"comfortable and competent off union square"
older but well-maintained building. room small but ceilings high. bed comfy. bathroom ok, nice deep tub. good coffee, muffins and tea selection. complimentary wine in evening. 4 star (of 5) Italian restaurant off lobby. monitor-sized tv. would definitely book again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the place! Our only problem was that the bed was a queen and my husband is tall and moves around a lot in his sleep. But we were just a short walk away from parking, great food and Union Square. I would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old building- old problems"
The room itself was small, but fine. The bathroom is ridiculously tiny, with the sink and mirror directly over the toilet. There were several hairs on the shower wall that remained throughout my stay. Noise is a problem- the walls are thin, and the back overlooks a valet parking lot with nightclub/restaurants that gets quite loud at times. One morning […] I was awakened by a dripping sound- the bathroom ceiling was leaking from above. Staff was very nice, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This place is great! Very cute and comfy. Nice touches include free wine during happy hour, free coffee/tea/fruit in the lobby, and self-serve breakfast on each floor every morning. Staff were very friendly. Room was big enough, lots of windows, well furnished (we had a king bed). Near Union Square but also the Tenderloin, so good for tourists but can […] be sketchy down the block. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at the hotel. The room was small but cozy, there was enough space to store our luggage and the bathroom and shower met all our needs. The free Internet worked as advertised and the complimentary glass of wine in the Italian restaurant was a welcome bonus. Loved our stay there. 5 Stars!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Oh so tiny bathrooms made it a bit uncomfortable and most of the rooms are very small so not that comfortable, but it is a great location. The woman in charge at the desk named Mary was great with helpfulness and charm. Without that element we would not have been very happy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bathroom was extremely confined"
Overall a good place in a good part of the city a few blocks off of Union Sq on Post Street. My main criticism of my single room was the bathroom that was extremely confined: the toilet, sink and bathroom were aligned in a space about 6 feet long and 3 feet wide (perhaps a converted closet in this 1905 bldg that survived the 1906 quake?). The door had […] to be left open to use the toilet or sink. Other than that a good place although a bit pricey for such an odd bathroom setup. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice petite hotel"
Nice small hotel. Good location. We stay one night and the hotel was good for the short visit. The room is small but you won't spend much time there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Andrews has great staff, but..."
Really nice and helpful staff, but this place is bad. Actually it's just really old and hasn't been renovated. My room was clean but the bathroom was in rough shape. Paint peeling off the enamel sink, terrible water pressure, and barely any hot water. Plus a really loud vibration at times in the shower. 2 of the smallest TVs ever (my laptop is bigger) […] and no ESPN. The staff is really nice but they can't make up for the poor quality of the rooms. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great stay. No complaints"
Quaint, cozy hotel in a convenient location with friendly staff and a bit of old world charm. The location was a tad noisy until about 3 am. Easy parking. Breakfast is self-serve on each floor which is so wonderful (grab and go in your PJs if you want) and the pastries were actually really good. No complaints. Would definitely stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A lot to love at the Andrews Hotel"
The Andrews has a lot to love, though the rooms are very small, and the bathrooms tiny. I continue to go there year after year because the rates are always less than adjacent hotels near Union Square, the folks behind the reception desk are super-nice and eager to help with directions or other needs, the self-service breakfast laid out on every floor […] by 7 a.m. makes it possible to have coffee and croissants in my pajamas, and the complimentary glass of wine at the attached Fino Italian restaurant is so pleasant. "A quaint historic hotel with a wonderful staff."
