Park International Hotel

I was quite impressed with this hotel, after winding up here unexpectedly due to an extended layover in London. I stayed in the most basic of rooms, the Twin Superior as I believe it was called, and was impressed. The room size was quite small by American standards, but had all the conveniences of a normal hotel room with flat-screen TV, fridge, wi-fi, […] etc. The bathroom was nice and sizable, the bed comfortable, the A/C worked well and the breakfast was good and filling. Additionally, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful; they even lent me an adapter for the length of my stay free of charge. Good and safe location in Kensington near Kensington Palace, Harrods and only a four minute walk to the Gloucester Lane subway stop. My only real gripe about the hotel is that sound of doors slamming seemed to carry on through all hours of the day and night. Oddly, the walls did not seem so thin, but for whatever reason, each time someone closed a door nearby, it was near deafening. This is not so much of a con though for me to knock off more than one point from its rating. Read more

After reading the reviews for the Park International on hotels.com, I have to admit that I didn't know how much I would like the place. The price was right however, so we risked it. What a surprise it was when we got there to see that the hotel had changed ownership and it was now renovated! The hotel smelt new, the rooms were brand new, with clean […] fancy bathrooms, comfortable beds, flat screen TVs and new air conditioning system. We had bought a king suite, which was all the way in the back of the hotel where they were still doing some work outside of our window. There was no noise however. The breakfast was also included, which I don't think has been updated on the hotels.com review. Hot and cold English breakfast. There is also a nice bar and Thai restaurant at the hotel, which has a pre fixed menu for 15 pounds for hotel guests. So, for a nice new hotel, two blocks from the Picadilly line and surrounded by pubs and everything else that Kensignton has to offer, the price for this hotel is definitely right! Read more

We recently stayed 4 nights at the Park International Hotel in the South Kensington area of London. Our family consists of my husband and myself, plus our 2 grown children. We had 2 rooms. One of the rooms was a good-sized corner room with 3 windows. The other room was quite small. Both rooms looked like they were recently updated - very attractively […] decorated and modern. In addition, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast had something to offer for all tastes: breakfast meats, eggs, cereal, pastries, etc. Also, we were a 5-minute walk from the Gloucester Rd tube station. There's a small shopping center nearby with a grocery store, restaurants, drugstore, etc. This hotel is really situated in a nice area and it felt very safe walking back from the tube late at night. I would highly recommend the Park International Hotel. The one negative about staying here: very expensive to use the lobby computer. We found this to be true, though, at every hotel we stayed in on this trip (Dublin, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow). Maybe it's a European thing? Park International Hotel is very close to Gloucester Tube St (4min) and Earls Court Tube st. (6min). The hotel has refurbishment works that it is a problem as they start the noise in the morning. Hopefully when the works finished the hotel will be OK. Location is very good, nearby Sainsbury is open late. Marriott hotel is nearby 5 star.

It's always best to start with the positive so - this hotel is in a great location to access the tube, several museums and other areas of London. The tube closest to us had 3 lines. There is a post office right by the tube station and there were 2 supermarkets 1 block away from the hotel. We got free b'fast with our reservation and it was a very good […] spread and well attended to. Now for the bad part - the hotel is currently under major renovation so that's the first bad thing. A scaffolding went up right outside our window - luckily it was the last night of our stay - otherwise, we would have had men standing outside our window banging away at 8:00AM. A portion of the hotel was blocked off and much banging and drilling would begin every morning at 8:00AM. Admittedly, we were far enough from the area to not hear it in our room, but it would definitely have been a problem once the work commenced outside our window. We booked a king room but when we arrived, were given a double - tiny, w/ a shower half the size of a London telephone booth - and told we wouldn't get a king till the next evening. Very inconvenient as we wanted to unpack and settle in. A meager compensation was given only after I asked for it - a free drink for each of us in the adjacent restaurant/bar. The king room was a fairly good size room but there was a constant smell of mildew and dampness, even w/ the window open and AC on (mind you, this was in Feb). The bathroom was decent but lacked in hooks and bars, which one needs for hanging clothes and towels. There was a tub but only a fabric curtain - no liner - and during a shower, the curtain would billow in and stick to you - not pleasant. We were told there was free wi-fi in the lobby and I was able to access it the first evening, but not again after that. When I asked the front desk, no one knew how to access it for me. My friend and I arrived at the hotel before check-in time but they were able to provide one of the two rooms for us early which was very nice. The rooms were clean although the carpet in one was very stained. We did have problems with the TV's and the A/C's as they only worked sporadically in one of the two rooms. Room was as I read in other reviews. A little dated and could use updating. It was comfortable for a triple, and despite being on the Cromwell Road side, was quiet enough at night on the 3rd floor. Location was great with it being about 1.5 blocks from a tube station. Tiny cafe across the street and a grocery a block away were convenient. It worked fine for my short to medium length hair, but my daughter and her friend with long hair had some hair sucked into the hair dryer, and it only ran a few mins. for them before shutting off. I asked for another hair dryer, they brought one up and looked at the wall unit. After we returned that night the wall unit was back on the wall and the extra dryer was gone. I asked for the extra one because we were checking out the next morning, but they could not locate an extra one. The wall unit worked fine for me in the morning. Read more

It has an excellent location safe and close to the Gloucester Rd tube station and is within walking distance of the museums and Harrods and Kensington. Also has shops (Waitrose, Boots, Sainsburys etc ) very close and plenty of places to eat ranging from Burger King and Nandos to pubs and nice restaurants and also covers Italian, Indian, Thai, steaks […] etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel is spotless. We stayed in a double room to the side of the hotel. It was really comfortable, not loads of room but really and quiet. Bathroom had a good shower and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast was substantial and of good quality with a wide variety of cold and cooked choices There was no free Internet access in the bedrooms but there seemed to be a free PC for use at the bottoms of our stairs. Happy recommending this hotel to anyone and would certainly stay there again. Not excellent but reasonably good value for the money taking all into account. Read more

Hotel was lovely but if you are offered a room in the basement make sure the entertainment is not on. We were right over the top of the piano and disco, that was terrible, the base was so loud it was vibrating the heating system in our room.

We booked last minute during the Olympic fortnight and we chose hotel as it was so near to the tube and included breakfast, which you have to pay extra for in other London hotels. The location was great, lovely area and lots of places to eat and a big supermarket just next to tube. Very easy to get to Hyde Park, Kensington, Buckingham Palace, Oxford […] Street. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, we got in our room early with an upgrade.
