Our family from Wales, UK, spent two nights at The Orleans in August 2008. We went for this hotel as it was far enough from The Strip to get away from the crowds and noise, but close enough to get there. The free shuttle bus to and from the strip was very useful and ran frequently. The buffet restaurants were great value for money and the food was both varied and enjoyable - something for everyone. The pool was great for cooling off in the 40C heat after a long day walking The Strip and sightseeing. There is a HUGE ballroom. There was a balloon fest going on in there while we were visiting, but it might have been nice to stay when dancing was available. We would definitely stay there should we decide to visit Las Vagas again.

Just returned from Las Vegas. Stayed at the Orleans - 3rd time stayed there. Excellent value for money. First class restaurants - 7 to choose from, full size bowling alley, cinemas, etc, etc. Courtesy bus to the Strip (every 15 mins) takes you to Bill's Gambling saloon next to Flamingo and opposite Caesar's Palace.Only disadvantage is that it hasn't got a very large swimming pool but it was plenty big enough for us. We're going to return there again and recommend the hotel wholeheartedly.

Hotel seems a bit tired - good choice of food outlets at reasonable prices - lots of gambling opportunities, but that's not us. The Orleans is not one of the super glitzy Las Vegas hotels but it is a great value for the money. The rooms were large and well appointed with comfortable beds. Carpets needed cleaning but not bad and the bathroom was good size. We did not eat there so I can't comment on the food. You need a car to get to the strip but they do have a shuttle service as well. We were working a show so the value was good, internet access was good and the staff were very nice.

For an unexplained reason, the maid did not clean our room on Saturday one day before checkout but hung a Do Not Disturb Sign on our door late Sat afternoon. Housekeeping did bring up towels and we made our bed and all was well with us. I was impressed by the pics on the internet and our room looked exactly as it was shown online. The regular room was VERY VERY Large and the bathroom was large and laid off quite well. The hotel is not within walking distance of the strip but that was as the strip was not my destination. I would indeed stay in this hotel again because it had everything that I needed onsite. Movie theater, several familiar resturants like TGIFriday's, Don Miguel and a food court. For families with little ones, they also had a Kids Center for playing and an arcade for teens/families. I am very picky about my hotel accomodations and would rate this site equivalent to or even higher than a Marriott.

Realize the casinos are set up so that you have to pass through them to get to anything but more direction and listing of what was available would have been appreciated.

Knowing that The Orleans is offset from the strip should be your first point of concern. If you want to walk from casino to casino, you'd be better off staying on The Strip or in town. Secondly, the hotel is a self contained property complete with a Bowling Alley, Movie Theaters, and a Sports Arena. If you don't plan on going anywhere in a rush then the Orleans is one of the few hotels where you could stay for the entire duration of your stay in LAS. The nearby neighborhood isn't the greatest to walk around. The next nearest hotel is across the street and slightly east of The Orleans. The 24 hr restaurant, Carson Street Cafe really isn't that bad. Reasonable prices and lots of choices. The Buffet area isn't that bad either. The "Stir Fry" section was different and was quite good imho.

It is common on weekend to have crowded valet parking especially so called locals casino like this and it is more time saving to park and walk to the registration and rooms, but self parking at surface and garage parking is some like 1/4 miles a part. It is best to have some kind of segregation. Also, the air conditioning and heating have very touchy control and once kicks in rather loud and take humidty away for non desert resident to cause throat dryness.

Stayed at the Orleans b/c friends were staying there as part of a bowling tournament. The hotel itself is fine, if a bit old school. Was struck that their were no automatic main doors (struggle to open w/ bags). Waited 15-20 minutes for a cab (it is off the main strip). The casino was tight as a drum - we saw no one winning, more akin to a bloodbath all around. Otherwise, buffet was fine, room was good and big (suite size). Long hallway walk to rooms, but no big deal. Not exactly a place where you'll meet the hippest, cutting edge people, but fine for a short stay w/ no huge expectations.

My fiance and I stayed there for my birthday and was highly impressed with the hotel and staff. We were upgraded to the high rollers suite on the 21st floor at no additional charge! This was not something we requested either. The room was huge, king sized bed, huge flat screen tv and had a great view of the strip. After unpacking, we realized that we forgot toothpaste. The housekeeping staff brought us 2 tubes of toothpaste,2 toothbrushes and extra blankets at no additional charge. The soaps and other toiletries were phenomenal and was a wonderful added touch. Everything was cleaned daily and I did not have to worry about my stuff being tampered with, while we were out. The room come with a complimentary safe. Even though the casino is quite a bit away from the strip, they have a shuttle that runs (all day and past midnight)from the hotel to a sister property of theirs located on the strip everyday (that's why I gave that rating a 4 instead of 5). They have ample parking and a parking garage, so we parked the car on most days (parking is free). The workout room, pool, spa, movie theater, bowling alley and arcade are also nice touches to the property. Overall, I was highly impressed with The Orleans for my 1st stay in Las Vegas. I would love to stay at The Orleans again for my next stay in Vegas. Stay there and you won't regret it!
