"Quality business hotel centrally located"
Excellent hotel with great service. Room service was great. All the staff was very helpful. The hotel is near the Gaslamp district, and all the restaurants there, but far enough away to escape the noise of the Gaslamp.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Charming hotel with wonderful staff"
We loved our stay here! The hotel was really charming and the location was right downtown with the Gaslamp Quarter just a short walk away. The concierge was so helpful and the bar staff whipped up a special surprise for our engagement. The rooftop pool was a great place to soak up some sun. We will definately stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, Comfortable Hotel"
Accessible location. Ten blocks from Convention Center. Right at the Gaslamp Quarter. An alternative for budget-conscious folks.Genuine Expedia guest review
Excellent hotel for a very good price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My boyfriend and I chose this hotel because of how close it was to everything. It was a black away from Horton Plaza and the Gaslamp District. The location is great, tje rooms are nice and spacey. The only thing that bothered us was when we arrived (around 2) we were able to check in and get a room but they didnt have any king beds since they were fully […] booked. We requested a king bed since that's what we paid for but there's probably a side note saying the type of room isnt guaranteed or something like that. We also stayed an extra night which they were more than happy to help is with. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for a night away!"
My daughter and I enjoyed staying here for a night away. Close enough to walk to Gaslamp and right on the trolley route!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not American Hotel"
This hotel was more than we expected. We should have stayed more. Premier room was equipped with elegant furniture and latest device such TV, DVD player and WiFi. Good view from the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Was hoping for more........"
Upon arrival, was told that valet parking is the only available parking for the hotel. There is our first incidental charge. It can get pricey very quickly. The refrigerator was not working despite being plugged in. Since we were already being charged for parking, we didn't want to risk calling the concierge about our refrigerator because we didn't […] want another "incidental charge" on our credit card. The room was small and quite frankly, for what they charge, we could have stayed at the Holiday Inn, for much, much less and gotten a bigger room, with the same amenities and their refrigerator would have worked. Let's not forget the sirens at all hours of the night (can I recommend DOUBLE PANE WINDOWS), and screaming homeless people in the middle of the night as well. When we checked out, we called for a porter to come get our luggage and pull our vehicle around and it took over 45 minutes before we went down to the lobby and got a luggage cart ourselves. Was very disappointed in the overall experience. Will probably not be going back (at least not to stay overnight). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great downtown location!"
Arrived late evening (10pm) with two travel bags, the doorman "just left" ~ little difficult to open the heavy front hotel doors. Slightly strange to see HUGE trash dumpsters near the front entrance of the hotel, during the early morning hours. Nice staff, "French" inspired rooms, great downtown location!Genuine Expedia guest review
"One of the best hotels I have stayed"
Beautiful lobby. All hotel staff were very attentive. I was walked to my room and once settled they delivered sparkling lemonade with chocolate covered strawberries. Everything in the room was perfect - clean with plenty of space. Great view. Liked the extra security (It was a set of two doors). Real key instead of hotel credit card key which is nice. […] The housekeeping department was excellent - they come right away. Valet parking was great - no delay. Room service selection was wonderful, gourmet - they have this great mixed seafood soup on the menu which was excellent. The food served is presented well (smoked salmon arranged in the shape of a rose). They have a nightly turn down where they bring chocolate pieces at night. The water pitcher is full of ice when you arrive then is refilled for you at night (this is one of the minor issues in most hotels - having to find the ice in the hall then filling up the water pitcher. They do this for you). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Excellent Hotel! Normally I try to stay at one of the chain hotels for points. The Westgate is definitely worth forfeiting those points. I was so impressed with the service, room, food etc. They set the bar on what a hotel should be for business travelers.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was good overall. The bar was a bit of a let down!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful classy hotel"
