I come to the area every 12 weeks, and this adorable inn! I look forward to staying here and would love to come back with my family. Everything a business traveler would need. Only complaint is self parking is $7 / night. I enjoy the themed rooms, the unique décor, the pub and fireplace on the first floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very quite and clean Hotel, fast check in"
Outstanding place to stay, enjoyed the King size room. Staff was very nice, friendly and fast to help with the check in of the room. Very different theme of hotel but at the same time very comfortable setting.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was in town for business and stayed over to see some sights. The Cheshire was very convenient to Forest Park, and the staff was friendly and knowledgable about local restaurants and attractions. the bar was good and had good food; the hotel was clean and comfortable. when all the local attractions were closed due to snow, I was made to feel very welcome […] to relax in common areas and read until I needed to leave for the airport, even thought I had already checked out. Everything about the hotel was great except for the parking. Hotel staff was efficient and friendly. The room was clean. The English authors theme was an interesting touch that made it special. The breakfast was delicious. The only thing that was bad to the point of horrible was the parking. The hotel shared parking with the next door resturant of the […] same name which apparently was very popular because there were no parking spaces to be found. A space finally opened up and the charge was $ 7.00 per night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Unique Hotel"
Cheshire is not far from the Delmar Loop area (includes The Pageant, and lots of cool little bars and restaurants). It's a really neat place - liked the olde english style. Very comfortable lobby - fireplace, overstuffed furniture, stained glass windows and even a giant stuffed and mounted bear in the corner - like being in an old manor house. Cozy […] and inviting pub with fireplace, comfy furniture - great place for a nightcap. Room was clean, stylish (unique combination of antique and modern furniture, modern bath & fixtures) bed was very comfortable, bathroom was very large (and nice!) - everything we needed was in the room. Staff was very polite and efficient. Continental breakfast was more upscale (flaky croissant pastries, meat and cheese tray, fresh fruit) than most - but be sure you're there before 9 am! Fresh coffee and hot tea were always available in the breakfast area. Overall - a great stay & we will definitely return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to the Pageant"
We really enjoyed staying at the Cheshire because it was so close to the Pageant. The staff was incredibly polite and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The only complaint I had was that it took too long in the middle of the night for the motion sensor light in the bathroom to turn offGenuine Hotels.com guest review
While it's a very nice hotel, I surprised that there were no electrical outlets on or close to the desk. Also, for a 4 star hotel, the towels should have been larger and robes should have been provided.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great stay here. Hotel has a great feel overall and our room was very nice. Our van was too tall for their parking garage and they quickly made other arrangements for us to park. We were very satisfied with the service. Fox and Hounds Tavern was also great. I would visit again and would recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to work and many sightseeing attractions"
I stayed to avoid a commute in bad weather, but the stay was enjoyable, the staff went out of their way to be helpful, and the choice of four restaurants on-site made a convenience stay a needed break from the routine! I would absolutely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun, Unique Hotel"
We stayed at the hotel for a wedding I attended in St. Louis - I loved the British theme that runs through the whole complex. Our party got snowed in an extra night and even though many staff members couldn't make it to the hotel, the ones that did were extremely gracious. Great restaurants on site and you can't beat having a drink by the fire place […] in the Fox & Hound tavern. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
great themed place with plenty to do on the hotel grounds. in fact, if you need a getaway and some relaxing time without having to leave a hotel, I highly suggest this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Cheshire Review"
Overall I think it was average 3.5 out of 5.0. The room had large amounts of dust, and the cleaning was sub standard. The hotel front desk and social life was great though. I enjoyed the stay but several things were lacking in the experience at "The Cheshire". The price was was 33% higher than what the rate should have been.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a great visit and a very charming hotel. Will be returning again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely Hotel With English Decor"
The Cheshire is very warm and inviting, has lovely English decor, and each room is named for a famous British writer (with one of his/her books in the room for your enjoyment). We stayed just one night, but enjoyed a delicious dinner and a lovely breakfast. The hotel is located near many St. Louis attractions, including Forest Park. We enjoyed a walk […] in the park on Sunday morning before departure. Bikes were also made available to us, but the temps were just a bit too chilly for that. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Customer Service, Poorly Kept Hotel"
