"Nice sterile hotel"
Seems the windows aren't as sound proof as the walls. The couple next door had a wild session Sunday morning. Hope she can still walk.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the Convention Center"
Stayed 3 nights. The first night, the room was noisy so I requested to change room. The Front Desk girl at the time(can't remember her name) was very friendly and helpful. Changed my room to one that was closest to what I requested. The hotel is not first class, but the room I got was clean and decent for a place to take a shower and sleep.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place and great price!"
The rooms are super clean. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and we were in close proximity to downtown and able to walk to the Saturday Market.Genuine Expedia guest review
"close to convention center, easy access to airport"
The staff is outstanding, as usual. I was disappointed in the fact that one of the two elevators was out of order for the entire four nights of our stay. At one point, the remaining elevator was stuck, so my wife and I had to climb the stairs to the fifth floor! Also, due to the fact that the city's water supply was contaminated, it would have been […] a nice gesture to offer free bottled water to the guests. Otherwise, our stay was once again very pleasurable. Thank you. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Went for my daughters pageant, location was great the room was tiny especially for 2 beds, for me my sister and my daughter and son it seemed like we were pushing each other out of the way, said queen beds but they looked more like full size, service was great, out dated dirty tub, way over priced even on hotels.com but the bar on the top floor was […] beautiful and an amazing view, Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice people, bad elevator"
Conveniently located for us, very nice staff. Our room was clean and well priced. But...1 out of 2 elevators was out of service. In a 6 story hotel this was very inconvenient. And for most of the evening, we had to share it with an unfortunate hotel employee who was hauling a large bin up and down. We will make sure that this is fixed before we stay […] there again. "5 minutes to downtown"
We enjoyed the location just a few minutes from downtown theaters, the view from the 6th floor restaurant was very nice and so was our waitress plus we enjoyed the happay hour food, the room was comfortabe and the bed was cozy with nice white cotton sheets. We took our dog and the charge was reasonable for the pet fee per night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Thought there was a pool or hot tub."
Would not stay there again or recommend to anyone else!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable, clean, convenient"
We needed a hotel that accepted dogs as we were in town for a OHS fundraising event and travelling with our two dogs. This was one of two affordable close to down town and I chose it because it offered free WiFi. The staff at reception were courteous and friendly, but the housekeeping & maintenance staff seemed to act like when we needed to use the […] elevator at the same time as them that we were putting them out or in their way. The décor is a bit dated but it was overall clean and comfortable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"bad neighbors not dealt with"
Actually not a bad hotel as long as you are aware of the "clack clack" of the public tram running next to you. The staff are nice and friendly and the location is good, near Lloyd Center mall. However this was one of my worst experiences ever in a hotel stay. People next door came in late and giggly happy (no problem, typical) but the mood deteriorated […] in to a substance fueled rage that went on for an hour and a half. I called the front desk (2:01am) to complain but nothing seemed to be done about it. The hotel management should've done more (call the police and expel the maniacs). When I checked out, I complained to the manager and she refunded my $14 parking fee (woo hoo). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Max train was noisy (my room close to train). Room doors were very loud when they shut. Air conditioner/fan was very loud.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place for business trip"
I used this hotel during I was attending conference. I didn' t feel uncomfortable during the stay, and satisfied their service. Hotel staff was kind, and always smiling. One thing I had trouble was amenities were not enogh and I need to ask front desk to bring me extra. This hotel was eco-friendly, in some meaning ？Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Extremely old and outdated!"
