It was very nice. I just don't like the idea that we get charge to park our car on the hotel parking lot. We did stay at the hotel then, yet we pay $7.00 to park their own parking lot. The bathroom is so small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cleanliness & Maintenance"
The staff were friendly and courteous. I also thought the hotel was safe. Unfortunately, the sheets were not cleaned and the lights in the bathroom did not work. The breakfast ran out of coffee and was not well maintained. In retrospect, I was surprised the hotel had such a high rating. I would not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"My favorite place for business trips to WashU"
Third time I've stayed here this year. Unique, charming, great food, great staff, and an incredibly comfortable room. Love it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Fabulous Weekend"
The Chelshire is one of the most charming hotels I have stayed in. We spent an entire day by the pool with our adult sons and the comfortable accommodations and service could not have been better. The hotel is near the Washington University Campus, and all of the activity centers at Forest Park. For this visit it suited us perfectly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pool side service could have been a little better. Room was cool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"What a Gem!"
I don't leave reviews, but feel compelled to leave a review for the Cheshire. Our expectations were exceeded at our recent 5 night stay for a family wedding. The rooms were comfortable, with soft sheets and the hotel staff was very friendly, not only at check in but as you came and went from the hotel. The Euro-breakfast (think fruit, yogurt, rolls, […] cheese, etc) is nice, and the juice/milk bar was helpful for our toddler who wanted milk in the evenings. We had drinks one time at the Tavern, dinner outside another night that we carried back to the hotel, and the pool was hopping all the time. I will definitely stay at the Cheshire again. Quant Cheshire Inn is located within easy access to everything we needed for a 4 day stay. Kids enjoyed the pool as much as adults, fun themed rooms were just the right size. Too bad the yappy little dog in 322 wasn't as happy as I was...I would have been able to sleep past 5am otherwise. Maintenance on the 2nd elevator was noisy, but other than that, […] the stay was enjoyable with friendly service, an OK breakfast bar & easy access to restaurants. The pool was great- only downside was not enough lounge chairs. Location was perfect, restaurants and bar were great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel, while quite a distance from downtown, was amazing! The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautiful, and have a little added bonus of being named after great English authors! Sitting poolside for the day was also a lovely little luxury! I'd go again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This could be a first class establishment, but we found many faults, the worst being the cleanliness. This place needs to be detailed, there were areas that have never seen a cleaning tool. There were other guest's hairs in our bathroom, and the corners and baseboard trim were filthy. The eating utensils in the breakfast room were dirty and the tables […] were not kept clean between guests. The breakfast was adequate, although some of the fruit was moldy, and the staff had trouble keeping everything replenished in a timely manner. Watch out for the bed frame corners in your room that are wider than the mattress, and are easy to walk into, so we stuffed pillows into each corner to avoid walking into them. Refrigerators and microwaves are available upon request, REALLY? We tried for 2 days to get one, told it was available on the 2nd day and would be delivered, it never was, then we were told there were none available so we gave up on that one. Only one elevator was operable, so there was usually a wait. There are some positive things to say about The Cheshire. The staff was pleasant and friendly, the decor and antiques added to the ambiance of the hotel's historic theme, the on site restaurants were very good, and the location is close to Forest Park and a couple of the universities. Overall, for the rate of this hotel, there could be much improvement. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great, friendly staff. Exactly what we were looking for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After spending all night driving around St.Louis and having a previous reservation at another hotel that was not a safe environment at all. We were so happy to finally get to the Cheshire. The staff was friendly and professional. There was a nice aura to the place that made us feel safe. We were excited about the themed rooms and the entire hotel was […] nice and in good shape! If we ever go back to St.Louis we will be staying here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect place to relax away from the city"
It was far enough away from the actual city to relax, but close enough where you could drive in 10 minutes to get in the heart of St Louis! Great Price, and WONDERFUL place to stay! Loved how homey it was!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not so clean room, weird shower, hot room."