It was wonderful to get away from the standard type hotel and stay in a historical and quaint hotel. I booked same day and arrived after 11P. The front door was locked and there was no one at the desk. I knocked for more than 30 minutes sitting on the street. "Andrews Hotel a Good Choice Near Union Square"
The Andrews Hotel is a couple of blocks away from Union Square. The wifi works well, and the continental breakfast (fruit, pastries, juice, coffee and tea) in the hallway of each floor is a nice touch. There is a small sitting room near reception.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very reminiscent of the past"
I stayed there for my anniversary weekend and my Fiance' and I loved it! It is very old school and charming. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding and the hotel staff even left plenty of reminders to set back our clocks, which I thought was really nice!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place to stay"
We stayed here for 3 nights. I loved the location and the service. Rooms are small, but what can you expect for a hotel that is almost 100 years old. The contenental breakfast was on each floor, which I loved because I could just go out and get coffee & a pastry in my PJ's. We all loved the pasteries!!! Super good, and they had fresh fruit & O.J. "Charming hotel close to Union Square"
We had fun being within walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown, and bus lines to everywhere in SF. The hotel was our base of operations for day trips to Fishermans' Wharf, Japantown, and the Fine Arts Museums. The hotel was old but nicely remodeled and comfortable. And the staff helped us with booking an airport shuttle and making change. I'd stay […] at the Andrews Hotel again on my next visit to San Francisco. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I loved this hotel. It's was clean and in a great location. The best part about the stay was the Fino Restaurant. That has great food. I at there multiple times on my stay. The only thing I can say I didn't like as much was the size of the room. It was really small and a little too cramped for me. But I made it work.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great historical hotel"
The Andrews was a quaint historical hotel. Our room was better than I expected from an older hotel. It was charming and had a nice sitting area overlooking the street to enjoy coffee in the morning. Would definitely go back and recommend this hotel to anyone else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for price"
Yes, rooms and bath are small ... But that's what your tradeoff is for this outstanding location. Want to stay out of area at a chain motel? Be my guest. Staff (except for one personality challenged individual) was fine -- particularly doorman/bellhop who was extremely helpful. I don't know if owner realizes how valuable he is.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A very depressing stay,"
There is a big difference between "antique" and "shabby old". The room was very uncomfortable and the bath was a joke: if you are bigger than 50 pounds you do not fit in. Breakfast it looked to be in the army: food and beverage on a counter in each floor - nobody to take care so any "garbage" could be done. Bad, very bad experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Backroads Biking Trip"
This is a great location to the pick up point for Backroads Biking trip. Fino, onsite restaurant, was a great find, not the usual hotel food.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great day time desk. Made for a great visit."

"Boutique Hotel in Accessible Part of Town"
The rooms are EXTREMELY small (especially for the price!). But, they have all the basic necessities, and you don't go to SFO to stay in your room.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a very small room. The shampoo was antiseptic smelling and the towels were really rough. TV was so small it was unusable.WIFI connection was intermittent and needed rebooting on their in end in the AM . The worst problem was that the lock to my door was broken and didn't get fixed until the end of my two day stay. I had to be let in and out […] by the service people each time. "great restaurant in the lobby"
Tiny rooms, but very adequate for what we needed - a bivouac after long days of walking around and shopping. Nice folks at the desk. Great restaurant in the lobby. This is an old property that has just kept on. Not a lot of staff to wait on you hand and foot. This is the level of non-fuss we prefer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel I would stay again but the valet service for the car took way to long to bring the car 45 minutes.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The Andrews Hotel was very quaint."
We loved staying at this hotel. Even though it was old, it was very well maintained. The room was a little small but was fine since it was just the two of us and we were only there at night. It was very convenient because it was within walking distance to union square, China Town and North beach Italian section. The concierges were always helpful and […] very hospitable. They booked tours for us and told us where to eat dinner. The breakfast was delicious but not good if you're on a diet because there were fresh bakery pastries, fruit, coffe and tea every morning outside your room. Fino restaurant is attached to the hotel and was a nice convenience as well. There was a complimentary glass of wine offered to you every evening. I would go back there again. This hotel was very nicely situated a couple of blocks from Union Square, and a few more from the BART stop. It is in an older building, so the stairway is narrow, the elevator shows some age, though never felt unsafe in it. The rooms are a little tight, but it's all clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wedding Reception on Nob Hill"
A one-night visit, but close and convenient. The staff was very helpful. The front desk dropped everything to hail a cab for us to get out to the wedding at the Presidio. Took a cab from the reception back to the hotel because of the late hour, though the route appeared walkable. The bedroom was tight for a king, but we had a separate sitting room with […] leather chairs and a desk. The rooms, including the bath, were clean. The pastries and coffee service in the morning were quite good. We used their valet parking, and that went well and only a little more expensive than a self-park somewhere. The stay worked out very well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Boutique Hotel close to everything"
Our stay at the Andrews Hotel was very good. We stayed in a king room with a nice view of Post street. The room was small but cozy and the bed was very comfortable. "Excellent Union Square location"
Everything was great except the room, bathroom and shower were too small. Didn't like having to pay $30.00 a night for non valet parking in an unsecured lot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location and amenities."
