This was a great little secret. Lovely architecture and nice remodel. The room was very comfortable, clean, and well cared for (i.e. no mildew, dusty shelves, scuffs on furniture, dirty curtains, or anything like that.) Amenities were in very good condition (iron, safe, hair dryer). Only stayed one night. Arrived very late and left very early, so didn't get a chance to really look around inside and outside much. Also, wasn't able to have their included breakfast which starts at 8 AM. Stayed with my mom who really liked the hotel too. Would stay again with the rest of the family if we ever had to come back to San Jose and be near the airport.

"peaceful and practical location ."
Recently renovated and they did a nice job of it maintaining the charm of the older style with modern amenities. The lobby is stunning.

"Great business location!"
Nice, clean hotel and very accommodating staff. My only real complaint is that the fan/cooler in the room is very LOUD! I tried opening the window since it was cool outside, but the food smell from the restaurant below was overpowering. Otherwise, the service was wonderful and the room itself is quite nice.

"Great weekend away hotel"
We stayed the night for a comedy show. Great location to everything. The hotel staff was exceptional. The bed was very comfortable. Room and bathroom were very clean. Only issue was walls are thin. Would definitely stay again.

"perfect for Jazz Fest"
We were half a block from the Jazz Fest so it was very easy getting there and back. Also many great eateries within wallking distance. The hotel itself was very beautifuly decorated in kind of an art deco style.

"Decent"
The parking situation is pretty bad and the hotel does not have a lot you can park in but it does have valet service ($34). I didn't see anyone helping with luggage or with the door. The room is pretty clean, no complaints.

"Overall good stay"
Only one of two elevators working which was inconvenient for guests. We didn't know this hotel was bough by the Westin. Caused some confusion for me as I was looking for the St. Claire. But every sign had Westin. Would have been nice if Hotels.com notified us of this. IL Fornaio restaurant was empty when we went for breakfast and our waiter would disappear in the back. We had to ask other restaurant staff for coffee refills, cream, and the the bill. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and staff. Especially front desk staff were very helpful.

"Convenient for SAP center concerts."
The staff were wonderful at this hotel. All but one were cheerful, helpful and pleasant. The facility itself is in need of a makeover, but was clean. They could do with some thicker walls, as we were treated to an x rated audio show from our neighbors twice in one night. Thankfully, we had no kids with us but it did sound like they were right in the room with us. The location is walking distance to the SAP center (about 20 minute walk) and the route is well lit and well trafficked. Room service is a little steep, but the food was ok. The lack of a bar was disappointing but Joes restaurant and bar is next door, so that worked out well. Overall, this was a pleasant stay, not exactly luxurious, but about right for the price. (We got a special deal)

"Average for a Westin"
09/01/15 GRLTRAV Charlotte, North Carolina
Finally, a Westin property in San Jose! There aren't a lot of luxury hotels to choose from in this city (exception The Fairmont), so I was pleased to learn that the Westin had taken over The Saint Claire hotel. While the rooms are small, the upgrades are what you'd expect of a Westin property. As this is a historic hotel, you will miss the grand Westin lobby, a choice of restaurants, fast, efficient elevators, and a large front desk for check in. The majority of staff are previous employees who had come over with the acquisition, so I believe given time, they will learn the "Westin way". The big issue with this property is parking. You have a choice of valet (for $34 + optional tip) or you can self park (overnight fees vary as the nearby lots are not owned by Westin). I chose to valet for convenience, but each morning, after calling 20 minutes in advance, the car was not available. SJ is tough to find a decent hotel, so this is at par with the rest.

"Location is great. Valet parking is not. "
08/23/15 Tiffany T
Valet parking is inconvenient with limited room out front of hotel. Also, to add to this the valet service man was very much involved in his conversation with another employee instead of being attentive. Finally we just squeezed in (partly still in the street) and got out of our car, tired of waiting. Valet offered zero help with our bags. The check in experience went smoothly with a kind receptionist who worked quickly to get us to our 6th floor deluxe suite. Upon entering the suite, it is smaller than expected but has ample size luxury bathroom. The stone tiled step-in shower with glass doors and rainfall shower head was beautiful and relaxing. Worth the upgraded room for this alone. Although small bedroom, the king size bed was plush and extremely comfortable. Views from room were of the street below. Nothing spectacular. A downside to this suite is that it is located fairly close, almost directly across from the elevator which makes for some noisy groups entering and exiting the floor. As for the overall amenities, I would say they are standard, with room service only running to 11 PM. Overall, a nice place for overnight stays and convenient to downtown restaurants and entertainment.

"Nicely refurbished, excellent location"
08/22/15 mike h Fort Worth, Texas
Stayed one night prior to flying early out of SJC. Hotel is a refurbished building from the 1920's. I felt that the character of the property was retained while also being modernized. This means smaller rooms, but mine was comfortable and immaculate. I did cut my foot on an exposed carpet tack as the carpet is only a month old. I did not report it, but did ruin one of their towels (sorry). Check in was quick and friendly and room service was equally efficient. Rate was very good for the area, but that is probably because they are "new" and that will change as they establish themselves. Would stay again.

"A City Hotel. Nice But NOT New"
08/20/15 RobinGDayton Columbus, Ohio
When I read all over that it was a Brand New Westin which had just opened, I was pretty disappointed to find out that it is a refurbished hotel and not a new hotel In fact, the hotel is 20 years old and previously a Hyatt and other independent hotels. There is no pool and parking is $35 daily. Everyone has been very nice and accommodating. If you are in San Jose on business, it would probably be ok. We are just staying before a flight in the morning but I am still disappointed when Westin misrepresents New vs. Updated.

"Amazing place for a conference"

Amazing and beautiful. I was totally in love with the architecture and with the interior design. The mirrored hallway was cool and the restaurant had the best breakfast ever. The beds were so comfy. The location was perfect because you could easily walk to the Tech Museum and the San Jose Museum of Art. There was also a really cool indoors rock wall place on the next street over.

Great experience here. Loved the staff, they are well informed, polite and go out of their way to make the stay comfortable. Also, location wise, they couldn't have picked a better place. Surrounded by a lot if great dinning places like Pho 69. Night life and live music and arts. Will definitely come again!

"Good hotel"
07/30/15 Lucy L Colorado Springs, Colorado
Stayed at the Sainte Claire now the Weston for business. The hotel staff is excellent. Really attentive and seek to assist you with anything you may need. The hotel has the old style class and charm and it's right downtown and within walking distance to everything. They do not have a pool which was a little disappointing and the elevators are really slow which I'm sure Re due to age. Overall a good hotel.

"Beautiful hotel, did a great job in conversion to Westin"
07/20/15 Michael F New York, New York, United States
Really nice property. We stayed just a few days after their conversion to a Westin. Overall, one of the nicer ones we have been to. Staff went out if its way to make the stay a personalized one. Rooms aren't big, but coming from New York I expect that in a core city hotel location. One thing that is less than ideal is the valet parking: $34/night as of July 2015 and forced. There is no parking lot on-site. They have a SMS system to retrieve your car, but dropping your car off can be slow.

"Beautiful Hotel with great location"
07/18/15 khlaw04 San Diego, California
I stayed here for a business trip and found it to be great for what I needed. The rooms are small but clean and recently redone. The hotel gym is big and has good equipment. The restaurant in the hotel has great breakfast but a bit pricey. Parking is valet only but I parked across the street and saved $7. There was some construction directly in front of the hotel so it was tough to see the valet anyway. I'd stay here again.
