The hotel stay was perfect for what I needed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Anchor Inn Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, please come back to visit again soon.
The beds are hard, woke up with pimples the next day after sleeping. The rooms are also small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Anchor Inn We are in the process of replacing our worn mattresses, although we are not sure how you can develop pimples from a mattress that is a little harder than you are used to. If you can contact the hotel to advise which room you stayed in we will certainly put that mattress on high priority for replacement.
"Good location but........."
Our room was small and in a hall that was under renovation. When we entered the room it was over 80 degrees and the AC had been left off. The small fridge had graffiti scratched on the door and was also turned off. It had a sour odor that never did go away. The door knob to the tiny closet came off in our hand when we opened it. NONE of this was attended […] to by the hotel staff after we spoke with the front desk. The Continental Breakfast which was to run until 10 am had very little food out at 9 am when my family wanted to eat. The attendant begrudgingly put out a little more food when asked. The scrambled eggs were a mass of COLD, yellow, gelatin-like yuck that was so bad we decided to eat out and pay for breakfast the next morning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Would not recommend"
We have stayed here before over the past few years and been satisfied. This time we were extremely disappointed. I understand they are undergoing some construction but it does not excuse the condition of areas not affected or the professionalism of the staff. At 8:15 we went down for breakfast. The only thing there were the tubes of cereal mounted on […] the wall and barely enough milk for one bowl. The coffee was so weak you could see through it. When I asked the desk help about the breakfast they said it was over. I reminded them of the time and they said a lot of people checked out and they would get to it. They never did and it was just as bad the next day. The help just say behind the desk, wearing baseball caps and talking amongst themselves. We will not be back. Response by Anchor Inn Dear Susan, We are very sorry that you had a negative experience while you stayed at our property. You are 100% correct, that our front desk staff should be dressed and acting in a MOST professional manner. We will investigate to find out why they were not dressed per our dress code and why they were rude to not just you but to any any guest. That is completely unacceptable, thank you for bringing it to our attention.
"Works for the price"
I have ambiquious feelings about this hotel. It looks good form outside and the lobby is nice, clean, full of light but this where it ends. Hallways were being painted which meant dirty. The hotel has been there for a while for sure as you can say from the first look just behind the reception desk. Everything in the room worked well but looked old and […] dirty. Except for the bathroom, that was very nice: granite and marble look, very clean. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as we stayed there for there nights, we did not like the same food the third morning and some items missing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very disappointed. Found drugs in the room"
The only reason this wasn't rated as "terrible" is because we have stayed here before and the staff was very pleasant. The building is run down, but never felt unsafe. However, on this visit we had a terrible experience. After, we checked in we went to an early dinner, during that time the desk clerk called our home phone in a panic at least three times, […] even though the house sitters told him we weren't home, but near the hotel. When we returned at 7pm there was no note or message for us. However at 10:30pm the desk clerk called the room demanding we move rooms because the computer "made a mistake". When we told him we were in bed for the night he continued to insist, until I said unless there is a safety issue we were not moving. He was obviously panicked, but said he would call back and hung up. He never called back. In the morning my daughter saw a pill on the ground, when I sat back on the bed another pill appeared on the floor. I looked and saw a small bag of pills tucked up under the bed. At this point we quickly checked out- telling the desk clerk what happened and left. We will never stay there again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"convieniant to everything"
ive been to anchor in at least a dozen times hey have updated there rooms new bathrooms and beds the stay was good although my wife got to the hotel earlier than check in time and charged us another 60 dollars which I thought was crazy . the rooms were clean no complaints there .Its close to the railroad and buses so traveling into the city is not a […] problem . so if you want a decent place to stay and not spend a lot its made to order .don't expect top notch because it isn't but it fits the suite Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to shopping and lots of restaurants"
Our stay was good, actually stayed in same room. The only thing was the hotel was doing renovations to the floor we were on, getting ready to paint. Otherwise, very neat and was convenient to stay at close by where we needed to be.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"VERY Nice place to stay"
Undergoing renovations so parts were be worked on. The crew and staff were excellent and made sure the guests came first. Nice friendly neighborhood with everything you need. Many diverse dining options in walking distance. Will be staying there again in August.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Only asked for ONE thing and did not get it"
The purpose of staying here was because it was three blocks away from a wedding after party. I only asked ONE thing from the hotel. Since we are checking in so late (4AM), I asked them if they would allow me and my party to depart at a later time. They complied on the phone stating that 2-3PM was ok. When checking in the front desk guy was disgruntled […] and said they would not allow a later check out after 12. I tried to explain that it's almost like checking in the next day since we arrived so late but he wasn't having it. Needless to say we were all annoyed but stayed anyway. There's my review. If the Anchor Inn sees this, "Learn to keep your promises and be professional and you won't get reviews like this". Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Anchor Inn Sorry that you were misled by your telephone conversation with our staff. The hotel does allow for late checkouts of 2-3PM for a fee as posted on the Expedia and hotels.com websites. The late checkout fee would apply even if you arrive late at night. The reason for the late checkout fee is that in order for us to allow for our regular check in time to be at 12pm, we need time to prepare the rooms after checkout before the next guests arrive. The fee helps to defray the cost of the strong chance that we will not be able to rent the room again if the room is occupied until 3 pm. I hope this clarifies things.
