The staff was fantastic in their service, respect, and assistance. The area is not very nice, so I was very thankful for the free valet parking. The condition of the outside of the hotel was terrible...looks really rundown and dirty. But the inside of my room (when we finally were able to get one that a key would open) was very clean although very dated. […] Overall, I would give this a 3 out of 5 stars...mainly for the service. The building is dilapidated. Lots of cosmetic cover ups. Carpets need to be shampooed. It felt sticky. The walls are ultra thin. When people pass your room you can hear them. The service at the front desk was sub par at best.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for the money."
Ok. Very close to Capitol. Walking distance to 6th street night life.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This La Quinta is an older hotel but the customer service was outstanding, the valet team hospitable, and the location was excellent, just two blocks south of the Capital, with restaurants either to the east or on Congress. Complimentary breakfast was good enough to get you to the lunch hour. The room was clean and quiet. The pool was perfect after […] our excursions in this great town of Austin! "I'd Stay Here Again"
Had business at State Capitol. Valet staff AWESOME! Room was no frills, comfortable and close to my destination. I had everthing I needed. A little noisy, but it IS a motel v a hotel. I'd stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Given room on ground floor next to parking lot and neighbor Yahoos made noise thru out the night. Toilets in my,and other attached, rooms whined loudly with every flush. In addition, light fixture near bed was not operable. Location was alright, but this is a motel and should only be charging motel type rates.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was reasonably clean and felt safe, although there was a sketchier neighborhood a bit east. Short walk to 6th street. Staff was welcoming and replaced a light bulb quickly. Overall a satisfactory place to stay for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, nothing special"
This hotel has seen better days but the room was clean. Good location relative to the capitol and 6th street bars/shops. It's at a busy intersection so traffic noise can be an issue.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had issues with internet connectivity. Not near any restaurants and no room service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Your paying for location."
Great location. Friendly staff. Old rooms w little ammentities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Per friendly hotel but not much grass. Close to everything!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It hardly seemed worth the price of $242 after taxes. It's essentially a motel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice staff but over priced hotel"
I would say the hotel is overpriced. The condition of the hotel is not that good. It should be priced lower than 100/night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was incredibly loud on Saturday night. I don't consider myself a light sleeper, and we went to bed fairly late ourselves (around 2 am). However, there were people up and down the hallway all night and lots of shouting. Then, in the morning, it sounded like someone was hanging pictures on the wall adjacent to ours, just really loud hammering. Sunday […] night was not nearly as bad, and I slept well. The other issue was that I did tell the hotel that three people were staying in the room, yet there were still only two wash clothes and hand towels. I felt like they should have put one for each guest at least. But the beds and pillows were comfy and the room was clean. Also, if the continental breakfast ends at 9:00, don't walk in at 9:05 because you will get told it is closed and scowled at. The location was excellent. And the valet guys were super kind, friendly, and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing Staff-Cheap-Close to Everything"
Staff was great. Specifically the Valet- we didn't have a car but they gave us a ton of insight into where to go for food, directions, hot spots, etc. Room was clean. Pool was nice- not a 5 star by any means but well kept. Hotel a little out dated, but can't beat it for the price. Great location, but on top of a massive hill, so be careful if you decide […] to rent bikes or anything! We walked everywhere- almost everything within 1/2 mile from the hotel and about a 2 minute walk to the Capitol. I would definitely stay here again, it was $150-$200 cheaper per night than other hotels closer to downtown/6th street, but for the money it's worth the nice walk. Overall very satisfied and would definitely recommend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location...average property"
Good value for center city location. Did not like having to Valet the car...don't understand why...hotel has been there forever and parking was fine before. Adds $13 per day to bill not including tip. Also, I'm fine with same linen and reusing towels but room should be refreshed without asking. This isn't a cheap motel....expect more from a La Quinta. […] Rooms were nicer than worn out looking building exterior. Easy walk to Capitol or downtown attractions. BTW...more critical as I'm former Austin resident and have stayed at this hotel many times. "6th street visit"
Me and 4 other girls went west to Austin to visit 6th street for a weekend. The distance was perfect, it was just a short 5 minute walk to the center of the bars so no driving needed! The rooms were decent, nothing fancy but for the price and location, I would room there again. Didn't plan on spending much time in it anyways other than getting ready […] and sleeping! Don't have high expectations on looks and it'll be just fine! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Too much for a La Quinta. Unimpressed, except for location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay"
Very pleased with the hotel. The staff was outstandingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Good value. My only criticism is that the coffee and condominents for the coffee is awful. Coffee is just cheap. If they were to improve the coffee service . I am not talking about Starbucks or Seattle's Best but just a good quality with condominents. I would then rate it a good to excellent but. G. HesterGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent hotel near capitol"
