Had a great time..staff great..answered all questions...enjoyed the pool as wellGenuine Expedia guest review
Quant Cheshire Inn is located within easy access to everything we needed for a 4 day stay. Kids enjoyed the pool as much as adults, fun themed rooms were just the right size. Too bad the yappy little dog in 322 wasn't as happy as I was...I would have been able to sleep past 5am otherwise. Maintenance on the 2nd elevator was noisy, but other than that, […] the stay was enjoyable with friendly service, an OK breakfast bar & easy access to restaurants. "Neat place to stay"
This was our first stay at this hotel. The setting is quite unique. The reception we received when we first walked in was awesome. The receptionist was very polite and friendly. She was knowledgeable about the hotel and the surrounding area. The continental breakfast was better here than at most hotels we've stayed in. A good variety of food, well stocked […] and rotated so that you're not eating 2 hour old food... They room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. They also offer underground garage parking. An awesome option to have... I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's visiting St. Louis or just driving through the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cheshire Get Away for 50th Birthday"
Reasonable price an love the decor. Recommend this hotel at 3/5. Quaint and romantic. Great location. Fox and Hound Bar is a pub setting. Great for drinks. They rent bikes! Usually the breakfast is great. But this last visit they ran out of food. Picked over by 9:30am. I hate to mention the bathroom light. But for people who want a dark room...the bathroom […] light is on a timer. Stays on for a set period of time and no way to turn it off. The door has frosted glass. No there is no way to darken the room. The light will turn off after 5 minutes or so....but if you are a light sleeper. This hotel is not for you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The pool was great- only downside was not enough lounge chairs. Location was perfect, restaurants and bar were great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel, while quite a distance from downtown, was amazing! The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautiful, and have a little added bonus of being named after great English authors! Sitting poolside for the day was also a lovely little luxury! I'd go again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We are from the area and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff and restaurant's were great. We'll absolutely be back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not what I expected"
It is very old fashion and classy. I thought it would be a nice romantic hotel for me and my girlfriend but it was just way too old school. You get a book to read and everything in the hotel looks like it is from the 1800s. If you are a history buff and looking to relax then it is the right hotel for you. We were looking to go out and have a good time […] and there isn't any nightlife or anything for people in their twenties to do near the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This could be a first class establishment, but we found many faults, the worst being the cleanliness. This place needs to be detailed, there were areas that have never seen a cleaning tool. There were other guest's hairs in our bathroom, and the corners and baseboard trim were filthy. The eating utensils in the breakfast room were dirty and the tables […] were not kept clean between guests. The breakfast was adequate, although some of the fruit was moldy, and the staff had trouble keeping everything replenished in a timely manner. Watch out for the bed frame corners in your room that are wider than the mattress, and are easy to walk into, so we stuffed pillows into each corner to avoid walking into them. Refrigerators and microwaves are available upon request, REALLY? We tried for 2 days to get one, told it was available on the 2nd day and would be delivered, it never was, then we were told there were none available so we gave up on that one. Only one elevator was operable, so there was usually a wait. There are some positive things to say about The Cheshire. The staff was pleasant and friendly, the decor and antiques added to the ambiance of the hotel's historic theme, the on site restaurants were very good, and the location is close to Forest Park and a couple of the universities. Overall, for the rate of this hotel, there could be much improvement. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very friendly and helpful staff. They took very good care of us.will recommend this to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming, but not as quality as other choices"
This is not my first time staying at the Chesire. It's a charming place with the English theme and literary thing...but the quality overall is a little lacking. The walls are paper thin. We could literally hear the next room's conversations on the phone and what they were watching on TV. The front desk offered to provide a fan to drown out the noise; […] but the next room was not being inappropriately loud. During one day, some vent cleaners emptied out a bucket of dust into the toilet and didn't clean after themselves. You also pay at least $7 a day to park your own vehicle. The good is that the staff is VERY nice and they do try to do their best considering what they are working with; but overall.....I don't think the price point for a "boutique" hotel aligns with the quality in amenities and the infrastructure you get. If you value being near the park or Washington University...then it may be a good option. I would not pay more than $140 a night to stay here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great, friendly staff. Exactly what we were looking for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After spending all night driving around St.Louis and having a previous reservation at another hotel that was not a safe environment at all. We were so happy to finally get to the Cheshire. The staff was friendly and professional. There was a nice aura to the place that made us feel safe. We were excited about the themed rooms and the entire hotel was […] nice and in good shape! "Perfect place to relax away from the city"
It was far enough away from the actual city to relax, but close enough where you could drive in 10 minutes to get in the heart of St Louis! Great Price, and WONDERFUL place to stay! Loved how homey it was!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not so clean room, weird shower, hot room."
The room wasn't bad, but it shouldn't have been better for the price. There was "stuff" on the toilet seat, some nastiness on the wall above the trash can. The shower was just a hand held shower, with a seat in it. The shower floor was even with the rest of the bathroom floor, so when you showered it got half the bathroom floor soaked. The AC worked […] but not very well, it was hot all night. Also the breakfast itself was ok, but there is limited seating by the breakfast area so we sat in the bar area. We got kicked out of there bcs "there might be a manager looking." I explained to the guy that we were almost finished and we would clean up any mess, but still was removed from the table. All in all pretty bad experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great spot to stay in St. Louis"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Justin the front desk clerk was super helpful with all of our requests and being centrally located to Forest Park, the Zoo and easy access all over made this a great spot to stay. We WILL be going back and will recommend people this is worth your time to stay there!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worst service ever"
The first room we had was not clean and even had flip flops that were left from someone else. There was hair was under the covers. The second room had a sensor for the bathroom light that would get triggered by the AC every 20 minutes or so so I had to unscrew light bulbs in order to get rest. The Breakfast was awful and unsanitary. They had turkey, […] cheese and ham slices that you had to serve with your hands. The napkins were kept on a dusty windowsill. When we made these complaints when we check out, the front desk said there's nothing they can do about it and to contact hotels.com. I don't normally complain about this stuff online but this place was overpriced and across the board terrible. I'm not sure how they got good rating considering just how bad it was. Should've stayed at a Motel 6. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"We will come back"
Great quick getaway, food, and service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Ok so it's a very cool and unique concept. Interesting. Not like any place I've been. There appeared to be a ventilation issue and redistributing other people's hair in our bathroom. Day #1 upon entrance to room noticed all sorts of hair (not ours) in bathroom, glued to shower walls, etc. I wiped some of them up myself. Day #2 more new hairs appear […] in bathroom (not ours). Not real happy with that. Good have been cleaner for sure. But unique concept of English hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