"Marginally decent hotel, close to everything"
The room was a typical hotel room, comfy pillows and good sized room. I wish there was a microwave in the rooms. The only microwave is in the breakfast room, so no heating up leftovers for a midnight snack. The cleaning crew need serious training. The coffee pot was not cleaned, and there was a small amount of mold in the grout in the bathroom, and […] the carpets need a good carpet cleaning. On the plus side, I read that other reviewers smelled cigarettes, but I did not, and I am sensitive to it. The hotel is in the middle of common area updates, which was a very small inconvience, but they kept it confined to one small area. The staff was accommodating, but not overly anxious to go above and beyond. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Overpriced for what you get."
Way too expensive for this quality of hotel. The cost is way out of line for how dingy the overall atmosphere was. I would expect a better taken care of establishment for $350 (2 night stay).Genuine Expedia guest review
Excellent service and location. Bedding needs to be updated. Some renovations are in progress.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Anchor Inn was noisy, the wi fi did not work. Parking was limited. Would not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Anchor Inn As you may see from many of the recent comments we have been updating our hallways. Thank goodness we are almost done (only 2 sections to go). While we beautify the floors, walls and ceilings we also updated the WIFI infrastructure. The coverage is already double what it used to be and it is MUCH more reliable.
"Good value hotel"
The hotel personal were very helpful and friendly. My only negative comments are that they were refurbishing half the hotel and the pillows were extremely uncomfortable. The Hotel was located very conveniently next to pubic transportation both trains and busses. There was also a very good selection of restaurants and nice neighborhood bars within walking […] distance. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The only real negative was the room was too hot even with no heat on. Had to run the fan all night and the bathroom when taking a shower gets very hot unless you leave the door open. Room was very clean. Had a continental breakfast with cereal not and cold, bagels, mni muffins, juices, and coffee.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

For the price they charge, i expected something a little bit nicer. Would not recommend this place. The bed is really uncomfortable, can't really get a good night sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I stayed here because of the location, and because I had already paid for my room through hotels.com and needed a place to stay. The people checking in ahead of us were literally renting the room by the hour. Despite staying in a non smoking area, the entire room smelled of stale cigarettes. The staff was very unfriendly, and not responsive to our feedback. […] Hotels.com should not be booking this disgusting place. Very disappointed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The Anchor Inn is clean and comfortable. The Staff is extremely friendly and thoughtful. And the location can't be beat. There are a myriad of restaurants and clubs within a few minutes of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Do not stay here!! There are much better hotels down the road. This place is dirty and smells like smoke even if you stay in a non-smoking room. I was able to handle the uncleaniless of the establishment as you "get what you pay for", but my biggest concern was the noise of people coming in and out of the other rooms every hour. Not only the noise, […] but the patrons that we're coming in and out -read between the lines if you know what I mean. In short, if you are looking for a reasonable priced "motel", not hotel, to just try and get some sleep, stay here, but if you are looking for business comfortable accomodations, this is not the place for you. I will not be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good location, but that's about all."
