Island Inn Beach Resort - Treasure Island

This place was amazing! We didn't want to leave. They let us check in early and we could walk right onto the beach from the hotel. The pool was so warm, and everyone very friendly! We even got to see dolphins from our room's balcony! It was an amazing trip. Just wish it lasted longer!!

This place had everything we needed for a week with the kids. Complementary sit-on-top kayaks for tooling around in the surf. GRILLS to do dinner. We saved $$$$ because we never had to leave to get a meal. (Although the poolside bar did dent the wallet a bit!) Staff was excellent and on the ball. This hotel was good for what we were looking for and the location can't be beat. My only issue was that the hotel is a bit old and slightly run down and our room smelled like smoke/musty, we kept the balcony door opened and that helped quite a bit.

Older hotel but clean and convienent. The only thing we did not enjoy was the beds they are VERY hard an the pillows are flat making it an uncomfortable stay. The kitchen was useful but would be better if it was stocked with condiments or spices SOMETHING is better than nothing :)

Good value on the beach. Hotel was within walking distance to several restaurants, bars and grocery store. It was a short drive to Johns Pass as well. Older, well maintained hotel with friendly staff located on the beach at a reasonable price.

It's obvious that this is an OLDER Hotel, but they've done a good job with up-keep and new furnishings to the rooms. It was well-stocked and very acommadating. The bedding was a little lacking-clean-but sheets were thin & pilled. Newer clean carpet, but wish the house keeping would learn to use cleaner RINSE water=tile floor was tacky & sinks needed […] a deeper cleaning job. The location of this hotel is perfect, right on the beach and all rooms have their own balcony overlooking the Gulf. My understanding is that all rooms are individually owned therefore they may vary from photos on the website. My only criticism was that our king sized bed didn't have king sized pillows (3 standard pillows) but as we always take our […] own this wasn't a problem. Our room was very well equipped and the bed was comfortable. Whilst ours was a non smoking room, guests in other rooms were smoking on the balconies which made it quite unpleasant on occasions to sit outside. We really liked this place. The location is great--right on the Gulf, just past the more crowded central part of Treasure Island, a short on-sand walk from always-great Caddy's on the Beach. One could theoretically walk to the nice Publix grocery store; we opted for a two-minute drive. I prefer an "old school '70s Florida"-type hotel when I visit […] this part of the country (rather than a crowded high-rise condo with no personality), and the Island Inn fit the bill. The place was clean and semi-updated, the bed was reasonably comfortable, the bathroom was fine with decent water pressure (sure the shower drain was slow, but considering how much sand goes down that drain it's to be expected), the kitchen was functional if not fantastic (sink, full-size fridge, microwave, two-burner stove), the AC worked well. And what's not to love about a balcony right on the beach. The front desk staff was wonderful. Our only complaint was the daily super-early (and super-loud) arrival of "HOUSEKEEPING!!!!! BANG BANG BANG BANG!!!!!" (This hotel could use some "do not disturb" signs. They didn't have any.) Tip: get some 20%-off coupons for Caddy's from the Island Inn front desk. Read more

The room did overlook the beach, and the view was excellent, but that is the only thing we enjoyed about our stay. The floors were so dirty they left our feet black. The beds were hard as a rock, and small for doubles. The pillows were so flat that two felt like a single pillow. When we arrived to our location it was sunset and absolutely beautiful. The sky was vibrant pink and the waves were lapping the shore. It was a great first impression . . .then we went to our room. Our room was decorated nice enough, but we had a few extra things that were undesirable. Bobbie pins on our sink and on our ice tray, a half bottle of Coke […] Zero waiting for us on the table along with a red solo cup partially filled and a fast food cup about empty. The soap on the sink was opened and used. Another surprise when we went into the bathroom was a used, wet pair of false eyelashes stuck to the tub. We pretty much got an oops for all of these things. Although we stayed in a non smoking room there was smoking on the balcony below us and we could not stay out on ours to enjoy the beauty as the smoke waifted straight up. We very much enjoyed the beach and the pool along with the cayaking (free with room rental). That part of the stay was outstanding. It would seem that it is the natural beauty is the draw for this hotel and the management does not seem to have an interest in keeping the hotel updated and cleaned up. When we checked out, there was a daily fee added even though we had purchased through Hotel.com and had an invoice stating that we were paid in full. They said it was for the use of the towels and the coffee in the lobby . . .Really??? Lastly, as we were checking out someone called to see if they could check in and it was for our room and they said yes, it would be ready in 10 - 15 minutes. We stayed for a week and it was only going to take them 10 minutes to clean and sanitize our room, make our bed, do the dishes and put up the towels? They were generous enough to let us have a one hour late check out, but that was only after being reminded of the shape of the room upon our arrival. Next time we will be looking elsewhere to stay. An older resort sitting on the beach. Needs some minor maintanance (bathroom door didn't close all the way) and the kitchen was well equipped but could have been stocked with paper towels and coffee filters. Nice Balcony with Ocean View---Beautiful sunsets and right on the beach! Room was clean and the complimentary Paddle Boards were nice. Also, nice volleyball court. We go over to about 20 Rays baseball games a year. We live about 60 miles from the Trop and stay in St Pete about 3-5 times a year after the game and to enjoy the beach. It's an older hotel without a whole lot of bells and whistles, but it was very accomodating and comfortable. Most of the rooms have balconies that face the beatiful views of the beach and ocean which is just a few steps away. They have a "Tiki" bar which was extremely convenient. I would go back!

tiki bar drinks were a bargain, but the food was microwaved, not cooked to order. had to have my linens changed as they appeared to have been "not changed" from the last guest. i felt safe as the hotel had security personel on site.

This is an older hotel and not a resort, it does not have any real ameneties: volletball ney, pool, and BBQ grills. On the very plus side, it is the closest to the beach of almost anu hotel. One of the best places to spend your vacation time will recommend for all my friends, very friendly costumer service. Reasonable prices close to the beach (or I should say it is right on beach).
