"Great view of Portland"
Comfortable and easy access to TMAXGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I can't say enough nice things about the staff at the Red Lion at the convention center in Portland! everyone from the front desk to maintenance were friendly and helpful. the breakfast venue and lounge both had good food and great service! While the hallways were a bit worn, our room was neat , clean, and well cared for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was suprise to hear the hotel was going through a complete renevation when I found the hotel to be very well maintained. I felt the entire staff made it a point to be of service. The hotel's location accross from the convention center and light rail made it an excellent location for me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent stay, excellent staff, dated HVAC"
The staff and room were in excellent condition, however the HVAC in the building needs to be updated badly. There was BARELY any AC and we had to ask for a fan to be sent up (which the staff did very willingly and politely). It was just a surprise to be an this nice an accommodation and have something as vital as the temperature of the room be an i […] ssue. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convention Center Hotel"
The hotel was very conventently located to convention center and to the government offices where I was attending a seminar. However the hotel is in serious need of updating as the carpets look worn and the decore itself looks like it is from the 70's. The hallway to my room had a musty smell to is and the room was located on the same side as the transit […] system. The staff, however, made the improved the quailty of the stay as they were extremely helpful and accommodating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It's an older hotel but very nice. The ac/heating system is unique and is controlled by the hotel not the guest. The guests can only turn the fan on or off. The room was a little bit warm. It was a very hot week in portland. But the hotel does have fans available to borrow.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is very conveniently located for easy access to everythingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and price"
had a great location next to the convention center and across the street was a Starbucks. The hotel is small and a little older but well kept up, very clean, and friendly accomadating staff. I loved my stay there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Average hotel, close to MAX line"
Hotel is average, air conditioning doesn't work real well. Rooms are old, but alright. The best thing is for the money it is close to the MAX line so in 3 stops you can be downtown. MAX comes very often making it a convenient way to stay downtown without the "downtown" prices. Overnight parking is half the cost of the hotels downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to rail and convention center."
My only complaint was the air conditioning did not work very well in the room. I had it turned as cold as it could go, it should have been freezing but only was a bit cooler. The service was good, the breakfast service was fast. I asked for a wake up call which did not come, luckily I also set my alarm in case of human error. I would stay again, over […] all I was satisfied and comfortable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Met our needs for a low cost stop on a longer trip. With exception of one staff person all others very pleasant. Everyone has a bad day.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Service w/a smile"
The staff was friendly & willing to help me with what ever I called them for. I accidently ordered a movie & I called the front desk to tell them my error. They canceled my accidental order. I didnt get my poached eggs & within five minutes room service ran up with the eggs in hand. Thank you for such awesome service! I will be sure to stay with you […] again! "Close to public transportation"
Our stay went well. there was one minor glitch, but the hotel took care of it immediately.front desk was very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For a single night it served it's purpose. Thought being charged for parking was ridiculous, that should be included in the price of the room....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The hotel was very nice and close to concert."
We enjoyed the room and the bar. The hotel was located near many things to do. We attended a concert and loved not having to deal with traffic. The rooms were very nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A pleasant stay in Portland"
The hotel itself is a bit outdated and the rooms are a bit small, but overall it was in a great location close to transportation, staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and beds were comfortable. Bathroom should get some maintenance as far as caulking, but it was minor. Overall, a nice hotel and at a good price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Soft Bed - Great Skytop bar"
The beds were very soft, clean and comforting. The hotel is located real close to the Rose Garden arena, making it THE place to stay before a concert. A rooftop bar (with smoking area) provides a spectacular view of the Oregon Convention center at night! Would highly recommend eating at the restaurant in the hotel - the service at the Dennys across […] the street sucks. The prices for the quality/quantity of hotel food was well worth the price. "Downtown Red Lion during summer"
Too hot. The air conditioning could not keep upGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall it was a nice room. The shower caulking needed updated and the a/c was noisy but you get used to it. There weren't a lot of cable stations and the quality of some channels was so-so. The restaurant closes at ten a.m. Weekday mornings so you have to go to breakfast elsewhere but the room was clean and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a nice room. Not happy with the parking fees per night Didn't see that on website. I might of missed it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful room but a little noisy"
I stayed overnight after a 16 hour bike ride from Seattle. The room was lovely and I was exhausted. I can imagine if I wasn't so tired the noise from the tram station would have been a bit of a problem but otherwise things went smoothly. The cafe was great for breakfast and the midday checkout was awesome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tri-Max access is Excellent."
No exhaust fan in the bathroom, ice bucket is filthy inside, did not give enough soap, lotion to use. No coffee filter to use to make coffee and the tea tastes terrible. Electric fan is half working. The room temperature is unpredictabe.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice and clean, close to where I wanted to be."
