the stay was ok but no free parking provided by hotel and only valet. Checkin in located at the hotel in front... Also only one elevator worked and it took forever. Good location and view but not close walking distance to waikiki stripGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Got a great view of the city"
Got a really good deal on a King bedroom with kitchenette and a great view of the city. Was on the second to the top floor of the building, which made my first visit to Hawaii amazing. Registering for the room was a hassle though because you had to register at the hotel next door not at the actual Marina Tower. Parking was $20 a day for the garage, […] which is really good for the location and part of Waikiki that it is in. I will definitely be looking to stay here if I ever decide to get a hotel in Waikiki. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good in a pinch"
Much better choices out there. Rooms are old and run down. View isn't bad. Elevator was broken and remaining working elevator took 10 minutes usually to go up and down. Crowded because people also live in the condos. I would only recommend if you are sleeping there like I did. Location next to canals and Ala Moana is excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"I did not even check in"
Did not checking or stay. No one in reception doors locked with notice to checking on 2nd floor of adjoining property. Left standing on kerb with case until staff on break found me. I could not climb stairs to adjoining property with my case, and was not going to leave it . The staff said I did not have a booking and then after making a call said the […] would mind my case and I could come back. They were unable to find anyone to open door and safely take case. I was near tears by then and said I would not stay and would they get a taxi for me to the airport. Nothing went well from the beginning. This hotel is being ran by another staff. The employees at the Equus. It was a hard location to find. Was given a key to someone else room. Had a nice stay, staff very polite and helpful. Very expensive parking n were given a packing spot behind a pole. Kitchenette was not presentable, very old, faded dishes.Genuine Expedia guest review
We actually did not stay in this hotel. My husband had a stroke several years ago and he was unable to deal with the elevator on the outside of the building going up to the 32 floor where our room was. We had a fantastic view once we got up there, but requested to move to the Equus Hotel next door where the elevator was inside the building and the room […] was not so high. We had a great experience there. The Equus is owned by the same company and the staff was amazing. We stayed three weeks and enjoyed every day. We had a balcony that we enjoyed each day, fresh towels, etc. and friendly, helpful staff. The location was within walking distance for us to everything we wanted to reach and we spent quite a bit of time at the Ala Moana Park and Beach. We would recommend it to anyone with a schedule like ours. It is NOT on the beach, so if you are looking for a beach outside your hotel, this is not the one. If you like to walk, take the bus anywhere on the Island, explore like a tourist, and visit all the sites, this is a great place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I would have to say for someone who is from fancy Las Vegas and has never been to Hawaii this was a perfect getaway! I read some of the bad reviews which I never saw any of those issues. View from our room was exceptional. The furnishing a bit old but in good condition made for a comfortable stay. "Confusing Check-In & Questionable Security"
The room itself was nice, and the view was lovely. However, the building quality, security (a fob was provided; but the front door was propped open), construction out front, and check-in process were all questionable. Check-in is not at the Tower location, and no special directions about this were provided before arrival. It might help everyone if directions […] about this process were supplied ahead of time. Check-in is upstairs (no elevator access; must leave luggage downstairs) at another location. Also, while most everything in the room appeared new, there were stains on the comforter (which I did not see until the morning, due to the way it was folded)...the bed and pillows were hard and uncomfortable. This was a pretty crappy hotel. I knew that it wasn't going to be the most beautiful hotel I had ever seen but this was way below my expectations. First this hotel is actually called equinos.... so i drove around looking for this place fir 20 mins when i finally called and was told it had a different name. Second, it was grungy and I wasn't very comfortable […] touching anything in the room. Thankfully I was only there for 1 night. FYI if you wanna park at the hotel they charge 20 bucks a day! Also, they say they have WiFi but they really don't. The only WiFi is in the lobby and the rooms have hard lines u can connect to. This was a disappointment for me because I need wifi to talk to my boyfriend who is stationed overseas... Needless to say if u just need a crashpad in the area for a night it works but I would have rather forked out 50 more bucks for the night just to feel comfortable... "You barely get what you pay for."
