Vagabond Inn Palm Springs - Palm Springs

Second time staying here and for the price it's hard to beat. Very short drive to downtown. Front desk clerk very friendly and helpful. Parking is great, room is smallish but clean and quiet. It's my "go to place" whenever I'm in town.

We stayed at the Vagabond Inn during our recent trip to the Cochella Valley for the Stagecoach festival. Hotels near Indio were ridiculously overpriced. This place was a very nice surprise. It does have good reviews so we were expecting a decent place, but it was actually better than just decent. The pool area was really nice - way too many kids (like 15 at one time) in the pool, but that's not the hotel's fault. Our room was nice, and very clean. Hotel has an old-fashioned key system. During my stay, the big metal key slipped somewhere into my very full car trunk or back seat. I looked everywhere. Couldn't find it. At check-out, hotel charged me $20 for lost key, which I found two days later after unpacking. Hotel would not refund fee even after I brought key back. We stopped on our way to scottsdale AZ and it was a good stop. Bed was comfortable....the breakfast was adequate....wished they had some oatmeal or other cereal... They had bagels, toast, hot waffles and hard boiled eggs. Coffee and juice was good. Hotel is near downtown Palm Springs....but not an easy walk...

Hotel did not display what the pictures posted on Web site. The building is old, really needs up grades. Keys were used instead of key cards. our toilet Stop working. Not all the rooms have wireless access and given the below average cell phone reception that close to the hills (Sprint & ATT), it was a major inconvenience. Hotel is very basic. It was clean but comfort level was not very high. Pool was very clean and nice for a morning swim. Nice outdoor breakfast area next to the pool. Receptionist was professional, other service staff did their job. Breakfast was mainly cheap quality (variety offered: bagels with different flavors, white and whole wheat bread, cold boiled […] eggs, two types of kelloggs cereal, waffles, OJ, cranberry juice, coffee). It's an affordable place to stay if you want a base in Palm Springs but aren't looking for anything fancy. I was on a trip with my fiance, but it seemed much more suitable for families with children. The pool was nice with a lot of seating (bring your own beach towels from home). The included breakfast was pretty decent and was served in the "coffee […] shop" next to the pool. It has both indoor and outdoor seating in the shade, and was very pleasant. The location was good: only a quick drive to the downtown area, yet still near restaurants and grocery stores. The service was about what you would expect from a 2-star hotel, so don't expect much more than help at check in and out. The wireless internet is pretty much nonexistent, and they only tell you the password if you call and ask (as opposed to at check-in). And calling the front desk for anything is pretty much a waste of time as they NEVER answer the phones during the day. But all in all, I would stay here again and recommend this place to others. I have gone to VAGABOND, Palm Springs, every year at least once since I moved to California 8h late 1999. It is clean and convenient to the downtown restaurants and shops, yet it is at the quiet of PS with beautiful view of the mountains nearby. The Swimming Pool and Cafe is convenient and restful!

Very frustrating. No internet signal or too weak to use. The clerk told me to use Best Western's signal and gave me their password. I looked at reviews for Vagabond and they have known about this problem for some time and choose not to repair it. Time for new management.

Clean room. Mattress was great, but pillows were awful. Property is older, but rooms and grounds were very, very clean. Nice pool. Parking is tight. Located about a mile from downtown, so you can't miss with the price.

If you plan to use the interne, do not allow them to put you in the back, using the Best Western internet connection. It does not work, and if you complain, they tell you it's "complimentary", so you have no right to expect it to work!

The Vagabond Inn met our needs; we didn't expect luxury. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was not gourmet, but there was plenty of variety for most people. The pool was not designed for lap swimming, but you can get good exercise. It is next to a private botanical garden devoted to desert plants.
