"Nice budget hotel on Collins"
Basic hotel, best thing is it's location on CollinsGenuine Expedia guest review
After staying at "comparable" hotels in South Beach. The Dorchester was a great surprise. Clean, modern, well maintained, and a friendly helpful staff. I will definitely return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not bad for the price."
The Hotel is in a great location. Not far from shops and restaurants but a bit more quiet. Our room was located towards the back of the hotel and it was very quiet there. The room itself was nice, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed the balcony. We had an issue with the air conditioning. The first night it did not work at all and the room was very hot. […] They "fixed" it but we really could not control the temperature. If the air was on, it was on full blast and freezing. If it was off it was really hot. No in between. The pool was ok. It was not heated, or at least it didn't feel that way. We had a couple of very breezy days and it was too cold to go in. It also did not get much sunlight. The staff and front desk were very friendly and accommodating. It was nice to have the option to go to beach and have the free chairs and umbrella. I do not recommend the breakfast buffet. There are plenty of places to eat. Overall it was a decent experience for the money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I was scared because I have purchased hotels on Expedia before in South Beach and twice was utterly dissappointed, in one instance even disgusted so I was weary. When we got to the lobby I knew that it was going to be ok this time. I was pleasently surprised when we reached out room and it was BEAUTIFUL! It was newly renovated and that was a RELIEF! […] The staff was so great, especially Jovani and Cynthia at the front desk. Even the sister hotel Marseilles, the wait staff Sergio and Roman, were very pleasant and accomodating. Jovani even upgraded our room when he realized that we had two children with us just so that we wouldn't be close to the noisyness of the street and partygoers. He didn't have to do that but he did, and that made my husband and I smile. Not a lot of places in South Beach are "family friendly" and I've learned that the hard way, but the Dorchester surely made us say "We will definently come back!" Maybe to the Dorchester Suites this time. Totally Satisfied!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"NOT worth price...better hotels on strip !"
I have stayed at numerous hotels in south beach...as far as location goes, it is good - however I have stayed in better ones for the same price. This place is broken down on the interior, the doors are moldy, sheets dont seem clean, beds are from 1969....and staff were not really that nice either.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We will love to stay next time. Neighborhood were very loud..otherwise, No problem. Thanks. S.NagiGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel for a family"
The excellent customer service override any litlle thing one can find in any hotel. This hotel is excellent for families, is quiet, comfortable, spacious, and most of all is clean, very clean! The resort fees includes an umbrella with two chair lounges at the beach..the hotel is situated perfectly, to a walking distance to Lincoln Rd, Spaniola Ave, […] etc. and its surroindings includes Ritz Carlton, The Palm etc. Also there are very unexpensive restaurants around like Sbarro's with its delicious cheap italian cuisine, pharmacies, convenient stores, etc.. Since it is located in Collins Ave try to ask for a room not facing it because it could be noisy for light sleepers. We stayed in the suites which are perfect for a couple with children and they are situated in the back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fair distance from the bars"
Hotel was very nice, very clean, room was a fair size and it's 1 block from lincon road where lots of little shops and done restaurants are.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms are extremely nice and the beds are comfortable and well taken care of. The hotel could of course use some work on the outside (as could any south beach hotel). But the staff was very kind and pleasing! The beach towels could have been better but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. A revamp to the bathroom would be nice!Genuine Expedia guest review
This was a really nice hotel. I was skeptical at first from reading some of the reviews. But overall it was great. My boyfriend and I got there early, since we had just got off a cruise, and the lady at the front desk let us check in early without any problems. She was very sweet and helpful. The staff we came across were really nice. The room we had […] was pretty big and comfortable. The pool was great. I would definitely go back next time I head to South Beach. "Horrible front desk crew"