1700 Ala Moana Blvd is the address for two facilities..Equis Hotel and Waikiki Towers. We had a hard time finding the "hotel" listed on our Expedia print out. We called the number for our "hotel" and the # was inactive. The information operator had no listing for the Waikiki Towers. Our GPS was telling us we had arrived at our destination and we did […] not have the other name for the hotel. We called Expedia and they were trying to connect us when we finally found it. There were some people at the desk who were complaining about their rooms and we were just happy at that point that we found a place to stay. We should have made other arrangements when we got to our room.. How bad could it be? 22 floors up with only one elevator working 38 stories in the CONDO, not HOTEL. The bed was no where near a king size bed. Super small parking spaces in the garage. Once you parked, good luck getting in and out of the car. The room old, smelly and small. Only a roof over your head if you just sleep there in the tiny bed. Tons of condo rules posted all over the common walls. The door greeter/ security guy was nice. "Nice clean hotel friendly staff"
We stayed here for 7 nights and loved it. The rooms are not the flashest BUT was very clean and comfy. Hotel decor is hawaiian style (cane furniture) but Majority of the hotels there have the same decor. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. My sister and i felt very safe staying here. They have security on the front door and protolling […] the hotel at night which was good. And a host/hostess on front door during the day. We arrived at hotel at 9am and was told checkin wasnt until 2pm but our room was ready for us so they let us check-in early. Tour desk was very helpful in helping us decide what tours to do and booking them for us as well as giving some suggestions on where to eat and go thats not very touristy. Our room was cleaned daily and cleaning staff were very friendly as we found most hawaiians. Hotel is a good 15-20min walk to the main area of waikii beach but the pink line trolley buses pick up just 100m from hotel and take you to centre of waikii for just $2. We found location really good as it was just out of the main tourist centre and the hustle and bustle but still close enough to everything. The hotel also has free wi-fi. Checking into the hotel is done at the hotel next door to it called The Exuus, there was a sign telling us that and also a lady hotess at the front security desk who informed of where to go. All in all i would definielty stay here again and reccommend it to my friends and family. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Worn Out Hotel"
Stay was very disappointing. Pulled in to check-in and was told I had to leave the lot of the hotel and park next door at the main hotel, which meant I had to once again circle a large block area in Waikiki. When I pulled into the "correct" parking area, I was told I could have just parked next door for the check-in. Room was SO worn I couldn't believe […] it. I paid a rate that was commensurate to the Hawaiian Prince I had stayed at the week before, so was shocked. Drapes looked like they hadn't been cleaned EVER, lamp shades were broken, clock didn't work, no soap, no conditioner, wash cloth had yellow droplets on them (I don't even want to think about what that was about), and I could go on. Was guaranteed a King bed by Expedia, but got two singles. Room was so shabby I didn't dare turn on the air conditioner for fear of the dust, so had to keep my window open all night which was not very cooling in Hawaii. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Arrived at the hotel to check in at about 4pm, it was initially a bit hard to find. I got a shuttle bus from the airport, the driver was very experienced and knowlegable. Dropped everyone off promptly and correctly, but I was dropped at the wrong hotel. As I did not have a map at the time I asked several people on the street and even other hotel consierges […] who had never heard of the hotel. When I finally found it there was nobody at reception, or the front door. Matter of fact I dont think there was a reception. I therefore waited outside for about 20 minutes until another guest came home and kindly informed me that I would have to go to the hotel next door to check in. This was nt a problem for me, however, there was nothing to specify that this is what had to be done. NO SIGN to tell a new guest where they have to for check in so I didnt understand how I was meant to know this information wthout the help of another guest. Also, slow internet. "for the price, it was good, clean but basic"
10/06/14 bradykenadee Claremont, Ca