I stayed there for about 45 minutes and I checked out and got a different hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was very friendly. My room was clean and comfortable and for the price it was a very good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Ok for short time. Restaurant a bit ordinary.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Looked nice online"
The pictures made the hotel look nicer than it actually is. It's a good deal, but I would have rather paid a little more for a nicer place. The pictures are misleading. This hotel is actually pretty out dated and not worth the $$. Get a room from somewhere else.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hallway carpet was gross, room carpet was gross, in all for a room over $100.00 a night I may as well stayed in a motel 6 honestly usually cleaner and better maintaines. On top of the high cost was charge for parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was clean and some of the staff was very friendly. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the cleaning staff started cleaning the rooms on our flood extremely early in the morning and woke us up. The hotel is in a very convenient spot if you are going to the Trailblazer games.Genuine Expedia guest review
Was in walking distance to the loyd center which was a very nice large mall, the tram was pretty loud but that's to be expected, no complaints about it. When finding someone smoking in hotel they took care of it upon us notifying them, all staff very friendly and polite. Restuarant is nice and has nice views, would stay again, depending on which part […] of town the next event we go to will be held. We were staying to see a band play and was in walking distance to the branx in the industrial district, drove because it was constantly raining. Everything at this hotel suited our needs. Not good as hotel will close 9/1/14 and they are running it into the ground. Air and heat system failing.Genuine Expedia guest review
The location of the hotel was awesome; just steps from MAX and bus stops. The staff were helpful and very accommodating. The hotel was clean and room was comfortable and adequate (nice to have a coffee pot and mini-fridge available). Just keep in mind it is an older hotel so it lacks convenience of additional outlets and personalized room temperature. […] Also the vanity is in the bathroom so of there are a couple people trying to get ready for the day it can be a bit cramped. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again in the future. "Weekend in Portland"
We stayed here to visit our son for the weekend, so we just needed a place to sleep. We were happy with our stay, the beds were the best!!! Soooo very comfortable....would like to get one just like them! Was surprised there was not a better option to control the climate in the rooms. Seems like the air conditioning and heating is controlled by the hotel […] and the only option we had was to either open a window or turn on a fan that was provided. Although we were comfortable enough. We had excellent service, in fact, I left something important in the frig after we checked out and called and they held for us to pick up later. Very good customer service! We could also hear the noise of the Max train just outside our room, didn't bother us, but some may not like the noise. All in all it was very nice stay and would stay there again in future. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It went okay."
The hotel itself is in a somewhat convenient location, and the rates were good. However, this hotel is definitely a "get what you pay for" location. Some of the light switches didn't work, the fan didn't turn on, and the hair dryer was broken. There were also carpet stains everywhere in the hotel, from the hallways, to the rooms themselves. All of […] that being said, my only real problem was the parking. Originally we stayed across the river to save some money, while planning on using a cab to get back and forth. Had it not been for the $14 a night parking, we would have saved some money - but the combination of cab fare and nightly parking quickly exceeded any nightly rate that we could have gotten in downtown portland. That being said, for two nights it wasn't bad. Had we stayed any longer it wouldn't have been worth it. If you're planning on staying for only a couple of nights it's a great cheap location, otherwise if you're planning on staying for more than a couple days definitely look around before booking. "Had to ask for a space heater"
The entire hotel is controlled by one HVAC system so the temperature is set at 55F in Fall/Winter/Spring. Had to keep the curtains closed as all the windows are the old single pane variety and comprise most of one of the walls in the room. The fridge froze everything that you put in it. The only positive thing I can say about the place is that the maids […] were great. Oh, by the way, it will cost you additional money each night for the pleasure of parking in the hotel parking lot, if you can find a space! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Just Another Business Trip"
I stay here when my schedule has me at the Convention Center early. The cost is low, so there isn't any anticipation of a 5 star facility. The place is like most Red Lion Hotels - in need of serious updates. I travel a lot so I see how different hotels look. This is an older building, but that doesn't mean the place needs to look like a 1990's hotel. Carpets […] need to be replaced, wall paper needs to be re-done and the bath tubs need refinishing. They also might hire better people that handle the repairs. Most of their finish work is sloppy. I can tell they don't use tape when caulking seams and they don't take the extra time to make sure it looks first class. If you watch Hotel Impossible you'll understand that just because the hotel isn't a 5 star hotel, doesn't mean it needs to be maintained like a 3 star place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel near downtown."
First the good part. The staff was very friendly and helpful in all respects. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was easy to regulate and the shower head provided a good comfortable stream of water. The biggest down side of this hotel was that it was only a block away from the electric trams that ran what seemed like all […] night. As they come down the hill and clank across the intersection they make a lot of noise, making it difficult to sleep. The hotel is also starting to look it's age and could use some updating. "Uh.... No heat??"
