What a great place to stay. Staff was amazing especially Lawenda!!! Continental breakfasts were amazing - fresh bakery - fresh coffee all day (Starbucks) and continuing great service. Place is fashioned after an English hotel and all the rooms were named for someone in English History - ie Sherlock Holmes Room - and you received a bookmark commemorating […] that room/story!! All in all would go back there in a heartbeat! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The most memorable hotel experiences I've had"
One of the most memorable stays at a hotel I've ever had. Where else can you meet such cool staff who provide you a scavenger hunt, butter beer, and an experience you'll never forget. If you like normal hotels, this might not be for you, but if you like something unique, quirky, and memorable, definitely go here. You won't forget it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't believe everything you see online"
Their version of a panoramic view of the city was a giant AMACO sign outside the bedroom, no tub, when I told them how the room was portrayed on line, the told me I should have booked directly through them and not hotels.com because when you book through Hotels.com you get the less desirable rooms, I told the first clerk, and she told me to book direct […] to get the "good rooms" the second clerk gave me the manager's card, and I intend to write him. They were short of bell hops and valet service was almost unavailable. totally disappointing.. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Disappointing place. Old and tired looking. Staff was courteous. The first room we were sent into had an awful nauseating smell, likely from a cleaning product. We asked and were moved to another room which didn't smell.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great unique experience. Not meant for the extremely modern.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely updated Cheshire!"
We came to St.Louis for my Grandaughters birthday party. We found the hotel to be updated and very lovely. The bathroom is very nice. They did a great job updating the vanity and shower. The new furnishings carpet/wood floors and bedding were very nice as well. We ate brunch in the restaurant and the service and food was fantastic! I would recommend […] The Cheshire to anyone who would enjoy the quiet comforts, and lovely surroundings that they offer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Cheshire A Must!"
This was a quaint older hotel with lovely character. Each of the rooms were author themed. While the bathroom could have used a better deep cleaning it was passable. The beds were very clean and very comfortable. After a long day exploring St. Loius it was a lovely and safe place to return to. The staff was very helpful and friendly. A fully stocked […] continental breakfast with pastries made in house and locally toasted coffee self served in a darling breakfast nook were the perfect start to our busy days. Friendly service. Enjoyed Basso and the classic guitar music performance on 3/11/15.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderfully quirky and comfortable."
This place is wonderfully individual in it's decor, but also extremely comfortable and quite attractive. There's even a scavenger hunt that leads you around to different floors to find uniques objects among the furnishings. There's also a fun English pub-style bar and an adjacent restaurant, which we didn't try, but it looked very nice and was packed […] for Sunday brunch. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Greatly Unique Stay"
We truly enjoy the uniqueness of this hotel. The Old English decor was very pretty and we enjoyed just being in the lobby areas with the fireplace and time to relax in a quiet place. We will definitely return. It was a comforting place especially being there as a place to stay near our hospital. Our friends will hear about it. Steve, Salem, ILGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I stayed at The Cheshire for a nice weekend get-a-way. The valet employees always called my husband and I by our names and remembered us. The staff was very friendly and inviting. We had a few questions about the area and they answered them and gave percise directions to places. We will be back! We have already recommended The Cheshire […] to several friends and family members. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Drafty old hotel with a ton of character"
Traveling to St Louis for business I was intrigued by the uniqueness and character of this hotel. Front desk staff was amazing and the hotel was definitely not a corporate chain hotel. Based on some gorgeous photos in the lobby I got the feeling this was the place to be years ago but it's glory might have faded as the city changed. My room was drafty […] and the walls paper thin--I could hear every word said in the room next door. I would honestly stay here again on the merits of staff and history alone, but there were definitely some drawbacks. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, but be cautious of the parking"
Loved everything about the hotel, except the parking. Both the lot and garage are fairly small, and by that I mean the spaces themselves. Particularly in the garage, I found it INCREDIBLY difficult to park if you didn't have at least one extra space open for maneuverability, and I drive a Challenger, so I'm not sure how tough it may/may not be for an […] SUV or truck. It's an older hotel, so I can't really hold it against them, but it's something to be wary of. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great hotelnwith very friendly staff. Its nice to stay someplace with character and that is not a chain. Would definitely recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel is old English style build in 1960s, furniture were old but cozy. The walls are very thin and something was wrong with Mattress that caused lower back pain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice stay at a charming but old hotel"
Our only complaint was that we were in a room with the outside temperature at eight degrees. The insulation around a large window was poor and made that side of the room uncomfortably cold. The service was excellent. I noticed that the bottom sheets on the beds was not wide enough to tuck in under the mattress and bunched up while we slept.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Cheshire - Still A Crown Jewel after 45 Years!"