I expected a Luxury Hotel as advertised...this is not what we got. Don't waste your money staying here..find a La Quinta and you'll be happier! We got to St. Louis a little early so I decided to see if we could go ahead and check in early. The front desk allowed this and were quite helpful, however, the room she assigned us was DISGUSTING! There was […] dust over the furniture and splattered blood on the bathroom mirror-it definitely was not cleaned properly. The manager was very helpful and upgraded our room to an Epic Poolside King Room. There remained a small amount of dust on the headboard of the bed and we found a 'Happy Birthday' confetti by the bed. The room appears to be filled with nice accessories but in fact they are cheap or at least not well maintained. The bathroom faucet moved side to side, the motion detector light in the bathroom went off while using the commode and taking a shower, we found rust in the shower and in the room. The furniture was scratched and missing paint as well as the door frame. The rooms have very thin walls-we stayed near the bar and could hear music until 1 am. Then around 4:45 am I was awakened by loud neighbors. I could even hear their phone ring!! We also traveled with a pet. The hotel advertises a Pet Perks package-we never received this even after calling the front desk. On check out we told the receptionist and he gladly took of the pet charge. Breakfast was sub-par;mainly upset because the fresh fruit was not washed AT ALL!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"One of a kind hotel with very quaint features"
Love the hotel, restaurants and excellent staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was a little dusty. The person at the desk was telling the person in front of us that the bathroom light is automatic so for 1 night I was on all night. Later we found the switch.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A Unique Adventure"
Choose the Cheshire for a truly one of a kind hotel experience. The location is excellent for exploring St. Louis as it's only a minute from the freeway to go to all attractions, yet completely quiet at night for a perfect nights sleep. The hotel itself is the most creative and unique I have stayed in, completely satisfied with our visit. **ONLY downside: […] the corners of the bed frame extend a foot beyond the mattress and the rich dark color makes it difficult to see. I banged my shin mightily against the post the first night. I put a pillow under the mattress to hang over the corner so I could visually see how far out it went and didn't hit it afterwards. Definitely put something there immediately to be able to see it. My girlfriend and I both had a laugh afterwards though** Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"COMFORTABLE AND INTERESTING"
Jacobean style hotel with each room named after a famous writer. Despite the common areas that look like something out of a renaissance fair, each guestroom is modern and well appointed. The beds are very comfortable and comforters scrumptious. Bathrooms are modern and have all modern amenities. Great hotel especially if you are a literary connoisseur. The Cheshire hotel and staff were awesome and we enjoyed our stay very much. I stay in a lot of chain hotels and it gets tiring, but I felt very comfortable and more "homey" at this property. The staff made us feel exceptional and special and truly made our anniversary one to remember.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming and Rich"
Decorated and themed with British literary culture, this hotel offers a never-ending feast for the eyes from the rustic exterior to the woodwork, plaster, and hanging art throughout. It's definitely worth a stay. That being said, we were less than satisfied with the cleanliness of our room. All surfaces were covered with a fine layer of dust and there […] was hair in the lightly-grime-stained tub. There was no remote control for the television upon arrival but a quick call to the front desk had a replacement to our door within minutes. The bedclothes were soft and comfortable but the mattress wasn't the softest or most luxurious. Our room was on the North (Clayton Rd) side of the hotel so there was a lot of road noise but I still got a good night of sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute hotel, great rooms!"
Stayed here before an interview at St. Mary's hospital (so close I was able to walk there!). "Check the Room Before you unpack"
Walking into the first room I started to unpack and went to the bathroom to place my items when I viewed Body Hair all over the bathroom. The floors were sticky and their was terd marks in the toliet. The Hotel placed me in a new room but this one had food crumbs all over the Carpet. We loved the decor and overall "feel" of the hotel. It was EXTREMELY quiet, something that hotels of new construction severely lack. The service was awesome. Very friendly and helpful. Need a not so fancy breakfast. And new maids. Dust in our room and in the couner of the bathroom lots of dust bunnies. The need to clean room a little better. Overall great service and liked the decor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel, but thin walls"
Thin walls. Loud guests in the next room at 1:00am. We had to leave our air conditioner fan on to try and drown the sound out. Front desk asked them to quiet down, but that didn't last long.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Different Theme hotel"
The hotel was interesting, quite different than most. Comfortable and friendly enough. Rooms are titled with writers names, a bit gimmicky. Public spaces are welcoming and breakfast is nicely done. I think its a 3 to 3.5 star hotel. Basso pub next door is quite good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Even better than I expected"
The Cheshire was a delightful place to stay. The decor is unlike any hotel I have ever seen -- art, antiques around every corner creates an atmosphere of historical whimsy. The hotel has a four diamond award from AAA. The rooms are all named after famous authors or play writes. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The bed was comfortable and the […] bathroom was modern and spotless. I ate in the pub downstairs and had a great hamburgers actually cooked to perfect medium rare. Their drink list was inventive and I can recommend the tweedledee and the mint julep. This stay was a pleasant surprise and I hope to return next time I am in St. Louis. "Not as nice as I expected"