A quality hotel featuring classy styling, excellent service and intthe middle of all kinds of shopping and restaurants. Would stay again next time in town without a doubt.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent hotel in the center of San Diego"
The Westgate is an elegant hotel in the middle of everything. The rooms are large and luxurious, and the service was top quality. The concierge went out of our way to help us with tourism arrangements and tickets. The reasonable price makes this a great value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Elegant hotel with very pleasant staff"
We chose the Westgate because it was very close to the opera performance we went to. It is so pleasant to leave an evening performance and walk a block to your bed! No long drive home! The hotel is also very close to Horton Plaza and other downtown San Diego sites. The hotel looks like a modern high-rise but when you walk through the door you feel as […] if you've stepped into an elegant, meticulously maintained hotel in Europe. Our room was very large and had a pleasant city view for a very reasonable price. We had a fabulous breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Beautiful Hotel in Gaslamp district"
Hotel was beautiful and close to restaurants and the shopping center in the gaslamp district. Also walking distance from the train station. Only problem was a loud man that yelled outside the hotel all night.Genuine Expedia guest review
A great hotel... Wonderful place to stay if you want a break from the baseball cap, cell phone , flip flop, loud, rude t shirt folks. Elegant and sophisticated with beautiful rooms and attentive polite employees. Terrific food and beverages.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Hotel right in the middle of everything"
Enjoyed my experience, except for the $32 per night valet. If you park 0.6 miles away (a short 10 minute walk), you will only spend $15 per night at a parking lot on 6th and Market.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent for an extended stay in San Diego"

I love this hotel. The service and the amenities are the main reason to keep coming back. Can't say enough nice thing about this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice to have close to the gaslamp district."
Not a fan of this hotel. Old and tired. $32 charge to park the car per day plus $15 per day for turn down service and who knows what.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very nice. The fitness center is meh. The wireless internet is not very good. It is designed to look like a very old hotel even though it is not (it was built in the 1970s). Overall, it's a nice place to stay if you want to be close to Gas Lamp quarter and the bay. Not so good for business given the issues with wireless.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Right location and beautiful room! If it is in your budget it is well worth it! The staff was very helpful too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Classic Charm"
Great hotel. 5 blocks north of the convention center. Far enough away from the Gas Lamp Quarter to avoid the rowdies and noise, but within easy walking distance (two blocks west on Broadway). Train runs right behind the hotel to travel on public system. Especially enjoyed working out at 6am under skyscrapers with a lit 25 meter pool, padded running […] track and covered exercise equipment. Staff are friendly. I think tips are probably covered in the $15 per night fee. (There is no description for what this fee is used for. Hope an employee of the West Gate will comment on this?) "Touch of Versailles and Seventeenth Century Charm"
The greeting by the valet and doorman was pleasant and not rushed at all. Sometimes you get that feeling they want you out of their way, not here. Tucked away off Second and Broadway downtown San Diego this hotel gave me the sense of elegance and class the minute I walked into the lobby. Decorated with some of the same style art, chandeliers, furniture […] and carpet that you would find from the period of French monarchy you feel transformed into a guest not just a customer. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful with early check-in and late check-out. Room was comfortable, quiet, clean and well decorated with marble bathroom and elegant window coverings. We had an excellent view with large sliding glass doors out onto a small standing balcony facing out towards the Coronado Bridge/Island. The location puts you about three blocks North of The Gas Lamp District and plenty of restaurants, clubs and entertainment. From House of Blues, Yard House and Hard Rock Café to one of my favorites La Fiesta Mexican Seafood or Fred’s Mexican Food just for fun. Whatever your taste you cannot go wrong with the service, style and location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Early Morning Noise."
