"Good central location. Great mid-week rate."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Its not a 4 star hotel. But, it's clean convenient and for the rate I paid for a mid-week stay, I couldn't be more happy. A Saturday or Sunday stay and the rate is almost twice as much, so I did a Tuesday thru Thursday (3 nights) for which was a real bargain.

"Wow Very Over Priced in Every Way"
I felt this place is Over Rated and Way Over Priced. Pool Side Bar is Way High Priced I ended up bringing my own drinks to the Pool because the prices are Not within reason. We enjoyed the Fire Pits which are located through out the Hotel area at Night. The Tub in our room was one of the Most things we enjoyed. Be aware of the Hotel Charges which are […] seperate from your Hotel Bill meaning $28 extra Plus 13% Tax Per Night it does and up fast. I would say Look else where Read more

"This hotel is TOTALLY OVER RATED"
I would NEVER consider staying here again. Halls smelled of vomit...guests were running up and down the halls screaming until 4:00 a.m. BOTH nights that we stayed. The hotel staff was deplorable....slow service and arrogant. We stood and watched a front deck clerk flirt with a couple of pre-teen girls. He turned to us and said, "someone will get to […] you...eventually." Really? We sat at breakfast next to a couple from the UK and a family from Germany. They were absolutely astonished at had bad the hotel was. We live in LA and are building a multi-million dollar home in Palm Springs. We came out to meet with the builders. The hotel staff treated us like dirt. You DON'T want to stay at this hotel. It's gimmicky and cheap. Read more
"no towels"
My Husband and I checked into our room and i immediately jumped in the shower. The first thing i noticed was that the shower was filling up with water. Gross. So i quickly finished and went to grab a towel and there were none. Only hand towels. As i dried off with a hand towel my husband called the front desk and told them 1. the shower fills with water […] could they fix it when they cleaned the room and 2. we dont have towels. 15-20 min. later they bring the towels. The next afternoon we head to the pool. No towels. They said they were being washed!! After the pool we head back to our room. Its made up i take a shower and it still fills up with water and i get out and to my surprise no towels. haha at this point it was little comical. Read more
Our hotel stay was horrible! Do NOT stay at this hotel! The service level and staff couldn't be worse. At our arrival, a front desk representative was flirting with some very young girls and dismissively told us, "someone else will be with you shortly", and continued to flirt with these girls. Consequently, it took us 25 minutes to check in...which […] made us late for a dinner reservation with Palm Springs friends in the HOTEL'S restaurant. We slept about 3 hours each night because of all the partying going on over our heads. It continued until 4:00 a.m. each night. In the elevator after the first day, we met a family from the U.K. with a couple of kids and they commented on how horrible it was. The halls smell like vomit which was totally in keeping with a fraternity atmosphere. Each morning at breakfast we had to beg for service. Simply getting coffee took 25 minutes. Once our food came (omelets that bled raw eggs), we asked THREE TIMES for our bill which we we got roughly 30 minutes later. Seated next to us was a young couple from Germany. They were also receiving horrible service and told us that they were already looking for another hotel in the area for the balance of their vacation. We used the valet for our car which took so long, we had to move morning appointments back 45 minutes. While the site looks trendy online, it doesn't do justice to the horrible experience you will have. We have since returned to Los Angeles and shared this experience with friends. Their response? "What possessed you to make a reservation at THAT hotel?" Read more