I wanted to love this hotel but too many little things prevented it. We stayed 3 nights, and the only housekeeping done in our room was to provide clean towels. The beds weren't made, the carpet was not vacuumed, the tub and sink were'nt cleaned, the glass-topped tables were not wiped down and the tile floor was not mopped. The public areas were not […] kept up any better - the floors were dirty, the elevators were dirty and tired-looking and the courtyard outside our window was full of leaves and rubbish. Lastly, the continental breakfast was a disappointment - served for 3 hours or so, when we arrived each morning halfway through, there were no plates or bowls, no silverware and the fruit and hot entree trays were empty. Nothing was replenished until someone went to the front desk to request it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A Hotel with Character"
The Cheshire was a quaint hotel for my husband and me. The literature theme was exciting, and I was thrilled with the decorating in the common areas of the hotel: stately pieces combined with small but delightful accents. My husband liked that the hotel was relatively quiet: no disruptive guests on our floor. It just wasn't a typical hotel, and the […] change of pace was nice for our weekend. Our room wasn't as fancy as the photos advertise, and it wasn't spotless like most chain hotels strive to be (we found dust on the bathroom counter and dirty carpeting), but at least the Cheshire had character! We could only stay for one night, but it was an easy drive to Busch Stadium, Walmart, the St. Louis Zoo and Art Museum, and various churches. One note to keep in mind: at least some of the rooms do not have a microwave or a refrigerator, so come prepared with a cooler if you plan to keep leftovers from dinner in town. I would love to go back to the Cheshire, because although the price was a little high and the room wasn't as extremely clean, the staff was polite, the complimentary breakfast was very well done, and the experience of something different was worth it! Our stay felt more like we were welcomed guests rather than expected customers. With the variety of room themes I saw just on our floor, I wonder which author/work we will get next time we visit! I took photos of our room and the common areas to remember--how often do you do that with any other hotel? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is located within 2 minutes of Forest Park and the Art Museum, Zoo, and other attractions. The neighborhoods nearby are upscale and within 5 minutes is a large upscale mall and shopping complex. The front desk staff was very friendly and offered all kinds of assistance. This is an older style hotel and it looks like it has been around for […] awhile but it is clean and comfortable. My room was well appointed and spotless. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom amenities way better than average. No complaints about my room at all. The only complaint I had was with breakfast. When I hotel states breakfast in their advertising, I expect a hot breakfast. That was not available here. They did have rolls, pastries, and cereals, so if that's all you require, they have it and you can eat in a long narrow room, a little too confining for me, but nice just the same. All in all, a very nice place to stay and I would highly recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Comfortable rooms, great breakfast, underground pk"
We were visiting historic landmarks in the area and chose this hotel because of the themed rooms/atmosphere. The room was absolutely tiny and had full sized matresses set atop of queen sized bed frames. I had bruises all up my leg because I kept hitting them on the solid wood posts sticking out. The bathroom had hair from previous guests all over the floor. The staff were extremely snobby but had worn out clothes, some with holes in them, so I have no idea […] who they though they were. The drinks were overpriced and watered down. I guess the deal you get on this website has cheaper rooms set off to the side for those of us who apparently fall into the worthless category, since we only have $200 to fork out. I would presume there are nicer rooms sine the pictures posted would have you believe so, but you had better be able to afford it. "Weird hotel too close to highway."
The hotel was right off the main highway with a not so pleasing view of the highway. They offered an okay breakfast but not much room service. "Best Hotel in STL"
The staff was very helpful. I was a picky customer because I wanted my stay to be a romantic date night. They filled my high expectations to a T. Not once, from the front desk to the house keeping, did I experience someone who wasn't fully dedicated to making this hotel as perfect and friendly as possible. Their breakfast is titled "continental breakfast" […] so I expected some crappy coffee, cereal, and stale bagels because that's what most hotels serve. I was pleasantly surprised to find their bread selection to be very fresh. They also had fresh fruits including raspberries, and a goat cheese (among others) spread for the bagels. I had two cups of quality tea and some Activa (I drink I would never expect in a hotel. The pool is wonderful. You'd have to see it yourself. It's very classy. They also have a great selection of restaurant and live music sometimes. The rooms are all very unique so you'll never get the same experience twice, and many of the hotel's furnishings are original pieces found through out Europe by the owners. I highly recommend the Cheshire STL. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