The Hotels.com website listed this hotel as having rooms. We took a cab from Miami Airport ($35). Upon arrival, the front desk girl tells us they are full. I show her my phone with the Hotels.com showing a room for sale. She says they only have suits and all other rooms are sold. I ask her if she will sell me the room. She said the price would be more […] than double what was listed on Hotels.com iphone application. I ask for a manager. None on duty. Girl suggests I book with their sister hotel. Still close to double the price. I finally just take a risk and book the room listed on Hotels.com I was sitting in the lobby of Dorchester when booking this. I then walk over to her and say, "Okay, I have a room". She looks at me and then shrugs. She finally books me in to a "junior suite". WOW! The room was a dump. If it was any other place than South Beach you would have thought it was a dorm room in a frat house. Very poor service. By the way...this was 10pm on a Friday night. She should have apologized and offered me the open room for the same price as the room listed on the Hotels.com app. I might have been willing to pay a little extra for the "junior suite" (before seeing it of course), if she just sold me the room from the start. Tired travelers aren't looking to be hassled by front desk clerks. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed one night before and after a cruise. When we arrived in the morning after our cruise Rosa was extremely accommodating and found an available room instead of having to wait for normal check in. She suggested a tour we could take of the area that was incredible. The rooms for both stays were very clean and nicely decorated. The pool and outdoor […] garden patio area were very serene even on a busy street. There is a small bar area and restaurant on site.We did not go to the bar. The restaurant was fairly pricey but no different than others in the area. The food was good, the portions generous and our server Mark was wonderful. The location is prime for the South Beach area, all shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The entire hotel is a very appealing art deco design. Although the hotel is across the street from the ocean there is beach access through another hotel. You are provided with a towel and beach chair each and one umbrella per room. The entire staff was very courteous and friendly. We enjoyed our stay completely. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"This place sucks!"
The room was hot, the towels where old and felt like paper. Same goes for the wash clothes. The lighting was bad and the beds felt like cardboard!Genuine Expedia guest review
I stayed at the Dorchester hotel this past saturday night to Sunday. I have to say that over all we were very satisfied. Just a few things that could've given it a solid 5 stars: 1) given the fact that the hotel is faily small, there is only one elevator. So we had to use the stairs failry often. No big deal since our room was on the second floor. But […] stairs had a funky smell, like wet dog smell, sort of when a dog is bathed and left to air dry. 2) parking situation was horrible, on top of the fact that apparently you had to rent your parking spot early, the parking are itself was very small. One of the valets recomended i parked valet across the street. I didnt know he took my car across the street to another hotel's valet parking. It also took 20 minutes to retrieve my car on sunday! Horrible. Other than that the hotel stay itself was amazing, we had so much fun at the bar we didn't have to actually go out anywhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Awesome awesome value for beach goers"
Me and my brother went for radio one fest jul5th-jul9th and we got there very early, the front desk was very helpful they locked our bags up and assured use our room would be ready in a hr and it was. Rm 101 was absolutely perfect for to single vacationers we where directly in front and could see everyone walking down Collins ave, it's across from beach […] less than 5min walk they give u towels and chairs everyday of your visit, they clean room and leave it smelling great every day of visit, the bar has a happy hr from 7-8 which is perfect because we meet many ppl at hotel and where able to drink and convo with out busting the bank. nice pool especially at night compare to other Rooms I seen on south beach, great great Great quality for price will definitely stay here next time it left me with lots of extra cash to enjoy more. Breakfast is okay I'm a chef so I'm picky omelet was nice though. Also room had free wifi but it kicks you out to often. Hotel is suitable for All! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not happy at all"
I had so many problems with the room. First, the tiolet wouldn't flush. It took maintenance a few hours to come and finally fix it.. Next, the air wasnt working. I called maintenance and they said it was nothing wrong with it and to give it awhile to circulate. After spending the night in a hot room they finally came the next evening and put in a new […] air conditioner. Then, the shower wouldnt get hot. It was so many complications with this room. The pool was filthy. The smell of marijuana was all throughout the hallways. I asked the hotel clerk if we could be moved and she said no. This was my first and last time at The Dorchester. Construction ongoing right outside our room Elevator not working. Knob in shower fell off. Very noisy. Front desk staff not helpful when asked a question. I forgot a comb and front desk did not have any but couldn't think of anyplace to buy one. Not recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I took my granddaughter and her friend to Wrestlemania 2012. I chose the Dorchester because the reviews were good and it appeared to be in a good part of town for a grandmother and 2 14 year olds. The hotel was delightful and because we were only there for one night the hotel upgraded us to a suite. What a delight. The girls thought they were in heaven! […] I had previously warned them about bad neighborhoods, bed bugs, bad food, etc. The staff at the hotel could not have been friendlier, from the check in, to the bell hop to checking out. I would definitely recommend it and hope to return soon. