"Great place to stay in Clemsom"
When we booked this stay we did not realize we had stayed at this hotel over a year ago. The hotel is newly renovated and much improved. The rooms are clean. The staff is very professional and friendly. Would certainly return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's an average property"
The property is average. It's all in a Clemson theme which is really neat, but the remodel, when you look closely, looks like it was done by a contractor who did not pay attention to detail...clothing rod not properly placed, tile with the barcode showing, door knobs not properly secured, old HVAC units still in rooms, pocket doors improperly installed, […] paint not professionally applied...nothing that really affected the stay so to speak...just shoddy attention to detail. "Very nice for the money"
Our hotel room was very clean and the staff was friendly. The only problem I had was the bathroom area is pretty small. There is a very small room with the toilet and shower (shower felt great) and then a small outer area with a sink area. The beds were comfortable. We would stay here again even with the small bathroom area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfort and casual"
Very nice room and comfortable. We could tell that this was a new remodel and it was still cozy and warm. Will stay again when visiting my family in Seneca.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will stay Again! 4 sure"

"Better than expected."
Exceeded my expectations. I will be staying there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Management was superb and very nice , I had 3 rooms for a graduation and it worked out well , they were great..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everyone was always super nice! The room was a lot larger than I was expecting and super spacious. The beds were so comfortable. This is definitely the hotel I will stay at every time I visit Clemson. Also so close to everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible front desk woman"
There is a woman who works at the front desk, who is nowhere to be found when I walked in. After waiting five minutes, I rang the bell. She came out with an attitude like I had disturb her. She kind of just stared at me waiting for me to make the introduction of who I was and that I was checking in. She had no friendly tone whatsoever, and I felt like […] I was being judged, maybe because I'm younger. Who knows. I've been here for one day one night and halfway through the second day, and in my second and third experience with her, she has still been less than friendly. Apparently, she does not like saying hello to you first, or asking how she can help. It's quite awkward and fact. You walk up and instead of greeting you, she just stares at you until you say something first. When I asked her where I could find the coffee, she made me feel stupid saying, "you don't see it? It's right over there." When I asked her if my key would still work today, because sometimes after staying in a hotel for a couple days, the key will stop working automatically. Again, she made me feel stupid, saying that of course that would not be the case here. How would she know that for sure? It just happened to me at a hotel I was staying at the night before. But nonetheless she checked the key for me, and handed it back saying, see? It's fine." I've never had such a horrible front desk experience. It's like she wants you to know how much she truly distaste helping other people, or at least in my experience Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A lovely boutique hotel near the Clemson campus"
I was in Clemson on business stayed at Hotel Tillman one night. It exceeded my expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. My room was new. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. It's conveniently located within about 5 minutes of the Clemson campus. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Hotel Tillman again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel Tillman was excellent stay. I would stay again and recommend it to my friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"close to down town clemson"
Our stay was good except for very noisey ajoining room, but to be expected after a winning football game. The grounds had alot of old furniture spread out next to the dumpster. Should have been better organized.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was clean and the service was good. The only thing was the rooms are totally basic. Reminded me of a nursing home or hospital room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location, adequate accomodation"
Great location for Clemson U. access. Room was average with OK beds but could have benefited from a comfortable chair. The shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. This hotel is undergoing renovations, so windows were covered with opaque plastic sheets. Also sounded in close proximity to train tracks, though trains were fortunately infrequent. Complimentary […] breakfast was average. Hotel staff was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in customer satisfaction. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Under construction, but clean and friendly!"
Saw lots of not-so-great posts, but even though our room was lacking a room number (room 114) it had a piece of tape with the number on it, the room was clean, and fresh, and cold a/c. We had a wonderful stay, and the staff was friendly and courteous. It is very close to the school and if I had to go back to Clemson, I'd definitely stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to the Clemson & The Walker Course"
The hotel fit our needs. There for a golf tourney @ the Clemson GC. Close to the course and places to eat. Under remodeling during our stay but rooms were fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place for the price. It is in the process of renovation and Paint smell was strong.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Remodeling and Bastketball Campers"
It would have been to know that the hotel was currently being remodeled. So missing door numbers, missing flooring, the smell of fresh paint did not win us over. To add to that, they were hosting middle school to high school children basketball campers. This caused lots if noise from children running up and down the hall, slamming doors and yelling […] throughout the night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Give it some time"
The hotel is undergoing renovations. I would recommend waiting until the work is complete before staying here. There was a strong smell of mold in the bathroom area that became worse each day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was clean and the location was terrific for our visit to Clemson. However, the hotel is under major renovations - I'm sure it will be terrific once finished, but it was a little disconcerting. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful, which was very nice. They were apologetic for the disarray. The room itself was what I would call […] a "space-saver." It was somewhat akward in the layout though. The sink was adjacent to the beds and there was a sliding door for the toilet and shower room. It was all very close together - not much privacy. Again, location was great and the staff was very friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't stay here"
I booked a room here online because hotels.com flagged it as the best deal for Clemson, but I requested and received a refund after arriving in my room. The entire place is under construction, with plaster and sawdust all over the place, and I seemed to be the only person staying there besides the noisy construction workers. My room had no number on […] the door and reeked of cigarettes, and the phone did not work. Maybe this place will be nicer once the construction is complete. Meanwhile, stay away! "Half way there to a nice hotel"
The room was clean and staff was friendly. Typical hotel breakfast. The hotel is in the middle of what seems to be a verrry slow remodel. Not that it affected my stay, the remodel crew needs to do some cleanup around the facility. Trash and leftover cut tile all over the place. Kind of junkie looking. All in all, for the money, not too bad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"our stay at hotel Tillman"
02/22/15 Denise M Depew, New York
My wife and I live in Buffalo NY. We had to come to Pendleton SC due to a death in our family. Didn't have a lot of time to plan this trip. When we arrived the hotel was clean, our room was very nice, the hotel staff was outstanding. Our car was very dirty from the road, and due to the cold temperatures, no car washes were open. We had to go to the funeral, so the hotel manager & another gentleman stood outside in the freezing cold and washed the outside of our car and when offered a tip they wouldn't accept it. Just stated they were "happy to help." The breakfast was great. Freshly prepared food with many choices! The hotel staff seemed happy and attentive to our needs. We checked out, and then because of the needs of a family member, decided that we needed to spend one more night, so I called the hotel, it was booked up due to a fishing tournament. Instead of just hanging up the manager asked me to call back in a half hour, there might be a cancellation, so I called back and he booked the room for us for the additional night. My wife and I were very happy with the hotel and the staff. We would definitely stay again & would recommend the hotel to anyone. Russell & Denise Mongiovi
"A Boutique Hotel? NOT!"
02/17/15 MK H Madisonville, Louisiana
Poor is for the attempt to market itself as a boutique hotel. It is a repainted Sleep Inn. and the paint job is not good either. I would give a GREAT to the night manager. I showed him the bathroom, with the tiles missing and gaping area around it. He offered to move us. He made a call so we could get some dinner. I expected better based on the photos I saw on line when researching places to stay for a Clemson visit. The shower door opens backwards, so one must get in the shower to turn it on. The breakfast is sub par. The bed linens are new,,but on what I surmise to be old soft mattresses. The room was clean. The wifi did not connect. When it did it was poor and cut off, so I would not count that as a wifi.