"The Riviera Hotel - close to downtown Palm Springs"
Nice hotel, but definitely had quite a few blips along the way. We've stayed here twice. The first time was awesome. Everything was perfect! This time, not so much. Everything from we didn't get the room we paid extra for, to the maids took a bag of snacks out of our room, that we assume they thought was trash, to them completely forgetting our lunch […] order while out by the pool. Also in the room, the sinks didn't drain, so it was very hard to shave or even brush your teeth. They definitely tried to make up for it and accomodate us as best they could, and we appreciated that. Also, a lot more families and kids than we remember. Not there's anything wrong with that, but if you're looking for a more adult oriented atmosphere this is probably not the place. On the positives, the front desk was always very pleasant and accomodating, and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Honestly, not sure I'd recommend it again. Read more
"Nice staff, but way understaffed"
They were clearly understaffed (for spring break?) but rooms and common areas, except pool, were not cleaned regularly.
"Save Your Money"
Hotel charges a nightly resort fee for a pool area with no available chairs and no clean towels. Lobby is pretty but it is all smoke and mirrors. The rest of the resort is just a poorly redecorated motel.
"Riviera, Palm Springs"
Great 50's decor and good location. Pool areas are nice but can get very crowded. Restaurants are not anything special, and cleaning crew needs a lesson on how to clean a room. Hallways are very noisie especially with the children of careless parents. Half of the lights in our room were disconected or in need of lightbulbs. I would reccomend this hotel […] as long as it is not during spring break, just need to know to deal with the inconveniences. Read more
"Past its prime"
This hotel was probably a quality 4 star hotel at one time but it has really let itself go. The lobby is fantastic but everywhere else is looking frayed and stained. Even the main pool area, which had a great atmosphere, was quite shabby. Almost all of the lounge chairs were coming apart in some way: either the plastic weave on the chairs was unraveling […] or there were rips in the fabric of the cushions, etc. The first room they put us in when we arrived had duct tape holding one of the window panes in place! After complaining they moved us to another room but that one was a little shabby too (a large chip in the bathroom sink was glued back in place, the metal shower head was coming away from the wall, our towels were cheap looking and hard and one even had yellow stains on it). The hallways were a bit smelly but that may have been because they had been steam cleaning them when we arrived. Also, they were a little under-staffed so that calls to the front desk and housekeeping usually went to voice mail and the room service trays and garbage bags from when the rooms were cleaned were in the hallways for a long time after they'd been placed there. However, the staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was very good from the restaurant and the bar but the place has seen better days. Even the plant pots in the hallway are tipping over and leaking rust stains across the floor throughout the hotel. It is so close to being somewhere I could recommend but it is in serious need of an upgrade. Also, one strange thing about the pool area: the hotel went to the effort of placing cards on all of the lounge chairs stating that the chairs can not be reserved and it is first-come, first-served. However, the pool staff were taking money to "reserve" seats for people. We had several awkward encounters with people demanding that they had reserved the chairs we were sitting in but when we got them there was no indication that they were reserved. In fact they had the "you can't reserve t Read more