Reasonably priced basic hotel. Public spaces are a little dog eared but the room was fine. Good location for business or partying on 6th St. Friendly staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Long in the tooth"
This LaQuinta is old, poorly maintained, dirty and smelly. The staff was unfriendly, the maid failed to clean our bathroom, breakfast was minimal. My wife could not drink the coffee. The bright spot was the valet parkers, who were cheery and funny. They were contract workers, not employed by LaQuinta. Makes me wonder about the management. Great location […] however. "Another solid La Quinta location"
I've stayed at a few La Quintas and I'm always pleased. This one in Austin has a particularly good location, I walked to 6th street for dinner in about 7 minutes. Maybe 5 minutes. The building is a little older than others I've stayed at but it is still well-maintained.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I guess the location is everything, but I expected a lot more for about $200 per night. No fridge in the rooms, rooms were small and outdated, hallways were claustrophobic, there was no coffee at the breakfast bar (and none of the staff seemed to think that was a problem.) This was the kind of room I expect for $75 - $100 per night: safe and clean and […] only minor problems, but nothing special. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Week-end getaway with family. Hotel staff were very helpful. Central location made everything within walkable distance - walked to The Capitol, walked to the UT campus, walked to the Bat Bridge. Great experience at Hotel!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for Capital activities"
This former 'motel' has been transformed into a very comfortable place to stay when you have downtown business. I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort and cleanliness of the room. The staff, especially the Valet Parking attendants, were GREAT! Friendly, helpful. We had a great stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was small and older. Only valet parking available. Although I don't think the hotel was worth the price the staff very friendly and accomodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice people. Facility not great"
The hotel staff was great. The furniture was uncomfortable. The toilet was almost child size it was so low. Good location Pricie for the amenitiesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
When I arrived to check in, the room that they sent me to was not clean. I trudged back to the front desk, and told them about the room. I asked them to hold my luggage so that I could leave and find dinner and hopefully when I returned I'd have a room. When I got back, I settled in with my take out, changed into night clothes, and tried to turn on […] the TV set. It didn't work, with or without remote. I called the front desk to find out if I had missed something. Magic word, etc. The man at the desk offered to come and check it out, but I was so tired, and I didn't want to move again, or change back into street clothes to let someone in. The next morning I decided to make coffee, in the coffee maker that also did not work. So, I realize that these are all first world problems, but my stay was not what I would have expected, and I would not recommend this hotel to any one else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"great hotel for a great price"
always enjoy my stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the trouble for me with this hotel was that the walls are thin and I could hear people's conversations out in the hall very clearly. Partying visitors kept me up throughout the night on the weekend. With a combination of earplugs, using a white noise website on my laptop, running both the bathroom and the main room fans in the room (both loud) all night, […] and a pillow over my head, I was finally able to get to sleep. Try to get a room at the far end of the hallway so you don't have to hear as many people passing by. I dislike being required to pay an extra $13 a night for valet parking so I initially almost didnt stay there. But in terms of its proximity to both downtown and the UT campus, the location can hardly be beat. I do NOT think it was a good value for the money. Most La Quintas are, but this one charges a very high room rate for a hotel that is middle-of-the-road, and in fact a bit old and like I said, really needs better insulation. But it's not like you can do any better in that area of town unless you are prepared to pay for a Hilton or Marriott. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Inflated rates for a less than mediocre hotel"
This hotel has a prime location and service is great but the ambiance and the structure itself ahouls be fully remodeled. The most disappointing thing is to pay 200+ dollars a night for a hotel that's condition is the equivalent to a motel 6. Don't think you will ever get sleep here. The walls are thin and the architecture is like a walk up to your […] room in where your room and window faces the main hallways and traffic. You can hear every sound from the inside of your room as well as all the vehicle traffic. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Okay -- but would not stay there again"
Staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. This hotel is obviously rather old and a bit worn down. While the breakfast was adequate, choice was limited and offered no protein (eggs, sausage, etc) In January, I stayed at another establishment that offered much better fare and their prices were lower. A personal gripe that applies everywhere: charging […] for parking. I normally avoid hotels that do so if at all possible. And their charge for parking was not mentioned in their write up. It is within walking distance of the 6th Street District if that's your thing -- not mine. I was attending an athletic event at The University of Texas, which was within reasonable walking distance. We enjoyed our stay. The required valet parking was fast and convenient. They even quickly gave me my keys and let me run to the car when I forgot something. The front desk staff was very friendly as well. The room was nice. I felt like it could have been colder, but I turned the AC all the way down and it was comfortable enough. The room was clean […] for the most part. Breakfast was pretty tasty. The Texas shaped waffle makers were a nice touch. I loved the closeness to the capital and Frank Erwin Center. Walking around was a breeze. I would definitely stay here again, but wish it wasn't so expensive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
