We had a pleasant stay with our family of 4 at this hotel. The staff was helpful. We arrived a little early and they were able to accommodate us. The rooms were clean with plenty of light, though a little small. The house-keeping was great. It had all the amenities we were looking for... free onsite parking though limited space. Safe neighborhood. Wifi available, but a little slow. Danish and coffee available for breakfast, but there were plenty of local restaurants nearby if you're looking for something a little more substantial.

After booking I read some reviews...I know, a bit backwards. The reviews weren't the best so I didn't know what to expect when I got there but was surprised to see it was not as bad as they made it seem. Now don't get me wrong, this is not some 3 star hotel, but the room was clean and there were no bed bugs ( I brought buggybeds along once I read that […] review ). Andy was very helpful to us in finding our way using public transportation, suggesting places in the area to eat, etc. Very hospitable and accommodating of our needs. Room was clean and comfortable, directly on a bus route, many excellent restaurants nearby.

First reaction was not so good with having to use stairs to bring luggage up and rooms were a little small. The front desk clerk refused to return the credit card carbon imprint upon checkout (made me nervous about potential identity theft). The parking in the hotel lot was extremely tight & remodeling was in progress. Construction & remodeling materials were stacked in front of most of the parking stalls making it impossible to pull your car all the way […] forward. Our room did not have any windows other than one front one, which faced the parking courtyard & upstairs walkway, no elevator & lots of stairs. We were slightly apprehensive due to the previous reviews about this hotel, but our fears were unfounded. Our room was recently renovated, clean, and comfortable. The free parking was a definite asset, and we enjoyed our stay. If I were to come back to San Francisco, I would stay here again. You can't beat the value or the location. Very nicely updated. Furniture, decor and bathroom were all pretty nice. Fresh paint. Free parking is a big plus. The Expedia reservation said check in was at 2, but it was actually at 3pm, so we ended up waiting a few minutes for our room to be cleaned and ready. We were looking for a place with great location. Staying on lombart and van ness is your best bet. Close to fishermans wharf, Alcatraz pier, & the golden gate viewing area. The inn- great for the price. Plus free car parking.

This hotel has been the worst I've stayed in. I knew we would be staying in a low budget hotel, but I expected the hotel to be somewhat hospitable. The bathroom smelled like an alley way and had urine stains on the floor, door would not close shut. Curtain had mold. It was horrid. Carpet had stains and the walls were dirty also. The worst were the bed […] sheets. Not to mention the blanket.... I work in a psych hospital and these blankets were the same we use there!!!! We were woken up by dogs barking.... I can't remember if this is a pet friendly hotel, which I like. But if you are on vacation and want to sleep in. Don't stay in this hotel with thin walls that will wake you up with barking. Currently the hotel is undergoing rennovation, so there's a lot of work noise and materials and discarded hotel furniture in the courtyard. Sometimes there was no hot water at night. The room was very small and in need of upgrades and repairs. The lobby is about 4' x 4' and not very attractive with very limited amenities. The second night we found a baby cockroach IN THE BED! Immediately called down to the desk and they said that since it was after 5, the maintenance staff had left for the day and they could not […] get us new sheets/blankets. I thought this was insane. They said they'd clean the room the next day. Out of the 4 days that they stayed, the next day was the only day that the maids came to clean the room, take the trash out etc. Also, there were tiny little microscopic bugs crawling all over the bathroom. On the floors, on the counter, on our toiletries, in the shower. Everywhere. They looked like specs of dirt, but if you look closer, they crawl. We got a great deal with hotels.com on the room so we didnt complain much, and it really was in a wonderful location.... but this hotel definitely needs some work. Read more

It isnt the Hilton, but thats fine by me. The rooms were quaint, and very clean. The free parking feels safe due to its courtyard location, and was very useful. There isn't really a breakfast, but who wants to eat hotel waffles when there is the entirety of SF to explore for food?! The location was great, with quick access to the bus system for transportation […] to the beach, Haight-Ashbury, the Wharf, anything really. Plenty of food and walking on Lombard at night felt decently safe. Would certainly stay there again considering its more than reasonable prices! If traveling on a budget this is a good spot. Park your car and leave it there, you can walk all over the Marina or catch the MUNI #30 a block away that runs past Ghiradelli, Fishermans Warf, through North Beach and China Town to Union Square and the Convention Center.