This hotel is clean and comfortable. Nice staff. Close to everything I needed. Third time I've stayed here for both business and pleasure. I'll be back in Sept. for business .Genuine Expedia guest review
"Central location but very noisy"
Close to public transportation but had to pay for parking each day and no free breakfast. Very noisy and rooms couldhave been cleaner.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Functional basic hotel close to downtown"
I was expecting worst. The hotel is centrally located, with welcoming staff, clean rooms and affordable rates. We were two adults and two kids in a single room (two queen beds) and it was very cramped. Still, for a short stay in Portland it was fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was dated. The neighborhood was questionable at best. Hotel bar seemed like a banquet room we wandered into, rather then a nice place to relax. The service was poor and the outside deck was dirty. Housekeeping was very nice and helpful. The room smelled musky.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Large, comfortable rooms!"
Large, comfortable, clean rooms that are right across the street from Denny's and next to the Max train line into town. Parking costs a little too much, but it is safe and secure. I ran into the security person both on the 4th floor and in the garage. This is a good place to stay when visiting Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hot room, fan required"
no control over AC. Room reached 85 F in the afternoon sun. Ask for a fan at check-in.Genuine Expedia guest review

"The right place for the right part of town"
Overall our recent 2 night stay was pretty good. It's right next to light rail, walking distance to downtown(15-20min), or a quick bike ride across the old counterweight bridge a few blocks away. We had entertainment...50ft flames across the street burning a tree down at the light rail station and an excellent yelling/fist fight between a couple of […] drunk bums at 7am (all from our rooms view I might ad). No need to even leave our room! We also attended the baby boomer dance off in the Windows lounge one night, I think I got growled at by a 73 year old cougar! She was sad when my 31yr old girl showed up...turned and shuffled away. The room was cozy...a nice late 70's vintage room with popcorn ceiling and a window that opens so you can listen to the bum fights. The beds were amazingly comfortable...We slept in every day, possibly from the beds comfort or the booze the night before. One morning I woke and thought I had gotten in an accident the night before on my bike, but after checking myself for injury I realized that that it was just an old blood stain on the sheets...not even fresh (Whew)! In conclusion...This place has character and I approve! I'll stay there again for sure if not for the entertainment alone! If you want character with a nearly clean bed and great view stay here. Enough said. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We got the room for the specific purpose of staying at a place along the Max line so we could travel to and from the Waterfrong Blues Festival on the 4th of July. Mission accomplished and we had a comfortable room to rest in after a day in the sun.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Picture is deceiving"
The lobby and hallways really need a facelift. I was a bit shocked by their condition and went back to the images at hotels.com to compare. However, the room was clean and perfectly fine for one night. The staff was accommodating and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Red Lion Hotel Portland - Convention Center Thank you very much for providing helpful feedback regarding your stay. I am glad you enjoyed your room and that our staff treated you in a welcoming and gracious manner. I am sorry to hear that some of our public areas were misleading in comparison to our online photos. I travel a lot and booked the Red Lion in Portland near the Rose Gardens. This was the worst hotel I've stayed in. Our room was dirty and the bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned in months if ever. We couldn't control our heat or air in the room so it wasn't pleasant. Oh yes. Parking was impossible. The ony redeaming quality was the staff were very pleasant […] and professional. When I mentioned this to the manager he did substract our parking from the bill. But this wasn't enough. I am going to a show in Spokane in July and you can bet I didn't book Red Lion. Never again! The hotel was overall ok. We really enjoyed the breakfast. Good position, close to downtown. Easy to find parking in the street for 1$ per hour.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect Convention Hotel"
The hotel was a bit dated and the hallways / lobby were a bit dingy. But the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location was perfect for attending an event at the convention center. The rooftop restaurant was nifty, not super upscale, and the building isn't that tall, but it had a decent view of downtown over the convention center. I had […] breakfast in the restaurant off the lobby, and it was good diner style food. The neighborhood is convenient, but not terribly exciting, for that you'll want to go across the river into downtown Portland (just a couple of stops away on the max train). But the convention area has enough walkable places to grab a meal or coffee (a Denny's, Red Robin, Starbucks, etc), and the max train stop was within a block or so of the hotel (and the red line goes straight to the airport, which is nice). "Would not recommend for travelers"
The cleanliness of the hotel put a damper on the stay not to mention that they charge to park at the hotel. If you are looking to put business travelers up I would recommend another hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

hotel is clean and centrally located, but traffic noise is LOUD if you like to sleep with your window open, and hotel definitely looks and feelsw a bit run down.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Super hotel for a great value.. The hotel location is very convenient to where I work. It is also next to the Rose Garden for activities as well as the MAX Light Rail which can get you about anywhere you need to go form the airport to downtown!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would stay here again. The rooms are very comfortable. The bathroom shower surround needs to be replaced in room 510. Parking is $14.00 per day and there is not enough of it, so be prepared if you are a late arrival. The breakfast restaurant is great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for price and location."
Great stay, close to attractions, friendly staff. For a quiet room ask for it because half the hotel faces the tram very noisy. I was able to ck in before 3pm because there were rooms avail.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overall good, beware water pressure"
The room was pretty nice overall, especially considering the price. The beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly. The only caveat I may have about staying here again is the water pressure in the shower. At the coldest setting it was fine, but once it was pushed it towards the warmer settings, the pressure dropped immensely. Just barely able […] to shower in the mornings. Really, that was my only complaint. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