Good location but too noisy in the mornings.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Westgate Hotel Dear Guest., Thank you for your feedback from your recent stay. Unfortunately we cannot control the trolley noise outside of the hotel; we will accommodate all guests if the matter is brought to our attention and correct any issues immediately. As far as the resort fee, it appears you reserved your accommodations through a source other than directly with the hotel and that source does not disclose to your all the fees and services to you prior to purchase. If travel brings you back to San Diego I would love to welcome you back to The Westgate Hotel. Please feel free to call me directly at 619-557-3619. Sincerely, Sarah Gunter Director of Operations
Went to San Diego for the weekend and a Monday night football game. First visit to the Westgate Plaza, what a great find. Location was perfect, easy walk to Gaslamp quarter, rooms were quiet and well appointed. "Hidden fee on checkout"
The place is by no means a resort and they hit u with a $20 a day resort fee on checkout, when I questioned it the staff was very unfriendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
During our stay we felt that the outdoor noises (i.e. train, street activity, construction.) made it very difficult to sleep and relax. We were charged unexpected hidden fees per day; an extra $15 'room charge' for internet usage, etc. and $32 per night for parking. 'We were not told to expect the level of noise that we encountered during late evening […] hours. The maid service was excellent, the concierge service was unprofessional, the parking attendants were well groomed and very helpful. The staff were excellent and I couldn't be happier with the room! The king bed was so comfy I never wanted to get out of it! There are a lot of perks, such as room service. It was nice to have breakfast brought to me and the food was delicious.Genuine Expedia guest review
From the moment we arrived until the time we left, we received excellent service from everyone we dealt with at the Westgate Hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. "Great overall service and amenities"
The ornate decor is... well.... ornate. The amenities and service are fantastic. Turndown service, 24 hr room service and a general feeling of being spoiled is a good thing when your road-warrior trip has gone from tiring to an absolute grind. The flowers on the breakfast tray, killer croissants, outdoor pool with lap lanes for a real swim, a semi indoor/outdoor […] fitness facility, the jazz/retro vibe and cushy robes all combine to rejuvenate the spirit. I popped out of there ready for a few more weeks on the road. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Westgate San Diego"
Fabulous hotel and staff, elegant hotel incredibly well maintained, beautiful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfort and character"
I really, really liked the Westgate. I had spent the first two days of my San Diego visit at a convention hotel (the Manchester Grand Hyatt). The Hyatt had a harbor view, huge TV, modern trendy decor, and no character whatsoever. I far preferred the Westgate and will certainly return if I ever visit San Diego again. It's hard to pin down exactly why […] I found my room so comfortable: decor (slightly old-fashioned but for that very reason welcoming), intelligent layout of the furniture and bathroom, plenty of floor and closet space. It was pleasant to spend time there. Two quibbles, one of them minor. First, at least in my room (1595), there was no electrical outlet near the desk; so you could either run your laptop on battery power or work somewhere else. Second, I'm going to echo others who complain about the $15 "facility fee." This is mandatory, and there is no excuse for not including it in the advertised room rate. Sorry, Westgate, but you need to be more honest about this. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Comfortable luxurious hotel"
Westgate was a pleasant stay. Upon walking into the hotel, I immediately thought I was on he Titanic. The old school Victorian design with high ceilings and hanging chandeliers was quite charming. I was surprised when the room key was an actual key that you had to turn. I haven't seen one of those in forever. Hailing a cab or walking around from the […] hotel was quite easy as well. The hotel was close to almost everything we wanted to do which was a huge plus. We walked everywhere.. in heels! The only thing about the hotel, which is not their fault, is there was construction on the street below our window, which woke us up at 7am on a Saturday, after a long Friday night. It was irritating, but the hotel staff was gracious enough to wave their hotel fee for us. I had to ask of course, but it was nice that they were so accommodating. Also, the mini fridge is stocked with water bottles which is nice. Overall, the hotel is nice, friendly, and accommodating. "Comfortable & Friendly"
Stayed for 6 nights for a convention (about 15-20 min walk to convention center). Staff friendly & helpful. Hotel is downtown and with my room being on the fourth floor, I was woken up nearly every night by the sound of emergency vehicle sirens. Overall condition of hotel was very elegant & appreciated the twice a day room service (they ensure you have […] plenty of bottled water & get ice, if needed). Would definitely stay there again!