I entertained customers for 2 days. The environment is both classy and low keyed. I have stayed at this facility for over 45 years and it is still in mint condition. Beautifully maintained and convenient to our business at the Medical CenterGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved the hotel! My kids really enjoyed the scavenger hunt too!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everyone at the front desk was very friendly. The food in the restaurant was amazing (try the Pork Belly!) The beds were cozy and clean. The restroom was clean. I wish I had been closer to more night life, but we had a great time anyway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"In town for Play at Peabody"
Wonderful location and easy to get in and out of for locations in downtown St. Louis. Wonderful staff and nice to have starbucks and gas station right next door. The only issue we had was with the mattress. It sank in the middle which caused me to roll into the center and I woke up with a sore back. Beautiful room other than that and a barking dog.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Another night at the Cheshire"
Best place to stay in STL. Great restaurants attached and in walking distance. Walking distance to Zoo, Art Museum and the rest of Forest Park attractions. Also neighbors the amazing Hi Pointe theater.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"perfect weekend getaway"
quick, last minute get away. Restaurant next door was incredible. After our show downtown we went back to Tavern at hotel. Staff made it a perfect night. Will stay again when back in St. Louis!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel but thin walls"
Excellent stay. Only complaint would be that the walls are very very thin. Could hear everything from the room next door. Otherwise, an excellent hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"We love The Cheshire!"
I love pretty much everything about this hotel except the water pressure, which is truly weak. The British writers theme is fun, the decor is committed, and the pub downstairs is dark and yummy. The Loop (cute hipster neighborhood) is a short drive, but definitely a drive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice room, terrible meal"
Hotel itself was fine, but the room service was awful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great old world decor and a very hospitable staff. Wonderful fireplaces in the lounge and lobby. We go here anytime we are headed to St Louis.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I expected...."
don't expect a nice bathroom like the ones listed on hotels.com---those only come with the Novelty Suites, which you can't book through hotels.com! I was very disappointed when I got there and saw a VERY tiny bathroom with a very small tub.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Quirky little place with lots of character and wonderful staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A fun unique experience"
We loved all of the unique features of the hotel, but we had a few minor annoyances. The HVAC unit in the room was making some clangy noises throughout the night, and we were awoken by a landscape crew using a leaf blower around 8am.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"30 Year Anniversary"
Everyone at Cheshire are very friendly and succeeded in making our Anniversary weekend a success. Upon arrival they had a white horse with carriage available for free rides. I really wanted to take them up on their offer, but we were running too close on time. We had tickets to see Garth Brooks and had to head out to the concert. In our room, they had […] champagne chilling and they had even upgraded us to a Suite ! When we arrived back from our concert, they had strawberries dipped in chocolate with the words....Happy 30th Anniversary on a plate. Breakfast the next morning was in front of a fireplace. The entire hotel smells of this awesome wood burning fireplace. One of my favorite things. This is the only hotel I will stay at in St. Louis from now on. They are all fantastic ! "Love, sort of"
I admit to loving this hotel... It's rooms are well decorated, the staff really friendly and the hotel bar one of the best you'll ever go to... Sadly, the details are where the problems lay... The rooms could use an overall cleaning... They need a mini-bar and if not that a fridge and the state of staffing has them missing out on a lot of basics, like […] cleaning my room, providing towels and replenishing basics... I really do like this hotel and will likely stay again, but they really do need someone managing things and setting standards... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotel was super cute. They had a nice contintal breakfast with a lot to choose from. And my sister and i had been flying all day and they let us check in a couple hours early which was great because we were tired. The downfall was that our room was so dusty!! Like layers of dust behind the bed, dresser and desk. Even the TV had dust!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was very pleased with this hotel the biggest problem I had was I kept requesting a microwave and they never could accommodate me. I'm use to 4 star hotels having microwaves in the room. I was somewhat disappointed with my stay. Room did not smell good, and there were "icky" stains on the pillow shams and chair. I left for the day from 8:30 am-8:30 pm.,and returned to the room to find it had never been cleaned. Front desk staff was nice, as was complimentary breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old English charm"
The clock was not set to the correct time and was too difficult to figure out. The bathroom sink water never got hot. The front desk staff was very courteous. It seemed odd to have to pay for self-parking. The staff at Bosso restaurant service and food was great and the 20% discount really was a great deal. We appreciated it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