The only thing this hotel has going for it is it's location three blocks from the Bayside train station. If you have business or family in Bayside, I guess it's OK. Otherwise, stay in Manhattan. The continental breakfast at the Adria, down the road, is much better.Genuine Expedia guest review
Although we had a confirmed reservation, they did not have it when we arrived. After a while we were given a cramped room. When we went in, it had not even been made up yet (It was 8:30 PM.) We were then given another very cramped room. Much smaller than the room we have stayed in in the past. It was made up, but felt quite dirty. You would not want […] to sit in the chair or walk barefoot on the rug. The internet would not work on any of our devices. Even the remote control did not work right, along with the iron that kept turning off. When we told the management that we were very unsatisfied with this room, they offered to give us another one, but not until mid-day tomorrow. At 10:30 we left and found another hotel. "Our stay was pleasant"
The hotel rooms were clean and presentable; our stay was good. Only problem is very bad parking; there are not enough hotel parking spots; when they are filled you have to pray that you find a parking spot on the road that is jam packed with neighborhood cars.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is pretty old but the staff are very nice. Some rooms have a small kitchen and the room we stayed in had a huge bathtub. Breakfast was average with some waffles, cereal and bagels. If you just want a place to stay in a pretty safe neighborhood, then this hotel should suffice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Neither phone worked for outgoing calls, the toilet seat cover was broken and kept sliding on and off. But most concerning was that upon arriving back in our room at 5pm on the 2nd day, our door was wide open, the floor had not been vacuumed, the coffee pot had not been cleaned out, and there were housecleaning rags left on my clothing in my suitcase. "Runaway from this place."
This was a run down hotel. It was dirty and worn. It was very noisy. The parking was terrible The place had no energy no life very depressing. The bed was as hard as the floor and so were the pillows. When we went down for breakfast at 7:30 there was one bagel and and three mini muffins. Not very well stocked. But the orange juice was cold and good. Front desk was not very friendly. I felt as if I was imposing on them when I checked in.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Marginal for several reasons."
First checked us into a smoking room which was not what we asked for. Also, electronic safe didn't work. Room was dark and dreary. WiFi would not work. Changed rooms, which corrected to non-smoking, working WiFi and safe. Room was obviously not well dusted.. Air conditioner filter was filthy. Bathroom was very good however. Parking is very limited and […] tight. Suggest you chek in before bringing in bags because you don'y know which section of the motel you will be in. "Getting Ashley in College"
The room was too small. We could barely turn around. The bathroom was tiny but clean. The beds were very comfortable. There was limited parking, and the continental breakfast was a farce! "This might appear on Gordon Ramsay's Hell Hotel."
Front desk is very accommodating. Bathroom is updated and feels clean. However, I am not a carpet person and prefer hotels with hardwood floors or good quality carpet. The hotel feels very dated (AC units looks old, rattles, and is heated by baseboard heaters). Some room had musky smell, and continental breakfast was very poor, no toaster or fresh fruits. […] I would never want to come back and stay at the hotel, this hotel seems to have been around too long, and isnt well designed with very narrow hallways, some space seems wasted. "Good stay if you're not too picky"
The stay was OK. The room was clean, some of the staff was friendly, but we have not interacted with them too much since we were out most of the time. One great thing is that the hotel has a parking and we could leave our car there safely while we were out in Manhattan. There is a convenient LLRI train station to Manhattan a few blocks away from the […] hotel. The breakfast wasn't great, they did not replenish stuff and we had to remind them all the time about that. "A satisfactory night in Bayside Queens"
Hotel was old, hallway a little musty. Our room was small, but my son and I were just looking for relief from a very hot day at a lacrosse tournament so it was OK. Room cooled down fast, shower OK, beds comfortable, TV, not many channels but nice set. Neighborhod a little rundown but there is a good variety of restaurants 2 blocks away on Bell Ave. […] We chose Donovan's Pub and it was a good place for a burger, wings were very good too. Front desk helpful, free onsite parking, no pool, no onsite dining other then breakfast. Continental breakfast at first glance seems spartan because the room is cramped, but if you take a closer look there is everything you need to have a good breakfast. Price was slightly better than Holiday Inns and other motels nearby. Summary-everything about the place is tight, but we were able to relax, eat a good meal at a local place, sleep well, and have a decent breakfast in the early AM so we were happy. "Bare bones and a local crash pad..."
As we were leaving we saw what we believed to be a roach crawling under the bed, which grossed us out. There was also a condom wrapper in the ashtray by the elevator. It was close to Bell Blvd, if thats what you're looking for, but it wasn't exactly the W Hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not coming back."
The Decor is very old-looking, but the room itself is neat. The bathroom is very, very, small. Our shower flooded the bathroom floor. The breakfast was very dissapointing. There were no bowls for cereal, and the coffee was not good. The trash was overflowing and the employee just used a paper plate to smoosh it down.