The room wasn't bad, but it shouldn't have been better for the price. There was "stuff" on the toilet seat, some nastiness on the wall above the trash can. The shower was just a hand held shower, with a seat in it. The shower floor was even with the rest of the bathroom floor, so when you showered it got half the bathroom floor soaked. The AC worked […] but not very well, it was hot all night. Also the breakfast itself was ok, but there is limited seating by the breakfast area so we sat in the bar area. We got kicked out of there bcs "there might be a manager looking." I explained to the guy that we were almost finished and we would clean up any mess, but still was removed from the table. All in all pretty bad experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great spot to stay in St. Louis"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Justin the front desk clerk was super helpful with all of our requests and being centrally located to Forest Park, the Zoo and easy access all over made this a great spot to stay. We WILL be going back and will recommend people this is worth your time to stay there!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bush Stadium-Grandsons played on field after Cards"
My parents and I enjoyed the whole stay. The staff was very helpful. I enjoyed what small amount of time I got to spend in the facility.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst service ever"
The first room we had was not clean and even had flip flops that were left from someone else. There was hair was under the covers. The second room had a sensor for the bathroom light that would get triggered by the AC every 20 minutes or so so I had to unscrew light bulbs in order to get rest. The Breakfast was awful and unsanitary. They had turkey, […] cheese and ham slices that you had to serve with your hands. The napkins were kept on a dusty windowsill. When we made these complaints when we check out, the front desk said there's nothing they can do about it and to contact hotels.com. I don't normally complain about this stuff online but this place was overpriced and across the board terrible. I'm not sure how they got good rating considering just how bad it was. Should've stayed at a Motel 6. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"We will come back"
Great quick getaway, food, and service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Ok so it's a very cool and unique concept. Interesting. Not like any place I've been. There appeared to be a ventilation issue and redistributing other people's hair in our bathroom. Day #1 upon entrance to room noticed all sorts of hair (not ours) in bathroom, glued to shower walls, etc. I wiped some of them up myself. Day #2 more new hairs appear […] in bathroom (not ours). Not real happy with that. Good have been cleaner for sure. But unique concept of English hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"way over priced"
bathroom was dirty. they charged my credit card even though I purchased through Hotels.com. they said the card was only for incidentals, but charged for the whole room. I had to call and straighten out. Rooms are not very sound proof, we could hear the next rooms way too much.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Out of a novel"
The Cheshire feels like you have stepped into the pages of a novel or a Shakespearian work. It has a classic old English feel and look. Accommodations are modern with an antique look. While we were there they were having trouble with the AC which made for a warm stay, but the staff was on the ball and very prompt in responding to the issue (which was […] not in their control). Aside from the pool, the grounds were very kid friendly (even sending the kids on a clue based scavenger hunt with a prize bag of goodies when they completed it). The pool was very nice (cabanas, nice furniture, and complete with a bar), although not much room for kids to play at all. Breakfast was nice. This is our 2nd stay at the Cheshire, and we will return. The charm of the grounds and wonderful staff certainly makes up for any of the shortcomings. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old school Euro feel, clean and safe"
Dont ask the front desk for a resurant recommendation. They will recommend their restaurant, even if you have kids! $14 for Mac n cheese. I should have known when they handed my 8 year old an adult menu. Pool is fun. Comp breakfast was goodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Service and unbeatable location"
I am a repeat customer and have always had a great experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was fantastic! Room wasn't quite what we expected for the money though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bed squeaked loud with each move. Woke me and my roommate. I was obviously struggling with luggage, tired, and turned around when I checked in. I asked 3 people for help and all of them vaguely pointed where to go. No one assisted at all. No one helped us load our luggage the next morning. "British delight in the heart of St. Louis"
We were delighted with the Cheshire. We made the reservation due to the convenient in-city location and the price, and were delightfully surprised at the comfort and character of the hotel. The British themed decorations were pleasant and interesting. The room was large and comfortable with little extras that you would expect in a more expensive hotel. […] The continental breakfast had sausage and egg grabbers. The park was across the street with ample walking and running paths. Nice surprise. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was very nice, The only main complaint I have is parking. They try and get guest to pay $7.00 to park either in lot or garage. They did comp me so we did not have to pay it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay was good except for the surprise my wife got when she picked up a towel and discovered a two inch bug. We had a late meal and drinks at Fox and Hounds pub. Good food and great service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Rude staff and loud maids"
The check in staff were rude. The maid knocked on my door bright and early (before 8am)...I guess she didn't know someone was in the room. Then she proceeded to bang around in the rooms surrounding mine. Very loud. About an hour later, she opened my door and walked in. Good thing I was in my robe. Not impressed at all. "My first Boutique Hotel Stay"
This is a great stay for anyone who is a fan of British culture. The themed rooms and hotel decor were great!!! I stayed in a king deluxe room that was very nicely decorated and cozy. The pictures online are very accurate. The staff was very polite and friendly. The only down side was a little noise through the walls(4/5 for room comfort), but with […] the central AC unit running I couldn't hear anything from the neighbors. "Close to the zoo and park!"