This was an emergency stay last July for 3 nights for my son and I while we were trying to find an apt for him. We had to re-book every night while we were waiting for an apt to open up. Rooms were dated, tho we stayed in 3 different ones - and some were better than others, so there is a great difference in some of them. They were all bigger rooms than most other hotels, and had lots of large storage. The kitchen was nice - again, first one we stayed in was pretty old and sad looking, and the last two pretty good. Everything was clean, although in the first room there were tiles broken and rusty stove and needed new paint and carpet stained, so it looked pretty pathetic. The next two we stayed in were nicer, with newer appliances, and good carpet and paint. The wi fi was good, and free. The people were really nice, and Rene at the front desk was really helpful and nice. We had first booked the room through Hotwire, but then had to keep booking for two more nights, and we just did it through her for the other nights and it was cheaper. It is close to the beach, although you have to walk around the marina a little ways to the left to get to the sand beach, and around to the right to get to Ala Moana park. But not a bad walk, and close by, maybe 3 short blocks altogether. Another nice thing was that they had free MaiTais a couple of nights in the deck/lobby area. It is also close to food, McDonalds and Dennys is right up the street, and lots of other choices right there close like Red Lobster and Outback. They have two buildings, and it is a little confusing because you have to check in at the Equis which is actually in front of the Marina Tower, but that isn't too difficult to do. The prices are good, it was the least expensive we could find, on short notice, and for $99, you can't really expect a lot. They are all independently owned, so some are better than others. As I said, the rooms are large with lots of storage for boogie boards or chairs or beach stuff. The whole wall is cabinets that connect, so storage isn't a problem. The bad things are that some of the rooms are not nice looking, although they are clean. The first night I thought there was dirt - but it was just the paint and worn tile that made it look dirty. The beds were also comfortable, and the linens were clean and fresh and I appreciated that. For the money, I was very happy - although it isn't the Marriott!! The kitchenette was especially nice to have - with the prices of food over there, that was really a plus, and added a lot to the value of the room. You can't usually get a hotel room there with a kitchenette, you have to rent a condo, which are more expensive. The one thing I really missed though, was not having a lanai. I like to sit out on a balcony as often as possible, and there are none here. Also, apparently some of the rooms have views, but ours didn't. It wasn't bad, you just couldn't see the ocean from where we were. But it was clean and cheap, and close to everything, and they had rooms available every night, so that made it good for us!! I think that you can ask to move rooms if they have them available, or you can upgrade in price to get a better one. They are all different, so I think that if there was one in the same category they would let you switch for no more money.
"Avoid this hotel"
09/14/14 ARBR554 Melbourne, Australia
Wish i had known about tripadvisor before i booked this room ! Our room was a kitchenette, clearly not the one shown on the website. it consisted of an unclean stove top and microwave oven, king size mattress with an oversize lump of foam on top, Hotel is desperately in need of a face lift and update, one lift does not work at all and apparently has been like that for a long time, On one occasion we waited for 20 minutes on the 39th floor for the only working lift, as a result we missed our tour bus trip for a luau, and then had to get a taxi there costing $65, when i spoke to reception about it they offered me $5 towards the fare !! On one occasion we were left stranded on the 39th floor when the lift broke down and we had to walk down the stairs, on another day after getting back from a tour we had the option of waiting about an hour for the lift to be repaired or climbing the stairs all the way to 39 . Also had an overflowing toilet, had to use the towels to stop it escaping out of the bathroom, they came and sorted it fairly quickly, took away the towels and promised to bring replacements, they never came !! Room had a musty smell like the carpet had been wet , do yourself a favor, pay a little extra and get a motel you'll enjoy staying at
"Think twice about staying here unless......"
09/13/14 Aardkiwi Palmerston North, New Zealand
If they don't fix the lifts, only stay here if you like climbing stairs! We stayed here for a week and during this time one lift was totally out of order (and I believe has been so for ages) and the second lift kept breaking down. We were on the 27th floor and had to twice walk up to our unit and three times needed to walk downstairs. On the day we left we had to lug our suitcases down 27 flights of stairs! If the lift is fixed then we recommend unit 2704. Sure, the decor was a bit dated but it was clean and had all we needed. The air conditioning is a bit noisy but effective. Free wifi. The view was great and it is an easy walk to the beach, the Ala Moana shopping centre and downtown. There is an ABC Store downstairs that has most things you might need. For its price it would be hard to beat this condo.