Room was on the second floor and there was no elevator. Parking was not too far away but lugging all the luggage and having to walk to second floor was not fun. I did find someone to help me, but not one person in the staff mentioned it. Not enough waitresses at pool so had to wait a long time to get your order whatever it was even just a drink. Decoration […] in room was from another decade. The nicest part of the room was the bathroom. And the balcony was nice for one, but if more than one person had to sit down it was crowded. Read more

"Would have gien 5 stars, but..."
Went for my b-day wknd (4/6 - 4/8). We were told at check-in that we were given a pool view room. NOT. Called front desk and was told they could move us to a room with a pool view, but had to called us back. 30 minutes went by and we are still waiting for the call. I called back and was told they would send someone with a key to the new room. After […] waiting another 40 minutes we got a called from the front desk saying the new room was unavailable because of maintenance issues so we were stuck. The room in it's self was fine, but the view sucked. overall the stay was fine. i would go again. Read more
"Love this hotel, but..."
We have stayed at the Riviera before. This time, our experience was not as good when it came to service. The person who checked us in was not very friendly and short with her answers. We arrived early, and our room became available 5 minutes before 4 pm. So we went to the pool. There were literally no lounge chairs at the main pool. We put our name […] on a waiting list for a lounge chair with our phone number, and they never called us, after saying we were #6 on the list. We ended up at the smaller pool with kids, and we have no kids. We barely found lounge chairs at the other pool. The bathrooms by the pool were not clean at all. They had not been touched for hours. The menu at the pool is very limited but the restaurant at the Riviera is very good. When we went to our room, the phone in the room was not working at all. So what did we get for our money, I would say nice room to stay with no phone, good ambiance and good looking people, pool we couldn't properly use, and service that was not good. With all the money spent on renovations, I would invest more money on service, and also purchasing more lounge chairs and eliminating the "booths" they have with bottle service that were pretty much empty all weekend. "Riviera Palm Springs"
Old hotel with some nice upgrades. Needs more staff. There was NO service at the smaller pool. This could be good, if you wanted quiet seclusion. No music at the main pool. This was a problem for several of the guests i spoke with. Many guests brought their pets out by the pool, I thought this was rude... because there were signs posted that this was […] not allowed. Housekeeping was not very thorough. I loved the food at Circa 59. The gym and spa were nice. The beds were comfortable. The walls of the hotel seemed to be very thin. You could here everything next door. Read more
"RIVIERA HOTEL & SPA/PALM SPRINGS"
What a cool hotel! Swank, retro, sweet!. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. One block off of the 111 hwy (main strip). Swimming pool was perfect, outdoor hot tub, perfect again. Super cool fire pits near pool and hot tub that they light at night. Did not eat in the restaurant but at at the pool and the food was great.
"resort fee"
The resort fee should be included in the daily rate this is the first time I have encounter this
"Cool Hotel"
Cool hotel .. although the hallways looked a little warn .. the staff seemed a little bitter and short and not the best in customer service. Had to listen to loud Techno music at the pool all day and no one seemed to be into it .. when we spoke with the staff they were defensive. Also tried to order something off the menu that had an "unpublished" […] charge and the lady taking my order was very curt and said "that's the way it is" .. just overall didn't seem like a top quality service staff in general .. good location. "Needs TLC"
This hotel is old but refurbished. The rooms and lobby are very nice. The low ceilings in the hall ways along with the poor lighting contribute to a dingy feel. Coffee was a problem. The little machine in the room did not work. The room service option was way slow (over an hour). Coffee was available pool side but only on the weekend. Seems like a […] simple option to have coffee at the front desk during the week. There is no place within walking distance so you are stuck. The pools are wonderful. Loads of seating. The small pool between bldgs 3-4 is much more quiet especially on the weekends. Nice to be able to get away from the kids. Restaurant is fab. Indoor and outdoor seating just lovely with gas fire pits all around. The menu is heavy fare. Would have preferred some more light and innovative options. Appetizer menu a great option. The arugula and pear salad and crab cake with lobster sauce were great. Bar area is also beautiful adjoins the restaurant. The hotel is not in the hear of Palm Springs so a car is needed to get to town. But it is only about 3 miles. Read more

clean and spacious, however, they should tell you that there is a dj at the pool that is not just loud but glass-shattering loud. you can't relax by the pool which was the intention of our visit. if we had known that, we probably would have chosen another spot. i like music, but i mean, really?? i felt like we were at a rave.
"Riviera Palm Springs - good"
We went for a romantic getaway and had a great time and came away with a good impression. The hotel and Circa 59 staff were great with a causal and friendly approach. The food was very good they were ALWAYS willing to deliver special requests. The hotel maintenance was a little sketchy and the grounds were a little untidy. "Highly recommended!"
One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. Very eclectic, with a 50's theme. Classy, elegant, confortable. Worth every penny6
"Riviera return visit"
Never a disapppointment. The staff is uber friendly and eager to please. I love the many fire pits around the property and the pool area is huge and well appointed. Great drinks and snacks poolside too. I always chose a Jr suite...perfect size. The beds and linens feel like home.
"RIviera Resort"
Superficially a very nice resort, but time and age has played a number on this hotel. The walls are thin, so you hear EVERYTHING, some deck chairs and cushions need to be replaced, In room toiletries and toilet paper are sub standard. On the up side, the pool is awesome.