Enjoyed our stay at the Crescent, both times I have been there it has been a pleasant stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The breakfast was terrible! Stale pastries and bagels. Very noisy. Expect to hear EVERYTHING going on with your neighbor. Location is excellent and the hotel atmosphere is quaint. Would consider this a 3 star not a 4 star hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good me ending"
Wonderful except for the motion detector light in the bathroom. It came on every time the air conditioner came on. I wish there would have been a way to by pass that feature-I would have slept better. Other than that it was a great stay . The Basso restaurant was so delicious. Good selection of craft beers tooGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Near Medical Facility"
A great place to stay. The ambiance is pleasantly Old English, however the common areas are somewhat shopworn in appearance (perhaps correcting this would impair the ambiance).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a great stay. The Staff are very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was very beautifull. I loved the décor. It felt romantic. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good they had a variety of stuff you could get. "Charming and comfortable in a great location."
I stayed for 2 nights in May and loved the charming outdoor areas where I could relax and enjoy the weather. The staff was nice, and the room was very stylish and comfortable. I thought it was a good value for what I paid. The pool area wasn't open yet, but it looked awesome and I would definitely go back. Very dirty. No help with valet. Musty smell. Filthiness in bathroom!!! Told we could have a late check out bc we had outpatient appointment with the Children's Hospital. ..then told we would be charged another day if we didn't check out by 11 am. Gave this Hotel a zero if I could.... very bad experience!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice night out"
The Cheshire is back to it's glory. This hotel and restaurant are truly on our best of list.Comparable with the other 5 star hotels in ST. Louis.Staff was great.Chef Hall presents a top rated menu.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Tudor decor is a bit ridiculous, including a full-size stuffed bear. Should improve cleanliness, and general service. However, the included breakfast was excellent, much better than what one would expect - superb pastries, including savory pastry. All in all, I'll stay there again because of the location, and the free wi-fi connection!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Forest Park"
The location of this hotel is ideal if you are in St Louis to visit the zoo or museums. You can walk to all the Forest Park attractions and you are not far from the Delmar Loop. Unfortunately we had a room that was facing the main road and so the single pane windows did not keep out the street noise. But we weren't in the room during the day and the […] traffic seemed to die down in the later hours. The Wi-Fi was spotty in our room so that was a negative. The breakfast left a little to be desired. If you are there just one night then great, but were sick of the same offerings after four mornings. Fresh fruit was a bonus, but the "hot offering" was a bland pastry. Front desk staff were very friendly and greeted us every time we returned. Parking was not an issue. We had our bikes and wished we had asked for a first floor room to avoid having to take our bikes on the elevator. We prob could have locked them to their bike racks (they do have some cruiser style bikes that you can borrow for the afternoon) but felt better with them in our sights. Room was clean and recently updated. Drive to downtown St Louis was easy and we didn't even have to take the interstate. Less than 15min to downtown even with traffic Overall a charming little hotel with an english style that we would definitely consider again when visiting St Louis.