Comfy bed. Clean room. No heat?! Thermostat had some note about heat only being turned on during certain templates. It was very cold and the heat never came on. Room was provided with crummy little portable heater that DID NOTHING. But, dog friendly. I'm torn. Room and hotel was otherwise fine. Just... Y'know... Heat is nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst experience of my life."
We were up on and off all night due to the MAX, I feel the noise issue should have been brought to my attention upon check in with the option to try a different room and when I reached out to front desk with this feedback the lady was rude and told me it was part of Portland she can't help. I was furious and will NEVER STAY AT A RED LION AGAIN DUE TO […] THIS. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient to public transportation"
This hotel was very convenient to the MAX Light Rail, Portland's excellent public transportation system. It was also very convenient to the streetcars and buses. I had no troubles getting around the great city of Portland, Oregon (all four quadrants, NE, NW, SE, and SW). Bring your umby with you wherever you go. You will get to use it. All staff (housekeeping, […] front desk, maintenance and so forth) were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, kind and friendly. Fitness center was convenient and adequate, but a bit spare. Slept like a baby in a very comfortable bed. Hotel restaurant was convenient with wide variety of choices for breakfast. Wait Staff were first rate, i.e., effective, efficient, friendly and accommodating. When it was time to go to the airport, I just walked across the street with my luggage to the Light Rail, hopped on the Red Line and was at the airport terminal in about 25 minutes. Thanks for a pleasant and comfortable stay at the Red Lion Hotel, Portland - Convention Center. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel for the price"
WE got what we paid for and it was just fine. It's a little run down, and the hotel management can spruce it up a bit. I mean, coffee stains on the elevator doors are obvious and should be cleaned up pronto, wouldn't you think? "Small & Cold"
The rooms were small and cold. There was no independent thermostat control in the rooms, only a floor heater that was difficult to operate. We also changed rooms after the first night because of the outside noise caused by the light rail trains. While the staff was pleasant, and tried to be accommodating, the building limitations wre frustrating.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The hotel itself shows some wear, but was a good value.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Convenient, but loud"

"Pretty tired property"
Two things to keep in mind. One, I booked this hotel under what was called "Run of the House." I travel a fair amount yet had no idea what this meant nor could I find an explanation. Well, let me provide it for you here. It means that you can't book a specific type of room, you take what they give you. This meant that the 3 of us stayed in a room with […] one king bed. Wasn't too enthused to have to wait until I arrived and got this room and they couldn't change it. Second, the facility is old. The decor/furnishings are up-to-date well enough, but the rooms do not have individual AC units. Hotel rooms get stuffy, so when I got up during the night to turn on a fan, there was no fan to turn on, and there was only a small window pane that could be opened (no more than 2'x1'). Location was great, close to things we wanted to do (and very close to a Max station so it's easy to get almost anywhere in Portland), but these are things I'd have liked to have known before I arrived. The location was great. The Max was right there and it took us straight to downtown. The hotel is somewhat dated but the bed was extremely comfortable after being out all day and night. "Vert high parking fees compared to nearby hotels"
We came here because it was close to what we needed, pet friendly, and had a slight discount. However it ended up costing a lot more because they charged $14.99 to park at the hotel for GUEST!!!!! I already paid a lot of $ for the room and $15 to park is outrages especially when their spaces were tiny. The hotel across the street only charges $5 to […] park. in the end we spent more than the room would have orginally been. In the end I wouldn't return. The hotel is not in the best shape either. There was a bunch of cops in the lobby at 3am dealing with some issues as well. Thought I'd have a better expuerence but came out very disappointed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Not a 3 star hotel. Pretty frayed around the edges. Seen better days. Lots of homeless people hanging around out front. Must have gotten the 3 star rating because it has a bar and restaurant. Didn't try either. Would rather spend another $20 a night for better value.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Wouldn't want to stay here in the summer"
Location of hotel is good if you are attending an event at the Moda Center or Oregon Convention center and is conveniently located on the Max line. The rooms are fairly small but clean and beds are comfortable. All and all it is ok for a dated hotel in need of a remodel. My biggest gripe is there is no individual heat / ac in each room, it is a central […] system. If you are someone like me who tends to be warmer or colder then the average person you may not be comfortable. They do offer personal fans or space heaters on request. I would stay here again but only if there were no other options available in the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