bathroom was dirty. they charged my credit card even though I purchased through Hotels.com. they said the card was only for incidentals, but charged for the whole room. "Great hotel! Smells a little weird inside"
We LOVED our trip, and this hotel was a huge part of it! The staff is SUPER awesome. The pool is wonderful, but there is no hot tub / whirlpool. Just noting that. They provide a lovely breakfast free of charge each morning. My kids loved the workout room. We ate at the Basso: very different and exciting! The wait staff got to know us by name. Our beds […] were AMAZINGLY comfy, but the housekeeping staff did not give us as many towels or complimentary hair stuff (shampoos, conditioners) as we requested daily (we needed 3 per day... girls with long hair!). Everyone is super-friendly, and they want to make your stay incredible. I ordered up this hotel online and had no idea what I was getting into, and we were SO PLEASED. "Dr trip to St Louis."
We drive up to St Louis once a year from southern MO to see the heart specialist at Barnes Jewish Hospital. The Cheshire was rated very well and was pretty close to the hospital. It was an older property but very clean and well cared for. The bed was really nice and comfortable. We had a drink in the pub after checking into our room. It had a nice atmosphere […] and drinks were good. We inquired about restaurants nearby and decided on a neat little local place just down the road. "Jimmy's In The Park" was a great little place. We really enjoyed our dinner. Food was great. The continental breakfast was good the next morning. My only complaint is the way the breakfast bar is set up it was really crowded. Everyone was lined up blocking the bar. I would like to have gotten something else but there were so many people in the corner I didn't bother. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Out of a novel"
The Cheshire feels like you have stepped into the pages of a novel or a Shakespearian work. It has a classic old English feel and look. Accommodations are modern with an antique look. While we were there they were having trouble with the AC which made for a warm stay, but the staff was on the ball and very prompt in responding to the issue (which was […] not in their control). Aside from the pool, the grounds were very kid friendly (even sending the kids on a clue based scavenger hunt with a prize bag of goodies when they completed it). The pool was very nice (cabanas, nice furniture, and complete with a bar), although not much room for kids to play at all. Breakfast was nice. This is our 2nd stay at the Cheshire, and we will return. The charm of the grounds and wonderful staff certainly makes up for any of the shortcomings. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old school Euro feel, clean and safe"
Dont ask the front desk for a resurant recommendation. They will recommend their restaurant, even if you have kids! $14 for Mac n cheese. I should have known when they handed my 8 year old an adult menu. Pool is fun. Comp breakfast was goodGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Comfortable and unique"
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was great! Breakfast was good. Loved the unique look and feel of the place. Only complaint is the front desk had no idea about the VIP program, so no upgrades. Showed them our expedia card and they responded that was through expedia and they don't have anything to do with it, so no upgrades.Genuine Expedia guest review

Bed squeaked loud with each move. Woke me and my roommate. I was obviously struggling with luggage, tired, and turned around when I checked in. I asked 3 people for help and all of them vaguely pointed where to go. No one assisted at all. No one helped us load our luggage the next morning. I love the hotel, I spend the afternoon by the pool which was furnished elegantly. The room was great but the best part was the "sliders" order from the bar area. I believe the Fox and Hound??? Overall excellent experience.Genuine Expedia guest review

"British delight in the heart of St. Louis"
We were delighted with the Cheshire. We made the reservation due to the convenient in-city location and the price, and were delightfully surprised at the comfort and character of the hotel. The British themed decorations were pleasant and interesting. The room was large and comfortable with little extras that you would expect in a more expensive hotel. "Pleasant little hotel steeped in English history."
The Cheshire is a little hotel on Clayton Road near St. Louis. The front staff was very helpful. The room we had was accessible to wheelchairs so the shower was very flat and the water ran into the bathroom drain. We were still in the room one morning and the cleaning staff never came back to clean the room that day. The other days were fine. There […] are several interesting restaurants on the grounds. We ate Basso's which was very good. It's a bar type restaurant. They served small dishes (like a tapas restaurant, except Italian) and they were all delicious. The waitress was excellent. "Rude staff and loud maids"
The check in staff were rude. The maid knocked on my door bright and early (before 8am)...I guess she didn't know someone was in the room. Then she proceeded to bang around in the rooms surrounding mine. Very loud. About an hour later, she opened my door and walked in. Good thing I was in my robe. Not impressed at all. "My first Boutique Hotel Stay"
This is a great stay for anyone who is a fan of British culture. The themed rooms and hotel decor were great!!! I stayed in a king deluxe room that was very nicely decorated and cozy. The pictures online are very accurate. The staff was very polite and friendly. The only down side was a little noise through the walls(4/5 for room comfort), but with […] the central AC unit running I couldn't hear anything from the neighbors. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
