It was nice that the hotel was 1 block from the convention center and the bed was nice but that really is the only praise I can give it. Upon entering the room we found a used towel on the kitchenette sink. Some updates have been made to the hotel but a lot of the details are outdated. "Hotel was disappointing"
I checked in and went to my room which was very small Room 1212 , I was expecting something like they show in the pictures on the website.the bathroom was not clean, shower head broken. The location of the hotel's right next to the park so accessibility there is convenient. What's not so convenient is the sprawl that makes up the hotel itself. There are three "wings" that are on different sides and seem to transition mid-floor. To some this wouldn't matter, but since I was there along with family and friends, it made finding each other […] rather difficult. Something else worth mentioning...breakfast isn't free and morning coffee will run you Starbucks prices. The pools are nice, but the outside one gets crowded and is often surrounded by sunbathers. First, the hotel is expensive. As old and run-down (outdated, too) as it's getting, it's a little pricey for what you get. Second, when we checked in we were told that we had to pay an additional $9 for parking. (Really? It's their lot - and we never had to pay before.) Also, they neglect to tell you to KEEP your room key with you in order to leave […] the parking lot the next day. I can't imagine how many travelers did what we did, which was leave the keys in the room and try to exit the parking lot. If you aren't familiar with Red Lion, this compares to a Hilton or Hyatt. It is a great location. The walk across the bridge & through Riverside Park is beautiful, and you are within a mile of several good downtown restaurants. The hotel also has an airport shuttle. A taxi to downtown from the airport is about $25, so it was worth the extra $15 we paid […] for this hotel. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but the breakfast buffet was $12.95 - and it wasn't great. Next time we will forgo the buffet & walk downtown for breakfast. There is a nice pool, geared toward families. Get there early, as people were draping towels over chairs to claim them by 8 a.m. Only negative was the position of the a/c unit. "Poor Experience at Red Lion at the Park"
Parking was impossible, our room was not made up after leaving at 830am and returning 6pm. Service items stacked on a tray were left in the room. Absolutely poor experience for being charged $159 per night and the room was located on the main floor in a high traffic area used by both guests and employees. When I asked why our room was in such poor […] condition, the desk attendant suggested perhaps the do no disturb sign was on the door. I did not place the sign on the door and was the last person out. The room was partially made - in my opinion the housekeeping staff was lacking in effort. We did not move furniture around but with four kids, yes, sheets and pillows were all over the beds. Housekeeping was offered so my children and I were to what? Wait in the lobby?
