I stayed here because of the great reviews but was very disappointed with the overall quality of the hotel decor and amenities. The price was about the same as the Westin hotel (with heavenly shower and bed) but was nowhere near as nice. The lamp shades in my room looked like they had huge water (or whatever) types of stains splattered all over -- not sure what even went on in that room. Staff was horrified and was very accomodating and moved me to another room but many of the shades in the new room also had the same issue. Staff decided that it was a "pattern" on the shade...but i would say a very unfortunate choice of decorating (and there was no pattern to it). Also, the air conditioning unit was right under the window and curtains had to be pulled around the air conditioning unit to block out the sun so the air only blew behind the curtains. Worse part was that the clunky air conditioning unit went on every 10 minutes with a loud noise (no exageration), would run for about 10 minutes and then the unit would shut down and restart again. Made it very difficult to sleep with that noise every 10 minutes so i had to turn it off for the night. I checked out the next day early and moved over to the Westin. No comparison for similar price!!! Apparently the Galleria Park Hotel has recently been renovated but i think they should have spent a bit more on the upgrades. On a positive note, the breakfast room service (goat cheese/spinach/mushroom omlette) was one of the very best hotel breakfasts that i have had and very reasonably priced! Staff was also very accomodating throughout the hotel and the complimentary wine in the lobby at night was a very nice touch.

Good location, close to Union Square but quiet, convenient transportation. Very good and warm services and personnel. We booked a two-double bed room, it's not a big room but very clean, bright and beautiful. Their restaurant MIDI also provides good food. Both the hotel and restaurant are a little expensive for young travelers or students, but they are worthy of the price. Overall, we had a good experience - in our first time to visit SF.

The location and price of this hotel were great. It was centrally located to many of the sites downtown with Muni and BART stations nearby. The entire hotel was clean and recently renovated. Service was also excellent from the friendly staff. They held our bags for free after checkout so we wouldn't have to lug them around before our 6 PM flight. The bedroom was large enough for a queen bed, small desk, 2 night stands, a corner chair, and a dresser/TV stand. I don't expect a large bedroom in a hotel when I will be out most of the time anyway, but the room felt very cramped. The ceilings were very high though (probably 12' or 14') giving the illusion of more space. Our room was in a terrible location right next to the elevators and the utility closet. Lots of noise penetrated the door and walls including guest traffic, elevator bells, and housekeeping going in and out of the utility closet all night and morning. Light sleepers beware! The bathroom was incredibly small. Our bathroom had the smallest shower I've ever seen! I hit my arms on the shower walls several times during the 3-day, 2-night stay. Although the interior is nicely decorated, the building seems to be quite old with poor ventilation. My girlfriend and I woke up with sore throats both mornings. I would only recommend this hotel if you are traveling alone. The location and price are great, but the room and especially the bathroom were too tight for two people.

All of their employees were great, very friendly. It was nice having a bar in the hotel; although we didn't make it, the happy hour seemed very popular. Decor was nice - some of the facilities like the bathtub were older and had very obvious signs of use. The only thing that was a draw back for me was that there was old broken glass (chunks and small shards) on the floor between one side of the bed and the nightstand. We spoke to the concierge about having it cleaned by the cleaning staff but this did not get done. The next day before we left for the day, i made sure to move the nightstand well back from the bed, tucked in the bed skirt and left the bedside lamp on - that seemed to do the trick. The broken glass was a major turn off. If you're looking for something close to Union Square and a bit a way from the Tenderloin, this hotel is great.

Galleria Park Hotel was a nice surprise. The location was great - within easy walking distance of the Union Square area, Chinatown and the Bart. The bathroom was also a nice surpise - with tiny floor titles, an nice big size, and squarish shape and windows. The housekeeping was good - room was clean. Decor and color were comfortingly blue and white. Hotel desk staff were friendly as well and willing to address issues. It was an excellent 5 night stay. The only issue is the slow internet service. I couldn't access it even with the network cable in the room. At the business center, computer use and printer were free but it took 30-40 minutes to check in and print a boarding pass for my return flight. Fortunately I had access to the internet at another hotel that was hosting the convention I was attending.

Be sure to request a room overlooking the court yard & this shouldn't be an issue. Overall for the price, location & decor - not bad at all....

Have stayed in the area several times, this hotel is smaller, but offers a much more personal experience, we were greeted by multiple employes every time we entered the lobby. Rather than a large corporate machine feel, it felt like a little boutique hotel/family owned. Well renovated, very current and modern decor, much more appealing than other hotel chains in area. Room didn't have lots of extra space, but downtown hotels usually don't! Service was amazing and friendly, great coffee and wine receptions every morning and afternoon. First time to stay at a Joie de Vivre hotel and would look for them gain in the future!

Some surprises were the free wine-tasting everyday from 5:30-6:30, the large room and very comfortable king bed, the rooftop zen garden, the art-deco decor and, again, the amazingly friendly staff. I have to give just two slight dings - 1) the A/C unit in the room was difficult to regulate. It would go on and off during the night and sometimes woke us up. 2) not a great internet connection in the business center, but the wifi reception in the room was good. 3) I ding every place where there is no fan in the bathroom. But other than this, I would 100% recommend this place to anyone, and we will stay there again should we revist SF.
