We were not aware the hotel was under construction prior to our arrival. I have stayed in other hotel where it was under construction but nothing to this extent. They should NOT be open right now! There is absolutely NO lobby area, just a check in desk. The pool & workout facilities were unavailable due to construction. We were on the 2nd floor & although […] the rooms were clean, still smelled of paint or stain with tape on the doors to designate room numbers. There was also lumber throughout the 1st level. They were supposed to have a continental breakfast but due to lack of space only set out bagels and muffins in a small room. Worst experience I have ever had. Went to bed with a headache & woke up with one, probably due to the fumes. Read more

This hotel was remodeling during my stay...There were furnitures all over the hallway. The room was nice with new furnitures, but what surprise me was the toilet was not cleaned! I can't discribe how disgussed I feel. I didn't get shampoo in my room, so my bf had to go to the front desk to get one. I believe after the construction, it will be a good […] hotel. Very unsatisfied - room and bathroom were extremely unclean. The hot tub was colder than the regular pool.

The pool was dirty and the hot tub did not work. Our room was freshly painted and clean. The bathroom had peeling wallpaper. The breakfast in the morning was fair. For the price, the room was decent. I wouldn't stay again due to the cleanliness of public areas and pool.

Unfortunately they were doing updates on the hotel at the time of our stay so we didn't have the best experience. The staff and continental b-fast were fine, but they should have taken better care to block off contstruction areas, remove ladders that were in the stairwell, alert guests to sheetrock dust etc. Hopefully after their remodel it'll be f […] ine. THIS HOTEL WAS DISGUSTING. WE WENT TO STAY THE NIGHT OF AN IOWA BASKETBALL GAME. THERE WERE HARDLY ANY OTHER GUESTS AND THEY PUT US 2 DOORS AWAY FROM A MASSIVE COBSTRUCTION PROJECT. ROOM SMELLED AND THE DESK SERVICE SUCKED. WE WERE LEAVING WHILE THE MANAGER/OWNER WAS BEHIND THE COUNTER ON A SATURDAY IN STREET CLOTHES WAS TALKING TO THE OTHER WORKER. […] THEY DIDNT EVEN SAY ANYTHING AS WE WALKED OIT WITH OUR BAGS. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was the usual hotel breakfast fare. Front desk person was in charge of restocking the breakfast area, this was a problem. The warm food ran out, we had to track her down as she had to leave the desk to help a guest. She brought more sausages and biscuit out […] but it was cold. This I feel was a fault of the management for not having someone for just the breakfast area. Other wise the stay was good. Read more

My family with two younger children stayed at this hotel for two nights on a pleasure trip. The pro's: walking distance to multiple restaurants, warm pool, friendly staff who went so far as to recommend a local hair dresser and store some items in their hotel refrigerator, clean rooms that were comfortable, ample breakfast provided - including waffles, […] microwaveable sausages and eggs, fruit, yogurt, cereal, bakery items, and milk and juices. Cons: location is up and coming with construction currently going on around that area, views from rooms/pool were either industrial (some sort of a plant was behind the hotel) or urban, building is in good condition but is no longer "new" - looks to be about 10 years old, location is incorrect on google maps so a little driving around required - just took us about 3 minutes to figure out, noise from halls ways filters into rooms - but over all was quiet so not a problem. As a note to people visiting the University of Iowa/or hospital - it's .5 -4 miles depending on where on the campus you are headed. MacBride Lake State Park and Palisades-Kepler are about 20 - 30 minutes, Amana Colonies is about 25 minutes, Coralridge Shopping mall is about 2 miles (nice mall with ice skating, children's museum, movie theater, and a variety of shopping). Overall: Pleasant stay with small town friendly staff, would stay again. Read more

Clean and well managed hotel, good place to stay in Iowa City. Bathroom was on small side, compared to Hampton Inns, where we normally stay on cross country trips. I forgot my travel kit and hotel staff provided everything I needed.
