I'm not going to lie, the room looked like it was fresh out of 1988 (exposed brick, a recliner that looks like the one your dad used to have, etc). But for the price, not a bad place at all. Easy to get to from the highway, not too far from campus and free breakfast in the morning. If you don't plan on spending much time in your hotel room, definitely a solid value pick.

We stayed here because we went to a night game for UT. The hotel is alittle difficult to get to but otherwise is right under the interstate. The staff was friendly but the room was extremely tiny! If you have more than two people in your party, forget about it! But we only slept in the room for a few hours so it wasn't a major deal.

the room was cozy and fine, the staff was helpful but we only knew that because something needed fixing in the room - the big pluses were cleanliness and comfy beds, the big minuses were finding the hotel and the fact that even though breakfast sounded promising, the items on it were not re-filled appropriately, i.e. if you missed the three bananas that served as fruit items at 6:30, there were no others coming even though breakfast was offered until 10 am

When looking for a place to stay in Austin, I checked two things: prices & other's reviews. This place did have a good price, though the reviews were misleading. Most people gave a positive review, but I was disappointed in many aspects. The rooms were tiny (I stayed in a double), I couldn't get the front desk to answer the phone on multiple occasions, and on a rainy day the elevator smelled so badly it was almost unbearable! I would have gladly spent a little extra on a nicer room had i known what to expect. One more thing, the rooms DO NOT look like the pictures online, though the lobby and breakfast were nice.

I liked this hotel. It was located on a descent side of town, it was clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The room was very nice and the hotel was in good condition. Not "motel-ish" at all. The gentelman at the desk called my room to make sure everything was satisfactory shortly after I got into my room. Great place to stay without spending a lot of money. I recommend it.

I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel, It was what would be expected of a 2.5 star hotel. The elevator took forever everyday. The hotel service was excellent though very helpful and friendly. The room was clean, however the lighting was so poor in the room it was hard to even read a book in the dim light. A couple times the room service bypassed our room for cleaning although the Do Not Disturb Sign was not on. The water pressure in the shower was great, except it was hard to determine hot from cold and by the time you put it on hot, it was scalding! The breakfast was definitely a plus, however I wish there was water available. Overall the hotel met my expectations, just a couple miles shy from Downtown Austin and that was great for those short taxi cab rides to and from the heart of the city.

I read several good reviews and was looking forward to my stay in Austin at the Ramada. It was hard to get to(even with GPS). The neigborhood was scary. They keep the doors locked at night to the entrance to the hotel. The room was disgusting. Dirt was everywhere. The alarm clock didn't work, and the hot water ran out 5 minutes into my shower. I was so mad I forgot about the free breakfast. I just wanted out.

Convenient location, easy to get on and off of I35. We used the hotel for our family stay during recent UT graduation. No complaints for any of the 6 rooms we stayed in. The free breakfasts were great (eggs, waffles, fruit, etc...), free WIFI and free parking. Met my "big three." We also rented a meeting room for a celebration dinner which was catered by a local BBQ joint. The hotel had everything set up as requested. No complaints.

out of value="5""Queen vs. King room"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 2, 2008
I had a king room on my last stay, and a queen on this stay, and I think the difference between the two points to a challenge this hotel has in terms of accommodations in that they don't really make much sense and guests have to weigh this in their decision. The king room is obviously much bigger in terms of room size. Plus they have a microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator. However, they accommodate the size of the room by taking it away from the bathroom - to call it cramped is being generous. The queen room on the other hand, is smaller, has no amenities save the coffee maker, but counter intuitively has an enormous bathroom, that seemed in every way to formerly have been a handicapped bathroom - this frankly makes no sense, but I suppose it has something to do with a remodel done at some point, because if someone designed it like this, it's not very smart. In any event I enjoyed staying there, it's comfortable enough, but they really should figure out a way to fix the bathroom issue - if you pay for a king room for the comfort it makes little sense to be crammed into a bathroom that is smaller than the 1/2 bath in most homes.
