"Close to everything"
I like that it is close to everything. But the room was too small. The room was stuffy. And I smelled cigarette smoke and weed from the vents.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent location but dated ameneties."
Enjoyed it. Room was much better than previous visit which is a good thing. We like older hotels with character but itvis still hard to control the room temperature. Staff is very helpful and breakfast restaurant was very good to excellent in both price and quality.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"location awesome, hotel ok"
Couldn't beat the location, walking distance to White House, Ford's Theater, Nat History and American History Museums. Room itself was clean and basic, served our purpose. Cons were bathroom smelled mildewy, our beds sagged quite badly but friends next door had new, very firm mattresses (my friend found it too firm). Skip the in-hotel restaurants, they […] had icky smell and food not great (spaghetti sauce was jar-quality, also Ollie's served our breakfast on styrofoam plates and it was pretty greasy). "Trip to DC With Friend"
Hotel Harrington is an older (built in 1914) hotel, that was comfortable - the bathroom was okay (very small shelf over the sink; water pressure in sink was low; no hot water in sink - though the shower had sufficient water pressure and plenty of hot water). It was quite warm for this time of year, but there is no thermostat. THere was, however, some […] kind of duct on the ceiling over the entry way, with a metal rod that came down on the wall. We figured out that it was probably for the a/c and heat. We opened it, and it was not up to par. The lower part of the window opened and had a screen, but the traffic noise with sirens blaring all night, made it difficult to sleep. It was very conveniently located to where our friend was staying, and a short walk to the Mall and other places to see, and restaurants. But I'm not sure that we would stay there again. This hotel is not very modern, or flashy. But the location and price more than make up for it. The only down side is the parking is about 2-3 BLOCKS away, and the hotel does not offer a shuttle, it would have been nice to know that before hand. The staff was nice, the room and common areas were clean, no issues there. There are good resturants (3 on […] site) & shopping, the verizon center and chinatown within walking distance. There is a place to buy tickets & pick up for the double decker sight seeing bus tour just 1 block from the hotel. For us we walked mostly everywhere, didn't need the car much. I would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"First Time in the Nations Capitol"
The staff was really friendly, the location is the best part right in the heart of downtown, near the Metro, the Mall, the White House. Although i had trouble getting hot water after midnight. At least it wasn't cold last weekend. The room is comfortable, not modern or chic, but you're hardly there anyway. But i would recommend it for anyone who wants […] an economy room in a great location! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Economical and convenient"
Had a handy mini fridge, two queen beds and a nice corner room/view of the city, water in the shower was lava hot (if so desired); but I somehow booked a smoking room on accident - but I was able to open the windows and it was fine. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was great but there were distinct old food & urine smells in the lobby & hallways. The room was tiny and the bed was super hard & uncomfortable. This was fine for my 1 night stay because I was walking distance from everything j needed to do. But I would not go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"the price is right"
The hotel's a bit shabby, but clean and quiet. It has sort of a youth hostel atmosphere, and the staff is very friendly. No frills, but you can't argue with the price and the location. The only downside was the lack of hot water on my last morning there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not at all worth the money."
The room was horrible. Not at all worth the money! There is no parking other than 5 blocks away, that cost more money to park overnight than anyone else--and was told that they validated (otherwise I would have used somewhere closer and less expensive), no ice machine on the floor I was staying on, the room was in complete disrepair, we had to climb […] over the bed to get to the small amount of room left, the hall smelled like cigarettes and mold, the air conditioning in the room was insufficient, we could hear the people in the next room using the toilet at all hours of the night and there was nowhere to put our luggage. The only good thing about the stay was the location. VERY DISAPPOINTED and wish I could have stayed somewhere else! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was a little disgusted at first by the lobby. My room did not have a temperature control and this alarmed me in mid July that the air would not be sufficient. It was fine. The room was clean. Not fancy but for the price it was fine. Great location. If hotels had a wal mart, target or Macy's comparison. This would be a dollar store. I would shop there […] but realize I'm not going to get everything you expect at other big chains. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We chose the Harrington for its affordable price and perfect location - only a few blocks from the major DC sights and one block to the metro - but we also enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of a vintage hotel. The bed was comfortable. The room was very small, but it had a little fridge and a pot to heat water, so we didn't have to eat out all the time. "Not as advertised"
This hotel was advertised as family owned and refurbished, I saw no "family" and there was nothing refurbished about it. It was old and dingy and not clean. There was no electrical outlet in the bathroom and none close to a mirror. The air conditionining had to be adjusted by a maintence man who had to get on a ladder to close the vent. When I asked […] the manager a simple question he rolled his eyes at me and was dismissive. The lamp was broken, the wirelss spotty and the hair dryer pitiful. I would not stay here again. "Good local. Not too costly. Not great facility"
