"Boutique Hotel in Accessible Part of Town"
The rooms are EXTREMELY small (especially for the price!). But, they have all the basic necessities, and you don't go to SFO to stay in your room.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a very small room. The shampoo was antiseptic smelling and the towels were really rough. TV was so small it was unusable.WIFI connection was intermittent and needed rebooting on their in end in the AM . The worst problem was that the lock to my door was broken and didn't get fixed until the end of my two day stay. I had to be let in and out […] by the service people each time. "great restaurant in the lobby"
Tiny rooms, but very adequate for what we needed - a bivouac after long days of walking around and shopping. Nice folks at the desk. Great restaurant in the lobby. This is an old property that has just kept on. Not a lot of staff to wait on you hand and foot. This is the level of non-fuss we prefer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel I would stay again but the valet service for the car took way to long to bring the car 45 minutes.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The Andrews Hotel was very quaint."
We loved staying at this hotel. Even though it was old, it was very well maintained. The room was a little small but was fine since it was just the two of us and we were only there at night. It was very convenient because it was within walking distance to union square, China Town and North beach Italian section. The concierges were always helpful and […] very hospitable. They booked tours for us and told us where to eat dinner. The breakfast was delicious but not good if you're on a diet because there were fresh bakery pastries, fruit, coffe and tea every morning outside your room. Fino restaurant is attached to the hotel and was a nice convenience as well. There was a complimentary glass of wine offered to you every evening. I would go back there again. This hotel was very nicely situated a couple of blocks from Union Square, and a few more from the BART stop. It is in an older building, so the stairway is narrow, the elevator shows some age, though never felt unsafe in it. The rooms are a little tight, but it's all clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wedding Reception on Nob Hill"
A one-night visit, but close and convenient. The staff was very helpful. The front desk dropped everything to hail a cab for us to get out to the wedding at the Presidio. Took a cab from the reception back to the hotel because of the late hour, though the route appeared walkable. The bedroom was tight for a king, but we had a separate sitting room with […] leather chairs and a desk. The rooms, including the bath, were clean. The pastries and coffee service in the morning were quite good. We used their valet parking, and that went well and only a little more expensive than a self-park somewhere. The stay worked out very well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Boutique Hotel close to everything"
Our stay at the Andrews Hotel was very good. We stayed in a king room with a nice view of Post street. The room was small but cozy and the bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was very good as well. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The Fino restaurant was very good as well. Only 2 blocks to Union square and access to cable cars. […] The only downside to the room was the bathroom was very small and tight, but considering the age of the hotel, it was nice to have a private bathroom. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent Union Square location"
Everything was great except the room, bathroom and shower were too small. Didn't like having to pay $30.00 a night for non valet parking in an unsecured lot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel good location"
Friendly & Helpful staff, hallway carpets need to be replaced, Room was clean but had a small sink in the bathroom. Nice high ceilings in room. Hotel is old but price & location was good 2-blocks from union square.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location and amenities."
I really liked the Andrews. The location is perfect (close to transportation, restaurants, walkable, etc.) The hotel has lots of charm and character, and they throw in lots of amenities (continental breakfast, a glass of wine each afternoon, fresh fruit always available, free wifi, etc.). The only negative is that because the rooms are so old fashioned, […] the only air circulation is an overhead fan and one window. It wasn't too bad, but it was a bit stuffy. For the price, I thought it was great and would definitely return. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location. Great staff."
Lovely old hotel and very helpful staff (except the night man) Only problem is we took a small room and there were two of us. Would recommend either two beds or a larger room if a couple. We could barely function in our roomGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cheaper but smaller"
I visit SF at least 2-3 times a year and usually stay near Powell station. I chose Andrews Hotel because it was on sale at $120, a great price for this area. It is a bit far from Powell station, about 3-4 blocks from Union Square and about 7-8 blocks of hilly walk to MUNI and BART station. That is not so bad as long as you don't pick a road that is […] way too hilly. There are some restaurants, liquer stores, and a Walgreen nearby. For location, it is not so bad. As for hotel itself, the lobby is small but cozy. There is one historic elevator and a very narrow stair. Eat floor has about 5-7 rooms. My room has a full bed and a desk, a very small closet and a small bathroom with only shower. It is a teeny tiiiny room with not much space to spare. There is a 26 inch LCD with DVD player on the table, a regular chair and a single sofa chair, and that's about it for the entire room. Small and, small. No central AC so it can get warm in the room. No fridge either. As for service, the receptionists are pretty nice. I was informed of evening wine reception and morning breakfast, both of which i did not take advantage. It is not a bad place to stay, but it is, again, small. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice but small historical hotel room"
The service at this hotel is very good. There are always coffee/tea and fruit available in the lobby. The continental breakfast is above average. There is also free wine every evening although I did not take that advantage. The room is rather small though, particularly the bath room. If you are over 200 pounds, you may have trouble to use the toilet […] as you'll need to bend your legs under the sink. There is also a crack in the sink. Nevertheless, these do not bother me that much. The hotel is within blocks from the Union Square and Powell Cable Car turn table. In short, this is a good value. "Loved this place!"
