The inconvenience I had to bear with during my stay: When booking a room at Hotel Istana KLCC , the ad. on Hotels.com can be very misleading and deceptive. Thus, it needs your immediate attention and revision. As you can double-check, hotels.com site says "Free High Speed Internet" at Hotel Istana. However, it didn't mean that guests could get free […] wifi ONLY at the lobby. Please note that in this cutting edge tech. era, most people including myself carry not computers that require LAN connection but smart phones to get internet access using your booking App. "Deluxe Rm w/ Free High Speed Internet"?? I didn't get the service that I paid for and the Istana hotel managers advised me to speak with Expedia/ hotels.com about this internet issue. For clarity, please revise the ad about hotel Istana so potential guests and your website members won't get a wrong idea about their Free Internet deal. Even though their concierge service is 5 stars, other things like stained carpets, no wifi in the guest rooms, and super slow check in process(I got to the hotel at 4pm but they aked me to wait at the lobby cafe until my room got ready which took them over 1.5hrs to give me the car key. I was too tired to go anywhere when I was expecting a good rest in the room and by 4pm rooms at any hotels should be ready, Correct?? Read more

I took my 1st trip to Malaysia in December of 2012 and decided to stay at the Hotel Istana. I was there for 1 week, and the service was top notch! I stayed on the Club Level and the rooms are HUGE. During my 4th day there, I decided to finally visit the Club Lounge on the 20th floor. I wish I decided to check it out sooner! The food was yummy with a […] vast array of choices throughout the day. But most of all, the service was amazing. BIPLOB is the head waiter and I can't give him more praise. He was attentive, informative, hospitable and overall just a great host. His work ethic is awesome and all the guests seem to gravitate towards his positive energy and friendly service. He is the reason that I decided to stay there again during my 2nd trip just last month. I can't thank BIPLOB enough for being so kind to my friends and myself. The biggest complaint I have is that the property itself needs to be remodeled. Although the rooms are huge, the bathroom felt old and dull. Nonetheless, the service makes up for this and it's still a good value. I plan on staying here again! Read more

This hotel is regularly described as a five-star accomodation, and upon arrival in the truly spectacular high-ceilinged marble lobby (which befits the name "Istana," or "palace") you would be forgiven for assuming it would be. However, the rooms are simply not up to the same standard as the common areas. My room was large, strangely laid-out, and very […] sparsely furnished, with noticeable wear on the carpets, upholstery, and bathroom fixtures. It wasn't bad, but it was clearly showing its age, and it was nothing like as luxurious as I expect from a five-star hotel. Carpets in the halls, as well, were worn and dated. Finally, the cleaning service, while certainly daily, didn't pay the same kind of attention to detail that I expect in a high-end hotel. Of couse, the room rates were also much more affordable than a five-star hotel's would be, so this may explain some of the shortcomings. The staff were extremely gracious, the breakfast buffet was palatable although not all that fancy, and the common areas, once again, were beautiful. But until the rooms get a full remodel this will be nothing more than a 3.5 star hotel with a better-than-average-looking lobby. Read more

Walking distance from the Petronas / KL Tower / shopping areas of Bukit Bintang. The room had a wonderful view of the Petronas Tower. Ours was a King Size bed. The staff's attitude was very impressive - cordial / friendly, be it at the reception / restaurant / or any department. We had a buffet breakfast as a part of our package. The buffet breakfast is one of the best i've come across so far. The spread was very good. My wife's a vegetarian and she there were enough options for her unlike other places that we visited in Malaysia. Hotel is located within walking distance to the twin towers and KL tower, close to a huge shopping mall with excellent food court, and is around the corner of a local shopping area. Location is excellent. However, everything was broken when we got into the room - AC, refrigerator, and the closet lights won't turn off. We loved KL & will go there again. The location of the hotel was very convenient for walks to the Towers & also the free city shuttle bus services. The hotel was lovely but the amount of smokers within the main bar area was disappointing as we are non smokers. Hotel Istana is a great hotel -stayed before - location is excellent for restaurants, bars and shopping. great pool and fab club lounge facilities. unfortunately on this occasion we had very poor service on check-in as a room was not available - we were asked to wait 30-45 mins for the room to be cleaned. then 45 mins later we were informed it would […] be another 45 mins !!!! had we have been told this originally we would have sat around the pool or done something rather than sit at reception waiting - we were only there for 2 days so didnt want to waste time. i expresseds my anger at this and was then told a room wasavailable on a lower floor which we looked at but was much smaller than the one we were waiting for so we refused. after much debate with staff we eventually got our suitcases delivered to the room to change so we could sit around the pool and was finally told the room was ready approx 3.15pm (check-in states 2pm - but we have never waited after that time for a room in any hotel 3 star included). all very well opffering a late check out of 1pm (which we never needed)- but we didnt get a full days accommodation for a full days rate which considering we paid extra for club room i think is disgusting. We booked two rooms in this hotel for three nights and the payment was made in advance. But on arrival we were asked for security deposits of 300 MYR per room which was not mentioned anywhere in the booking or confirmation details. Secondly, drinking water was supplied only two 500 ml bottles per day for a double room. Extra orders were unduly delayed […] to reach. I stayed at this hotel on my past two visits to KL because of it's convenient location. On both occasions I've had difficulties. For starters, they keep this hotel much too cold inside. The rooms have AC only, no heat so even if you turn off the AC in your room, you are chilled by the AC in the hallways which somehow is still able to enter the rooms […] thru the ventilation. I also had difficulties with the plumbing - the water pressure to the toilets is VERY weak, and the shower temperature control knob did not work very well. Wireless Internet access was not available in the room, only in the hotel lobby. The rooms did have Ethernet cables to enable connection. On both occasions, the cables were worn and the locking clips were broken off, The cable only reached to the work desk in the corner of the room, so you were limited to that space while using the internet. All in all, while it is certainly survivable, but I simply feel there are better options for your money. Read more

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to monorail and within walking distance to the key main attractions like Petronas Twin Towers, Pavilion and Berjaya Time Squares shopping malls.
