This hotel was not a cheap deal, but we were very satisfied with both our room and the staff. Never having visited Jacksonville before we were not sure what to expect, and we were disappointed that the Jacksonville Landing was really just another mall. This would be fine for a business meeting or a convention. If I was vacationing in this area again, I would travel a few miles down the coast to St Augustine, which is more of a tourist area.

The Omni Jacksonville was by far the finest hotel at which we have ever stayed. The service, all aspects, was beyond our expectations, the room was beautifully furnished and even the food, both room service and Juliette's cafe in the hotel lobby, was above and beyond what we expected. We were attending a convention which was held at both the Omni and the convention center across the street, and I can't imagine a more well-coordinated effort!

We have stayed at the Omni many times in the past and chose it again recently because of its location to a venue. However, unlike previous times in the past our experience was less than satisfying. The water didn't drain properly in our hotel room, for some odd reason we only had one washcloth in the bathroom, and they stopped issuing phone books in the hotels rooms. We looked all over and couldn't find one and later found out from hotel staff that they no longer put phone books in the rooms because they are "going green". It seems a little silly not to have a no charge resource in the rooms for your out of town guests. Luckily we know the area pretty well and can get around but for those who are unfamiliar with the area it can be frustrating and confusing.

On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful (upgraded us to an Executive Suite after we found out the shower in our room was still being repaired). We had a late dinner at the J-Bar. The food was fantastic and the bar staff great! All in all I have to say that this hotel far exceeded our expectations and we will stay there again the next time we are in Jacksonville.

Upon arrival the bathroom contained used body lotion which had a hair on it when you lifted the lid. We called the front desk and a new one was delivered. About 1/2 later I called as the tv remote did not work. They were going to call engineering. We left for the afternoon. Upon returning after dinner I went to use the mouthwash that was in the bathroom and it also had been previously opened--no seal. No other amenties like shower cap or any thing else. No facial soap. Then we went to bed to watch tv and the remote would not work. We again called the front desk and were told that they would have to send someone to reprogram it and it would take about 10 minutes to do that. By now we are tired and it is midnight and we just want to watch a little tv before going to sleep. Bad experience and would not return to any OMNI.

First, my husband and I were very comfortable in this hotel; our room was spacious, the handicap=accessible shower was exactly what we requested, we enjoyed the view (even from the 4th fl), and the pool area (which was under some repair) was inviting although it would have been better if the water was heated (as a result we didn't swim, although we had counted on doing so). The fitness equipment also was impressive, even though the area was modest in size. Also, very important, the staff were all very friendly and accomodating, quickly supplying us with whatever we noticed was missing. Our impression: The room had been very recently upgraded for handicap guest use, and it appeared that the room had been very hastily put into service, without a final detailing. Also the room cleaning staff seemed to change each day, so each day we noticed different items we had to ask for. Upon arrival we had to ask for an iron to go along with the room's ironing board, and a hair dryer. We noticed we had only one trash can by the desk and none in the bathroom. We noticed a loose tile on the recently tiled floor, and I fixed the toilet myself a couple of times so that it flushed/refilled properly. Next day we asked for coffee pack refills and the official guide to the hotel services. Then, I noticed make-up stains on several of the towels that were replaced during cleaning (I don't wear make-up), and there was a large stain on the carpet just by the bathroom in the entrance area (very unappetizing). Also there was a fine white powder on the door knobs and kick-board moldings that appeared to be the residue of wall-board or other construction. Also, we stayed 4 nights and never received another soap, shampoo etc. which was very surprising for a 4 star hotel. Again, the staff were wonderful to a person, smiling and attentive and we did enjoy our stay there. But, after each new "discovery" we had to joke about the lack of attention to important details.

They met each of my requests with a smile and a can-do additude that is refreshing anywhere these days. Location was perfect to my needs and all recommended services (towncars and resturants) were spot-on. This will be my new hotel in the jacksonville fla area. (p.s.) I have a "rewards membership" with another chain and will bypass their hotel in the area for the Omni.

We left a tip each day for the housekeeper, but one day, after a long day, we came back to the room at 8pm only to find the room had never been made up! We had to go to the front desk to let them know, as the housekeeping stated "I will see if I can get someone up there." For each of the following days we were there (a total of 4 days) the bed was made up, but no sundries were left, including the coffee! Finally, on our first night there, we called to see if we could get some laundry picked up and were told that someone would come up and get it in about 5 minutes. No one ever showed. We brought it down to the bell captain the next day (Tuesday) only to be told that they would not be able to get it back to us before Friday (the day we were leaving at 4am - so that was no good). We reminded them that they had the hotel promises one day service. We were told that they would try their best, and we did have it back by Wednesday night. The one bright spot was the barkeep, Vanessa....she was wonderful and played a big part in getting our room taken care of after we told her what was going on.