"Fantastic Time"
From the moment we checked in, we had a great experience at the Riviera. The staff was very courteous, the retro feel was invigorating, the live music relaxing, and the fire-pits by the pool ooh so cozy. My wife enjoyed the spa and we spent an evening dancing in the upscale lounge. The location is convenient, but not really walking distance to the downtown […] area. Also, no golf course on the resort. Overall, a great value and we would definitely stay again. Read more

"HORRIFIC !!!!"
This hotel is a complete mess.. house keeping is non existing, and the rooms are FILTHY !!! I wouldn`t even recommend this hotel to my worst enemy, its THAT bad. The rooms are so dirty that we had to change rooms 3 times, and nothing works.....Dirty carpets with crumbs on them, old hair in the shower, no hot water in one sink...Lamps are either broken […] or missing bulbs, TV remote didnt work, outlets in bathroom were broken, and we had to ASK for toilet paper and other bathroom amenities such as wash cloths and a towels. The pool is a mess too.. If you want to use the pool, you better get up at 7 am and reserve a chair for yourself because that`s what everybody else is doing (although according to management you are not supposed to) Still everyone does it... Then they show up at Noon to actually use it.. therefor.. if you dare to get to the pool around 10 am or so.. forget it.. there are no chairs available despite that there are no one in them..A fight actually broke out around the pool one day I was walking by, due to the fact that someone had taken someones "reserved" chair..!!! RIDICULOUS and very stressful... (something you dont need on a vacation) There is also mold in several locations of the property such as the gym.. I would never go back there.. There is NO accountability in this hotel, and there is a complete lack of management !Therefor...Next time I`m in Palm Springs, I am staying far away from the Riviera, and If you DO decide to stay here after reading this.... make sure you bring your own handy man and cleaning supplies... Needed room service for all meals. Not one meal came the way it was supposed to be. We were very clear about it and it was simple things. No difference each day and even when the manager got involved it did not help. The delivery people were very friendly and gracious and had to make several unnecessary trips each time. It made everything so unpleasant. […] Management was nice but could not do anything about this yet they tried. Read more
"Thanksgiving at Riviera"
Rooms have beautiful vintage design - which one would expect in Palm Springs. I was unpleasantly surprised by additional charge of $39 per night, which was on top of Hotels.Com rate. Read carefully small print - resort fee and local taxes are hidden there. Kids and dogs are allowed. Plus you can hear neighbors very well - no sound vaulting of the rooms. […] All this combined - in three nights I stayed I could never sleep past 9AM. Location is very close to center of Palm Springs - about 5 min drive, can't walk there. Next time I'll rent a house for a weekend for that money. But it is worthwhile of doing once. Read more

"The Riviera is on the outskirts of Palm Springs"
The hotel is in a nondescript part of Palm Springs. The hotel is fine. The problem was the service. We arrived on Thganksgiving. We were told the restauarnt would be open from 11-3pm, yet they broke the buffet down at 2 30. We were not informed of that so when we went back to actually eat, the food was gone. Also, after seating us in an empty dining […] room, we were asked to move so they could set up for a party. On another note, i do not know if it is because we booked through Hotels.com ( at a discounted price) but the initial room were were shown faced a wall--i.e. there was no view.. We had a suite, not just a standard room. The next room was not much better. i said maybe we should just find another hotel ( i booked 2 rooms for the family), and miraculously a nice room with a view was available. It is a loud hotel with lots of kids and dogs. I will not go back Read more

Staff absolutely excellent. Friendly, kind & helpful. Room service also excellent considering size of hotel! Beautiful pool area, room immaculately clean. Hallways were long dark and depressing. Hotel has had a make-over but someone forgot the elevators and doors. Sliding glass door in room old and broken. Elevator doors looked like someone had taken […] bites out of them. Not enough elevators and too far to walk for anyone with mobility issues. Our room was too far away from parking & restaurant & difficult to find because hallways all decorated the same with really ugly green wallpaper & low dark green painted ceilings. Also needs a larger check in area. Only 2 receptionists, with a line of abt 100 people waiting to check in/out. Read more

"Riviera Resort and Spa - Not all that it may seem"
This place is not what it seems. Beautiful in pictures and at a glance. But when you look closely you can tell they don't do any upkeep. The pool is filthy. There was a bug in our bathtub when we checked in. And a spiderweb in the ceiling. It's a shame because this hotel could have a lot of potential if they just kept it clean.