"Worst place ever"
09/10/14 Kengi K
I can't even begin to lie and say that the views from this hotel, if you can really call it that, were not very nice, because they were, but that is all they have to offer. I checked in late Sunday night after performing my best man duties fro my two best friends wedding at Secret Beach and attending a luau at Paradise Cove. The first red flag should have been all the trick photography, my friends showed after we had to book a last minute room for me. The next re flag should have been the fact that there is no such location. This place is more condos, than it is a hotel and some of the "rooms" they show are of condos that are rented by the owners of each condo, not the so called hotel. Check in is crazy, because there is no check in desk for this location. You must check in at another hotel, which means lugging your bags up a flight of stairs, then back down to the very back of the lot. You're handed a door clicker that looks like a car alarm device. It was late and I was tired, but there was only one elevator working with 11 people waiting in front of me. This is when i learned that these people lived in the building and they were more than happy to give me all the dirt on the place. Like "bed bugs" "mice" and having to wait long periods of time for the elevators. They even warned me about flooding. I waited 15 minutes before I was finally able to get on the elevator to the 35 floor. When I walked into the rood it was hot as hell, so right away I looked for the air conditioner, I was shocked to see the old school square, accordion style unit mounted with wood in the corner of the window. I turned it on and right away I saw the light that says "service filter" come on. After 45 minutes at the lowest setting, the room was still like a sauna. The toilet in the bathroom was filled with water and had human waste in it. I called the front desk and I was told it would be taken care of in the morning. There was only one towel in the room. The bed was horrible, I could feel every single coil and wire in it. It was like sleeping on two stacked box springs. There were no cover on the bed, just sheets and no cover were located in the room The next morning when "house keeping finally arrived they acted surprised that someone was in the room, telling me that were told i was moved to another room. This is when I called the front desk (other hotel) again. That was yet another problem. In most hotels you simply dial the front desk by pressing 0, but here I had to make a phone call. Again I was told it would be taken care of. By the time I came back from a full day of exploring the counter was filled with water and the floor was soaked. the toilet had once again overflowed, but this time the wall had water running down it. You could actually here the water collecting and dripping in the space above the toilet. The shower only gave nearly cold water and again there were no toiletries left in the room. However there were plenty of towels which I had to use to soak up all the water on the floors. By morning water was leaking from the ceiling in the main room and running down the counter near the microwave which also did not work and seeping from behind the mirror. Calling the front desk was no longer an option because now the phone in the room did not work. I called my friends Tina and Andy who stayed at the Prince across the street and told them what was happening. I checked out two hours early to join them in their AWESOME hotel. This place is a complete dive, the hotel manager would not come to the front desk to speak with me and they refused to give me a check out receipt. One of the guys was in such a hurry to get me out so others could not hear my complaints, but two couples checking in asked me and I was all too happy to tell and show them what took place my two nights. If you find yourself in Waikiki, this place is not where you want to stay. No matter how cheap it is or even if they give it to you for free. I will post the videos to my youtube channel

The room was small and cozy with good views. But the room was very outdated! There were a lot of things needed to be fixed or replaced! The ironing board was ripped. The floor boards in the bathroom needs replaced. The shower curtain needs replaced. The walls had scratch marks all over and needs new paint. The closet door needs replacing. There was also a musty smell in the room! The room was just not very clean!!! Very disappointed for a first time visitor to Honolulu!

Stayed in room 904. Worst experience ever. Lifts didn't work, bugs everywhere, ac broken and noisy, hadn't been cleaned (hair and dirt everywhere) broken facet in bathroom, cracked benchtop in bathroom. It almost ruined our honeymoon. So disappointed. Paid $230 a night for a back packers room.

I had the time of my life on the 36th floor. They really rolled out the red carpet. Everything was in perfect order. I lived in a private condo that had every little detail in place, flowers, fine china, granite countertops and a really hot shower. The views are exquisite, I can't wait to get back to Paradise.

I stayed at Marina for one week. I was on the 36th floor - that was scary. I was offered the 10th floor. When I checked it out - the 36th floor was not so scary any more. On that floor I had the ocean view. I could see an ocean liner heading out to sea - wow! Inside was nicely furnished, including the kitchenette - my taste - wow! I liked that. That shimmering elevator on the side of the building made me fix my eyes and admire the numbers until the elevator finally stopped and the door finally opened on my floor. It was 'freedom time'. I was very relieved! After 2 or 3 days I began to look out at and admire the view and hope I was going to make it to the top. I did not interact much with the staff, but the few times I did, they were quite pleasant. All except for the clerk who admitted me at the concierge. It's a place I can return to again. It is also close to a major shopping centre - the Ala Moana Centre.

For a little over $100 this offers excellent value. Our room is spacious and well appointed. Free wi Fi, good aircon., cable TV, 4 stove cooktops with oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, pots and pans, basic cutlery, microwave, range hood, iron and ironing board. small but adequate ensuite, desk and table with separate chairs, very large storage space. On Ala Moana Boulevarde close to the Ali Wai canal and 1 block off the beach with some ocean views.

We found this place via the web. I wanted a condo fairly close to the beach that wouldn't cosy an arm and a leg. Although a bit run down, the room was clean and functional. We had a problem with the first room as I am terrified of heights and they moved us to a lower floor. Very accommodating and friendly staff.
