I stayed on the third (top) floor. It was very quiet even though the hotel was quite full. The bed was comfortable and the coffee maker, though small, worked well. The blow dryer worked well but as I had brought my own I used mine. I didn't make use of the continental breakfast but it looked sufficient. The pool and spa were fun. Towels were provided.

Hotel was clean and staff were very friendly. Location is great as a starting point for activities in the area but parking lot access in and out can be tricky with traffic on the highway.
Location.
Situated in Salem, Red Lion Hotel Salem is close to Oregon State Fairgrounds Pavilion, Salem Armory Auditorium, and Chemeketa Community College. Also nearby are Oregon State Capitol and Willamette University.
Hotel Features.
Red Lion Hotel Salem has an indoor pool, a sauna, and a fitness facility. Wireless Internet access is complimentary in public areas. "Hotel near Wings & Waves and Dinning"
The staff here were very friendly. The pool wasn't all that great but our kids had a blast. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, bathrooms stocked with towels, and free wifi.....what more could you ask for?. My family and I really enjoyed staying here. For the money and the location it was perfect for us. We took our kids to the Evergreen Aviation […] Wings & Waves water park which is about a 40 min drive and WELL worth it. "Easy location, solid experience"
Hotel right off the freeway, staff was knowledgeable about the city, room had microwave and mini fridge, everything worked out fine. Restaurant on site, though we didn't use it. Nickel arcade and miniature golf one block away for the kids.

The staff and facility is very nice, just ran into two problems during my stay. 1. Toilet in room did not flush properly. 2. Room smelled musty.
"Salem - unhappy with hotel"
The hotel was not up to my expectations being classified as a 3 star hotel. The room has a slight musty smell with the smell of dog urine close to the windows. Found a dirty wash cloth when pulled the shower curtain closed. Never was able to get hot running water in the sink. Walls very thin..... could hear everything the family was saying in the room […] next to us. They had small children which were very loud and out spoken. When the lunge party was over around 2 am the party proceeded to the parking lot waking us up. Visit Salem regularly to visit my father and will never stay at the Red Lion again. Read more
"First time, great experience"
We stayed for the first time in Red Lion Inn last weekend and it was a great experience. Very convenient location as we needed to go to PDX to catch our plane and Hut Shuttle leaves from the hotel. The hotel allowed us late check out even though it was sold out! Staff is very friendly and the food at the restaurant was terrific.
Nice hotel. Clean and comfortable. Right off the freeway and easy to find. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Needed a pharmacy and front desk gave us clear directions.

The room has an obvious update - with wood floor outside of bathroom. The floor surface was very slippery. The room had a very ODD lime green chair which did not match the rest of the decor. I was in town for training that was only 2 miles away from this hotel! All the staff was very professional and friendly and made my stay so wonderful. I will recommend this Hotel to everyone I know traveling to Salem, OR. Thank you, Red Lion!
"Nice pool"
My family and I were there for just one night. We enjoyed the comforts of the room and the swimming pool. No breakfast was included but there were many options nearby. Some equipment in the exercise room was broken. The front desk staff could have been more welcoming but the housekeeper was delightful.

The decor was very nice. But I needed a shower cap, which was not there. The maid was wonderful, she found my cel phone left behind and rushed down to checkout with it!!! I feel at the price I paid, I was entitled to breakfast included, which was finally granted since the reservation man had promised that it would be.

"Salem red lion filthy."
This hotel was one of the dirtiest I have seen in a while. There was hair all over the bathroom floor (obviously not cleaned) there was long black hairs in the bedding. The comforter also had some nasty stain on it. The bathroom door looked like someone had ripped part of the wood off.. This just was not the experience I was looking for on our weekend […] trip away...... Very disappointing !! Read more
"Great looks, comfortable but with minor flaws."
The hotel is very nice, the customer service was friendly and timely. The bathtub was a little small and the pressure of the water was a little weak. And the vending machines on the third floor weren't even plugged in. Aside from the shower issues and the vending machine this place is a great place to stay.
We were commpletly satisfied with our short stay The clerk that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. my only complaint is the $15 pet charge our dog is small and very well behaved and does not make any messes

This is a very nice, convenient place to stay if you're traveling I-5. The area is safe and has a number of restaurants and gas stations. Also, important is that the hotel staff is especially friendly and accommodating.

I am in Salem frequently for family obligations. The Red Lion is well equipped and comfortable. But the reason I choose this hotel over the others is the quality of service at the reception desk.

Because of long drive from Seattle, we were very tired and exhausted. Clean bed and room was very impressive. After we slept there, the bed was very cosy, soft and we recovered from our tiresome. We were very happy for the hotel and the hotel is very close from the Costco as well. I strongly recomended this hotel to my friend.

I totally appreciated James at the front desk. We were just married the night before and he totally upgraded us to a suite. He was so friendly and kind! Thanks for the upgrade, it made our honeymoon road-trip much more enjoyable, let alone, memorable!

i normally don't bother wth reviews. however, when things are this bad, i make the effort.
the room kept getting really hot-woke up several times in the night to open the window-other than that it was a good place to stay.

Very close to shopping mall and a variety of restaurants. Went to the State Fair and hotel had a shuttle that was very convient. Drivers were very friendly.

This hotel seemed clean but a little on the shabby, dark side. We only stayed one night and it served it's purpose but I thought that for the money, the hotel needs a bit of updating.

My one-night stay at the Red Lion Salem was exactly what I needed: a comfortable place to stay at a very reasonable price. It was conveniently located within a reasonable distance of downtown and also well positioned for a quick return to I-5 for the drive back to Portland the next day.