Fine but pretty low-quality physical amenities. No shampoo in the shower. Weird air conditioning setup.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was clean which we were looking for. We knew that the hotel was old. Excellent location to where we wanted to site see. We had no hot water the first night but was corrected right away. Staff was very helpful. Harriets was closed on numerous times for large groups of kids so we sampled the local resturants which was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location; good front desk"
Before booking at the Harrington, I read some of the reviews. Who cares if you don't get free shampoo? The hotel is old, the rooms are old, but it's squeaky clean, there are no bugs, the beds are comfortable and you've got cable. Plus, the front desk people are awesome! Polite and friendly and very helpful. Also, the folks in the little gift shop will […] help you book tours. The hotel is very convenient to everything. Skip Harriet's Restaurant - rude and untrained waitresses and the food's not very good. Harry's Bar is a step up, but for really good food and friendly service, go for Ollie's Trolley around the corner. Great burgers and a fish sandwich to die for!!! "Harrington Hotel-Not for the finicky"
After checking the reviews, I had some idea what to expect…the rooms were clean…was surprised to learn air conditioning didn’t exist in the floors above the 6th floor so we had a ceiling fan…I would’ve been upset if it was August! Rooms were surprisingly sound proof, even if the sounds from flushing of the toilet would wake the dead. I brought extension […] cords and coffee pot, and was glad I did! "Great Location, could use a facelift"
The key asset of this hotel is that it's close to all the D.C. museums and memorials. It could use a renovation to clean it up, but you are paying for the location not the room. I visited DC for business and found this hotel perfectly located, which allowed me to add some sightseeing to my trip. The hotel offers a bar-restaurant, a diner and a small convenient store. The rooms are small and the bathrooms remind me of 1930s decor, which was an added bonus. I plan to stay here for all future trips to DC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and Basic"
I was attending a conference at the Convention Center. The Harrington was very convenient and well-priced for DC. I had a room with windows onto the building well, so my room was perfectly quiet. The room was basic, but clean and just fine for one. "The hotel harrington, good location but very old"
I lived first in comfort inn and then hotel harrington this time in DC. Hotel harrington is too too old. Comfort inn would be at least a 4 star hotel if you give hotel harrington a 2 star rating. The location is great but the size of the room is not bad, but the furniture, blanket and most stuff inside the room all looks older than your great grandpa. […] The bed gives noise if you move in it. There is no wifi in the room. You can only access internet in the lobby. The TV is 18 inches and only comes with basic channels. "Basic, Outdated Hotel in Great Location"
Stayed at Harrington Hotel for one night because of its convenient location near the National Mall, White House and other major attractions and close proximity to the orange, blue and red metro lines. The hotel rate was very cheap for DC, but then again you get what you pay for. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The room itself was clean but […] its outdated decor gave it grungy feel. The A/C vent above the bed also had not been cleaned in quite some time so there was a built up of dust on it and the ceiling surrounding it. Besides a very very tiny bar of soap, the hotel did not provide any of the other essential toiletries (e.g., shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.). The bed wasn't comfortable and you could feel the springs so I didn't get a great night's sleep. The walls are also paper thin so you can hear people in the hall and the opening and closing doors throughout the night. I would only recommend this hotel to someone who needs a place to crash for one night and doesn't plan on being in the room except to sleep and shower. Its an extremely basic hotel and not meant for any type of extended stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel is old and has not been updated for some time, however its convenience to major tourist attractions and reasonable price (compared to other downtown options) make it a good deal. If you like any frills you won't like this. (no wifi on upper floors)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staying in DC on short notice can be very expensive when seeking a nearby hotels to your intended meetings. Thats about all that the HArrington offers. "Hotel Harrington, Washington DC"
The Location is definitely what I appreciated most with this hotel! Hotel Harrington is located just a few blocks from the White House. It is in connection with great public transportaion to the Capitol area and other nearby must-sees! There's also some shopping areas close by the Hotel and a Breakfast restaurant located right next door. Parking was […] available just a few blocks down. Okay, I guess....Excellent location, close to numerous DC sites. Problems are with parking, as the hotel's parking lot is approximately 8 blocks away. "HARRINGTON HOTEL in D.C. - close to Mall and H St"
I selected this hotel because it was close to 11th and H Street NW where the conference I attended was located. Harrington Hotel is an older but charming hotel and the rates were very reasonable. I liked that it was just a few blocks away from everything I wanted to walk to, including restaurants, Macy's, the Mall, etc. At night and during the day the […] hotel was quiet so I was able to work and read in my room. Loading and unloading my car was very convenient. The people that worked at the hotel seemed friendly and knowledgeable. My room had a nice flat screen television, big windows, and excellent air conditioning. The only cons were: 1) the parking garage was four (4) blocks away and in the scorching July heat of D.C. even walking a few blocks is very miserable if you are wearing a business suit. However the parking garage was very reasonably priced and there would always be the option of taking a cab to get the garage (seemed unnecessary to take a cab 3 blocks just to stay in air conditioning!). 2) I would have liked a few more outlets in the room for my electronics, and there wasn't an outlet in the bathroom for my hairdryer. All minor points. I would definitely stay in this hotel again, for buisiness or for vacation. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
