction next to this hotel for the next three years, they are building a new resort next door. It looks as though it will be massive and a welcome change to the area. This was our 8th stay at this hotel and I am sad too say we will not be returning.