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is within walking distance of Lincoln Road and across the street from the beach, so the location is great. The room is the bare minimum, but comfortable enough. The pool is big for a boutique hotel. We stayed during Ultra Music Festival and there was loud music until 3 a.m. every morning and louder people in the halls after that. There is […] also a $10 per day resort fee which includes 2 beach chairs and an umbrella at the beach down and across the street as well as gym access. No breakfast is included. The $10 also includes free happy hour from 7 to 8 p.m. but that was not offered during Ultra Music Festival. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great stay but a couple of complaints"
I have to say that I thought the staff at the Dorchester were some of the friendliest in South Beach. My only complaint would be that there is a man who lives in an apartment across the street from the hotel (directly across from our room) who is a complete pervert aned exposed himself to us on numerous occasions, pretty much everytime we opened our […] door. We yelled at him and he still continued. We also had a man passed out at the bottom of our stairs one night who was not a guest of the hotel. I would recommend that you ask for an interior room rather than one that faces the street (19th street). Otherwise, I thought the bar was very cute, breakfast was tasty and I really liked the pool. Overall i enjoyed my stay here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
For some reason when I checked in they "upgraded" me to a suite which was actually the handicapped room. the room is located next to the fitness center but far away from everything else in the hotel -- except for the pool which is just outside the door. the room was VERY basic and had I known what the room was like I probably would have declined the […] upgrade. For the money I spent this is by far the best hotel room I have had in twenty years. The room I had was a small apartment! At almost 500 sqft for the same cost as a room by the airport, it is a deal that cannot be beat in a great location. Book it today!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Value and Service!"
I am staying at the dorchester as I write this review. I really like this hotel. First of all the location is absolutely perfect. Close to everything. Not on the beach but you have access to their hotel across the street that is. We got upgraded to a Jr suite and really love it. There's a couple spots where the room could use a little tlc, but nothing […] I care about. After being in our room for 10 minutes the front desk called just to make sure the room was satisfactory, which was nice of them, and we told them we loved it. And the price. I don't think you could find a better value in south beach. If we come to south beach again we will stay here. :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Dorchester Hotel in Miami"
I stayed at the Dorchester Hotel for 5 nights in late February. The hotel room itself was pretty nice. I liked the fact that it had hardwood floors over carpets (I figure carpets are much grosser and wood can be cleaned better). The hotel room was clean, modern, and a reasonable size. The hallways of the hotel are a little dated and kind of have a musty […] odor, but there was no odor in the actual hotel room so I didn't really care. I never used the pool because I prefer the beach. The hotel comes with 2 free beach chairs and umbrella for each day you stay, which was a great deal. The Dorchester Hotel and the Marseilles Hotel (nearby) have some sort of agreement to use the lounge chairs on the beach for the Marseilles Hotel. The Marseilles is on the walk to the beach so we just stopped in and picked up towels there and then headed to the beach. The only complaint I have about the hotel room is the shower was a little dated, but not a big deal because I don't go barefoot in public showers anyhow. We did have a few minor issues (toilet clog and hairdryer broke), and the staff at the front desk was very helpful and responsive to correct the issues. The location was pretty good. It wouldve been nicer to be a little closer to the heart of the action on the Ocean Drive area but it was only a 10-15 min walk. You can also take the 25cent per person bus down (not sketchy at all. just tourists) to the southern portion of south beach and then walk your way back up and check things out. I would also recommend the Lincoln Mall area for dining/coffee/starbucks...This is an outdoor mall (basically a very wide street with lots of shops/restaurants/starbucks with lots of outdoor seating areas. It is much cleaner, newer, and less seedy than the rest of South Beach. I recommend The Front Porch Cafe for brunch (ate here 3 of 4 days- get the french toast, pancakes and omelettes), De Luca (Lincoln Mall area- Italian), Grillfish for some seafood (on 15th and Collins) and walk to Frieze Facto Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not a 3 star."