I really liked the Andrews. The location is perfect (close to transportation, restaurants, walkable, etc.) The hotel has lots of charm and character, and they throw in lots of amenities (continental breakfast, a glass of wine each afternoon, fresh fruit always available, free wifi, etc.). The only negative is that because the rooms are so old fashioned, […] the only air circulation is an overhead fan and one window. It wasn't too bad, but it was a bit stuffy. "Great location. Great staff."
Lovely old hotel and very helpful staff (except the night man) Only problem is we took a small room and there were two of us. Would recommend either two beds or a larger room if a couple. We could barely function in our roomGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cheaper but smaller"
I visit SF at least 2-3 times a year and usually stay near Powell station. I chose Andrews Hotel because it was on sale at $120, a great price for this area. It is a bit far from Powell station, about 3-4 blocks from Union Square and about 7-8 blocks of hilly walk to MUNI and BART station. That is not so bad as long as you don't pick a road that is […] way too hilly. There are some restaurants, liquer stores, and a Walgreen nearby. For location, it is not so bad. As for hotel itself, the lobby is small but cozy. There is one historic elevator and a very narrow stair. Eat floor has about 5-7 rooms. My room has a full bed and a desk, a very small closet and a small bathroom with only shower. It is a teeny tiiiny room with not much space to spare. There is a 26 inch LCD with DVD player on the table, a regular chair and a single sofa chair, and that's about it for the entire room. Small and, small. No central AC so it can get warm in the room. No fridge either. As for service, the receptionists are pretty nice. I was informed of evening wine reception and morning breakfast, both of which i did not take advantage. It is not a bad place to stay, but it is, again, small. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice but small historical hotel room"
The service at this hotel is very good. There are always coffee/tea and fruit available in the lobby. The continental breakfast is above average. There is also free wine every evening although I did not take that advantage. The room is rather small though, particularly the bath room. If you are over 200 pounds, you may have trouble to use the toilet […] as you'll need to bend your legs under the sink. There is also a crack in the sink. Nevertheless, these do not bother me that much. The hotel is within blocks from the Union Square and Powell Cable Car turn table. In short, this is a good value. "Loved this place!"
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and we loved it! The hotel was charming - in size and in decoration. The elevator is of the older variation with the inside gate, but we liked it for the neat experience. The room was small but perfect for just two people. The weather was nice while we were in San Francisco, so the lack of air conditioning […] did not bother us. We kept the window open the whole time and it was fine. The best part about this hotel: the continental breakfast! The pastries were SO DELICIOUS! I highly recommend the apple turnovers with orange juice to drink. I loved that the breakfast was served on each floor, so we didn't have to go down to the main lobby to get it. Our room was clean. We really liked the price; we expected it to be much higher since we were staying in the city. My husband and I would both recommend this hotel to others! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old time San Francisco"
If you want a taste of old San Francisco, here it is! It's quiante! The elevator is real old time! The stairs are scarie! The bed was comfortable, but the ceiling fan chain hasn't been cleaned in years! You can't sit on the toilet without sitting sideways, because of the sink. But the people were nice. Also, you must pay alot For parking per day, ouch! […] I guess I'm just a poor Michigan girl & not used to this big city anymore. I was here in the 70's. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Ok, it's a two star not a five star, but it was warm and wonderful and a fraction of the price. Kind of like a charming old European hotel you would have stayed in when you were younger. Highly recommended whether you're trying to save on five stars or not.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quaint but small"
Basically it was right in the middle of lots of things to walk to, Union Square and the cable car stop etc...A little close to the Tenderloin district where we wondered accidentally one night.