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and we loved it! The hotel was charming - in size and in decoration. The elevator is of the older variation with the inside gate, but we liked it for the neat experience. The room was small but perfect for just two people. The weather was nice while we were in San Francisco, so the lack of air conditioning […] did not bother us. We kept the window open the whole time and it was fine. The best part about this hotel: the continental breakfast! The pastries were SO DELICIOUS! I highly recommend the apple turnovers with orange juice to drink. I loved that the breakfast was served on each floor, so we didn't have to go down to the main lobby to get it. Our room was clean. We really liked the price; we expected it to be much higher since we were staying in the city. My husband and I would both recommend this hotel to others! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old time San Francisco"
If you want a taste of old San Francisco, here it is! It's quiante! The elevator is real old time! The stairs are scarie! The bed was comfortable, but the ceiling fan chain hasn't been cleaned in years! You can't sit on the toilet without sitting sideways, because of the sink. But the people were nice. Also, you must pay alot For parking per day, ouch! […] I guess I'm just a poor Michigan girl & not used to this big city anymore. I was here in the 70's. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Ok, it's a two star not a five star, but it was warm and wonderful and a fraction of the price. Kind of like a charming old European hotel you would have stayed in when you were younger. Highly recommended whether you're trying to save on five stars or not.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quaint but small"
Basically it was right in the middle of lots of things to walk to, Union Square and the cable car stop etc...A little close to the Tenderloin district where we wondered accidentally one night. Small cozy hotel with a "European touch". Has a nice adjacent restaurant/bar. Room and bathroom very small, mine was with a shower only, but very neat. Centralized and quite. Excellent service.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff were very helpful and the hotel served the purpose for the short business trip. It is in close proximity to shopping, eating and entertainment. Quaint hotel, remodelled several years ago. Needs new carpet in the corridors, but other than that clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful. "friendly service, older hotel, good deal"
Staff were very friendly. Free wireless internet, free continental breakfast (good coffee and pastry), and complimentary glass of wine in the evening at great Italian restaurant downstairs. Jody was a great in helping me to efficiently plan the visit to many SF sights which were part of my sixth grade classroom scavenger hunt that my students researched. It's staff like Jody that make San Francisco and the Andrews a wonderful place to stay. I enjoyed the personal feeling at the Andrews hotel. I do wish that the hotel owners would update […] the decor of some of the smaller rooms, including bedspreads and small television. Make sure to ask for a description of the bathroom--I had one with a small sink and a shower only. I had been looking forward to a bath in one of those deep boutique hotel tubs...oh well. "Smaller is better"
This is not a big fancy hotel, but you don't need all the over priced frills staying in San Francisco. We found the Andrews Hotel the perfect place. It's small and very quant. It has everything you need. A comfortable room with basic amenities and free wi-fi. Not a big screen TV, but who cares. You're not in San Fran to watch television. A very lovely […] continental breakfast every morning. A free glass of wine at the attached Fino restaurant every night! (We had a wonderful dinner our last night in California.) The staff is very friendly, attentive and professional. Centrally located enough to all transportation. (near the cable cars, near to Market St which has access to the streetcars and buses) Need a gym or steam room? Forget it. Need a clean room with the basic necessities which is priced fairly? Then take a pass on the Marriott and book a room. Our only gripe was the loud parking lot behind the hotel and occasional truck plodding through late at night. Try to get a room in the front near Post St. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Small rooms, but convenient and friendly"
My room was tiny but had everything I needed. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was sufficient (and I actually liked having to take a tray back to my room to eat it). My mother was very pleased with this hotel. It's in a very convenient location, and not as loud as other nearby blocks. It's a nice independent hotel that is well-kept. The antique elevator is cool. "great hotel for a family or just adults."
we had 3 adults,a 9-year old and a 14 year old with us. the staff was extraordinairily kind to the kids and would even tease them gently.the kids loved it, and the little one begged to get us hot chocolatefrom the lobby all the time. they expecially loved the "cage" elevator. Though there were still things to be updated, the important things were done: […] great showers. good heat, wonderful room service from the restaurant next door, clean, comfortable beds perfect Jr. Suite for one adult and two children, charm. the staff was very helpful with everything: directions, recommendations, printing out boarding passes, etc. the continental breakfast was very good, expecially the fruit, and it's convenience helped our planning each day. perfect location. we will stay there again. "Cute, nice staff, good union square location"
Nice quaint hotel in a good location very close to union square. Staff was excellent. Jodi was especially helpful and so pleasant. She helped me find many locations in the area and gave me perfect walking/mass transit directions. The restaurant, Vino, was packed every night and the elevator was really cute!Genuine Expedia guest review
This was my second stay, though my first was better. I had a service problem in the restaurant/bar which offers free wine for hotel guests. (My boyfriend and I were asked to take our glass of wine in the hotel lobby, even though the restaurant/bar wasn't busy, and we weren't asked if we'd be paying for another glass of wine.) House-keeping was extra […] noisy on one morning. (Request a room stay away from the stairs/elevator.) The continental breakfast ran out of pastries on one morning. Overall, I love this place because of its history and general "feel," but my poor experience in the restaurant/bar soured everything else a bit for me. It can be a bit loud at times but then again, we were in the middle of the city so it's expected. This is an old, noisy place. Maybe this is a supply demand issue, but I felt that I got very little for my money. The room is small, feels like an old bed and breakfast and smells wierd. This is a nice hotel - pleasant rooms, decent continental breakfast, etc. However, anyone who is larger than I am (6'1", 190 pounds) should inquire about the size of the bathrooms of the rooms that he or she is considering.