The hotel was a 2.5 star at best. The reason for this is the whole place was a bit run down. The bathroom was absolutely awful. The wall and floor tiles were cracked and broken in many places and poorly patched. the bathtub was cheap and sagged when we stood in it. The tub itself was a mess with dried plaster hardened on it and stained. At first I thought […] it had not been cleaned and quickly learned that the stains were permanent. Also, the toilet was not cleaned before we arrived. I had to wipe hair and ruin spots off of the seat. The room air conditioner was so loud we could not hear the TV. Also, the windows were very dirty and even though we did not have a good view, it would have been nice to be able to look outside. I feel that we paid a 3 star price for a hotel that should have cost a little less. Location and lobby were the best features. The pool was dingy and the chairs were not in good shape. I sat out by the pool in the morning and the chairs were never even straightened from the day before. Just a bit shabby and unkept. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A great convention location"
A classic Miami Beach art deco property. Clean and nice, rooms recently refurnished & painted but a little worn. TV channel selection weak and reception poor. Nice hot breakfast room and evening bar. Perfect location for conventioneers attending the Miami Beach Convention Center (which I was). Wif-fi was slow. Staff very friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Picked this hotel based on photos and reviews and I think it over-sold itself. Great location though, across the street from the Shore Club, Setai, The Raleigh, which is where I went for cocktails/dinner in the evenings. My (huge) room had old carpeting but it appeared that most others had hardwood. The staff were super friendly. The breakfast area […] looked sad and old and bleak. The pool was clean. Hey it's a place to rest your head, right? In the end it was overpriced though for what you got. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK, not great."
The hotel is not beachfront, but it's only a short walk. They offer lounge chairs and umbrellas from a beachfront hotel across the street...in fact they CHARGE you $10/day "resort fee" for the privilege of the chairs and WiFI, even if you don't use or need it. Not only that, the WiFi did not work half the time and the other half was painfully slow. Not […] much front desk staff... there is usually a wait, but they are pleasant. Room was stark, totally white walls and ceiling with hardly any decoration. Bathroom had a toilet, a sink, and a shower area - no vanity or counter! There is a mini-fridge, but not much room in it due to all the "for sale" snacks in there. Didn't look for an ice-maker. King bed was comfortable although one side had some sag. Our room faced Collins Avenue and it was very noisy with traffic until 5 AM Friday-Sunday. Turned up the air-conditioning up to drown it out. Breakfast available at the hotel which we did not try but looked tasty - not sure about price. There is a small bar which would be more in demand if the drinks were not $14 each! Bigger-than-South-Beach-normal style drink, but $14 is outrageous for a bar with no entertainment. The pool is clean but unattractive, max depth 5 feet. Outdoor lobby sitting area is pleasant but nothing special. Parking is packed and they have an attendant stacking up guests vehicles when it gets crowded. Price would be the main attraction to stay here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Quiet in South Beach"
I like this hotel as it's a bit removed from being directly on Collins Ave.- nice little courtyard sets it back a bit. My only complaint would be that the bathroom had permanent stains on the floor that made it seem a little dirty. Front desk staff were very nice. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great hotel on a budget"
Very nice hotel. rooms are clean and newly renovated. hotel fee included towel and the beach chair (ask at the front desk). "Dorchester Suites--great location"
The Dorchester has a beautiful courtyard and convenient bar downstairs. The rooms are comfortable and room service was great--fast and good. Beach access is very close, as are many great restaurants and shops. Hotel staff was very friendly. I would definitely stay again when in Miami.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Dorchester sits on Collins - not on the beach side - but no big deal. I couldn't get into the Loews, which was my destination. This was a good second choice. The room was clean and quite tidy. If there's a complaint, it's that the chair for the desk is uncomfortably small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
