The continental breakfasts could have been better!
"I love Holiday Inn"Reviewed by Tania O of "San Antonio, TX" on Jan 5, 2012
I can always count on quality at the Holiday Inn - the only disappointment was that the pool water was cold, out right cold and not enjoyable to be in. Yummy breakfast buffet.

"grat location and hotel"
great location and hotel good price
"Downtown Days Inn Ottawa"
We had to wait 20 minutes in the lobby to check in. When the receptionist finally appeared - no apology followed for making us wait so long. When handing us the keys, she announced the room number out loud, despite the fact that there were other people waiting in the lobby. She obviously had no idea that it is not acceptable. Another problem was the […] wake up call - for some reason the phone rang a hour too early... Read more

Love the location . Decent service.

It was close to everything I needed to close to.
"Downtown inn"
check in one of the best, took me only 1minute. Hallway carpet on top floor old and smell. Room ok. Location walking distance to important location. Neighbourhood terrible, especially around LCBO.
"The room smelled"

"Days Inn, Ottawa, ON"
The room smelled of smoke, was dirty and old. The bathroom sink had cigarette burns in it and the bathroom door wouldn't shut. We left and stayed in a much better, much cleaner hotel. The neighbourhood was very run down and seedy. Definitely note a place to stay if you want a clean, nice stay.
"You get what you pay for..."
Went for the Ottawa Winterlude festival. The location is extremely convenient. It is within walking distance to just about everything downtown. Finding the location was simple. The rooms are pretty standard and clean. You can expect the usual hotel amenities (TV, bed, clock, fridge, ironing board); nothing more, nothing less. Staff was pretty grumpy, […] but otherwise helpful. If you're looking for a no frills hotel, this is it. Read more
"Very comfortable room and pleasant staff"
This hotel is in a great location. The staff are very efficient and pleasant. The building is older, but cleanliness trumps age of building for me and my room was spotless as well as huge (Kingsize bed room). Wish I had more time to stay there, as my layover was for about 16 hours.
"Central & convenient"
We needed a place to stay in Ottawa that was not expensive and reasonably close to the downtown core... this hotel met both criteria. We spent our days walking around town, so really the only thing we needed from the hotel was a place to sleep and store our stuff during the day. The staff was friendly and helpful. The exterior/interior of the hotel […] seems a bit dated and dark, but the rooms were comfortable - decent space, comfy bed. Our only complaints were that the tub/sink don't drain properly, and that the pillows were a little too firm. Not necessarily deal breakers. Interesting note, the sink in our room was located outside of the rest of the bathroom (toilet/shower), kind of European style. The parking lot is spacious, and you are literally minutes from the Rideau centre/ByWard market. We parked our car on the Friday and didn't have to worry about it until we left Sunday. We'd definitely recommend this place and stay there again in the future. Read more
"Great Location"
The main drawcard for this hotel is its location. 10mins walk to Byward Market & about 20mins to Parliament Hill. The room was a little on the shabby side and needed a bit of work. The power socket in the bathroom wasn't working, and some wallpaper was peeling. However, you do get what you pay for, and at the time of booking this hotel was considerably […] cheaper than any others this central. The staff were friendly and professional. I would stay here again if I happen to be in Ottawa. Read more
"Amazing staff, perfect location, needs renovation"
Very nice people work here, hotel is situated perfectly well, just few steps from downtown and nice restaurants. Hotel requires renovation, rooms and equipment are clean but a bit old. Great hotel for decent money. I highly recommend it to everybody!!!

"Great location"
We paid a bit much for this night but the location was very convenient.
"Ottawa trip"
The hotel was clean and the staff were courteous. The area the hotel is in is rather sketchy. A lot of homeless people in the area. The restaurant in the lobby was sushi so if that's what you like to eat for breakfast your in luck. On the up side it's not far from the main tourist area filled with lots of restaurants.
"Days Inn Downtown Ottawa"
Nice hotel, if a little less pricey - would be more bang for the buck, walkable distance to a lot of downtown attractions, free internet.
"Stay in Ottawa"
Restroom was not very clean. When notified, they put me in a new room without billing me extra. Internet connection went down but they followed up with Rogers Wireless and immediately fixed the issue. Friendly service.
"Internet Information"
Internet included in hotel rate was an ethernet connection, so make sure you have a port and not just wireless.
"close to museum & other interest."
Excellent, the clerks were very helpful in giving directions & info .