Hard to sleep with Train Track within 50 feet of the hotel. Air conditioning did not work. Turned on fan but it would come on and off. Room was clean and updated. Breakfast was free. Not worth the price
"Nothing of BOUTIQUE"
02/07/15 BeachWaterTraveler Charleston, South Carolina
Our room was overly perfumed 7 hours after check-in, the train behind the hotel came through every 2 hrs, bathroom smelled like cat urine/missing tiles. However, the bed was comfortable. Definitely not recommending this hotel.
"Business trips to Clemson"
01/26/15 Andy M Atlanta, Georgia
Can’t say enough good things about this property. Have made several recent business trips to the Clemson area and I always stayed here. Rooms are quiet, very clean & neat. Entire staff is friendly, courtesy and helpful. While I wasn’t looking for any fine dining, there are a number of eating establishments within a couple of blocks in either direction. And, travel to the University campus is very convenient, if that is your ultimate destination. I will be staying here on my future trips and would recommend it to others.

I never write reviews, but I feel that this time, a review was warranted. In the past couple months, I've stayed at around 30 hotels while interviewing around the country for jobs. I believe that the Hotel Tillman, for the price, was the nicest and cleanest hotel with the friendliest people and best breakfast that I found. The room was spotless and obviously newly renovated, and the breakfast the next morning was great with a clean dining room and constantly refilled food trays. The only negative thing I would say is that the bed was fairly firm, but I sleep on a pretty soft bed at home, and I'm picky. Will stay here again.
"Awesome Place to Stay!!!"
11/28/14 Tyler K Peabody, Massachusetts
Clemson Alum coming back for the Georgia State game: Everyone was incredibly nice, attentive staff (Chris P.) helped us out a lot (finding local spots, late night snack options, etc). Really love the new look and feel of the hotel, the University colors adorn the walls of the rooms and bring back pleasant memories!
"Clemson football weekend"
11/25/14 62kt2014 North Augusta, South Carolina
Great location, friendly staff (John). Room was nice and well thought out. Refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. Plenty of storage area. The bathroom a little small but shower stall area was big. Only wish there were more hooks in bathroom area to hang clothes. Breakfast was very good. Choices of cereals, yogurts, fruits, breads(toast, bagel, & biscuit) sausage gravy, cheese egg omelet, and homemade waffles. Kitchen staff wonderful by refilling food never running out. Great location close to downtown Clemson and close to Clemson football field. Restaurants near hotel that we ate at was Ruby Tuesday and Pizza Hut. Next door to hotel was a Long John Silvers and KFC together. Across the street a Walgreen. When we go back to Clemson we will try to stay again at HOTEL TILLMAN! Thank you John for all your help.
"Tiger military appreciation weekend"
11/25/14 nadps53jrt North Augusta, South Carolina
Great room, great sleep. Will stay there again. First time I have stayed in a Clemson hotel but this will not be the last time I stay at the Hotel Tillman. I read some bad reviews about it, but those reviews were before the the remodeling job. Our room was beautiful, beds were very comfortable. I slept like a baby. Continental breakfast is good.
"Why they call it a boutique hotel is a mystery"
11/18/14 peterp_knobel Unteraegeri
This is just a very average budget motel. Why they call it a Boutique Hotel remains mysterious. The rooms are average, clean, but budgety, not particularly tastefully decorated. The breakfast is minimal, self Service, pre-fab, nothing special at all. The location is convenient for drivers, on Tiger Avenue, but very noisy.