"Days Inn Downtown Ottawa - worth the price"
The hotel itself may seem minuscule but the room size definitely made up for it. We asked for a non-smoking King bed room and that's exactly what we got. It's a 7 minute walk to the Rideau Mall and if you walk for another 5 minutes, the parliament is there. The Byward Market is also nearby so location wise, it was great. The bathroom was clean and there […] was a sofa-bed in the room as well. We had no hassles and for the cheap price, this was a great find. Read more
"Great location, hotel needs some love."
The overall hotel experience was ok. We have a pet so were limited to our choices. Hotel was old, to be expected in downtown location, but was in need of some updates (fire alarms, ventilation). Had requested a non-smoking room, yet the vents were shared with smoking rooms. Our bathroom was the worst for smoke smell. The entire hotel had a strong smell, […] to help cover up smoke? The tub also needed some maintenance, clog caused slow drain, even while showering. The cleanliness was otherwise good, service was prompt, and the bed was comfortable. Decent price, but would not choose to stay again. Read more
"Ghetto Hotel"
I am shocked this hotel remains part of the Days Inn chain of hotels. While the location is moderately convenient (though not as close to downtown as advertised), the 'free' parking is not free at all - the nominal 6$ fee made parking beside a homeless man that much more special. I felt I would be robbed. The hotel itself is clean enough - though the […] extensive overly processed linens gave me an instant headache. The hotel smells like toxic cleansers, everywhere, and it was difficult to sleep as a result of the overwhelmingly toxic scents. The bathroom fan did not work, the tub was rusty, and the spots on the towels looked alarmingly like dried blood. The neighbourhood of this hotel is scary at night - and still alarming during the day. Too many drunken homeless people, too many violent and shouting people on the street. For the price difference, I wish I'd stayed closer to the Parliament buildings. Read more

"Dowtown Ottawa Days -Inn"
I would recommend it due to his downtwn location and reasonnable price. - I did not like the 10$/ day for parking even though we had a room - Toilet seat was missing a screw and was wobbly *****Otherwise this is a good hotel******
"Very convenient location"
Great location, room was spacious, clean and everything provided. Hotel has a coin laundry which was useful. Supermarket and heaps of restaurants are close by. We could walk to all the sights we wanted to see.
"Days Inn Downtown Ottawa"
Standard hotel. Rooms were decent, clean enough. Reasonably priced place to sleep and use as 'home-base'.

"needs a facelift"
the hotel is in need of reno's the halls have old carpet on them and the elavator is old also which has a foul odor, they try to mask it with a room spray. the lobby is inviting though and the staff were friendly. we had arrived with a small dog, staying with pets your suppose to be on the ground floor but they allowed to stay in the room we allready […] had, which was a very large spacious room. Overall if they could keep with the upgrades the hotel is convient to sites and the mall and price iss of a good rate. Read more
"reservation not confirmed"
I was amazed to find out that what I've booked as a room is not guaranteed! I've spend 10 min at the reception to give me a room I will Never come back to this hotel!
"good stay once we got into the right room . . ."
Even though I had specifically requested a non-smoking room we were booked into a stinky smoking room. We could not be moved for the first night because the hotel was full. The second night in a non-smoking room was just fine. My rating is lukewarm because of that - our second room was just fine, no problems.
"Now worth the money you pay"
The hotel staff was rude and the hotel is full of cigarette smell. Bed was the worst i have ever seen. The mattress was almost half broken from the center. Gave me a back ache for days.
"Great Location"
Hotel is is a prime location downtown. Room and washroom was a little small but comfortable. Very strong smell throughout the hotel (like a very strong perfume). Had to pay extra for parking.
"Days Inn Downtown Ottawa"
I was booked for a non-smoking room. The room was a smoking room with very strong cigarette odors. A big ash-tray was in the middle of the table. The receptionist could not offer another room. The chairs were stained and VERY dirty. In short I have NEVER stayed in my life at a place like this....

"Good hotel, sketchy neighbourhood"
Days Inn Downtown in Ottawa -- A good, comfortable hotel, not fancy but close to city centre attractions and Byward Market. Grocery stores and drug store nearby. Neighbourhood is rather questionable, though, and you might not want to walk through it at night.
Generally, overall you get what you pay for. Great downtown location. The fabric on the two chairs in my room, and I suspect all the others were the same, was absolutely disgusting. The whole thing very heavily stained and ground in from time gone by. I wouldn't sit or put anything on the chairs, and wouldn't expect anyone else to either. Please don't […] take my word for it, ask around room # 118. Read more

"For some reason, I always stay here"
It's not one of the best hotels in Ottawa, but I keep coming back. I've stayed at many Ottawa hotels, and this one just offers really good value for the money. The beds are comfy, there is a large grocery store nearby, one of the front desk staff never showers, but I still keep coming back!
